The one that came with the phone

For the money, the above poster is right, nothing beats zero, lol.
However, the higher the class the faster the card. Right now 32gb class 10s are around 90 or so. Just make sure to get name brand (Kingston, sandisk, etc) and read reviews.
Most new phones include a class 2 card. If you get anything above class 4 you may have to change the SD card read ahead buffer, at least on the HTC evo (stock is 64, 128-256 is preferred, and as high as 512 for a class 10), to get full benefit of the higher speed capability.
Hope this makes sense.
thanks, i just wanted to know about space.. but that's cool, the 16 is great, just wondering for the future.

That looks like a reg size SD card. You have to get micro sd
I use a class 10 card I got from the egg. IIRC, it was a whopping $30.

From my experience, Kingston seems to be best balance for quality at reduced cost (compared to SanDisk).

Just got a 32gb sandisk class 2 from amazon for $67 shipped. Research told me it would benchmark like a class 4 and they weren't lying. Card reads quickly and has 0 errors.

Ya for microSD, I got SanDisk every time. They are more expensive than comparable micro but they have the best quality and performance (from my online research/reading). I haven't been let down yet.
Worth every penny and works great!!

I got a different question related ro this topic. What is the max class the epic can actually handle. I was told class 6 if that's the case its pointless to get a class 10. Is someone willing to bench a class 6 and class 10 for comparasing?

Yeah but you got to think ahead into the future. Most people don't last the entire two years with the same phone, at least i don't. One year and im already switching it up. Next phone can probably do more so it's always good to have.
I'd like to try to keep this phone for three years. That's my goal. It's a great phone.

Just bought it via Newegg it will come in about week.

Copy all important data/pics/backups to a computer! Once SD memory goes, its gone for good mostly.
I'm way too paranoid about flash memory failure to spend more than 50ish on a microSD card.
Last time my 16GB SD card crapped out on me, and I lost lots of pictures and videos from a trip.
As far as 16GB class 10, it could be nice depending on the price....

Ordered, thanks.
Class is just the minimum the data transfer's are rated to run at, not the maximum that the actual card can run. So my Class 2 could run at Class 6 speeds, but not garaunteed to do so.
Thanks for the great link though, gonna grab one!

ps- I took a chance based on the reviews, but the price was right and it hasn't given me any problems, yet.

I honestly don't think a lot of these high class less quality SD cards are worth it. As mentioned earlier in this thread, the class is only minimum. It also doesn't take into consideration the longevity of the card. I bought the 32gb patriot (Class 10) from new egg and it totally when bad on me after 3 weeks. I lost some important info (backup up most). Was able to luckily return it just under the 4 week limit newegg has for returns. Not to mention the speed was really no different that I could notice compared to the stock SD card. I'm probably going to get the Sandisk soon since it's the only brand that I trust.
Im looking to get a new 32g sd card whats the best one to get. I've been using my 8g sd card for about 2 years now I never had problems just want a 32g.

I bought the 32gb that Verizon sells today for $99. It was regularly $149 but its on sell right now. Its still kind of pricey, but I really like it. Doesn't slow anything down, and now I can put more music and movies on my phone. You can get the same card on Ebay for around $65 right now. It's a SanDisk brand and Ive always had good luck with them.
I need a 32gb my 16 is full I keep having to delete old stuff and store it on my computer. I want to keep everything on my phone.

lol. u meant for sensation right?..i was like damn, what sd card is this thats a substitute for a phone?
bt anyway, really 16gb or 32gb is a personal preference, you cant ask that since we dont know how much music/movies/games/whatever ur gonna have..
personally, i got a class 6(which should really do what it needs to in this phone) instead of 10 as i believe a class 10 won't really make a difference plus the class 6 was a lil cheaper..
i guess we'll find out tho since i pick up my sensation on the 12th

Yup.
I have a class 8 4GB - Never needed more. Maybe 8GB would be good, for when I shoot a lot of videos, but the main thing I use the phone for is just talking/browsing/flashing/flashing/flashing(I am addicted to that)/texting and such. Nothing that uses the SD card, other than my titanium backup and a place to put my ROMs on.

ha indeed I meant "for the sensation". Speed is more important to me than size. I want to wait the least amount of time to capture the next photo or to view my music/photo libraries.
So no difference between class 6 and 10? I had heard class 10 cards don't work on andorid devices. This seems to be bunk info?

well there prolly isnt that much of a diff in this phone..personally, im content with a class 6 and i dont feel like paying more for a class 10 is worth it. But class 10 cards do work on android devices.
check out this thread for some input http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072839
as some people have commented here that a class 2 recorded and played 1080p videos with no lag and such..and others obtaining low speeds on their class 10 cards...plus it also differs on the card manufacturer as most with the same classes have diff speeds.
I was curious about this myself so I emailed HTC tech support and they told me "There's no benefit to getting a Class 10 card; the phone will only read/write between Class 2 and Class 4 speeds. Thus, there's no real reason to spend the extra money for a Class 10 card". That's a bummer if it's true.
I went looking for a microSD card over the weekend and was really disappointed in the prices I found. A lot of the deals were already sold out at Fry's and CompUSA (Tiger Direct).
I'd like to start this thread to help others (and me ) find the best deals on expanded memory for our phones.
Any good finds?
This 16BG class 10 card was on sale this weekend at Fry's for around $10, but it was gone by 9:30 on Saturday morning.

