Hi all,
I sent my phone back to T-Mobile for a warranty repair because a couple of the keys stopped responding to key presses.
Got the phone back today repaired, they have replaced the keyboard. BUT they have also upgraded the firmware on the phone. Now it is WM6.1 and I am unable to restore my (a lot) applications etc from the 2gb backup file on my SD card.
It asks me for an upgrade file which I don't have. It performs the restore anyways but then the phone won't boot.
On performing a hard reset it comes back with WM6.1
I can't even cancel the damn T-Mobile customisations like I could in WM6 (by restarting the device before they install) now it just wipes the handheld again after boot and installs the T-Mobile crap again every time.
Please can someone help me restore my backup file? Where can I Get an upgrade file?
I found a guide here that I would have followed had I know they would upgrade my phone without my consent:
http://spritesoftware.crmdesk.com/answer.aspx?id=329
Is anyone here still on WM6 (not 6.1) able to create an upgrade file for me and host it somewhere?
I know it's a massive ask but I would be forever greatful if someone could help me out with this.
Many Thanks,
Alex.
If you dont want the 6.1 i would check the wiki/search for the 6.0 rom that you had before you sent it in. The older rom should be avaliable somewhere.. You just have to look for it.
I say you send it back to T-Mobile and ask for a G1 instead
I've spoken to T-Mobile to see if they could change it back and they said there is nothing they can do.
Is there some way to save my current rom to my SD card so that I can go back to 6.0, create an upgrade file for sprite, come back to 6.1 and restore my backup using the upgrade file?
I don't know where I can find the original T-Mobile Rom though I've looked on the web and the T-Mobile site.
Sorry I'll admit that I'm a noob at this.
DJ
Is the backup just to save you re-installing programs, or is there data in the backup that isn't backed up somewhere else?
The only thing I would really "lose" on my phone are the contacts which come right back as soon as I set the phone up to sync with exchange again. If I wasn't using exchange I would have all my contacts backed up in Outlook on my PC.
Maybe you just need to re-install your programs again. WM 6.1 does have some nice enhancements over WM 6.0.
Nothing they can do vs they can't be bothered

Complain to them about much longer GPS lock times (assuming you have the option of installing Tomtom or similar on your phone). I had this problem with the official HTC WM 6.1 upgrade (see this *Hopeless* GPS after 6.1 update thread for more info) and the HTC Service centre reverted the ROM back to 6.0 for free under warranty so if T-Mobile say they cant get the HTC Technical Centre to do this for you, they're not trying hard enough - time to escallate it to the manager! There's no physical reason why they cant revert the ROM and they should have warned you that they would flash the ROM.

I will lose a lot of data that is not backed up anywhere else. One of the main things is my TomTom favourites, which is full of locations I would have to drive to to save again, and can't drive to without the favourites lol. Other than that it's a lot of apps and customisations like numerous SPB apps that have been tailored to my requirements over the last year.

ffs I hope that's not going to be the case, I use TomTom 6 on my phone ALL the time and I'll be REALLY annoyed if it's not going to perform as well at that. It's the main reason I went for this phone.
I think I will ask for the manager. The pleb I spoke to did even go and ask someone if there was anything they could do.

GPS was a big drawcard for me also and the difference between HTCs official WM 6.1 vs WM 6.0 ROMs is like night and day (6.1 being night). Give it a test under your new OS just to see how it works with the T-Mobile ROM (I see there's a new 1.70xxxx series T-Mobile Radio - maybe yours has it now) but don't get your hopes up

Feel free to mention you know someone who had the ROM officially reverted for free under warranty. Remember, this is something that is possible to get done, I have personal experience of it.
As far as how to backup in the future, I backup all my Music, Videos and Tomtom Navigator 6.032 Maps and POIs etc on my microSDHC card using my Sandisk Cardreader and Windows XPs own backup utility. It's quick, free and works a treat! There's no need to use any special mobile phone backup software just for this sort of thing (although phone settings/configuration etc will require manual re-entering if you don't back them up - but then I'm unsure if it's possible to retain those across different OSs).
I tried to use my tomtom yesterday and it took ages to lock on despite having the quick gps downloaded.

