Hey everyone.
So I'm going to full wipe the phone for some re-flashing but after countless hours spent on Gun Bros I so don't want to lose that save
I've been searching some myself but have yet to find any save game location on the internal or external memory.
Does anyone know if there is any way to backup your save game before a full wipe as you can't sync it with facebook on android?
So it kinda looks like I found the answer for my myself
Everything is stored in
data/data/com.glu.andriod.gunbro-free/
on my Droid bionic, I am looking for a /data/data/com.glu ....
and I do not have one. there is only one folder in /data/data
and its not the gunbro game.
Where/how can I find the save data. I also want to do a factory default
reset, but I dont want to loose my data.
thanks for the help.

whats the best way to backup apps setting and Saved games ? for example angry birds how to back the save game up ? ...thanks
I was going to start my own topic but its pretty much just a more detailed version of this question so I'll try here first
I've heard of a number of backup utilities but last time I used a backup(couldn't use titanium at the time because I wasn't rooted) it simply saved the app info then linked me to market to redownload after I wiped my phone
This presents two problems the first being that user data isn't saved and second what happens for apps that are no longer available on the market?
My question is what the best way to save user data and apps, and people rarely mention the actual restore process, which method(if any) will store the data on my phone/sd card so i can simply restore them even if not on the market
And at very least when you back up a rom before wiping if the app you used to save your data doesn't work, does that rom backup save all settings, meaning it would be like I never wiped?
I've tried researching but thought i understood before I wiped and rooted last time and realized my user data wasn't saved and had to hunt down apks that were no longer on the market(i am rooted now)
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
anyone ?....
I'm about to root my new NS and every guide I see reminds me that the internal storage ("SD card") will be wiped - I'm cool with that. But since I'm unrooted I can't use Titanium yet to back up my apps.
So my question is - once I root, what's the best way to get everything back without manually doing everything all over again?

I see a lot of people say appbrain lets them easily reinstall all their apps after a wipe. Apps, but not app data.
Not sure how that works, i haven't tried it myself. edit: little google search revealed this on how to do it:
Without root, there's no way you're going to save your data that's on the internal storage space.

Yeah I just read some more about it - apparently it's just not at all possible yet, or ever.
Oh well better get to rooting before I have TOO much to lose.

Yeah, that's why I'm an early rooter on all my phones.
App developer's should be encouraged (or allowed by Google) to put their app data into someplace that the user can back up.
I wonder if the reason app data is put in a root-only read place of the device by default is part of the sand-boxing security.
Best backup before root
The only thing I really had to hunt for was to backup Angry Birds. Thankfully there's an app called Angry Cheaters that is both free and gives you save files for Angry Birds.
I just went through this process yesterday. Google actually saves most/all of your apps and will reinstall when you reenter you gmail address. It also restored my wifi passwords (in addition to obvious things like email/contacts). Just be careful if you have to wipe multiple times while exploring root that you let this process do its thing, it forgot a few apps that way. Thankfully appbrain had moved all of my previous apps to another list.
The only other thing I couldn't back up was some auto mileage data, so I just wrote that into notepad and called it a day.
Is there anything else you are specifically trying to get? I was really only focused on Angry Birds.
Hmmm here is a question/thought
If unlocking your bootloader whipes everything clean, would it be a possibility to run data harvesting apps on the device to get w.e data you lost back?
both on the "sd" and /data/data
I use an app called "rsync backup" ... it can generate a DSS key to install on your server of choice, and tell it to back up /mnt/sdcard/ ... the only thing it won't access on the USB Storage area is a folder called ".android_secure" ... but everything else copies just fine.
I routinely sync my phone with this app to my workstation at the office, and a system at home.
haha.. this is why i unlocked the bootloader/rooted my s right away, i didnt have any data to back up. makes it painless

Kinda wish i did this, but oh well.
Still curious if my idea is even possible..anyone have any input?
Sorry if this is off-topic but I'd really like to know if there's a way to do this.
I recently finished the Galaxy on Fire 2 storyline on easy and wanted to replay it on the hard setting (yes, I think it is THAT good )
So I started the game and in between I reflashed the newest version of Prime, having previously backed all up with TB.
Sadly (I have no clue why) TB failed on me and the folder was empty, fortunately I had also backed up the Android data folder on the internal SD where the GOF2 save files were so I copied them back... to my surprise the game saves were on the easy setting again!!!
So here's the question, does anyone know of a way to modifying the save files to set the game to hard without starting all over?
Thanks

Yeap, that's the only way. The easy way at least.
If you wanna go a little crazy check out data/private.data or something and find the app files, and delete it. it SHOULD be there. Well atleast it's somewhere in the data folder.
go to settings > application > where's my water > clear data
I have TB Pro and used it to back up NBA Jams. But after flashing a new rom, when I restore the app it goes back online to re-download the 300 megs or however big it is from EA's site. But more important, I lose my saved progress. I like this game a lot, but I'm constantly flashing new roms, so it's a PITA to have to start fresh on that game after each flash.I'm hoping there's some way to back up all the games data, but I'm coming up blank with my attempts.
Try to look for save game files on sd card, because they are usally stored there.
App data is typically stored in /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/[package-id]
(where [package-id] is typically something like "com.something.appname"). A few apps will store data in /data/data/[package-id], so check there too if it isn't on the sdcard.
I'm having a similar problem. Something went wrong with my phone and games started crashing, so I thought I'd give it a nice clean restart. So I reflashed my ROM and wiped everything including the SD card. Of course I did a nandroid backup first though and also made a backup copy of the SD card contents, so I should have all the data that was there before. For good measure, I also did an adb pull of /data/data/com.eamobile.nbajam_na_wf to extract those files separately so I don't have to try to extract them from the nandroid backup.
My phone works again and the games are working again, but now I'm having trouble restoring my NBA Jam progress.
Things I've tried:
1. Restoring the /sdcard/Android/com.eamobile.nbajam_na_wf files that didn't match what was on the SD card after reinstalling/playing NBA Jam. I was hoping whatever files were different would be the ones that had my saved data and it would work after this, but after doing this the game would crash when I try to view my challenges (sort of like it would before this whole ordeal, maybe my save data is just corrupted somehow).
2. Same as 1, but also restoring the /sdcard/.android_secure/(nba jam asec file, don't remember the exact name). Doing this seems to have really messed things up since the app's name and icon no longer display properly in the settings for applications.
3. Same as 1 and 2 except I also adb pushed my backup of /data/data/com.eamobile.nbajam_na_wf back over the files that were there, but it still doesn't seem to help, same results as 2.
So I ended up clearing the data and reinstalling NBA Jam again, so now it works but I don't have my save data... and like the first poster, I'd rather not lose my progress every time I flash a rom... So if anyone knows what I may have missed or has any other suggestions, please let me know!
EDIT: So it seems maybe my Challenges file is corrupted for some reason, it seems to be the one that causes problems.
FYI, these are the relevant files in /sdcard/Android/data/com.eamobile.nbajam_na_wf, they're filenames are actuallly pretty self-explanatory:
ChallengeDataFile
HighScoresDataFile
PlayNow
TeamUnlockDataFile
GameOptionSettingsDataFile
PlayerUnlockDataFile
Career
ClassicCampaignDataFile
Deleting all of them wipes your progress and doesn't seem to cause problems. I've been able to restore some of them without problems so far. But if I restore my ChallengeDataFile, it causes problems, so I guess I just gotta start over on my challenges.

Wow, 5 years later, game is still cool and EA still sucks at this...
