Innocell 3300mAh Extended Life Battery (no longer 3000mah)(pics update, Review later) - Epic 4G Accessories

Just received the battery from mobilecityonline.com. Ordered Tuesday came on Saturday $60 shipped. Here are some pic's will do a review when I can test it. Any question's please ask.
Initial impression:
The battery itself is bigger than the China 3500mah, The back cover doesn't fit over the sedeio battery. The plastic is thinner than the china back cover but thicker than the oem samsung back cover, not able to stand it up on it's side. The case it difficult to put on, but fits very well. It's gonna suck when my phone locks up and i have to pull the battery.

Just order one came out to about $60 the don't charge tax at least in California. Still have my cheapo ebay 3500mah battery but it still doesn't last me the day. Will post review when i Get it.

Hrm....so then what about those of us that bought the 3000 mAh Innocell? I'm wondering if this battery is actually 300 mAh bigger or if they just changed the rating on the battery. I'd like to get my extra 300 mAh, especially as much as the 3000 mAh cost.

According to androidcentral.com it is a different battery.
http://androidforums.com/epic-4g-accessories/244950-review-seidio-3000mah-extended-life-battery.html
Customer79: Hi Kevin,
Customer79: I have a Samsung Epic 4G phone.
Kevin: hi
Customer79: I see that you have a 3000 mAh and a 3300 mAh battery for this phone. Is this indeed the case or is it a mis-type of some kind?
Kevin: we have updated the 3000 to 3300
Customer79: If I bought the 3000 last week, is it a 3000 or is it in reality a 3300?
Kevin: 3000mAh is 3000mAh
Kevin: the new version is 3300mAh
Customer79: I think I read something somewhere that suggested that the 3000 was originally intended to be a 3300, but was de-rated to correspond better with real-life use. Is this the case? Could I get performance approaching 3300 with my recently purchased 3000 battery?
Kevin: no that is not possible
Customer79: OK. I sure wish I knew the 3300 was coming up before I ordered the extended 3000 batteries for my 2 household phones.
So...I guess the 3300 is a 3300. I think we all have to accept that technology is constantly changing with these phones. You got to hop in when you can and expect things to constantly upgrade and change. Clearly, my battery situation is much better with this 3000 mAh battery. My daily life no longer revolves around find a place to plug in my phone. Is 300 mAh really going to change your day? Not really.

Yea it's not a huge deal to me, at least not enough to go through the process of exchanging my battery. Just wish they would have made some mention of the 3300 coming so I could have just waited. Of course they wouldn't do that, because then no one would buy their 3000's and they'd have a bunch of leftover stock.

Would love to see a test between the 3300 mah and the cheapo 3500 mah batteries. Any chance that you would feel like running a test like that???

I planning too when i get the sedio battery.

While I haven't ran a methodical test but I know my Innocell 3000 mAh definitely lasts longer (or so it seems, placebo effect?) than my generic 3000 mAh. Of course, if the Seidio is actually 3000 mAh, then that should be right since the generic 3000 mAh is just two 1200 mAh batteries wired together.

Seidio extended batteries are usually around 82% of rated capacity.
That would put the Seidio 3000mah at around 2460 mah.
That is why I would love to see a test between the two that reduces all variables to make it as fair as possible. Something like putting the phone in airplane mode with brightness and volume maxxed, setting the phone to play a movie file repeatedly until it turns off and measuring the time.

Ah I see. I would do this if I had my spare phone on hand, but unfortunately I don't. I might do it one of these days when I'm at the library studying.
Are there any other suggestions as to how to test the battery life?

The only way to test the "battery life" is to see how many charge and discharge cycles you can get. You need a tester circuit that accelerates this process or you will be doing this for a long time. Alternatively you can do a discharge test and so long as you use the same circuit you can then make some intelligent guesstimates in comparing the batteries.
The problem with mfgs are that they don't use the same parameters in testing. Thus two identical batteries can be rated at different capacities.
The short answer: Buy a high quality battery and forget the BS.

I hear that, Hopefully the sedio preforms well. I am starting to realize it makes more sense carrying an extra oem battery then having a cheapo extended one, due to the size it adds.