Well then assuming you were out in the open and there's no reason why it shouldn't have got a quick lock (other than the 'up'grade), you know what to do!
For other T-Mobile customers and people considering using the radio in a non- T-Mobile Kaiser (not me!), it may be helpful if you post the ROM and Radio Versions you currently have.
ROM Version: 3.31.110.1 WWE
Radio Version: 1.70.18.02
Protocol Version: 25.83.40.02H
The sat nave seems better since that first lock, but I've only used it twice.
Is there a way to backup this ROM before I change back to do my upgrade file?
Cheers,
DJ

Repeat after me, this ROM is bad, this ROM needs to go, Old ROM is good, Old ROM is whats needed (for the meantime)!
Once you've got your SD Card contents back, then you can think about where to go from there and T-Mobile I'm sure will be only to pleased to supply you with the upgrade again or do it themselves.
Guys,
I just became the, now rather dubious, owner of a gTablet that a colleague brought for me from the States. So far I am not that impressed. Several apps that supposed to be on there, aren't (no Kindle app out of the box, and no gMarket, despite what the manual says).
SO, I try the announced update procedure: fails.
First time fails at 8%. Second time fails at 13%, third time fails at 28%, fourth time fails at 4%. Is this a joke of some sort? Also the download is rather slow, as in, they use smoke signals to get the message across!
Does anyone have the update as a file that I can run as an apk perhaps?
I also have to point out that the GUI rather sucks. The settings menu misses about 50% of the Android 2.2 options (I have a HTC desire. Waaaay more settings options...)
After my complaints, lets get to figuring this out.
1) Can someone point me to the update pack if it is available for download via my Mac and can be installed using that ES explorer program it has installed?
2) Does the update provide Google Market or the original weblink? Does it use a different gui or still the same simpleton gui?
3) if not, is there a simple ROM flash I can do that gives me a different GUI and google Market?
I have flashed my HTC Hero before, which was not a big deal. However, I want things done simple, so if there is a good ROM with a nice GUI and simple instructions for a noob (I got two left hands when it comes to this sort of stuff), and Google Market, I would gladly see a link.
Any support will be very welcome!

Forget about the stock update and read about TNT lite or the vegan beta Rom if you feel experimental. You can get market flash and pretty much all the Google goodies.

A good start would be the following guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Understand that there are newer versions of the rom referenced, also there's VEGAn, a rom based on the Vega.
The Gtab stock needs a lot of help but it is a very good product with a little TLC and some grunt work:
Different devices/users different opinions. I am more than satisfied with the performance and feel of my Gtab without flashing a different ROM and what I did was follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
I used root explorer instead of AndRootFile
Then I changed my launcher to ADW.Launcher
Side load flash (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
Do the market fix to get all market (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
add titanium backup
add ROMManager
Note: When I applied the latest update from Viewsonic (fixed the video driver, now AngryBirds, etc working) I had to re-root the device but everything else works fine.
Even fixed the issue with Gtab not seeing Ad-hoc network from phone (Instructions can be found on internet). Now my Gtab rocks, connects to my home Wifi or if not available connects to my Phone Wifi.
I can still launch the default tapNtap if I want to and Viewsonic upgrades apply fine. I had an issue with update also....Support had me set the sleep to "off" and then it worked fine, however the update image was posted on XDA-developer:
Bobtran,
Interesting perspective. Could you run Quadrant and show us what that score is?
I have had TnT up to 2.2 then swithed to VEGAn beta3 now. Q =2411
Most everything runs very very fast...
All, Thanks for the suggestions and the useful links . I might be flashing mine this weekend.
As for which ROM to use, what are the pros and cons for one over another? E.g. if I were to take the TnT ROM (I think it's at 2.4.1 now?), how does that fare against, say, the Vegan Beta4 (I think the latest is beta4 from what I read on some posts)
Bobtran, did you have a link for the update image? seemed like you were going to post it, but got cut short...
Guys,
I am trying to install Clockwork Mod v08 as per one of the links. First issue is that the tablet won't mount the SDcard to my desktop. SHouldn't be a big issue as I can coy/paste the required files from the internal storage to the SDcard via ESexplorer (standard installed on the gTablet).
However, how do I know it installed correctly? I don't see a new app and the boot install goes very fast. There is an opened box with an arrow pointing down and a load bar that seems to have green hashed filling, as if it's preparing to install. Then suddenly the splash screen pops up. The box with arrow and progress bar are there for a second or so, maybe 2. Seems rather quick. Is this correct?
EDIT: I wanted to say the boot screen didn't come up when starting up with vol+ and pwr, but just noticed, it does... so should be ok
well, seems I have been successful in flashing the new ROM (TnT 2.4.0) using CWM-v08.
Question though, the instructions in the TnT installation guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245) seem to say that the market fix only is a partial fix (note that the comment applies to TnT2.2).
Now that I installed the TnT2.4.0 ROM, I was wondering if the market fix is also only partial for TnT2.4. If yes, can I run the patch at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
and if yes, would that give me full Market access? If not, what's involved in getting full Market access?
As a side question that may not belong here but wouldn't be answered in the appropriate forum section: I have an XT701 phone that needs a Market Fix. Would the fix at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
also provide my phone with the Market? Just a side question, if no answer, that's fine...

