What's ZW Fascinate stock kernel? - Fascinate Accessories

Hi, I'm not new to rooting/flashing. My sister-in-law wants her Fascinate to be faster and lag free. So I'm here to help her but got questions. Is EB01 the stock kernel? I'm looking a stock kernel + voodoo. She's gonna wait for offical release of 2.2 on her phone so I'm looking for 2.1 stock + voodoo. But if I have too, I can flash a 2.2 ROM and tell her that VZW can screw.
Please and thanks in advance.

EB01 is the version of the latest leak of 2.2, not the version of a kernel.
Search the Development forum for Voodoo. There are quite a few Voodoo kernels out there for 2.1. The ones from jt1134 are pretty popular. Also, adrynalyne has some test kernels available. I was using his Test 5 (non-voodoo) for quite a while and it was pretty stable. There are other developers with Voodoo kernels as well, so look through the search results and figure out what you like best.
The one thing to keep in mind is that some of the newer 2.1 kernels are only compatible with the latest officially released firmware (DL09). You might need to upgrade her phone (OTA) before proceeding with adding these newer 2.1 kernels.
There is a Voodoo kernel available for 2.2 currently, but you would have to upgrade everything to 2.2 (i.e. EB01). There is a thread for it by jt1134, and it's a stock 2.2 kernel with Voodoo and custom boot animation support.

[Q] Any word on 2.3.3 compatible kernels?

Just curious if anyone was working on one. I'm sure someone is but ya know... I'm all sortsa impatient. I have a feeling that a rom based on stock 2.3 with an optimized OC kernel will be smoother and faster than Cyanogen Mod based roms. I'm looking forward to finding out.
no because source has not been released

installing the Xboarders56 rom on G2x

im a newb so my bad if ths sound kind of dumb ... but can i install the Xboarders56 tweaked 1.2.2 on my G2x or the gingerbead update V1.0.0 rom if im running on 2.2.2??????????? how and where do u get the right kernels as well..would appreciate the info
You can. Assuming you have CWM on your device (http://bit.ly/r119F8)
Different kernels do different things, for xboarders ROM there are techinally 2 kernels:
1. The one that comes with it when you flash (install) it: the stock gingerbread kernel
2. Faux's kernel; the latest version can be found at his twitter (http://bit.ly/pMb2kz) (if you don't want to dig through his twitter, latest version here http://bit.ly/qccGDt)
Faux's kernel allows overclocking which increases your devices processor speed. You'll want to install an application like setCPU to overclock.
if you do the LG update you will get the new baseband which cant hurt then it is even easier to root and you get improved service I think.

Thoughts on I997UCKJ2 leak...

Out of sheer curiousity here...With the new leak having bootloaders and a proper GB kernel, would it be beneficial to start developing custom kernels with CWM recovery or do you think to much would change from this leak to the official? Would enough change to make development with the leaked kernel a waste of time?
And are the new bootloaders backwards compatible with the current custom kernels and roms we already have? Trying to get an idea of what we have here before I jump in and start flashing!

I'm not sure if the devs will jump on this just yet but it would be easier to just wait for official I'm sure, official GB is really close. As for backwards compatability, if you look through the thread , I'm pretty sure someone used the bootloaders on S7...
No source code till the official release goes out . Cwm can be scripted in, supercurio used to do it for some sgs phones with lagfix and sometimes sound but what do toy really need cwm for? I mean of you are running the leak you probably know how to flash without cwm. Also there seems to be a wifi fox from entropy for the 2.3.3 Rogers kernels now so you may be able to run the leak with a kernel with many enhancements with only hdmi not working till sources drop.

[Q] Clockwork and Lagfix for stock 2.2

Anyone know of a current kernel with clockworkmod and lagfix for stock froyo 2.2?
I've recently flashed back to stock since stock 2.3.3 has bugs and I haven't had luck with custom roms.
I'm fine with stock froyo but hate the massive lag it has.

This man is simply a genius...

[Q] kernel is not updated after upgrade

i upgraded to this version (the latest one)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508619
i see that rom's version ha upgraded to 2.3.6 the modem
was upgraded to uclb3
but the kernel is
if i tried the sgs flasher with the zimage from the same thread the kernel went to uclb3
but the the cwm didn't work, got error in the recovery 3e ,
dont' thave enough permitions
but all the root functions work well (getting sys folder end etc.. )
Thank
you can't have cwm and a 2.3.6 kernel at the same time. nobody with the knowledge have repacked the ram bootdisk into a stock kernel with access to cwm. when source code is available we will likely see new kernels with cwm. now there is a shortage of kernel developers and none that want to waist the time before an update is official and final because it may become obsolete in a week anyway.
what is the latest version with cwm?
thanks a lot!
what is the latest version of infuse with cwm working?
and where can i find the changes between all the versions
between 2.3.5 to 2.3.6
and from kernel uxkg3 to uclb3 ?
thanks again!

2.3.3 is the latest kernel version with source code. att never released source. ode even though they updated to 2.3.6. they have been playing games it seems.
the changes in android versions are minor. most don't actually apply to the infuse. things like support for wimax and video function in gtalk are things listed in the changelog in Wikipedia which obviously did not make it into the infuse roms. the only thing that might apply is the battery enhancements in 2.3.5. other than that it is mostly a number. the truth is that it more designates which version of the nexus s it was developed for than specific improvement.