I got 3 extra samsung batteries and so extended batteries don't make a lot of sense. I usually get them for free as well.

I too have a couple of spare batteries, but it was a pain in the ass having to keep them with me and swap batteries, charge batteries, etc etc. I much prefer having one extended as opposed to multiple spares.

Same here, the only downside is the thickness the battery adds to the phone. I HAVE to use my extended battery at work since I'm nowhere near a charger, listen to my music all day and paint in a dungeon so there is a lot of crap that could possibly get inside my phone when switching batteries but on the weekends I rock the regular battery.

For me, the only disadvantage to the thickness is not being able to use a case. I don't mind the thickness at all (I was a former Treo lover LOL), but it bugs me not having a case on the back half of my phone.

If you are talking about the extended battery cover then you just have to push on it really hard to snap it into place, it also helps to squeeze the edges inward

New 1000 mAh standard size battery from Mugen

Touch Diamond will be equiped with 1000 mAh battery without sacrificing the shape, size and impression of using extended battery.
That's great, although the capacity isn't that much higher than the original....
Release date?
100 ???
will that really make a real diffrance????
The Mugen webpage tells release date is end of August. There might have not much difference between the OEM 900 mAh with this 1000 mAh, but it is good that Mugen can enhance the battery by this 100 mAh. User can still choose to buy OEM extended battery which has 440 mAh more but has to use another cover with extended size.
you guys say its not that much - but its an 11% increase! which if your battery lasts 24 hours now - this new one will be an extra 2 and a half hours - its up to you guys if its worth it - im considering it!

I'm not too impressed with the lifetime of the Mugen batteries. I've had two in different PDA's and I've experienced short lifetimes.
not as short as the life in my diamond battery!
Seidio say they will have an OEM sized extended battery that will be more along the lines of 1100mah.. That's the one I'm waiting for.

I wonder of its lifetime - some of my rechargable 2500 mAh last shorter than those of 2000 mAh running the exact same device after a few usages. Let's hear the experience once you have tried it.
No probs - if they ever release it... They said end of July, so I guess we can expect it any day now.

Well, there is an OEM sized battery on Siedos site now, but it is only 1000 mAh.
In europe the diamond have a 900mAH so 1000mAH doesn't give more. Perhaps 1 or 2 hours in stand by ?

I know - what a shame....
It's a shame the promised capacity hasn't appeared, but the 11% increase will certainly help me. With the original to carry as a spare I doubt I'll have to change often, but atleast I'll have the option.
As far as the HTC delay is concerned, I have a feeling they may surprise us, with an original sized extended capacity. Their theme is 'innovation' afteral, and there have been some interesting developments in Lion batteries recently. They have the punch to make investments in the right place. I'm holding out hope anyway lol.
I found a 1050mAh battery

There is one little issue with these kind of batteries, they may catch fire if not properly designed and for the phone. I the east you get batteries rated from A to AAA depending on how good they are and the risk. It doesn't happen often but make sure your phone is ventilated (not put on a carpet or covered) while recharging over night
Do you believe what capacity they print on that battery??? I wouldn't unless someone test it. I used to work with Cadex battery analyzer and believe me, there are so many lies on batteries even brand new ones as GP, Energizer, etc. Consider buying it...

Mugen Power 1800mAh Battery or EVO 4G 1800 mAh Battery?

So, I was thinking of getting an extended battery for my Desire Z and I need some opinions. The batteries I found are:
Mugen Power 1800 mAh
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...nded-battery-for-htc-desirez-t-mobile-g2.html
EVO 4G 1800 mAh (2 Batteries)

Price doesn't make a difference too me, I just need better battery life.
They're both pretty much the same thing. If you read through the other battery thread you would know... but I don't blame you for not reading it that thread is loooong!
Anyway I'd go with the chichitec ones since there's 2 of them and a wall charger. Seems like a much better deal.
The mugen fits better. it's made for our phones. the evo 4g leaves a slight bulge on the battery door. annoying for the OCD.