For the market fix, just see the link that I have in my first post, in the TnT Lite thread. That fix could also work on other devices. It's the same fix in the link you just posted.
So everyone (particularly other Aussies) knows, rooting and uninstalling the buggy apps below from the Optus rom seems to have significantly improved my battery life, as well as caused the phone to stop slowing down significantly after a few days:
DirectoryAssist
GOTO_Altitude <- I think this one or the last one is the mobile tv app that kept crashing all the time, particularly on APN changes...a lot of the rest are just shortcuts...
Optus App Store
Optus Games
Optus Mobile TV
Optus Zoo
Optus Music
Revolver
TrueCountry
TV 1.0
To uninstall them you need to root with z4root. I then used the free version of Uninstaller for Root from the market to back up the APKs and remove them.
Highly recommend this for all Optus users...phone is working much, much better now.
Once I work out how to restore 2.2s default tethering (or discover it's impossible and find a good app store app) I will remove the buggy wifi app too...
Sent from my MotoA953 using XDA App
As an optional alternative to the above, I flashed the GB Retail SBF, removed all of the motobloat apps (social networking, weather, news, widgets, messaging, etc keeping the google versions), installed a new launcher (in my case ADW) and then removed the motoblur home 2.2.
Flashing the GB SBF also got rid of that stupid Optus boot animation
Any and all lag is completely gone, battery lasts more than 24 hours with moderate usage (browsing, calls, gtalk, email, etc).
Runs pretty damn nice, stable 1.25ghz @ 62VSEL using milestone overclock.
EDIT: added battery comment.
Shellite, did you get back the standard android 2.2 tethering by doing that?
Sent from my MotoA953 using XDA App
Unfortunately, no. It did not restore the standard 2.2 tethering.
To be honest, while it would be nice, I wouldn't really use tethering much anyway.
Can some one point me to the australian sbf? Love to get rid of this vodaphone [email protected]
Any detailed instructions on how to do it as well? Or will the Brazilian instructions in this forum do the trick? Yes i'm totally new to this but that been said I am very computer-literate so it's more cautiousness than not knowing what i'm actually doing...
Sent from my MotoA953 using XDA App
The only Australian SBF is the Optus one which I requested in another forum whom uploads them to and-developers..
I will PM you some information as you should request they upload your Vodafone SBF before you start flashing others to your phone
The GB Retail rom is the best if you want unbranded goodness. I will PM you the link to this also, but as I said, hold off flashing it.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
My M2 came with GB firmware and I flashed the Optus firmware just for a look, it was ok except for Yes Optus boot animation plus a horrible Optus wallpaper and the Optus apps of course.
I now have the French sbf as it is MILS2_U6_2.3.4
Optus is MILS2_U6_2.2.19
and UK is MILS2_U6_2.2.16

foreman31, I just flashed the GB sbf and seems clean (phone portal works as well over wifi). Have you noticed any differences between the FR vs GB?

not really, it has AZERTY keyboard is all, when you press Q it types A and vice versa.
Does the GB firmware have data and battery manager in settings?
@shellite: could you please elaborate on how you got rid of the motoblur apps and the motoblur homescreen? Also, is that permanent (does factory reset bring it back?)
@foreman: yes both data and battery manager options are shown in settings.

