No help in the general area... WiFi Tether Question

I did my searching here and google and cant seem to find out how to get the WEP 128bit Encryption to work on my MT3G. I have enabled it in the settings and it still shows unsecure on my laptop when connecting.
Phone info:
Firmware - 1.5
Baseband - 62.50S.20.17U_2.22.19.26I
Kernal - 2.6.29-drizzy-drake [email protected] #33
ROM - MyHero2.2
Build - 3.03.703.3 Over
Any help would be great!

I have not. This featured has worked on previos ROMs and now that I have found a ROM that is fast and suits me, it does not work. I'm sure it has something to do with the IPTables or wpa_supplicant file, but I do not know enough about that to fix it. Hints why Im asking for help.

so, you are using that "myhero"-rom ... right? which version of wpa_supplicant is installed? type "wpa_supplicant -v" in a console. i bet it's v0.5.10!

I am running the MyHero2.2 and you are correct... the wpa_supplicant version is v0.5.10. Should I have another version? How would one get it and install it?

wep-encryption does not work on ANY hero-rom. see here for instance: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=194#c39
if you want wep-encryption take another rom for your sapphire. this is a rom-related issue:

I will look at that Harry. Thanks. I have had the encryption working on a few Hero ROMS before. I may just have to revert back to one of the older ones til a new one comes out. I like the look and feel of the Hero on my MT3G over the Normal Android. Its not as boring.

Wifi problem
The camera is working on Polaris
But I can't turn on the Wifi. I installed Myn's Wifi update. It is turn on the Wifi but if I save the settings it said that unexpedted error, so I can't save the settings

Did you use latest nbh?

The only problem to resolve is Video Playback now...and I can Flash my Nand
Only 2 questions:
1) There will be possibile to enable camera also in other builds (like Vanilj) ?
2) Could I use Camera with the only Zimages works for me (29-04-2010) ?

there's camera update for Vanilj, and it work for polaris...but still not stable. crash few time

i have too say it's the best rom yet , incredible stable and fast

[ROM-AOSP] [12-21-2010] 2.3.1 by Kalozzo fully unsupported

Don't know if this was already posted but I was keeping an eye on Kalozzo's Twitter account and just saw he posted DHD 2.3.1 AOSP (fully UNsupported).
All his work, I'm just posting here.

its an early version, and no support yet .. its possible that it doesnt always install right. Did you install anything over it? just do a clean install ... no kernels, no apps unless otherwise specified.
and again, its an early version ... so it might not always work.

so this is a cyanogen rom and not a completely stock version of android?

I am a newb and afraid to root yet (plus waiting to see what updates still might be coming from VS.)
I can tell you my gtab is world's better now and market Works, its faster and I actually like the dashboard for "Corporate use " (looks nice on my desk and doesn't give the impression I have a "toy" out when I'm supposed to be working.

as far as mods go, this is from the stock firmware so any mods that are being made for the new nexus 7 should work fine (for example the advanced power menu that i added). that goes for kernels too, those are device specific, not rom specific

Xposed works on 4.3. You have to install 2.1.4 then flash a zip in recovery.

I'm not sure if you just missed them or what, but some of the Google apps you said you had removed are still in the zip. Currents, Earth, Ears, Games, and then I stopped looking. It's not a big deal, I'm removing them from the downloaded zip, but I wanted to let you know!

well this is based on the released firmware, if there is a patch out there for that, i will see if i can get it included, otherwise i will wait for the next firmware update which will probably have it in there.
no my next release would be a couple of mods im working on, which in reality can be zip files to flash so you wont need to reinstall or reflash the whole thing, but will also be added to the rom as well for anyone who has not tried this one yet

Gotcha. Well, the update is included in the latest factory images, so if you're using that, it should be good.
