Metal contacts on Backdoor? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The door/battery cover or whatever you call it has like two copper plates that touch metal contacts in the phone when you close it, what are those?
My friend thinks its for the nfc sensor but I'm pretty sure they wouldnt put that in the removable door.

It's the NFC antenna.

So if I lose the door I no longer have nfc??

How do you clean the screen edges on the Nexus S?

Hi guys, I have been getting some dust stuck in the crevice between the edge of the screen and the casing of the phone. It's quite a narrow space and I was wondering if you have any advice on how to get the dust out?
Thanks!

Get a regular white printing paper and stick it in between the edges. It works (yes, I'm not kidding!)

Yeah I do this too.

A thin toothpick is what I use.
The paper idea is good, but I've used an old toothbrush whenever necessary. Works well.

I do the paper idea as well LOL but I fold it first then use the folded side to run along the edges. That way the dirt gets in the pocket. X)

Thanks guys, I decided to try the printer paper method. Everything was going well until the edge of the piece of paper I was using broke off and got jammed in the space. Looks like I'll need to find the smallest needle I can get to get it out.

Buzzing-Rattling Sounds in case.

Brand new One X from AT&T store on Friday. I've noticed when setting the phone down, or tapping the phone, there is a buzzing/rattling sound up around the camera/top portion of the phone.
WTF?
Phone hasn't been dropped. hardly used and in a soft case the entire time.
Guess I can take it back..of course it is rooted/unlocked...but whatever. I know the sales rep since we do business with them and probably would swap it no questions.
Does the white case come off the phone somehow to access batter? Thought maybe I could open it up and check it out real quick and see if it is something stupid..but don't want to screw my phone up either.
Thx.

Yea every phone has this rattling. Its the auto focus lense.

It can also be that the sim card is loose when inserted. That was another culprit. I put some scotch tape on top and cut it to shape. That extra bit stopped the rattling and improved my signal.

[Q] replacing the bezel

just bought this phone used, but the bezel is so damaged that it's hard for me to even look at the phone.
i wonder if there's an easy way of replacing the bezel? im not sure i want to transplant the entire screen on the kit i bought, since it seems like the glass breaks easily.
Buy a case, most of the decent cases cover up the besel

You might be able to find some rear housing replacement for the phone but that all depends on if you want to dissect the phone as well.

Alternative like previously mentioned is get a case for it but thats entirely your choice.
Bezel is attached to the digitizer

No it's not, it's attached to the front housing, the entirety of which can be bought of eBay brand new for around $20

I read the 1st post and thought I had posted it for a second. Exact same thing happened to me. I was not going to keep it but a case will hide it and it's a $400 phone new. My wife isn't going to let me spend that much on a phone so I decided to keep it.
Glad I did so far.

I have a bezel and assembly without the glass sitting on a shelf in my office. Had a shattered screen and the replacement is a one-piece assembly as was mentioned. I removed the glass and LCD and have a good bezel with the 'touchpad' buttons still in place. Could let it go....if you can use it. Make me an offer. PM me if you're interested and I'll send a picture.

Bumper Defect?

I had my bumper off my phone while I was having ghost armor installed on it, the bumper was in my pocket and I tend to be one of those people who fiddles with things in their pocket while they wait.
I was just pushing on it lightly, when I realized that the hard plastic easily came apart from the rubber. I thought maybe I just pushed too hard, but when I started inspecting it around the sides, I realized that there were many spots where it would happen with very little force.
Is this supposed to happen or is it some sort of defect in my bumper?

I don't think it's meant to be separable but you might want to email Google support. They can probably answer this question better than XDA members imo.

That was the first thing I did. Just thought I'd ask if anyone else had this happen as well.
Judging from this bumper unboxing/review... it's supposed to be like that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEVBn2M1QFw&feature=related
Most bumpers are 2 parts
Mine does the same thing around some areas of the bumper.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
EDIT: I don't think it can come all the way apart, there is glue holding parts of the bumper.
My bumper is the same...its perfectly normal.

Nexus 5 back cover foil?

When I opened the back cover I accidentally ripped up a foil like piece near the camera cutout. Does anyone have any clues to what that might be?