The one he posted is not an OEM EVO battery. It is made by chichitec for the EVO. And you can peel the wrapper off of it and it'll fit fine with no bulge.

actually it doesn't. i have the chichitec batteries. i took the wrapper off, AND sanded it. and there is still a bulge. its minor, but it's there.
If you use the Chichi's the bulge in the battery door will eventually ruin the battery
door . It bends the hinges because of the stress over time and then if you decide
to go with the OEM or Mugen battery the battery door is loose and doesnt fit right
anymore . The Chichi's are a bad idea for Vision/Z owners because it ruins the phone.
If you dont care about a $500+ device then so be it but I take care of my phones
like theyre my babies . A cheap $30 battery isnt worth ruining an expensive device .

I sanded mine so much there was very little plastic left . The metal casing
is what kept the door from closing fully . And its rigged to have a piece of
paper under the battery to keep it from shorting out on the SD card tray .
The Chichi's are a bad idea . The Mugen 1800 fits correctly with no rigging
and door issues .
Btw, does anyone know the best place where to buy the Mugen 1800mAh from, their website has it for $45.00 plus free shipping, but 15-25 days shipping and a mugen distributor has it for around $53 including shipping and with a 5% off coupon.
I've been running red Chichitech Evo batteries for 2 and half months, no bulg, no warped door over time, no problems. All I did was remove the wrapper, no sanding or cutting needed.

Having purchased the mugen 1800, I've seen a minimal improvement in battery life across multiple roms. I thought an additional 500 mah would have I bigger improvement.
When I say minimal, an additional 2 hours, I got 8 hours from stock and only 10 from mugen. Obviously I'm a heavy user but I expected at least 30% increase for 30% more mah.
I think I may have been better served with the seido 1700.

My thoughts basically. I'm definitely not seeing a 30-40% improvement in battery life!
I was unfortunate to receive a bad Chichi battery I think. The battery kept restarting on me every time I close my keyboard after using it. The battery also would not power on the phone on it's own. I eventually got it running for an hour and it just died. Tried charging it but couldn't get it to work. No way I could exchange the batter after I have taken the wrapper off and clip some of the plastic off to make it fit. I don't know why people are saying there is no bulge when there especially is one with minor modification.
I would go with a Mugen or Seidio extended battery.
This is turning into a hard decision for me lol, don't know which one to get...
If I were you, and I have the extra cash, I'd go for the mugen.
But, if you don't and need to save all the cash you can get, (like me) go for the red chichis. I went for it and my chichis are awesome! the first week it was worse than the stock battery but then after that the performance was phenomenal. I would usually get around 11 hours of battery life with light use. Now I get around 15 hours or more with moderate use.
Today I made about 1 hour and 30 mins worth of phone calls, some facebooking, some xda browsing, little bit of music, one 5 minute youtube vid, and some regular browsing. I'm currently at 42 percent left of battery life and took my phone off the charger a little less than 11 hours ago.
But the thing with the chichis are that sometimes you get the good ones, sometimes you get the bad ones. My 2 cents.

Extended Battery Help

We need to find out if anyone has a battery that is bigger than 1500 mah. It looks like the Optimus 2x uses the same battery so I would hope someone has a 1650 or 1800 mah out there. Let me know if a source is found. It would be nice to have an external wall charger as well.

Check on Ebay every few days. I haven't seen one yet but they make it for most phones. The batteries are thicker than the standard ones and it also comes with a different rear cover to accept the thicker battery. It is usually from China and around $15 or so.

Sometimes there are extended batteries made that are the same exact size as the stock one but have a larger capacity. For example, I bought a Seidio extended 1750mAh battery for my Droid X which was the same size as the original battery but had about 250 more mAh to it...it gave me a couple more hours on one charge. Hopefully something similar is made for the G2X!

That's the nice thing about the Seidio ones. They are a legit company, and they can usually squeeze an extra 150-400 mAh out of the standard size battery. They aren't too terribly expensive, either. I am thinking for now, though, I may have to give one of those ebay ones with the separate battery charger a try....I have had good luck with ebay laptopt batteries, so....it might be worth the $20 for it.
Also, I will start spamming Seidio's twitter. Lol.

Actually, they just re-label their inferior batteries with bigger mAh numbers and make a big profit for their efforts.
No company has ever made a legitimate higher capacity OEM size battery ever.