You cant get rid of Motoblur until Angrdroid finished FissionROM since there are too many links between the BLUR Apps.. an alternative would be.. to use a Launcher such as LauncherPro and ADW.Launcher or the Android2.3 Launcher PORT to 2.2 .. those 3 are the best ive seen.. (GDE is kinda funny aswell but seems Cheap (looks crappy sometimes .)) but i recommend ADW &LauncherPro this will replace MotoBlurHomescreen and Appdrawer has some cool 3D Effects etc.. wich runs WAY better than Blur.. But its impossible to remove Blur yet, i tryed it believe me... its because blur has own system apps.. and also i couldnt find the StockAndroid ones.. so i couldnt replace them .. im not that skilled.. all i did yet is Porting DarkEdge theme to Milestone2 Deodexed but thats all =)

I re-contracted online, but there is some "problem" with the Milestone 2's that is delaying them being sent out (they have stock mind you)...did you encounter this or a delay by any chance?

Initially, after rooting the phone (using z4root) I used Titanium Backup to delete the motoblur applications I did not want... eg;
com.motorola.photowidget 2.2
ContactsUnconnected 2.2
Date and Time 2.2
ES Musica
Help Centre 2.2
HipHop Official 2.0whatever
Home screen tips 2.2
News 2.2
Quick Contacts 2.2
Revolver TV
Rock On Altitude
Social Messaging 2.2
Social Messaging Service 2.2
Social Networking 2.2
Social Sharing 2.2
Social Status 2.2
Toggle Widgets 2.2
TrueCountry
Weather 2.2
World Clock 1.0
... I'm sure you get the idea, since testing out Titanium Backup I decided to buy the full version, after flashing the UK SBF to my phone, I used it to 'freeze' the packages rather than delete them (leaving me the option to enable them at a whim if desired).
There are more that belong on the above list which I have frozen... eg; I installed ADW Launcher and then 'froze' Home 2.2
My battery easily lasts more than a days use now, with calls, games, google reader, etc.. its also overclocked to 1.25ghz @ 62VSEL stable, I am now happy with my phone (I actually nursed it along for 2 days last week!)
I could give you my full list via PM if this helps.
Thanks shellite!

I ordered it on the first day they became available, before they'd even turned up on the personal website (the guys on the phone were happy to sell me one). I think that was a Tuesday...it was delivered on a Thursday. They'd essentially promised me it would arrive in 48 hours (I didn't believe them at the time) and it pretty much did. I was quite impressed with the turnaround...
I wasn't recontracting though...transferred from TPG...

Nice...wonder why/how they have developed some "problem" now :-(
Oh well, hopefully will get it soon :/
Just watch the box when you get it. It doesn't have an obvious front, and if you open it upside down the phone will fall out (onto the hard tile floor in my case). It was totally fine, but I wasp pretty ****ty about it at the time...
This may sound silly but seen as it's my first time doing this I need to make sure the process is correct.
Is this the correct way to load the GB SBF onto my M2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914071
Obviously that thread talks about the Brazilian firmware, but I'm assuming the process is the same regardless of firmware region?
I have the Vodafone SBF now so I'm good to go...
So I just updated to 2.2 using the leaked Froyo non root method with my At&t Samsung captivate. Everything seems to work fine but my downloading speed is terribly slow in the marketplace, my youtubing and websurfing speed is still fast though. Anyone know what's up with this?
A lot of market related issues can be fixed by going in to:
Menu - Settings - Manage Applications - All
then scroll down to Market, select it, then clear cache/data.
i tried that but there wasn't any data/cache to clear it was just 0.0kb....I tried rebooting and I went back to 2.1 and the dling speed works fine. I then rooted and flashed di11i's 6.0 and everything worked but once again dling from android marketplace was super slow while web browsing, youtubing, etc. was fast....
I have noticed that with some of the roms the market does not adjust correctly the first few times you access it. I went to Cognition 3.04 and at first it took forever to load, now it works fine after a week or so.
a week huh? Hmm maybe I'll just give it time....I am liking the di11i's 6.0 with blue theme very much =P

Do you have a generic Android ID? Some of the roms change your ID to the same everyone else has. Market throttles because it looks like 1000 downloads are all going to the same phone. Try Android ID Changer, if you have your original, and change it back. Or just change a few characters so your not on the same ID.
how would i find my Android ID? And how would I change it?

