Global2 Stock Wallpapers - Droid 2 Global General

I finally got rid of motoblur but I do miss some of the stock wallpapers that came on the phone, specifically the speeding train. Anyone know how I can get them back with out having to go back to motoblur?

Best ROM for me?

I keep trying to find a froyo ROM since I'm still on stock eclair 2.1 even though I bought my captivate on release date. There seems to be no ROM out there that doesn't try to shove their theme/style/apps down your throat. I just want a fast ROM that looks like default, preferably with TouchWIZ because I'm used to it and the music app, lockscreen, app launcher are awesome. I haven't been on the forums for a long time so I'm assuming ATT still didn't bother updating to 2.2 either.
Any suggestions?
I believe cognition is what your looking for since it is built off the leaked att captivate rom. I'm no expert but I think on most roms (pretty sure I've seen this) you have the option to use touchwiz when you go back to home it will ask complete action with and give a list of launchers and you can select to have that launcher always used.
Hopefully others will chime in but that's what I would do if I was you but for me I like the launchers and themes of the other rims.

Just get GTGtwlauncher with any rom. You can download and apply with SGStools.
Should be what you want

Ah, I see. Thanks guys.

[Q] Question on Flashing Roms - not a how to

Is there a way to (or an app) that keeps your home pages the same from ROM to ROM?
I have my phone set up the way I like it but everytime I flash a new ROM (Im still a newbie only flashed 5 so far) I have to spend what feels like hours getting everything back the way it was.
Figured I would ask as I am possibly reflashing a ROM later today. Using Kings Alliance and love it but having problems. If I cant get them fixed I will wipe and reflash again - unless anyone knows of another ROM that's similar and real stable with good battery life?
Im on an EVO 4G if that matters.
Thanks
What launcher are you using? You can back up the homescreen layout so you wouldn't have to spend time dragging and dropping things back to where they were.

[Q] Get me off of 2.3.3!

EVO Shift
I had CM7 running and my speaker phone broke. Meaning I needed to take it in, so I ran RUU and put it all back, I noticed that OTA 2.3.3 update and I was like "eh what the hell" and ran it. Thought it was cool and everything, and I fixed the speaker myself (Sprint was closed). Now I see some bugs with it, like the constant HTC Sense reboot or some glitches with messaging, and I miss my CM7.
I.. can not get off of this. I can not RUU and then root for CM7, I can not root 2.3.3! I used this temp root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185243
and tried getting really creative and combining other guides in order to install clockwork so I can get my nandroid backup of CM7 restored, to no avail....
How can I simply just go back to 2.2 (froyo) I am sick of this..... is there a newer RUU or anything that can get me off [email protected]%ing Gingerbread?!
ALL and ANY help is GREATLY appreciated!
Your pretty much stuck until perm root is found.. There's no way to roll back to Froyo, it's been discussed in several different threads.
Shoot, sorry really tired and I probably should have used the search feature. I can deal with it for a bit I suppose.
Off topic but how did you get the back off your phone to replace the speaker? I bought a replacement for mine but can't seem to get the back off without feeling like I'm gonna break it!

[Q] For pity's sake, all I want is Android

Yes, I am a complete noob. With a new HTC Sensation my very first contact with Android, a couple of days ago. And bloodshot eyes from hours and hours and hours and hours of reading through endless conversations about custom ROMS and S-OFF flags and temporary roots and so on, all of which has taught me that I can permanently root my phone with "Revolutionary" if I want to, but which still hasn't told me whether this would achieve anything beyond voiding my warranty.
All I want to do is get rid of HTC's "Sense". I just want plain, ordinary, vanilla Android on my phone. In my ignorance I thought this would be easy once the phone was rooted; but the more I've read about the procedures involved in rooting this thing, the more concerned I've become that I can't see any evidence of a follow-up procedure for wiping HTC's modifications and installing a "clean" Android. This "CyanogenMod" ROM so many of you seem to be waiting for doesn't look like stock Android to me: it looks like another bunch of modifications to replace HTC's. Am I missing something here? Is vanilla Android achievable via root simply by uninstalling "Sense"? From what I've read it looks more like I need to install Gingerbread from scratch, but if this is so, where is it?!
I loathe unnecessary bloatware (and run Slackware largely for that reason), but at least HTC's "Sense" seems polished and relatively bug-free. I don't particularly like it, but it works. If rooting my phone is only going to enable me to replace it with someone else's buggier and less polished bloatware, I'm not sure that it's worth it. After all these hours I think I've finally compiled a list of steps that will, if I follow them, leave me with a rooted HTC Sensation. Is there, somewhere, a guide to installing plain vanilla Android once this has been done? If not, is there any good reason why I shouldn't just learn to love "Sense" and keep my warranty intact?
Cyanogen mod is basically stock android with more features such as the cpu over clocking, different lock screen styles, adw launcher, etc. If you want the aosp launcher then you can download go launcher and turn on the 3d app drawer or get the gb luancher. If your looking for a bone stock gingerbread rom I don't know if that exists outside of the nexus forums, but Cyanogen is better then bone stock aosp anyways.

