Upgrading firmware for Motorola Cliq

Currently i am using a Motorola cliq and i was told to upgrade my firmware to 1.6. I am currently running 1.5. does anyone know how to upgrade it? My phone is running slow! the tech guy at a tmobile gave me this web site and told me someone should be able to help me here... so please help!
there is no 1.6 roms for the cliq, there is a beta port of a cyanogen rom, but last i checked it was just useable(telephonicly, if thats a word) but lots still didnt work, moto has stated they will just do motoblur updates then jump to android 2.1

Anyone?

Hi guys, I am Markla709 aka Spencer. So, I am running a droid eris 2.1 un rooted un leaked and I tried rooting today. A dev told me that I have a new bootmenu or boot version so it wont work. I was curious, if you havent/not doing so already, if one of you geniuses could root android 2.1 on the new droid eris. I could pay you, possibly. Post here and I will get back to you ASAP.

[Q] Upgrading Android OS from Fission

I wasn't able to find a similar thread to what I was asking.
I recently installed Fission 2.4.3 on my D2G, works great, really happy with it. Noticed it's still running Android 2.2.
Is it possible to upgrade the actual Android OS that Fission runs on? Or does the Fission ROM actually come packaged with whatever version of Android they have tested/stabilized with? I wasn't sure if they were tightly coupled or if I was expected to upgrade myself or whathaveyou.
Thanks.
Fission 2.4.3 is based on android 2.2, as that is the latest OS out for our phones. until 2.3 is released by motorola, we are all stuck on 2.2 for the time being. also i wouldnt hold my breath for 2.3 on D2G any time soon.
and to answer your last question, no. Fission IS the 2.2 ROM, so when 2.3 is released, another fission rom will be req to flash

[Q] Rooting a droid x with latest update

I am going to trade in my Droid A855 for a refurbed Droid X at Verizon. Assuming it has the latest post 2.2 build on it, what would be the best way to root it once I get it, assuming it can be done?

z4root is probably your best bet, which can be found here on XDA.
Do it
z4root.apk is the best and easy way of doing it. also official firmware is 2.2.1 but there is a leaked gingerbread 2.3.3 running amazing way better then 2.2.1. you will hate 2.2 but moto did a really nice job on 2.3. its very easy to root and flash
