what you think? - Droid 2 Global General

I just wanted to get peep opinion on if i should trade my D2G for Droid X...Missing the slide out keyboard really no biggie to me.. my friend wants a keyboard.. so tell what you think, thanks!
I am really thinking about the HTC thunderbolt, but would just use the the X or d2g until then!

Really depends on your needs. I got the global mainly for the capability of the international plan. I'm in the army so I wanted something to keep on deployments. Plus the X was just a little to big for me.

Nexus S or Droid 2 Global OR something else?

I like d2g because of the keyboard, but locked bootloader
On the other hand, nexus s got latest android os (although things may change after 1 year, just nexus one),but worse in designing
I dont know which to choose, or u have other idea(eg. droid 3 is coming)
I'm also torn. I would love the d2g but there's barely any community behind it.
wait for dual core phones
I wouldnt use either of those. I would either get the droid x or the htc evo... I have the evo amd havent had one problem with it.

Google has the best camera
It depends what you want. Think in terms of hardware and software. The Nexus S doesn't have cutting edge hardware, but its Google's example of the best Android experience they can offer on a phone at the moment. Phones like the Atrix from CES would be an uber option if you're looking for bleeding edge hardware. For me, I'm undecided about the crazy new phones coming out vs the Nexus S, when considering what Android phone to go with. A dual core phone would be pretty kick ass, but I wouldn't want to be stuck with an older, skinned version of Android and a locked bootloader.

[Q] I can haz new phone?!?

So I decided to breach into the android type of phone, I'm coming from a WM 6.5 Imagio with Verizon Wireless. One of the draw backs of my last phone was it's popularity and lack of community support for it so I don't want to make the same mistake again. So what phone can anyone suggest to me that is basically powerful, good screen, no keyboard, android and very popular?
Thunderbolt?

Thunderbolt has good development and fits the parameters you mentioned. Verizon should have some new phones in the next month but who knows how they will be as far as dev support.

The Thunderbolt is a really well put together phone with awesome speed and a lot of support. If you want to wait a little longer, look into the Droid Incredible 2 or the Droid Bionic.
I went an took a look at the Thunderbolt and loved the phone right away, I'm now the proud owner of one, thank you guys!

[Q] Need help picking a new phone

I was looking at the thunderbolt but i am not in a 4g area so I am thinking about the incredible 2 any thoughts on that?
Incredible 2 is locked down, no roms, especially not cyanogen. OG incredible has plenty of roms though, including CM7. Motorola's phones are also not rom-friendly. LG, Sony Ericsson, and samsung's phones are not locked down although I don't think there's much of a development scene for any of those manufacturers Verizon phones yet.

does it look like there will be any roms in the near future for the inc2 cause verizon is not offering the og inc anymore and i have never been a fan of motorola so no problem there and the on sony phone i see is that new playstation one
I would recommend the thunderbolt

If your hand is not that big, you can try the xperia x10/mini/mini pro
The mini/pro is cheap too!

Thinking about a Thunderbolt

I've had the thunderbolt but once I bought the Rezound I sold the thunderbolt but kinda want it back so I have both or should I wait and see if HTC releases another HTC phone on Verizon?? Just want to have choices in what phone I carry.

I personally would hold off and see what they come out with next year - waiting always pays off, especially when having to keep that same device for 20 months until you can upgrade. Also taking into consideration that they are making phones with a lot better batteries too.
Ya I know I jump on the Thunderbolt wagon quick now I have the Rezound but I want a backup Thunderbolt.

I have both the incredible and now the thunderbolt. I still have not decided which one I am going to use but the thunderbolt is very nice.
I am going to pick up a rezound battery and see how it runs compared to the incredible.
If you can pick up a thunderbolt on the used market fairly cheap I say go for it.

Someone looking for a used thunderbolt ;-) pm me and let me know what you are looking to spend.
Someone looking to trade for a rezound? I just got a fresh new thunderbolt

If you're looking to root I would add that with the right rom the battery problems can be eliminated pretty well. I'm running infectedroms eternity nightly and a performance governer on setcpu and after more than 22 hours on battery I was still at 70 percent battery

I have bpth also, actually running the same rom (mikrunny) on both. Loved my dinc, but the tbolt is super smooth and im lovin the big screen. Dinc is now my sons angry birds machine, he is 5.