Agreed. Seidio does make some legit extended batteries, like the 2500 and 3500 mAh one's they put out for the EVO and Droid X, etc... but the ones that are the same size as the stock battery don't hold any extra juice, they take advantage of the loop hole in the rules concerning how companies can label batteries.
Batteries have a range of mAh that they hold. Say the battery in our device has a range of 1300 to 1700 mAh, most companies will use the average and label the battery at 1500 mAh. Batteries have a range of mAh that they hold. Say the battery in our device has a range of 1300 to 1700 mAh, most companies will use the average and label the battery at 1500 mAh. There is no range. All the OEM batteries I've tested were within 3% of their tagged rating.
Regarding Seidio, there is no explanation as to why their "same size & higher capacity" batteries consistently deliver less power than an OEM battery.
But don't let me stop anyone from buying their snake oil.
Regarding Mugen, that first link shows a disassembled 3000mAh battery that contained 2 1200mAh cells. I call it fraud, plain and simple. They all do it, I've proved it.
i just ended up getting this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N63AC6 . i have a body glove case and they're a pain to snap off everytime i want to replace my battery while at work. for me, this is much easier.
now if they made a good extended battery with a custom back cover like i had on my g1, i'd get it.

You ever tested any of the batteries from htc express? Those seem to work well.
Currently I am using Veho 5Ah external battery while I am waiting for 2 more batteries.
With regular microUSB cable, it works fine.

$35 isn't bad at all.

Definitely stay away from the 1600mah. I saw those and I emailed one of the buyers.. and asked him for his input on the battery b4 I made a purchase. He said "stay away, they are junk and only hold a charge for a couple of hours. save your money."

PSA: There is no magic that will cram more maH into an equal sized battery

It is sad, but true. All the ebay, mugen, seidio etc batteries that claim 1800/900/2000/whatever capacity are scams. same size battery = same capacity.
The best bet for additional capacity with the stock backplate is the evo3D stock battery, which is 1.5mm thicker and has a couple hundred more mah.

Well the evo 3d battery is 3.8v and ours is 3.7v so that might mess up your phone.
And my extended battery not only is a tiny bit bigger but it also weighs more and gives me about 15 hrs a day.
If you can get the type of battery efficiency I get on a daily basis with normal usage then maybe I might believe you.

all phones have built in voltage control circuitry. 0.1v is not going to harm anything.
that is how phones can handle a stock battery going from ~4v to ~3v while it discharges.
3.8v vs 3.7v is just the nominal voltage of the battery. the voltage of the evo3d is higher since it's capacity is higher.
Well, sorry to rain on your PSA but I was running stock battery (and quite happy with the performance of the stock btw), I opted to try the Anker battery. With little to no expectations, I was really looking for an extra battery, so spending 12usd wasn't bad compared to my Seidio extended battery for my N1 that cost double of the Anker.
I was simply expecting stock performance and got a bit more than expected. Is it magic? Who the heck cares, it works!

haha yes, pun was intended. I'm curious: do you still have your stock battery?
Could you compare thickness with the Anker? if it is thicker, there's where your extra capacity is coming from.

Yes the Anker battery is a smidge thicker, not much to the naked eye. As posted in another thread, it's slightly heavier as well. And that could account for a bit more capacity.
The Anker battery without a doubt lasts alot longer than the stock battery!
I don't think all these stuff matter as long as user experience/reviews with the batteries prove positive.

And what about a pentiline or normal AA battery that would fit in a mp3 player or kids toy or even a dildo? All same sizes and yet thy exists in different capacities?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
he's absolutely right. theres a very large capacity differential between standard batteries of varying internal composition. easiest reference, test out a lithium ion battery versus a nickel cadmium battery (both come in AA), which are exactly the same size, and tell me theres no more capacity in one than the other.
Electrical capacitance, as we have seen throughout history has nothing to do with size, so the OP is arguing against the progression of physics. 50 years ago, a battery capable of powering a sensation would have been as big as a book, and yet they used that "magic" you were saying didnt exist to "cram more mAH" into a smaller battery.
Size means very little. Internal construction and quality mean everything. I have seen D cell batteries that are really a AA inside a D cell case. Perhaps the HTC battery is built the same? I dont know, nor do I intend to find out.
If you drain the battery at a constant rate (no, not with your phone, but with more accurate equipment), then you can easily figure its capacity. There is no arguing with that...The aftermarket batteries have been found to have MUCH GREATER capacity than the HTC battery. That is confirmed, 100%.
Matt
However it may be my ChiChiTec battery permits me to go a whole day without charging whereas the stock did not. That's good enough for me.

