I'm a noob to this so if I come off sounding ignorant please forgive. It looks as though the G Tab may be coming to an end of life from Viewsonic. I'm looking to purchase one and am wondering something. It looks like the custom ROMs all come from people changing ROMs from other devices that use the Tegra-2 chipset. Is that the most common factor? I mean, there are a TON of new tablets coming that use the Tegra-2. Would it be possible that some of these new devices will have their ROMs ported to the G-Tab? I know we will not "know" until these new devices arrive, but can someone with more experience making custom ROMs than me chime in on it?
thanks.

Does anyone know when custom roms will come to 2nd gen devices?
There are custom ROM's for second gen HTC's on the way if DFT can get a few things worked out, and if things keep going well there will be custom ROM's for Nokia Lumi 710's and some 800's.
More specifically:
Unlocking the SPL for gen2 HTC phones is underway, but hacks like that take time and some luck, so there's really no way to know in advance when it will happen. Once it does, though, custom ROMs should be easy to make (lots of experience with HTC).
Technically, custom ROMs for the first Lumias are already available. They're just very simple right now (inter-unlock and not much else, although somebody claims they have a full-unlock one now).
Is there any rom like UltimaROM? I looked at it and it looks like a really good rom! Is it possible if it can be ported?
There isn't even a ported stock international S3 rom for this phone. Lately there has been an uptick of people asking about international s3 ports for this phone. I told another person who posted something like this the other day that the hardware have to be similar in order to make porting possible. It is very difficult to port something meant for one device to another so if the hardware is similar in both devices it makes it easier.
Hi everyone, I'm sorta new to Android and rom-flashing, so here are my questions:
Baseline Question: Which ROM is the best: Cyanogenmod, Paranoid Android, or AOKP?
So, I obviously googled this question and the same answer I keep getting is that each rom delivers a different user experience and that the answer depends on the person and that you should just try out each one. But recently I came to know of Pacman Rom, which claims to encompass all three of these roms (and more)...so now for my real question.. It seems super awesome that Pacman Rom encompasses all three of these roms, but if it's so good, why isn't everyone on it already? Meaning, is there any reason that I'm missing as to why some people prefer to stick to a particular one instead of this awesome-seeming rom? Just curious as to whether I should flash this or stay with Cyanogenmod.
I can imagine reasons like Pacman Rom may not be available for as wide a range of phones, etc., but any other reasons for why or why not? Thanks in advance guys!
My Phone Currently: Samsung Galaxy S3 T-999 4.1.2 Cyanogenmod 10.1

The answer to this is really the same as your original question
"So, I obviously googled this question and the same answer I keep getting is that each rom delivers a different user experience and that the answer depends on the person and that you should just try out each one."
It's all personal taste and personal wants/needs. I suggest you read through the thread for the ROM in your device section and if it looks appealing to you then flash it and try it out. If you don't like it, you can always go back to what you were using or try out something else
Hi all,
I was wondering wheter there are any custom recovery available het for the g flex 2.
Haven't seen any het, so i was wondering if any of you have seen any.
Haven't seen any yet either. I know pretty much everyone so far has been having a sub par experience with this phone, but with specs like these, once we get custom ROM's this phone is going to be one hell of a beast. Personally, I only bought this phone for the hardware, not LG's horrible take on Android. If we could just get AOSP already I would be sooo happy.
Hi everyone. I'd like to know, where are the best resources on porting ROMs to devices? I'd like to figure out how to port ROMs to my device, but first I need to decide whether or not I have enough time to spend on doing that. Also, I'm not sure about which is a better approach: should I base my ports on ROMs that are made for the same device with a different chipset, or should I base my ports on ROMs made for the same chipset but different device? (What I really mean is, should I port a ROM from Exynos S10 to Snapdragon S10, or port it from an other SD855 build to my Snapdragon S10?) What is the process like, or is there some kind of a general process I can document myself on?
Do you guys think it's realistic, given that I'm not looking to actually make a custom ROM but to port one? Or is this too big a bite to chew on? I'm of the opinion that I could learn almost anything given I spend enough time on it, so it's why I'd like to have a good general idea of the process. I like the idea of being able to be proactive and making sure the stuff I want to happen for my device actually happens.
