Change landscape orientation? - G Tablet General

Hello all,
Does anyone knows if there is way to change the screen orientation in landscape? Because currently, my hands blocks the speakers.
It would be nice to play games upside down so my hands doesn't gets in the way.
Regards,
Thiago Souza

I answered this in another thread a couple minutes ago.
Depends on your ROM. If you don't mind switching to CM7, it will automatically rotate upside-down when you flip the tablet. Aside from that, someone said ADW Launcher is capable of doing this. However, an issue might be that games automatically orient themselves based on how the tablet is meant to be held.

Touch Pro in landscape

Hello Touch Pro owners,
I'm sure this question has been asked, and I'm sorry if it has, but...
one of the things that drives me crazy with the Hermes is the glitchy landscape view. Sometimes while in landscape, it decides to switch back to portrait, and sometimes doesn't go into landscape at all. If you were a Hermes user, you know what i'm talking about. I was hoping 6.1 would fix that, but is hasn't.
Do any of you have issues with the Touch Pro?
I surely didn't, when the keyboard was open it went to landscape and stayed there, and when it slid closed it popped back to portrait and stayed there as well. Same for applications, turn the device sideways it flips, turn it back it flips back.. Not 1 issue.

Actually, I don't; I'm still using my 8525, waiting for the "Fuze," and I don't recall ever seeing anything like that in the 19 months I've had it. I think you have a bum unit.
Have you applied new themes and customization tools (like Diamond Config)? Mine was perfect until I started applying a lot of the themes and tweaks. Now I'm having that issue. I plan on loading a cooked ROM once my travel is done. In the mean time, I have found it easier to use the virtual keyboard.
Don't think it's a bum unit, I've had a few and it's the same. I think it's most likely the shells I load. (spb and now the TF2d). I usually don't tweak and never OC the unit. But I do occassionaly load a cooked Rom, and I see the same things.
For example: I'll be emailing or texting in landscape, if I get any kind of alert, it switches to portrait and sticks there until I close it then open it again.
It's not a big deal, I've been dealing with it for awhile and still love the 8525, but Im upgrading to the Pro in a few weeks and I'm hoping I wont see this. I just expect the unit to be locked in landscape when the keyboard is pulled out no matter what shell I'm using, especially tf2d or 3d.

Screen Orientation Suggestion

Firstly, thanks so much for all the work you guys did and shared here.
I've noticed that the default screen orientation is landscape for VEGAn-Tab and probably for TnT Lite also, which brings all the games with tilting control useless. It's also a headache for people who got used to portrait screen on phones (eg. reading in bed while placing the tab on side). Is there a way to change the default orientation to portrait in some Mod version? Or there is a way to fix this already that I didn't realize?
Saying "default at landscape" I mean when you lock the orientation/shut the auto rotate or start a game, the screen locks at landscape. For example, while playing those racing game or so, we have to tilt front/back to actually control the car to left/right -_-
Thanks!
Some games actually work, so I think the general understanding is that other games have something hardcoded incorrectly, for tablets. This is also the reason why the vendors themselves haven't fixed this, yet.
There is a way to rotate the screen to portrait, in Froyo. But, the calibration is totally borked, when you do that.

Home screen rotation.

First: I know it's standard for the home screen not to rotate or go into landscape. I'm not asking how I can get it.
Second: I am NOT looking for suggestions on how to get it, so please don't say [this] launcher can do it, download it [here].
Third: There is no third.
So I've got a Thunderbolt and so does a friend. She really wanted the home screen to rotate and I told it it won't happen. Well, she just came and showed me hers rotating! She said she kicked the stand out, set it on her desk and it rotated to landscape! Mine definitely, as it's supposed to, does not rotate.
I did a quick Google search and could only find on thread on the Android Central boards with people saying it's rotating for them. Then a bunch of people starting blabbing about other launchers that will let you. That has no relevance to the situation at hand, we all know third party home launchers usually give that option. Others also mentioned bringing the keyboard out, but holding down menu on the home screen doesn't even do that, so that's a no-go either. Plenty of stupid people on the internet...
They did however mention the stock background may be a common thing, and also the mention of widgets got me intrigued. However, I don't have any non-stock widgets on mine. I have however changed the background and the skin. She hasn't. We both have auto-rotate on in the settings.
Other than that, I'm at a loss! Is anyone else able to get the home screen to rotate?
some launchers such as launcher pro and ADW launcher allow the homescreens to rotate into landscape mode. so you very likely saw someone running launcher pro.
[Mod Edit] Did you read? I hate to come across like an asshole but I made it VERY clear that it's NOT a home launcher. It's stock as I said, and I am VERY aware that 3rd party home launchers allow rotation.
Great attitude to have when asking a q on a forum.
Ot: my homescreen rotates but I'm using launcher pro.

