[Q] HELP tp2 wont wake up unless power button is hit - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Hey guys having some trouble with my tp2, just flashed with one NRGZ's roms and now the phone wont wake from hibernate unless one of two things happen, either I press the power button on the top of the phone or I pull the styus out, ive read about people with problems with the phone not waking up at all unless its reset or the battery is pulled, im not having this problem but I want the phone to come out of sleep when i slide out the keyboard, any ideas for solutions other than flashing back to original rom?

Have u checked your settings and saw what buttons wake up the phone.
Besides the tp2 only wakes up when you hit the power or pull the stylus

That's exactly the way it works even on a shipped rom. If you want it to wake when you slide the keyboard out you will probably have to write a script or edit the registry to do it.

well, mine (sprint branded rhodiumW) wakes up when I slide the keyboard out and I use this feature a lot. I'm using a shipped rom right now and this worked out of the box

Ditto that, the Sprint ROM wakes on keyboard slide.

Disregard my babbling!

After a crazy night im having a couple of small problems w/ my tilt.
1:when i hold the power button and it asks me if i wanna turn it off (i click yes) it just resets instead of turning off.
2:the backlight for the buttons up in front (windows, ok, iexplorer, msgs, and the soft keys) just doesnt want to turn off no matter what i do whether the screen is off or on it just stays on.
3:when i try to turn on the cube that l26 wm6.1 comes w/ i just get a black screen and flash lite turns on but the cube doesnt appear.
These arent critical issues but id appreciate ur help
p.s. i tried a hard reset and it didnt help, should i try flashing another rom

I'm not sure about the problems you're having as i didn't have any of those problems with mine. I would recommend that you check out Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19199 UC RTM. I've been using it for awhile and i'm loving it.
Or try to ask these question in the thread connected to the rom u are using.

I assume you're talking about the long power press key. What do you think would happen when your device is powered off? Of course it's turned off and when you turn it back on, it's going to boot up the device. Want a different behavior? Try a short press and it'll just turn off the screen instead.
That is weird. Got me stumped.
Hope this helps!

im trying to turn it off completely w/ the long press power key like it is suppose to and i get the little warning:"Power will be turned off, and you may lose data if you have not saved them. Do you want to continue?" but instead of powering off i get a soft reset.
Wow, that is weird
Hmm, not sure if the default button behavior changed from WM6.0 to WM6.1, but you could always check by flashing back down to WM6.0...

well ill try that but it was working in 6.1 for about a week so it might be something hardwarish hopefully not but well see. no thoughts about #2 though? cuz thats the thing that is really bugging me.
ill actually try your new rom first cuz i see that theres a power off option in the quick link so hopefully that works if not ill try going back to 6.0

I have the long press power button assigned to an application though. If when choosing 'power off device' still resets insted of turning off your device, I'm completely stumped to what your problem is, as you've now flashed your OS back to WM6.0 and my ROMs include 1.27.14.09 radio...
ok so when i flashed back to your rom the power issue still exists but the buttons lighting up and not turning off is finally gone . i think the power issue has something to do w/ the battery cuz it acted up after the flash twice (it would say battery low even though it was at 100% and then it would just soft reset and it would be fine) so ill get another battery in the coming days and if thats the problem then fine if not ill have a spare battery anyway so its a win win
Also clean off the battery contacts (phone and battery). If necessary with something mildly abrasive.
Mike
well i solved the thing that was bugging me most which was the fact that the buttons backlight wouldnt turn off. the power thing isnt that big of a deal.
thnx alex i appreciate the help

Try Factory Reset first...

i found the solution.. one is by doing full factory reset.. or updating your phone.. and if this does not work then the screen has to be replaced. as the small film inside the phone has got damaged..
why dont work it
Common complaint with the Samsung Galaxy's unfortunately, and maybe even some other Samsung types.
For my i9000m, the "return" soft key won't work if certain apps are running in the background. I know for sure that WhatsApp is one of them, especially if there is a pending message. I think CSipSimple unfortunately is another one.
Try going to Settings>Apps>Manage running services and kill anything that is non-essential. If that doesn't work, try temporarily un-installing the apps that run in the background and restarting the phone.
I found which apps cause problems by process of elimination. Luckily the the problematic ones are not ones I really need.
EDIT: Just realized that Settings>Apps>Manage running services does not show all running apps. I used Astra's Task Killer to get a complete list of running services. Sure enough, I installed CSipSimple yesterday and it was running in the background and killing my soft key functionality.