It will tell you your current ID and let you change.
Yeas I wish I had known about this android ID before flashing, I'm currently using the Odin 1.0 flashed 2.1.1's android ID, so just any characters and it'll be fine?

This rom is ONLY for Spark_W, or the HTC Trophy 7 on Verizon Wireless. If your Trophy is for ANY other carrier or unbranded, this rom WILL NOT WORK on your device!
This rom requires DFT HSPL for First Generation Devices V3 to be installed. Please read this HOWTO for more information.
I am happy to announce the official testing phase of XevRev for Spark_W. XevRev is based on Dynamics7 1.21 for HTC Titan by ultrashot. This is not a straight port of Dynamics7, and it features a few slight changes to allow for better interaction with the Verzion OEM, and one significant upgrade over Dynamics7 1.21.
To read a full list of features, checkout ultrashot's thread for Dynamics 1.21 for HTC Titan!
The big features for Spark_W owners are as follows:
-FULLY PROGRAMMABLE! FACTORY RESET IS mostly SAFE TO PERFORM ON PHONE! For safety's sake until I complete some more of my own testing, do not program the phone until a few mins after you reach the tile screen. Default programing at first boot is currently disabled.
-ultrashot's Unlock V3, with newer version of Xap Deployer.
-Based on Verizon rom, not ported from Spark Euro.
Key differences between Dynamics7 vs XevRev:
-Xap Deployer has been updated to v1.1-upd1, this allows the rom to be fully programmed with full unlock. This includes if you factory reset! You do not need to program with a stock rom anymore! YOU SHOULD THANK (and donate as well!) ULTRASHOT FOR HIS HELP AND INPUT FOR KILLING THIS PAIN IN THE BUTT BUG ONCE AND FOR ALL!
OEM packages are still Verizon, minus bloat like Netflix, Photo Enhancer, and Slacker Radio.
Nokia theme as been removed, since it overwrote the Verizon OEM theme. I might add it back in before V1, but for now its gone and it won't be the default option if I do add it back in. Verizon's OEM packages are highly integrated vs the standard Spark Euro packages.
Only US English will be available during testing. I will add back all packs that come with rom (plus request) after testing is completed. Do not request a rom language in this thread, please private message me and I'll make sure it ends up in the International version. I most likely will make an Asian version of this rom too. *edit 13-Oct-2012* I still need Japanese and Korean packages, please private message me if you know where I can obtain them.
Removed Russian mail.ru packages. These will be added into an international version after testing is completed/. *edit 13-Oct-2012* I have decided to leave it permanently out since no one is complaining it isn't there.
[*]Wireless-N support is disabled like it is by default. Having it enabled was making my own wireless network go completely crazy, and it didn't appear to increase the connection speed of the phone.
Notes about incomplete and complete features in XevRev Beta 1:
Bazaar for WP7 will be added. I think its a handy thing to have pre-installed.
Reinstaller will be added, but it isn't a priority feature.
WP7 Root Tools will be added.
Last.fm will be added, but it isn't a priority feature.
SYS 8773 Tango booting is a priority for a V1 of the rom, but for now it has 8107 Mango.
SYS 8835 7.8 available.
Most drivers are Tango v1, but you can still run Zune update to get newest radio and finish driver upgrade. Official Verizon tethering and fixes the long standing bug of random mac addresses.
The tethering network unlock by JerryJiang is not included because I do not know what values it changes. Non-Verizon network users will still need to apply it to enable tethering. I plan to implement this into my rom soon.
Radio is included in rom, and it is forced to Mango v3's radio. I am doing this to insure that CMAS support remains intact, but also because there is no official Tango rom from Verzion online yet to create a flash-able radio from. If you want Tango v1 radio (recommended by many users), simply run Zune update to get newest HTC driver.
*note about Internet Sharing PLEASE READ*[Updated 1-OCT-2012]
If you are a Verizon subscriber and have a metered data plan.... you're good to go.
ALL VERIZON USERS WITHOUT OFFICIAL TETHERING PLAN MUST DO THE FOLLOWING!!
After programming the phone via *228, dial ##PST# on the dial pad. After service tools install/load, select PST=>edit=>type in unlock code: 000000, Select M.IP Default Profile, select DUN NAI, change value to from ##########@dun.vzw3g.com to ##########@vzw3g.com (the # signs represent your phone number that should remain!) and select ok, select save and reboot phone.
If you are using an unlocked SIM card to run on another carrier, go here and run the tethering unlock xap by JerryJiang.
Special Thanks!
I special thanks to all those who made this rom possible. feropont, ultrashot and hd2owner, you all rock! Without all of your hard work and efforts, none of this rom would be possible! A shout out to my buddy NuAngel once again, for getting me into rom cooking a few years back!
Changes between build 1 and 1a

