[Q] Newbie help Rooting Galaxy S I9000 - General Questions and Answers

Hi all
Firstly I apologise if this is in the wrong forum as im new to the site, I have searched the forums and followed all instructions supplied on how to root the Galaxy S 2.2 using the oneclick method. All goes well but after I apply the fix in recovery mode I keep getting an error E:signature verification failed Installation aborted.
Im just wondering if im doing anything wrong, as I said I have searched through the forums but I cannot find a solution to my problem.
I have just recently got the phone and its on Vodafone UK, all was fine at start until i started to install apps and now it just keeps freezing and lagging big time. below is the details of firmware etc.
Thanks in advance.
Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Vodafone UK
Firmware 2.2
Baseband Version I9000BUJP5
Kernal Version 2.6.32.9 root SE-S611 #1
Build Number FROYO.BUJP7

I only rooted mine the other day. everyone was telling me to do it through my pc but i just couldnt do it. so i entered z4root into google on my phone and went to the android version and found a download there and put it straight onto my phone. took 2 mins. hope this helps.
danny

I have downloaded that z4root but was told the oneclick was easier, does this z4root have all the files necessary to root the phone or do i need to download anything extra to root the phone.

For GingerBread you need to flash a custom kernel with Odin Cf-Root or Speedmod

Have you had any luck with this yet.? Ive been trying to find out more but every single time soneone asks they never get a answer coz its always the next question that does lol. Its all JVO this or JVP that or JVQ whatever however it aint helping us when we have numbers on the end.just if someone could explain the difference..im guessing its versions of the firmware kind of..Im sure JVO was Froyo but does our GB JV end with Q or P? so why not say JVQ5 or JVP5 instead be easier for us noobs to understand quicker without bothering others or be told off for it already been asked even though i cant find anything coherent lol

I think we might be out of luck
My gf has the same phone (also on Koodo) and so far I haven't succeeded in rooting it. Gingerbreak hangs, superoneclick hangs at step 6 like I've seen for many other people, and Z4Root didn't work either.
I've seen some pleople claim that gingerbreak worked on their C555 but it hasn't for me on my many attempts.
It succeeded on the first try for my Optimus One but that was running 2.2.1.

tried it with superoneclick and manually, both times it said it was successful but the busybox, su installation always fails and i can not mount the file system with read and write privileges
I never buy again an LG phone!
Finally could root the LG-C555 "LG optimus chat"
I finally could root the LG-C555 (LG optimus chat) from koodo (Canada).
I used the superoneclick v2.3.3 and tried frst the zergrush method ... which failed,
then (without rebooting) the psneuter method which failed too.
Finally tried the Auto method ... and success !!!
Now, I have to find a way to install cyanogenmod
firmware LGC555
Found this damn original firmware link to use with KDZ.
EDIT: Cannot post url as a new member, what you need to know is:
swdata/WEBSW/LGC555/AKDOAQ/V10d_00/V10D_00.kdz
I can finally start experimenting with the LGC555.
If anyone else has already done something, I strongly encourage them to share.
Hi there, where you able of installing another firmware into your LG-C555? If so, I surely would like to know how you did it!!
Here's some info you might be interested reading:
The LG Updater tool detects my phone properly and tells me that I'm running the latest (V10D) firmware for this LG-C555 phone. I need to reinstall this version V10D of the firmware or even a previous one but I'm unable because I can't choose ANY firmware, I can't "upgrade", it tells me that everything is OK with the phone but it is not and that's why I want to "upgrade/change" the firmware of this phone
Is there a way I could "break" the internal firmware hoping that the LG Updater would then allow me to install the latest one (V10D) on it?
For your information, my LG-C555 is network unlocked & rooted and currently runs Android 2.2.
Since I need to change the internal firmware I went ahead and tried Gingerbreak (version 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) but none of them seems to work.
I was able of pushing gingerbreak.apk (version 0, 1 and 2) to the /data/app folder with the USB debugging mode ON and I also have inserted a formated/mounted SD card in the phone. Then I installed the .apk normally, the installation started but never ended, it stayed in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... I had to reboot for those 3 attemps
What can I do next if I only want to "change" the internal firmware of this phone?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty
SuperOneClick works for LG-C555
I Just ran SuperOneClick using the Auto option and it worked perfectly. Exact same specs as you (phone is from Koodo Canada as well)
Model: LG-C555
Android Version: 2.2.2
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build Number: FRG83
Software Version: LG-C555-V10d
i didnt have any problems rooting the LG-C555 with superoneclick not a hitch
I know it's an old thread... anyhow I managed to root my Telus Optimus Chat with the SuperOneClick 2.3.3 but then I cannot find a way to backup my stock rom and find any custom rom that this compatible with this POS phone! Everything seem to be only for expensive phones.. please help?
Does anyone have the KDZ or link for this phone?