My stock home screen rotates when docked in the car dock. I think this is how most that say theirs rotate are referring too

Yeah, that could have been what they were referring to as well.
From my understanding it's just a magnet in the dog that enables the dock mode. My friend didn't say anything about the dock app launching up, or anything other than she just popped out the kick stand, set it on it's side and the homescreen rotated. It is possible it opened and she backed out of it without thinking about it.
But even after she picked it up and closed the stand it kept doing it. Maybe her phone somehow got tricked into thinking it was docked the whole time... ?
Default
Do you mean that when she turns the phone on its side the screen also rotates to landscape? If so, this is just an option in the settings menu. To auto-rotate the home screen.

that only rotates the screen in menus and not the physical homescreen as if you had a keyboard present and slide it out

[Q] Issues with standard android apps & games on Xoom - Any Solutions?

Hello,
I have noticed on certain standard android apps a number of issues that I have come across. I have tried with auto-rotation on and off of screen in settings. I have restarted my Xoom also. I don't have any of these issues with any of the tablet apps.
1. First off Jetcar Stunts, and Return Zero the menus are normal and function fine, but when you go into a race the screen looks like it is tilted at 45 degree angle. If you turn your Xoom vertical, the screen will level out, but you are looking at the car on the left side of the screen.
2. Several racing games TurboFly 3d and couple of others I cant think off of the top of my head work fine and the screen is in the right position, but to when you tilt to the left it turns the car to right, and vise verse the other way. The turning controls have been switched.
3. Adao File Manager, Adao Uninstaller, ishoot, and Medieval Castle retain their original size of an android phone. Is there any way to zoom in or have these apps stretched to fit the screen? The ipad lets you view iphone apps standard size and stretched size.
Anybody experiencing these problems, or have any solutions?
Thank you for your input.

Install "Spare Parts" free from the market.. Open it and uncheck the box for compatibility mode... Might not fix every issue as some things just refuse to run on HoneyComb yet but it should fix some of them. It will absolutely fix your last section where the apps don't fill the screen.
The problem is not you, or anything you did. The issue is honeycomb. Not all apps are compatable yet. It was like trying to run a win xp app on win 7 when it first dropped. Didnt work. Just wait. They will be updated eventually.
Thank you,
The spare parts helped with the apps that was stuck in their native resolution. It now fills the whole screen.
Yep... I'm waiting, too... seems Napster, SiriusXM, and my banks' apps aren't even showing up as installable on my Xoom - but they all show up on my Pure running XDAndroid! (waiting for July so I can upgrade to a real Android phone ).
I immediately put this all down to the fact that Honeycomb is so new, the devs didn't have opportunity to build versions compatible with it... yet.
But... this begs a question... I'd love to be able to copy the .apk's from apps I directly-installed on my XDAndroid port, onto the Xoom and see if they'll run anyway... but I can't seem to find the apk's. Being a noob on Android still, can anyone tell me how I can get a hold of these app files, or does the Market simply download, install, and delete?
Thanks...

Rotating to Landscape for Incoming Call & Dialler

Hi everyone,
I'm really new to this so go easy! Also, I'm sorry if this type of question has been posted already. I have looked around and can't find anything that fits the topic.
I'm using the HTC Desire HD and use this a lot for navigation whilst driving. I use the navigation app in landscape mode and my in car holder is landscape. I have recently posted on here to get my Spotify to work in landscape as well so it is really easy to use in the dock.
However, I receive phone calls and the incoming call screen then flips to portrait. This means I have to tilt my head to the side to view the call! This is also a problem whilst using the dialler.
I use Launcher Pro and the home screen rotates to landscape so I thought the dialler and incoming call screen would do the same. Seems not.
I have seen apps where the dialler uses landscape modes, this solves a part of the issue. I am really wanting to be able to set the phone up so everything is landscape when tilted this way. I want the dialler and incoming call screen to do the same as the rest of my phone does when tilted in this direction.
Any help would be much appreciated, I am willing to learn and look into the coding if this is what is required.
Thanks.
I search the same solution for it. I have a dockstation in landscape and i search how rotate the screen when I receive a incoming call.
Thanks ^^
I had the landscape call working for me in my Desire HD with Android Revolution ROM, but somehow i lost this function and i can't figure out how to get it back to work. It was very handy to use when driving, and has also the option on a button to has someone else to the cal.
Hope we find the solution soon !!
