Best PDF Reader Apps - Android Apps and Games

What are the best PDF reader Apps?
I am compiling a list of the best apps of each category, so leave your opinion and a quick reason to help out the community.
If the app costs $, be sure to say so!
I have tried repligo and beamreader, they're pretty similar. What I would like is for an app to let me make a bookmark where I left off.
Repligo goes to where you left off when you open a doc, but you can't actively mark it. Repligo also overlaps the titles and size/date of files, making it tough to read. It also does not read image pdfs well, just a giant red X or black page.
Beamreader does not go to where you left off, and scrolling sucks in it (its like you need to pull a rubber band and snap it in 2 before it gets to the next page).
Btw, both cost money and are good.

Easily Ezpdf. I think it either costs $0.99 or $1.99.
Adobe reader is good but it does not have:
1) Bookmarking.
2) You can't look for pdfs, they are found automatically. (This can be good or bad depending on the users point of view).

+1 Ezpdf, 99cents.
Adobe is ok, lags to much for me. Ezpdf works way better.

I use Aldiko (paid app, or free lite version) and just import the PDF's into my bookshelf. Might be worth looking into.

i know this is an android space, just wandering though, if blackberry's got a free pdf reader too?

i guess ezPDF reader is pretty amazing

Bump guys

[APP] RepliGo Reader - PDF reader with markup tools!

Been looking for an app that can do this for a while. Bought ezPDF hoping it would eventually support this, but it looks like someone beat them to it.
Functionally, it seems to perform similarly to Adobe's own Reader app with maybe a little better performance and the exception that this one has markup tools, which are very easy to use and customizable.
One minus is that it costs $5, but I needed something like this and I am very happy that someone has finally filled that need, so they deserve my $5
The features are good but i find the rendering performance very poor.
When you switch the page it will first show a blurry image which it sharpens in about a second. Adobe or ezpdf show the sharp image immediately.
I also dont like that when you scroll up and down the page moves around horizontally.
I personally hope that aldiko gets an update soon for some much needed pdf features like keeping the zoom-level and faster zooms and moving around the page. I love Aldiko's book shelf/list and the overview and organization it offers.

College Notes

Any of you use this phone for taking notes during college?
I'm looking for a nice app to take college notes (something like ms paint, because standard android drawing apps won't let you draw straight lines)
Please share your experience!
Jeroen
Skitch or Smart Diagram
Skitch and Smart Diagram both allow drawing of lines. I think both are free, although the free SD version has a limit on document numbers.
Skitch has the advantage of a free-form note and integration with Evernote (a beautiful app if ever there was one).
phatpad is also another paid app and works well with the Note.
If you go to their website, you can try it free for 24hrs by downloading the apk.
I'm not a student but there are apps like Soonr Scribble, ezPDF and iAnnotate that allow drawing and scribbling on top of your documents, etc. Then there are also Mindjet, and Epistle. Would like to hear what others have to say!
There is also FreeNote in the market. But after initial enthusiasm I uninstalled it. But others may like it better that I did.
I found/tried Phatpad yesterday. It is great because you can freely place everything everywhere: Text, scribbled notes and graphics. You can edit everything if you reopen a document, which you cannot do with Skitch (which would be a great app otherwise). Phatpad allows to lasso-select and move parts of the document around. That's a rare find for android 2.3 apps.
All in all it's a well composed app.
But ... it's very buggy. And for the prize (which otherwise would be absolutely justified) it's too buggy IMO.
If you can wait for ICS there are a few free-note-taking apps for 3.0 and higher which look very promising.
I am getting a note to use in my college courses and I am going to load up ICS right away and use "antipaper HD" or something along those lines. I tried it out on my nexus and it looks very promising. You get to keep separate notebooks and everything.

I used Mindjet just to create a brainstorm for my dissertation. I need to reinstall Evernote really as I find that handy. It may not be relevant for you, but Dropbox is handy for sharing files.
I wanted something that enabled drawing on GDocs stuff, just like you can draw on their website version. Now THAT would be something. I take notes for college too with the Note, but i keep whatever i have to draw separate from the main stuff in gdocs.

Do you guys know of any notebook/note app that enables auto zoom? Lecturenotes and Antipaper requires you to manually advance to the next part when you zoom in so can anyone tell me if there's an app that moves automatically when you've reached end of paper? Thanks guys!!