Thunderbolt is the best phone on the market still, IMO. The gigantic community backing it makes it better than anything else out there. Unbelievably tweakable and customizable. Great ROMs and great kernels.

I did the same thing. Ran a WiFi only script on the incredible and turned it into a ipod like device. Boys love it and I really like the thunderbolt. So far it has been great. No problems and everything is running well on the same ROM.

Wanted to thank everyone for the advice and say sorry for posting my thank you so late. So I took some advice and I'm going to hang onto my Rezound and when something nice comes around use the Rezound for my second line. Oh I have two lines one is personal and business for the other but only have a dumbphone for business. So thank you for all the kind help.

Honestly, I have an Evo, and if you're looking for another phone, I'd strongly recommend the galaxy nexus.
I'll be honest I was thinking about getting the a nexus but I'm kinda stuck in the HTC funk LOL.

I'm the same way with HTC. I had an Eris, Incredible (wife's), Thunderbolt, and now an Incredible 2. I love the Thunderbolt but I wanted something with more development and LTE is still abut 10 miles from me. I did buy a Rezound battery for it and I'm currently using it as a little ICS tablet. I might sell it but I might end up regretting it.

I just actived the nexus for my dad, honestly im pretty jealous lol, everything is so smooth. I Still love my thunderbolt just that dev is pretty slow right now hopefully it picks back up again soon
Just got rid of my bolt a few days ago. I came really close to deciding to throw it against a brick wall instead of selling it. I hate it that much. Got the GS2, I absolutely love it.
I am on the Thunderbolt for the 3rd time now. I have had the Nexus, Rezound and the Razr Maxx. The only phone I liked better than the Thunderbolt is the Razr Maxx. I think I will get the Razr Maxx again but I will keep the Thunderbolt around for my second phone!

GS3, Optimus G or 1X+ for att?

I'm looking to switch to att and can't figure out what phone to go with. I like the 1x+, but not sure about sticking with HTC. The optimus is only $100 so that's kind of where I'm leaning right now. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.

I would get the one x plus. The camera on the optimus g sucks although it is 13 megapixel, and I hate touchwiz

Yeah I'm not to fond of Sammy and I was mainly going for the lg for the price but I really like the 1x+.

If you're getting att don't get n4 I wouldn't do this. I would get something designed for 4g from them. The one x plus is what I would choose. Just an opinion.

Yup the one X+ is the better build and ships with jb. I did the research last night for my gf who is planning on breaking from from apple in January. Only thing is that you'd have to deal with strong possibility HTC won't update as frequently as Samsung. And also the camera is better on the s3.
Google this "samsung Galaxy s3 vs HTC one x+" it should get you the reviews with enough info to consider before making a final decision
IMHO, I'd wait & see what comes out of CES and how soon. For all you know the M7 could be right around the corner, although it'd probably be $100 shy of a Macbook Air.
I'm really considering the optimus g because you can pick one up for $99 and I really like that it has the s4 pro and 2gigs of ram. Is the 1x+ worth $100 more than the lg and is the tegra 3 on the same level as the s4 pro?

When given a choice like this always go for the non LG (sorry if that's harsh) I've had enough hands on with them to always be worried when faced with one. The biggest overall issue issue is that the support from LG and the tools provided to work with their devices are beyond frustrating and cumbersome to work with. The quality of the manufacturing makes me wonder sometimes too. The optimus g is nice looking, wicked quick, has a decent os on it and is a great device but even with just a bit of limited handling its already starting to show signs of wear on the out of the box perfect looking exterior. HTC phones are built like tanks and yep the cameras have been kickass. Sammy is always a good call lately too. My advice is if you go LG get a case and treat it like a precious jewel...you do get what you pay for ..or just go HTC or Sammy
That's just my personal opinion..but you should go hands on with all 3 and decide for youself
