Second question if i root is that like unlocking a windows mobile device. And if so can you use a rom update utility to flash a new os say like cyanogen running android 2.2 with flash is this possible. I have unlocked and flashed phones before windows mobile i would think the same principals would apply here since its a similar device can any one help me? I know that on the htc touch pros you can download haret for android 2.2 and use gen y dual boot loader. Cant something like that also be placed on this there has to be a way even if you root and someone has the galaxy tab image that could be flashed on so full 2.2 and flash 10.1 and official android market. And those haret files have a working google market..

Hi !
i just bought a used samsung galaxy nexus s . When i bought the phone its Android version was 2.3.1 and build was GRH78. I search alot but every time save the update file in SD card and run it from the recovery menu some error used to appear. How after alot of search on the internet i found one update file which was from GRH78 (Android 2.3.1) to GRH78C (Android 2.3.2). This upgrade was successful.
But now again i am searching for the upgrade file to update my phone to Android 4.0.4 . I found update file from GRH78c to latest build but none of them is working on my phone.
My phone is currently with the following upgrade version. Plz see this and help me in it. I will be very much thankful to you all out there.
Model Number : Nexus s
Android Version : 2.3.2
Baseband Version : M200KRKD1
Build number GRH78C
Also tell me that is it possible to upgrade my phone with the above version to Android 4.0.4?
And how can i upgrade this phone using custom ROMs available on the internet?

Click to collapse
Is it unlocked? Rooted?
Yes, your device is completely capable of flashing and upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) and even Jelly Bean (4.1.2).
While there are two ways to do that but since you already mentioned that you want to use Custom ROMs available on net, then this guide is the solution to it.
It will help you unlock your bootloader and Install a custom Recovery which in turn will enable you to flash custom ROMs on your device.
You can choose a Custom ROM which meets your requirements available here in Nexus S Android Development Section.

I've an android Tablet with Android OS 2.3.0, without an upgrade option. In order to update the OS, I decided to root it, but could not find the correct exploit for it. I've got an Android 4.3 iso, can I upgrade my OS with it? If yes, then how?