[Q] PDF Bookmarking and Editing

I currently use Repligo for all of my PDF editing needs, but it doesn't bookmark. I've read around that ezPDF can do this, but I really don't want to pay for another app that all I'll use it for is just bookmarking. I love Repligo, just wish it had this feature.
Is there a free app out there that can bookmark and edit bookmarks already in the PDF?
Thanks
I know you're looking for a free app but I heavily vouch for ezPDF. It's amazing. I use it in class to annotate whatever the professors say, do all and any drawings they do (then resize them down and accommodate them on places with blank space) and highlight every important text of the books, just like most people do on their $200+ books. I'd never, ever pencil a book that expensive, so it feels awesome doing it on a PDF.
It's totally worth it.

How to be a proficient user of Note PRO 12.2?

Hello, I am on summer vacation. In some promotional videos, the actors/actresses seem to know many undocumented features of the 10.1 2014 and 12.2 PRO. I would like to learn more about the Note PRO 12.2 and be a proficient user of the device. What is the best way to do that? I bough the device for pdf annotation, pdf viewing, productivity, etc. Thanks.
Have you downloaded the user manual in PDF?

Youtube and Google are your best options. As an example, search Youtube for "galaxy note pro tips" and you'll find a few videos dedicated to the device. Ultimately there's no one-stop-shop for proficiency on a single device other than the instruction manual. Even then, an instruction manual will not cover 3rd party software that you're free to install in order to improve your workflow. Video guides on youtube will only cover features that are important to the creator of the video, not necessarily to all users, so ultimately a series of detailed searches are the best way to learn.
Avoid general searches and start using the software in order to find it's limitations so that you can search in detail for solutions. For example instead of searching generically for "how to annotate pdf on a galaxy note pro" search for "annotate pdf adobe reader android" if you use adobe's pdf reader or "annotate pdf ezpdf android" if you use ezpdf. For third party software you can add "galaxy note" to your searches to see if that helps narrow down specific workflows for s-pen based devices but it's not necessary to specifically search for the note pro.
I know this isn't the answer you were looking for but if any of us spew out our own workflows it may not mean much if we use software you're not intending to use or purchase.
As for PDF annotation specifically, I've found it to be cumbersome to do on Android for MY SPECIFIC NEEDS so I've given up on it. The PDF documents that I review/comment on are often large/complicated and end up overtaxing the various PDF apps I've tried (and I've tried nearly a dozen different top rated ones) to the point that I give up. That's just me though and everyone else has different needs. Best way to start is try a couple of PDF programs to see what software looks good to you and then search/ask specifically how to annotate using your favorite software package.
There are a few tweaks I needed to get my note pro working like it should (in my mind). Basically, in the Google play store, there is a person that made the ability to add most apps available for multi window. To me, that is huge. AEON TIME. Search for that in the play store. Multi window app manager.
Second, to help me, I got an additional pen. Yes, it's way more expensive. But I need a real feel pen in my hands. Just works for me and maybe will give an idea. Got it from Amazon. Called bamboo pen. Wacom able. But works perfectly for us too. Has a cap.
I used my note pro for true multitasking this summer. Those were two steps that made my note pro work better for me. Good luck.
Get a different launcher. TW is all fun and well, and MagUX may look fancy, but it's severely limited and incredibly heavy. Get Apex or Nova, this gives you a thousand more options. You won't loose any overlying functionality (like the Spen.). The only thing that wont work are the TW-only S-widgets (S-note, S-calendar(Use Today instead).) (And ofcourse the MagazineUX screen. )https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher.pro & https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher (Both are nearly identical vanilla-Android launchers, so pick whichever you like best. Personally, I prefer Apex.)
While you're at it, look into Zooper Widget. There's no real way to describe it accurately, but it allows you to make your own widgets from scratch, with nearly every bit of information possible. (There are also thousands of templates for you to start from, both in the app and in the play store, a lot of them free. Those don't work on the free version of ZW though.) It lets you see a ton of information, from calendar appointments to free RAM to location to network strength, in one widget. (Or twenty, whatever you like.) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zooper.zwpro
Get a different pen. I've got the Wacom Bamboo Feel stylus for Note. It doesn't improve writing recognition, but it feels a thousand times more like a pen (has a cap with a clip and everything.). It uses the same Spen tech (the Spen is Wacom), so no incompatibility. And yes, it has the button.
Adobe Reader allows you to write on PDF's. (Who'd have thought. Did anyone try that?) It's not perfect (it never is), but at least you don't have the import-export hassle. For PDF viewing, Perfect Viewer (free comic reader) has a (free) PDF plugin. It's a comic reader that's used to massive files, so less issues handling big files. (.cbr is usually much more heavy than .pdf). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer & https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer.pdfplugin
Don't forget you get a 1 year Evernote Premium subscription with any Note device. Nifty little app for notetaking, and it does handwriting now.
And also don't forget you get Hancom Office with this. (Galaxy Apps, not Google Play.). It's a lot like Office.
Get Swiftkey. (Free now) Tons faster, more options and it has the nice little trick of remembering your sentences in the suggestions. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey
Another app i've found to be quite useful is Sidebar Pro. It adds an overlaying sidebar on top of everything else that you can pop up with a swipe, and you can swith to and close apps in it as well. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mohammad.adib.sidebar
As for what they do in the 'It can do that' ads, I've yet to discover how they do half of that.

