Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. I've been checking the forums off and on for a couple of weeks and have yet to see the issue brought up.
The title says it all. Ever since I first got my EVO I've been changing the icons within the apk files for all my apps; both system and data apps. And, I never had an issue... Until just recently.
Changing the icons as I do necessitates changing them every time there is an update to an app. However, within the past couple of weeks a few updated apps are Force Closing after I change the icon. I've tried clearing the data and cache for that app as well as clearing the cache for the phone but to no avail. If I redownload the app from the Market all is well again but as soon as I change the icon it Force Closes when I try to launch it. It is only on a couple of apps but is driving me crazy and seems to be increasing. So far I have had it happen with Voicesearch, Root Explorer, and Barcode Scanner. Does anyone have any ideas on the cause and more importantly a fix or workaround?
Thx

Not sure if this is your problem but i had that happen once. It was because the app had switched from a "rgb" png to a indexed icon. I had to mod the icon I was dropping in to make it match. Like I said not sure how or why this worked but worked for me.
Interesting. I've got to admit I am unfamiliar with "indexed icons." How do you determine whether it is an rgb png or an indexed icon and assuming it is an index icon how do you convert a png to one?

So so far, yesterday I've had the multi-touch keyboard force close maybe 4 times, the drag racing game 8, and a soft reboot. I have not rooted yet... holding off until there is more of a point. Anyone else having issues like this? I have 28 more days to do an exchange, I wanted to see if it's just my phone or not & either way I'll give it another week to see how it fares. Soft reboot occurred at maybe 40 hours or so of run time.
I use Go keyboard which has a far better layout and the swype ability as well, never had a fc. I dont play games. Have gotten a few fc's on various apps for unknown reasons, a few freezes in apps, but it happens so rarely that its not an issue. I did have to do a hard reset the day I got it though, but it was my fault.

try doing a battery pull, not saying it would help but it definitely wouldnt hurt.
Fter rooting FC's also
After rooting (One-click method) and running Titanium Backup Pro to get a good backup of my phone. I now have a similar FC issue. Every time I try to open a contacts details, in the contacts app that starts, it will FC on me. The same thing happened to the phone app, works only if I dial a number from the keypad, click on a recent call in log, baam! FC I had to install GO Contacts/Dialer and they work fine. I tried to clear the cache/factory reset but the issue persists after I just loose all my info.....
Any way to Flash back to stock yet, think its a little to soon to root this racehorse....
I now have 3 apk's in TB that have a line through them. I cannot backup/restore/freeze the apps. Under the lined out app it says "No Backup yet"
com.motorola.blur.contacts.sync.yahoo
com.motorola.blur.provider.linkedin
com.occamy.andriod.motoxmayhem1lite
Anyone that can post these apk's so I could re-install/repair would help me greatly. I had this similar issue on my old cappy and replacing the app fixed it. I think when TB makes a backup and closes the app it some how actually deletes the app and/or corrupts it and then you have to replace it.
Rooting should no effect on the problems you are having. Did you freeze anything with TB, if so unfreeze everything, if not try unistalling it and see if the problems persist
If you are rooted, download ROM Manager and run fix permissions. That should help out with FC's.
Samsung Focus running Mango. All of the live tiles for 3rd party apps nolonger update unless I actually open the app.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled apps.
I've cleared out the Endpoints registry keys.
I've rebooted the phone too many times to count.
All of the 1st party live tiles still update normally. What's the deal? How do I fix this?
I don't want to have to hard-reset my phone...
Went ahead and did a hard-reset of my phone back to factory defaults, spent all day getting all my apps reinstalled, live tiles are working normally again.
How do I prevent this from happening in the future? I shouldn't have to periodically wipe a phone to keep it working...
I'm having the same problem on my Lumia 800 and I really want to get this sorted but would like to avoid a hard reset. So if anyone has got any ideas, it would be appreciated.
With the Tango update so close, do you think it would be worth waiting before trying a hard reset? Could an update like this clear whatever the problem could be?
Go to Settings>Apps>background Tasks>Advanced.
Uninstall unused/unnecessary apps from the Lists.
Once done the Live Tiles should start again.