you are an idiot.. no offence intended but you havent read any of the threads on here about all the batteries availaible.
QUALITY OF THE CELLS MEANS EVERYTHING!
crap cells wont hold high amounts of energy, they wont hold as stable a voltage under load and wost of all heat up more than a quality cell.
my anker battery does weigh 2g more than the stock battery and is 0.2mm thicker but that amount of extra mass gets me 4-5 hours more use over the stock battery and thats to do with the quality of the cells more than the exta weight and size.
my stock battery heats up a lot and fast under load and causes the whole phone to get stupidly hot. Anker battery DOES NOT do this at all and only the lower part of my phone gets hot.
some cheap batteries are crap, but there are plenty of good ones too.
if you still think same size = same capacity then ask yourself this, why are some batteries worse than the stock one yet still the same size? if some can be worse then some can be better .... Right???
heres a whole website of information about batteries you can disagree with if you like.
http://batteryuniversity.com/
Here is a size comparision between the stock battery (top) and the chichitec (bottom):
You guys are missing the point of the op. This is not about comparing 2 different battery chemistries. We are comparing an OEM Li-ion battery to an after market one.
The only evidence of an aftermarket battery ever being superior ( in the case that they are the same size and weight) has only been via anecdotal perception of the buyer.
If an aftermarket battery is larger/heaver, there's a chance it could out perform the OEM unit, but when tested using capacity measuring test equipment, It will usually test well below the label mAh rating, unlike the OEM cell which is usually within 3% of its labeled mAh rating.
That's not to say these batteries are not a good value for the money, they are. $12 for a replacement battery is a really good value, especially if its at least as good as the OEM unit.
The real snake oil is in the high capacity multi cell batteries, where the manufacturers have been caught (by me) to have intentionally over stated the mAh rating.
If you get better phone life from your 1700-1950mAh aftermarket battery, that's great! But I doubt you're getting more than 80% of the capacity that's stamped on the label.
I have not seen any independent tests of Sensation batteries yet, no less one that shows an after market battery delivering its labeled capacity.
After reading the many positive reviews of the Anker 1900mAh battery, I just ordered one. Lets see how it measures.

Got the 4500mah from Ebay....

It was $10 with free shipping so I thought it was worth a shot... I received it about 2 days ago and I cannot tell the difference between the stock battery..
This sucks!
So yes, obviously I didn't expect it to be 4500 mah for $10 but I thought it will be at least 3200 or 3000. It is not.
I just want to warn others before they buy it and to hear other peoples experiences if there are any.
If you want a decent extended battery, buy the Hyperion.
I have that batt and the matching honeycomb case you can get with it and I love it.
I never have to worry about battery life anymore (even running stuff like iheart radio or Sirius online which both totally kill battery life)
I even like the feel/weight of the phone with it installed. When I bought it, I figured I would only use it occasionally. Now that I am used to using it, I never take it off the phone. The phone with the standard battery and my awesome rock quicksand case feels way too thin to me now (something I never thought I would say)
thanks morton....
I will try to see if I can return this battery.
I looked at amazon for the battery you recommended. I found it but I also found another battery: (I can't post a link)
It's called QCell and it is rated at 4200.
Any thoughts on this one?
The one you recommended is more popular but this one has NFC and it also has much more reviews.
Another thing to consider is the separate cradle battery charger that comes with a 2100 battery. This way there is always a battery on charge for a quick swap.
Weigh it. At the most basic, the amount of active material in a battery determines its overall capacity. A 4500mAh battery should be significantly heavier (roughly double) than the stock battery.
Another vote here for the Hyperion 4000 mAh battery. Very happy with it!!!
:good:

Think I'll wait a bit to see if anyone brings out a slim 2800 to 3300 battery with a matching back.

I find this to be the easiest for me. I hate extra bulk, so I just have multiple standard batteries ready on tap.