Capacitive Buttons Glitch

Hey guys,
So I just bought a 2month used Infuse 4G originally locked to AT&T.
I've been noticing some issues and will try to explain it as clear as I can. Supposedly the person I bought it from said it was an OS issue...Hope you all can shed some light!
So pretend you're using your lovely android Infuse 4G and you're texting. All of a sudden you find yourself at the home screen, interrupted from your messaging. A couple of "huh's?" and "...wtf"'s you resume re-typing your text message.
Later you're on the highway driving to a new joint. The GPS signal has finally locked and you're cruising. All of a sudden, your GPS asks you if you want to end navigation. You look at your phone as if its a zombie and you quickly tap the 'cancel' option. Moments later, you notice the phone is back at the home screen and Google maps navigation is running in the background. You bring it back up. A few minutes later, the menus at the bottom come up. You tap the screen to make it go away and keep driving. This happens many more times while you drive even though you've already taken off the phone case.
So it seems like a ghost is touching the capacitive buttons. Not just one of those, ALL of them (Menus, home, search, back) while using the phone. It's not very frequent, but its enough to be aggravating.
Please advise, thanks!
Is there a case or screen protector on the phone? if so try removing and see if the problem persists

No offense but maybe when you hold your phone in landscape mode your palm touches them. Happens to me all the time.

Most likley a kernel issue.Go to your about section and check your kernel and rom version....if your already on a custom rom/kernel, then you might have to Odin back to stock.

It's not an O/S issue .... well, it may be on YOUR device but not a general issue. If you do an Odin full restore to stock and still have the problem you now know why the guy sold it after 2 months.

None taken! I've actually left the phone w.o a case on a table. Its pretty scary to see your phone randomly show the menu from the home screen as if you pressed the button and then close that menu itself as if you were to press the back button...

Not sure what an Odin full restore is, but i'll look into it and give it a shot. Not surprisingly, my Infuse 4G is also among the few that have a GPS signal issue. The phone locks after 30 mins if Im lucky...
I didn't pay $434 for a phone that doesnt work properly/involves tweaking just to make simple features work...*sigh*

Power button magically stopped working

Out of nowhere my power button magically no longer works. Kind of a huge deal since I use my phone for work a TON. At first I thought it was the ROM but then I rebooted into recovery and discovered it doesn't work in there either...... but by some sort of miracle though my phone magically boots itself up when I swap batteries in it....
I am rooted and running Beans 20.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

You can get an app called button savior from Google play that allows you to create on screen keys to turn off your screen.
Various xposed modules allow you to remap your physical keys. If you don't know about the xposed framework I highly suggest looking into it.
Furthermore I believe some custom roms have key mapping built in.

My power button just started malfunctioning too. I'm on Odin barebones 4.1.2 stock and the problem persists.
It sounds like a lot of people are getting this problem. If you use that knowledge to your advantage, I've heard people convince Samsung it's a manufacturing problem and got it repaired outside of Warranty. The power button itself is sautered onto the motherboard, so unless you really trust a mobile repair company, best option is work directly with Samsung.
That being said, I'm going to look for an Xposed Framework module that can remap the power button.
I looked for one, didn't really find what I was looking for... selling mine on ebay now to pay for my new phone...

Wow. My power button just stopped working also.
My phone is stock.
I did replace the glass myself a couple months ago and it's been working fine until about a week ago. Was wondering if that had anything to do with it.
Interesting to see I'm not the only one having issues.
Kind of timely now that the S5 is coming out this week.

This is happening to a lot of people. I'm sure the s4 will start having this problem followed by the s5 after a year and some months. Im done with samsung phones until they start using different parts. Actually thinking about the next nexus phone and hack a msata drive into it with a custom vacume formed case. The only reason I haven't owned one is because of the storage limitation. I think a 200+ gigabyte msata strapped to the back would fix that problem.

Hey guys, mine originally starting messing up on Saturday, and then Sat night and all day Sun is was fine, and now it is doing it again. I even installed a new rom and it is still doing it so now I am convinced it is purely physical and not rom-related. What are you guys going to do?
I have the Wireless Phone Protection for my phone and am thinking about using that to my advantage to get a new device....question is I've never done it before. If I say I have a physical problem with my phone then won't Verizon want it returned? That will make me have to unroot it and bring it back to out of box state which is a big headache. What if I just say I lost it or it got stolen? Am I better off going that route?
EDIT: Also forgot to mention that along with these power button issues my S3 also will not reboot on its own. If I select Reboot (be it from the power button menu, notification pulldown, etc) it will just shut off and not reboot.....but if I yank the battery and put it back in it will then reboot to recovery. Same deal if I do a normal reboot, haven to yank and replace battery. You guys having these issues too?
So a couple of days ago my power button started acting wonkie as well. I would push it and it basically acted sticky. I would push once but it would register twice or as a long press. Either turning the screen on and off or bring up the reboot menu. So I did the xposed button remapping. Worked pretty well, but if I restarted the phone it would do a weird haptic feedback thing every couple of seconds before finally booting up.
So I wasn't satisfied with just living with it being a hardware issue. So I downloaded latest cleanrom to flash from cm11. I rebooted recovery and now it just vibrates every couple of seconds. Would not make it to twrp. It will get to cm Samsung boot screen but then just goes back to vibrating black screen. I took out battery and popped out power button but same results.
Any suggestions? Think power button can be fixed by repair shop or is it time to go back to my trusty droid incredible until I can upgrade.

It can be fixed. There is also a way of temporarily making the power button work but I don't feel like explaining it again. If you do some searching there are at least 20 threads that have the temp fix in it.