Like I said in my first post, I've been through that. Uninstalled every single app that had a live tile and reinstalled them one-by-one.
Their live tiles never started working again (it IS NOT an issue related to having too many live-tile apps, I was well under the limit). Only thing that fixed it was a hard reset...
I've also been having this happen to my interop-unlocked Verizon Trophy after I manually updated it to 8107. What has been working for me to "re-enable" the third-party live tiles is a really random combination of enabling Wi-Fi and then setting up an alarm with this app overnight, and having the alarm normally activate in the morning. However, it has only been a temporary solution since the live tiles don't update once I restart. I have also disabled unused background tasks, leaving only three applications (lockWidgets, WeatherMaster, and Week View) running.
This is a pretty abstract fix that somehow works for me, but hopefully it works for someone else too.
thank you
Wanted to create some folders in my App Drawer, I already have a couple, and it has stopped working.
I go to App Drawer and tap Edit, but dragging an app over another does not give me a folder, it does nothing.
Also, I cannot remove apps fom existing folders I created over the weekend.
Any ideas on how to correct this?
I've got a customer over email with the same issue. Saw a few others mention it in the last few days as well. Oddly enough, only in the last few days. Haven't got an S6 myself, so let's see if we can solve it here. (Where I don't have to walk people through every button.)
Have you tried force stopping and clearing the cache for Touchwiz?
Easy Mode is off?

Yes, I tried all that first.
Found out the issue was my edited other.xml file. I added the line to alphabetize the apps in the app drawer. Soon as I took it out, folder creation is now working. Funny thing is, had no issues for the last week after I edited it, until yesterday.
Several of my apps does not show up when I hit the recent apps soft key. Of the apps I frequently use that does not show is Facebook, Messenger and Dolphin Browser..
Anybody else experienceing the same issue?
This is quite annoying... Am I the only one who have this issue?
I couldn't tell you (don't remember) what apps were guilty but I've noticed the same thing with several different apps.

I did a check just now, and actually most of the apps I tried did not show up when touching the recent apps soft key. It's also not consistent which apps does not show ?

The recent apps is literally the apps that you accessed most recently (not most frequently). Depending on your Chrome setting (if you are using the Chrome browser) you may have your tabs out in the recent screen as well.
The list will always change, depending on what you looked at last and in what order
I just went to the three apps you mentioned in sequence, and they show up on my recent apps screen.

I know how the recent apps view is supposed to work, so that's not the problem.. As I mentioned in my last post theres some inconsistency in wich apps does not show, but some of them never seems to show. It also sometimes happen that I'm unable to remove all apps from the list. They show up the next time I hit the recent apps soft key.
I'm on build number:
MMB29K.G930FXXU1APB4
I see, that's odd. Not sure what to make of it. I am build APB5, maybe that matters. Verizon pushed out an update last week for March security and to fix wifi issues, if you are on Verizon give it a shot and see if it helps.

I'm from Norway and my phone is not tied to any operator. I am also on the latest update available in my region. I guess I could try to do a facory reset, and see if it helps. But I don't think I'll bother anytime soon..
Problem solved
It seems like i finally found a solution to my problem
After investing a whole day doing several factory resets and installing of apps and settings in different order each time I tracked the problem down to an app I use, called Sidebar Plus. I installed this app and its settings with the help og Helium and all of a sudden some of my apps refused to show in the recent apps view. I then uninstalled Sidebar Plus, did a reboot, and all of my apps now show up in the recent apps view as they should
I now have installed Side Apps Bar - Edge Sidebar instead, and everything seems fine :good:
Recently, as I install an app, I'm finding it to take a long time...several minutes.
I just selected Truecaller from the Play Store to install. It's a small app. It moved from the downloading stage to installing, maybe 5 minutes before I started this thread, and is still in installing mode now. Another interesting thing, it does NOT show it installing in the notifications bar.
I've had this happen with other apps as well.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Try clearing cache and data of the play store, in Settings - Apps. Sometimes it just 'hangs'. Canceling and Install again can fix it too.

Thanks. I'll give it a try,