AmazonBasics cards are cheap and great quality
You may want to look into getting Sandisk branded cards instead of just any old card.
Some of the class 10 cards out there have atrocious small block random read/write speeds, and that has been a major issue for the Nook Color world. That being said, we aren't running a complete OS off the SD card on our skyrockets, but even running apps off the card may cause speed issues.
Nook Color SD Card Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005633
All of the benchmark data in that thread summarized into a google docs spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjPE3ZAD2eVudE9vZmQ3aHlfTkFvU2J4ZUplRDJQTEE
I can't vouch for any cards other than what I've seen -- Class 10 Patriot, Class 10 A-Data, 3x Class 4 SanDisks, and an unmarked SanDisk. Everything (including the unmarked SanDisk) except for the Class 2/4 SanDisks were atrocious in running a SD card based OS on my Nook. My Class 4 SanDisks benchmarked somewhere between 20x and 40x faster than the other cards for small block writes.
This is my card, AmazonBasics 16 GB microSDHC Class 10 Flash Memory Card with SD Adapter

This is not the first time I have heard the Sandisk 64Gb microsd works after a reformat. Now they are down to $150 for a class 6 and I am seriously about to try one out.

I don't know if it would make much difference, but I guess that would depend on how fast you need to write to the card.
The other issue is whether the phone would support higher write speeds anyway.
If you can afford it,you could always buy one and try it.

In my experience, the random read / write sores are the most important when using in a phone for ruining apps and such. My class 4 SanDisk totally outperforms my class 10 card.

Anyone buying this?
Just checking the user reviews: Pic is of Class 4 but there are differing reviews about receiving Class 2 or Class 4 cards.
Where is the seller stating the class of the card, aside from the pics?
I recommend getting the SanDisk class 4 over wintec class 10 I bought 3 16gb cards last year, and both class 2 sandisks outperformed class 10 wintec in every benchmark, especially random read/write speed. SanDisk was 4 times faster. And I did not get a defective wintec. Mine tested the same as others. Both SanDisk I got preform over class 10 speeds, and many others get the same results with SanDisk.

class 4 has better read/write than a class 10. For us that's better BC we have tons of photos, music, apps. Etc all of which are small files when compared to full length movies n such. That's why a class 4 is better than a class 10.

bull**** man class 10 have much better read/write, because it's just faster... if u want better performance, on SAME CARD, i mean on one class 4, and second same u have bad feeling - u need to change allocation size unit - only here is difference for files. Believe me, i have 4 cards for now. Class 10 (in phone), class 4, class 8, and one no-name (without class?) and best of all is class 10.
It's just imposible that class 4 can be better than class 10...
and at the end:
1. u using your card only for phone? Coz when i get full card in my camera - i can easy change it to card from phone, and it's just better...
2. even if class 4 have better read/write (but this is just impossible) why u care? Except price, why? U can't record videos in real HD on this phone, because phone is not made for recording vids... and this is only one reason why u need better read/write... even on class 2 u can play games without any errors or something..
So class 4 sells cheaper than a class 10 because it's a much better card. Makes a lot of sense! ;D
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Class 4 does not have a better read/write speed than a class 10, but to achieve class 10 speeds (10MB+/second write speed), you sacrifice random access speed. A slow random access speed impacts things like playing music or looking at pictures.
There is really no need to get a class 10 for a phone unless you're seriously that impatient when it comes to copying your few gigs over the first time you use it.
There was a HUGE thread about classes and it came down to Class 4 being the better choice for mobile phones. For more information just look for threads on the subject and see what has to he said.

Thankyou for informing us about this amazing deal.
Got my 32GB Sandisk Class 4 today, took UPS two days to ship. As for the card, it writes at about 2MBs to 3.6MBs, so it's clearly not a class 4. I bought a 16GB Sandisk a while back, it's write speeds were also supposedly class 4 but were abysmal. While this card is adequate, it's the last Sandisk I'll be buying. Kingston all the way, I've bought multiple 4GBs and 8GBs from them, each card was faster than it's rating.
Edit: Too be clear, I'm not betching about it being Class 2 plus or minus, but I don't like being lied to.