I'd like to thank tonbonz for pointing out that you can run the Zune update, and it will install the newest radio to the phone (along with the last two missing packages, HTC_NKDrivers and OEM_8x50_NK_SPARK_W). It's odd, because previous to updating the XIP almost all of the new drivers save those two, I wasn't able to install the HTC update (and the older drivers always flashed on roms like DFT and ansars until these newest drivers).
Perhaps one of the drivers doesn't like updating, and since its already updated, the update process skips it and moves on? I wonder if its the WIRELESS driver.... I could dig in and find out, but really... why should anyone care?! lol Now you can have full unlock, programming, and the newest radio too! WOOHOO!
Thanks for the share.. works great.
im try this rom. please add the turkish language

You installed RSPL and didn't flash HSPL? Interesting... but the idea of my rom is so that you don't need to flash a new one all the time. I'm going to explode an old method of SPL downgrade for our phones (this old old OLD rom that ansar posted ages ago) and see if HSPL is possible using that. If so, we won't need to flash our phones.
I think the update-able part may be caused by the fact that I used the Verizon Wireless driver instead of the Spark GSM driver like in DFT and ansar roms. Even though a kitchen like OSBuilder will swap the wireless driver when I OEM cab install, I don't think Windows Phone will if the carrier ID's don't match. I'm going to do some testing by back porting the WIRELESS drivers and see if that is why the OEM updates are not installing in other roms. It's also possible that another package was at fault because during my testing, until I mostly ported the drivers to the newest ones, the OEM cab update was failing on my rom too.
Frankly, I wouldn't have known the oem cabs were flashing if it wasn't for tonbonz earlier post in the general forum, because I had sort of given up on it, assuming that HTC or Microsoft has implemented some kind of change that didn't allow the updates to succeed. Rom's like DFT's had worked for updating in their pre-release phase, but it would remove internet sharing because the policies for internet sharing were contained in the WIRELESS package. Dynamics7 by ultrashot solved this by using a different package with just the internet sharing policies, that way they would remain even if the WIRELESS package was updated.
The problem came when Verizon changed their WIRELESS driver to be different from the default HTC one found on Spark GSM. Even if you implemented the polices with the Verizon driver, you still couldn't start the hotspot service up, it would produce an error. I tired all kinds of lamo hex editing tricks to see if I could enabled, but couldn't (and I assumed other rom cooks working on Spark_W did as well). We're really fortunate that Verizon decided to boost support for Windows Phone and allow for tethering out of box, as we now have a spiffy updated WIRELESS driver with no stupid random mac address bug.
Spark GSM rom cooks may be able to port the Verizon Wireless driver, and then use JerryJiang's fix to allow the hotspot driver to work on their phone. However, this might keep them from using OEM update as well. Perhaps exploring this HOTSPOT feature (as it doesn't seem to be configured in the registery) that JerryJiang found it what will eventually produce a method to fully policy unlock tethering on Spark GSM and allow a different package to keep that hot spot unlock in place, while allowing OEM.cabs to update all the drivers on the phone?
I'm going to work on implementing JerryJiang's patch into XevRev as a package (not his xap) this weekend (I hope). He sent me his source code and I am going to do some digging to see what I can find.

