Unfortunately,Viesulas Skype for Windows phones are no longer available for download from Skype.
Skype has chosen to withdraw Skype for Windows phones because they want to offer their new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones.
Skype's aim is providing a rich user experience that allows users to enjoy free Skype-to-Skype and low cost calls as easily on the move as users do with thier desktop.
Skype felt that Skype for Windows phones were not offering the best possible Skype experience.
Therefore skype will not function on any wm operating system.
PS Viesulas even if you install the skype.cab on your touch2 wm6.5 skype will still not fuction, as they have discontinued to offer thier service on the wm6.5 os.

Dude I'm a heavy skype user. Skype it's working on my touch2, TYTN II, Excalibur and HD2 all of them runnning WM 6.5 I can guarantee that. Service is still good and running normally for WM platform, the only thing not available is the cab download anymore on the skype website.

Skype for pocketpc will continue to work for those who installed the skypeCAB before the year, they officially stopped offering thier apps for POCKETPC, however it won't work for anyone else, as stated on their site, who installs the skypeCAB afterwards

Did it work?

Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile

Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile is an application for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 PocketPCs and Smartphones that allows you to use your Windows Mobile device as a Bluetooth SideShow device. Installation instructions are below. This is a beta release.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...84-f862-4e02-a2b0-0003b4565f34&displaylang=en
I've not got this working with my wm6.1 ipaq ppc (classic) with widcomm stack.
please let us know if you get it working with your device (hw&sw versions) and any comments.
Also if you find any gadgets that you recommend let us all know.
Samsung i600 is working perfectly, but there are very few sideshow gadgets and most of them suck .
The mobile app says it is a beta and has expired, does anyone know if there is a newer/better version out there I've been looking all over the place and cant find anything? Am I the only person who thinks sideshow is really cool???
i am also getting a similar message that beta has expired ... any help
Just found this
http://blogs.msdn.com/sideshow/archive/2009/01/06/windows-sideshow-for-windows-mobile.aspx
hope we dont have to wait too long...
New version available

Ive had the cab for this for ages, but only recently have I had vista to be able to use it.
Ive had it working well on:
HTC S710 VOX
HTC P3450 ELF
HTC P3450 ELFIN
Doesnt seem to work on my Polaris, doesn't seem to save my user name. Always get asked to "Selected Current User" and can never turn on any gadgets in windows. Anyone else with the same problem?
thats what the expired cab did for me. have you uninstalled the old one and reinstalled the new one?
i'm using it for the media centre gadgets, but i have TV Pack 2008 and they dont work with it :-(
i've been waiting years for sideshow and now the thing i want to use it with isnt suported

yeah tried to install the new one but doesn't work. Apparently Microsoft are working on this but I don't think they will release anything soon. They stated that "We have seen this issue, and are investigating the cause. It seems to be sporadic." Testing this on Windows 7 beta so don't know whether this is the cause or whether it might be the ROM I am using.

Does android o.s have decent apps in the pipeworks?

Hi
I'm split between getting the motorola milestone/droid which has a qwerty keyboard (which i badly want), and between the htc hd2 which has the windows apps which i badly need.
I am kind of stuck now between which one to choose for my new phone. So was wondering
1) is windows mobile 6.5 on htc hd2 backwards compatible with the software from windows ppc and other version of windows mobile? (mainly because the apps i want are stuff like rosetta stone on ppc, reflex mentor on windows mobile, lingvosoft on ppc etc which are old)
2) does android o.s have similar software either already or in the pipeworks from anyones knowledge (i know iphoen has a few of these apps or similar already btu no idea about android)?
3) how easy is it to hack android (i know i can test and trial out a lot of these apps before i buy on windows due to the great internet, but can you also do it to android and iphone)?
Thanks to anyone who can help clarify this,
guess no one knows
Hi, Android has over 20,000 apps and counting. It's also open source & has been hacked a pleanty
Check out the "google market" for more info...

No mobile Skype anymore

I searched on xda but didn't see if someone already posted this. If this is already old news, please delete this thread. Thanks.
Skype is no longer developed for Winmo: http://www.skype.com/mobile/
They are introducing Blackberry and Android: http://www.skype.com/mobile/reminder/
It still works on my HD2 though.
Skype 3.0 for Windows Mobile
Skype 3.0 for Windows Mobile can be found at the following link: http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windowsmobile/
There is no mention of Windows Mobile on the homepage; however Skype did sign a contract with Verizon Wireless and that is now up on Skype's web page. I can tell you it works on my Touch Pro 2 with Wi-Fi. I hope this helps; take care!

[Q] how to Get Back to WM 6.5 ?

Hi Everybody !
you all know how strange it might be some requests form your boss but this is the most strange one !
My Boss has a system that work on WM 6.5 only and doesn't work on WM 7 and he requested that I should Provide him with 40 New WM 6.5 devices !
you know that they are not available currently So I figured out that I should buy new WM 7 Devices and Flash it Back to WM 6.5 !
I think theoretically this is possible but have anyone tried it ?!!!
I want to Try it on HTC 7 pro Device , Could anyone tell me what the steps I need to do that ?
any other suggested Devices ? I only want it to be New ,with QWERTY keypad and I can install WM 6.5 on it !
Can this be done with an Android Device ?
Thank you all in Advance.
Not possible.
Contact your business carrier and see if they can get anything, otherwise tell boss it is no longer made and WP7 is not an upgrade but a new product which is incompatable and nowhere near as good as WM6.5.
Just tell him MS have lost the plot.

I feel your pain mate, WM6.5 was great and MS have taken a huge leap backwards. We're not alone either, their market share has plummetted due to the move as people have either desperately scrounged for WM6.5 devices or moved to Android and had their in house apps re-written or found new alternatives.
WP7 and winmo 6.5 are completely different and not backwards compatible as said above.
Winmo 6.5 was good, but Mango is promising, however, specifically written programs written for business are a different ball game, get on to ebay and buy some HD2's, unless you know a developer who can re-write the programme for WP7?

There is no Upgrading for the System !
I will try the HD2 Choice.
Thank you for your support.
The hd2 is awesome. I've had win6.5, win7, ubuntu and a ton of android versions on it. If you have an issue, just wipe it clean and start over.

DEVELOPERS - Are you a Windows Mobile convert?

Hey there XDA,
I'm working on an article for a website about how Windows Mobile played a part in shaping the current state of the Android community. I was curious if anyone knows (or is) a developer who went from WinMo to Android, or even better now works at HTC / Microsoft / Google and got started as a WinMo ROM chef.
Feel free to drop me a PM or reply, I'd love to get in touch with you!