[Q] pleeeeeeeez help

my phone is samsung galaxy s I500 verizon with android 2.2, recently i have found updat from samsung to 2.3.4 and no need to program's like Odin .....
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00041645&fm_seq=41813
and while i was searching i found another update from this website
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242747
do i need to unlock my phone again after the update cos i'm not leaving in America
which rom is better
The update through the Samsung page will install a stock update, which means the phone will be un-rooted if it already is, and will be more difficult to root since it is Gingerbread.
The second link goes to a forum post outlining a non-stock ROM, so I assume it is already rooted and such.
As far as which is better... It is all up to what you want and your use case, pick one and hope you make the right choice.

[Q]

Hi all first post so please go easy on me...
Im trying to root my GS2 so i can unlock the sim and i have been looking how to flash and root (have done other stuff in the past)
The problem i am having is finding the correct file to use.
Im in the UK on an Orange locked phone and need to find a CF root? or what ever that matches my BaseBand and Kernel
BaseBand i9100PBVLP6
Kernel [email protected]#3
Can anyone link me or tell me what Rom i can use that will keep the phone running like it was but without all the Orange crap or just Root.
Cheers all
rooting I9100PBVLP6
this worked fine for my i9100p:

How do I root the Samsung Galaxy Ace Q (SGH-I827D)?

Android version - 2.3.6
Baseband Version I827DTLLE4
Kernel version - 2.6.38.6
Build - GINGERBREAD.TLLE4
Carrier - Telus
Supposedly this phone is the same as the galaxy appeal in the USA. However I've tried OneClickRoot, a dozen other unlockers and several threads.
Trying to load any of the files in recovery mode from the SD card results in an signature and installation failure.
Has anyone successfully managed to root this phone? I suspect that I've just failed to follow any instructions properly.

Newbie wants to root the Galaxy S4 i337m, build number kot49h.i337mvlufni2

Hi all
First of all i need to say that i m all new to android and samsung phones, so i may ask questions that can seem stupid, be patient with me please, i m new but i learn fast
I just bought a brand new canadian i337m from koodo mobile, and it comes with the android version 4.4.2, baseband i337mvlufni2, build number kot49h.i337mvlufni2. I want to root my phone and open an all new world to me, but from what i read from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2293800, there are some problems with WIFI and Bluetooth after rooting, i guess something went wrong during the rooting process, or the files used weren't the correct ones. That's why i want to make sure that i will use the right files to flash with Odin, i don't want to brick my brand new phone. My problem is that i can't find the right files of CF-Auto-Root to flash with, since in his website for autoroot, chainfire has files for i337m based on build number KOT49H.I337MVLUFNC1, but my phone has newer build number kot49h.i337mvlufni2. Did Chanfire forget to update his website ? or the build number doesnt make any difference ? am i missing something ? Please can someone help me or guide me so i can root the phone safely ?
Thanks in advance
following...
Did you find an answer?
Im having the same issue..... tried the root method by chainfire for my phone model in another thread but Odin gives me "Fail"
and im thinking its because i have an updated build.
Thanks,