Yeah, i didn't install HSPL . . i wanted the bootloader to get updated through Zune . . after all, i now have what i wanted all along - an unlocked phone which allows me to install a few useful aps which are not available on the Microsoft Marketplace and full access to all the folders, internet sharing and Zune updates. Why should i want to install another custom ROM ever again? (Not that we are going to see many more updates for Windows 7.5 anyway!)
My only regret is that i wasn't able to keep my saved messages. If i try to use my save store.vol and pimindex.vol, my contacts list gets messed up. Never mind, small sacrifice.
Thanks again . .

Yeah but... you.... nevermind.
I'm sure we're going to see 7.8 before end of life on this phone.. but Windows Phone 8 will be a completely different ball game.
I was thinking of the irony.. I couldn't release a custom rom until after we got the official tethering update... and the only reason I wanted HSPL on our phones was to have tethering.... derp. lol

you're forgetting, internet sharing still doesn't work out-of-the-box on the official rom, it requires Jerry Jiang's unlocker . . . so your custom rom is fully relevant

No, Internet sharing does work just fine... if you have Verizon service. If you are using a sim card to use a different provider, then that is a different story.
I'm not entirely sure that Verizon locked it down with the intention of not allowing the phone to use Internet Service on different providers (I mean, it wouldn't even work internationally either with its setup), but they locked it down simply to make DAMN sure that the people who are using it, are being monitored and metered by them.
Thankfully unlimited data users have a simple fix for it, as listed in my original post... although I'm not sure if its fully effective (there is a NAI setting in the original tethering setup as well that points to dun.blahblah...).

That's strange, do you have unlimited data or a tier plan? If you have a data cap, it should work with no mods. If you have unlimited data, you need to follow the instructions in my opening post, but you said you already did that.
And are you really using a Spark rom? This is a Spark_W rom. O-o;
Hmmm interesting, I like the idea of your rom, more like stock, but unlocked, and can get zune updates.
I'm currently use SolvZ's rom, and im really happy with it. I just got done posting in his thread about it. Funny because the only reason I want a ROM anymore is for customer colors. I don't even like the "no dehydrate" thing, it does weird things with my location when doing bing searches, it keep remembering the last location I was in and not clearing it and searching my current
When you get final out, I may give it a run. I have a upgrade waiting, so as soon as WP8 hits Verizon's stores bye bye good ol Trophy.

crap, i couldn't help myself. Your rom is installing now as I type this... 8%...
I was to be able to update so it stops bothering me. Plus my wifes bone stock Trophy seems to be doing very well with the latest drivers that came with her official Tango+HTC updates. ohhh ohhh ohh 22%
Well, G2G, ill be spending the next 30 mins configing my phone lol
PS: 41%

Done, its working great. Internet sharing working, rom is fast and smooth. All HTC updates installed! I got the newest raido my Wife's stock Trophy got. cool.
Thanks man! Ill let you know if I find any bugs.

The ROM Im using now is DFT Freedom Spark_W V1 for Verizon. Internet sharing works.
Nice ROM you have here by the way. Id really stick with it, but I really need Internet sharing. Maybe ill try it again down the road since I think ill be stuck with my Trophy a little while longer. Not eligible for an update until early 2013.
I somehow screwed up my programming again I did a factory reset because I screwed up the contact list trying to restore my SMSes. I waited a few minutes after the reset to do the *228 programming as the initial post says, and although the programming said it was completed successfully and the 3G icon came up, none of my calls are completing. I get a few rings then the Verizon lady saying there was a problem completing my call.
Any ideas on how I can fix this almighty Xev? Last time I had to reactivate my old smartphone and then redo this one, but hopefully I don't have to go through that again?
Btw, I love the ROM. The right blend of stock and cool homebrew apps

Try programming one more time and reboot.. if that fails, switch to another compatible phone on the plan and switch right back. I had this issue crop up once, but it was odd because I didn't need to program the phone a 2nd time for it to start working ;. (Meaning, I switched the phone off the plan, and then put it right back on it)
If you program the phone from scratch again, try typing ##PST#, let service tools load up, THEN program via *228. I tired doing it both ways, during my testing with programming, but only had that issue crop up once (so I thought it was isolated to just me that one time.. hence me asking people to wait a few mins before programming). Did you try to program during initial setup (not sure if that option reset itself after after the new drivers install.. I haven't had time to check), or after the main screen came up? (sounds to me like you waited.. but I'm just waking up... urgh OT at work is killing me..)