CM7 is close to AOSP but your right it has some added features, NOTHING like sense though basically its AOSP with a few added features like theme chooser lock screen button music control (when your phone is screen off with music playing you can change the track by holding volume up, pause with camera button) CM7 is basically AOSP a side from those types of mods. As of right now there is no offical "vinilla" android roms for the sensation.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
This rom has a "sense-less" version but it is still a "sense" ROM and kernal just with the sense bloat ripped out and replaced with Gingerbread 3D launcher.
Basically you have to be patient CM7 is coming shortly and I am sure once it lands people will strip it of the CM7 goodies and make a vinilla ROM out of it. As for rooting its what gives you the ability to flash different ROMS and remove sense and bloat ect. So you must root to do anything you want to do. The rooting procedure for the Sensation is MUCH easier then root for the G2/MyTouch 4G aside from entering a Beta key and flashing SU after Revolutionary does its deal its basically a one click precuder. Where as with the MyTouch it was a lot of code entering in Terminal and stuff it sucked!
The long short of it is ROOT, WAIT, FLASH (AOSP OR CM7) ENJOY! Waiting though is the ulimate KEY!
If you can't wait for a little while, download ADW launcher from the market. It will give you a stock feel over Sense. It won't replace it, but it will make you feel better for the time being.

[Q] Drop-down menu widgets?

Hey guys. I switched from my slow, glitchy, and just aging captivate to the nexus S a few days ago, and I love it.
There are a couple things I miss though - the big one being the quick setting widgets in the drop down menu. I don't care if it's an app/widget from the market, or something I have to flash in to the rom. I just want those settings up there.
Is there a way to add those without flashing another rom? I like stock gingerbread (and I'll be switching to ICS when it comes out OTA for 9020A) and I don't want to flash a custom rom like CM or something. I'm rooted, but other than that I'm stock 2.3.6.
Other things I miss are a predictive dialer, and swype. If you can help me out there too I'd be greatly appreciative!
Edit: Oh, and the music controls shown in the menu would be nice too! (but only if it will work for google music)
When I moved to the NS from a Vibrant I felt the same way. There is no way to do it without some modding and I don't remember ever seeing a simple flashable zip to add it to GB. I ended up having a love hate relationship with CM7 but have moved to ICS and there is a mod to add it to some ICS roms in the dev section. I have yet to bother adding it.
Anyway, yes it can be done but not without some flashing or modding but if you aren't wanting to do that you are out of luck.
You can get similar functionality to pics with widget locker or extended controls, you get an icon or space in the status bar though. GB doesn't support it.
Music widget as above is available in stock ics too.

I really like stock, but I can flash if I *have* to... I've had a love hate relationship with CM myself, I felt like it took a little too much effort to keep up and running.. With the Google apps packs, and the nighties and constant backing up and flashing, you know. Is CM up to ICS for the Nexus S 9020a yet?
I also recently came from the captivate. I was also determined to stay stock and wait for the ics ota but....
The development for the ns is light years ahead of what you and I were used to and i am impressed after flashing a pretty much stock ics rom with a custom kernel. No toggles in the drop down but it sure is nice having everything working like it should. Fast and smooth! Peter Alphonso's ics
Eugene's Speedy 3 kernel