Great suggestions! I actually have some questions for you since you seem to be an experienced user of this device;
I've asked other users on which app allows you to have the capability of making your own annotations to files such as .pdf or .doc and etc (similar to the screen write feature of the s-pen). But do you know of an app that can open up those files and you can edit it from that app itself?
And also, I've recently bought my Note Pro and I was wondering how I can retrieve my Evernote Premium subscription? Thanks in advanced!

As far as annotating word files goes what you're asking for is impossible, the word file .doc format doesn't support having comments in graphical layers regardless of whether they're bitmap or vector based. On the PDF side it's possible and there's many different software options but each has its own features so its best to try them out.
I'm currently using qPDF and find it to be ok for annotation of PDF files of small to medium size and complexity so long as all i'm looking for is to jot down a few notes or highlight areas.

To be honest I haven't much experience with PDF annotations on a tablet. What I do, I do in OfficeSuite Pro. I'm the designer, not the editor, so I'm on the Adobe Indesign end of the annotation cycle. In theory Adobe Reader should work, but I can't get it to save without an account.
Open up Evernote. Usually it pops up straight away. If it doesn't, open up the 'Explore Evernote' option, it should be in the list. (Icon looks like a horn).

I just answered your question today in the post titled "File Editor App." My post within there is called "How to Scribble Notes" (not sure if this is the correct way to link but try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-pro-12/help/file-editor-app-t2830386).
You will be very happy.

Pretty cool, didn't think that it would default to having the graphical element on top of text like that.
I stand corrected!

[Q] Textbook viewer?

Hey guys.
I'm not sure if it's okay to discuss this in xda but I've recently downloaded my school textbooks through torrents because they're really expensive and being in college does not help me at all. I have them in .pdf format but I was wondering if there are other ways I can view them because I go to My Files and click the file from there then use Hancom viewer to read it. Are there other apps out there that can make this process easier? And lastly, I want to start exploring e-books so if there's an e-book viewer or something similar to that, I would definitely take a look at it.
For pdfs try Perfect Viewer with its PDF plugin. (both free on Google play). I use it for all my coursebooks and magazines. It has a bookshelf option, and an in-app file explorer.
For ebooks, I highly recommend Moon+ Reader. Aldiko and Mantabo reader are also options.
As much as piracy is illegal (do I feel like a hypocrite for saying that? God yes.) I think I can safely say every student does that. The companies ask for it, charging you 80 quid for a single 50 page book and then paying you 1 quid if you return it without even taking it out of the plastic...

Agree, in this day and age electronic distribution at a discounted rate should be available either by timed subscription or full purchase.

I completely agree. And Moon+ Reader Pro is 50% off right now. It gives you loads of extra features that I think are especially worth it for students....for example, the ability to highlight and annotate passages.
You will likely want this feature in your pdf app as well. I have not tried the recommended app; however, if it doesn't allow you to annotate, you can try EZpdf.
To be honest though, there is nothing better than Adobe Acrobat Pro for marking up textbooks and other pdf files. Buy the student edition (Tip: Many college math departments sell the student edition for less than half the price of the retail student edition...I paid $44). The only drawback is you have to use a computer...but it is so much easier to do that part on my Macbook, save the file as a readable pdf and then put the textbook in Dropbox to open on whatever device I happen to be using at the time.

Perfectviewer is what the name says, viewer only. It's actually a comic reader, so no annotations.
Though to be fair, this is a Note device. Just press and hold the pen button, draw a selection and save that. (or use the screen write feature).
Saves you a ton of time leafing through all the pages when you want to review it later. You just view them as single pictures in a gallery.
That's what I do, and I find myself not needing annotations at all. Bonus, you can email the selections as opposed to the entire book.
Near the exams I simply put most of the saved selections on a photoshop document and print that as my cheatsheet. Extremely time-saving once you get used to it.
(I stole that idea entirely off one of my mates who's a medical student. Saw his collection (well, library) of snippet texts and screenshots with writing(ahem, inelligeble scribbles) once and though '****, that's a good idea!).

I use ezPDF for textbooks. If the content type matters, mainly science and math books, but I prefer to do a lot of highlighting and annotating right into the textbook. I prefer ezPDF over Moon reader. You will have to try them to see which works better for you.
