Which accessories should I get for the HTC Desire Z? - UK - G2 and Desire Z Accessories

I have recently purchased this phone and noticing it doesn't come with a screen protector, I would like to buy these but all at minimal costs but of quality.
Do I need a silicon case, more than 3 screen protectors, a carry case etc.? What have you bought with yours, and if you're form the UK, where did you buy yours from?

I got 2 extra batteries and a charging dock, my phone never gets plugged in. Usually once every day or day and a half i take the battery out when its almost dead and pop the new one in. Its easy to slide and extra battery in your pocket
I got a G1 slip pocket case or whatever you want to call it. Thats everything I need for now.
I personally dont like screen protectors
I just bought the game gripper last night, since I do play alot of games on my phone hopefully it rocks.

I don't want to be rude.. but why don't you read some of the threads in this section? there are pages and pages of user reviews of different accessories, and you can make your own decisions of which ones you want.

I actually did look at the pages and pages but a lot of the stuff seems to be US based or Canada so not really seen UK selling from those particular brands. Also some of the stuff I'm not too keen on, but I wanted to ask a general question as to what people think is an absolute necessary for this phone, or any other stuff that could go with it.

Some accessories (cases, cords,pouches)

Head over to daydeal.com they have some accessories even a TV out cord that says its for the incredible and g2 ( anyone got extra cash to buy it and see if it works? ) I ordered this clear case with a kickstand I'll put a review when i get it. But take a look. Not much of a selection but might as well be prepared
have no plans of making a fat phone fatter. maybe an invisible shield or BSE but no hard case for me.
Hate to say it, but I don't think we'll be seeing much accessories for this phone. Due to it being a Tmobile phone only, I just don't see many making products for it.
Im gonna get something to protect the back cuz it looks like it gets scratched easily

I'll probably just keep my eye on decalgirl.com and wait for them to release some of their awesome quality skins. I've used their product on all my handheld portable devices that they make skins for.

I doubt only being for tmobile will make it have less accessories. I have so many cases and such for my nexus and the nexus was mostly used on tmobile but now they have it across seas. The iPhones an at&t only phone and it has too many accessories. And to ditto what he said there is also the desire z

I understand that the Desire Z will be out as well, and that still means nothing. All those cases you speak of for the Nexus One are cheap cases found on eBay, or made by some cheap China company. I know because I own a Nexus One as well, and it took a while to find a great case for it.
Also, to compare the new G2 to an iPhone is just stupid. iPhone carries the name, and has been around for years. Of course there's a ton of crap for it. Heck the G2 won't even come near to selling a quarter of what the iPhone, nor will it come close to what the Galaxy S has for that matter.
All I'm saying is that we won't see the nicer accessories made by the better companies make product for this phone. We're just gonna get stuck with those cheap ebay crap.

You can't really blame them. In a business perspective making accessories for the iphone is the most profitable since iphone is, in a sense, dumbed down for the masses. Right now I think Apple and Blackberry combined own at least 50% market share. So unless Android can somehow bring their share of the smartphone market up another 10%, I doubt accessory manufacturers will see accessories for Android devices as a primary source of revenue.
Android devices are made for geeks like us who like to customize instead of having things already premade for us. So I'm sure this aspect will appeal to more and more people in the near future. And from what I've seen, HTC has brilliant marketing campaigns. I'm sure in around 3 or 4 more quarters android will have a much better standing in the smartphone market and more accessories will be made. Just my 2 cents.

I just contacted DecalGirl and they said that the phone is scheduled for R&D for their products. They seem to have a pretty quick turnaround once they have a template made for a device.
i have a 99 cent silicon case for my nexus one which came with a free screen protector. they work great, and have kept my phone flawless.... so cheap ebay stuff works just fine for me.

[Q] Possible Purchase Questions.

Hi all.
Looking to buy a tablet here in Australia today. The xoom is up there. I had a couple of questions though.
I have been reading review after review. There seems to be a lot of complaints about the screen being washed out or you can see the mat of the screen. Also they say it is really bad in sunlight.
Is this something that owners of the xoom agree with or are the reviewers just ipad 2 lovers. I have had a quick look at it in the shops but there is only so much you can do there.
My other question is with charging. I have read that it is only possible to charge with the charger and not through the usb. Is this something that can be activated in later updates or custom roms? Or is it just plain out of the question.
Any info would be great. Or anything else you would like to point out with it be in favor or not would be good. I have been looking at a few but there really is not many 3g models available.
have loved mine - no screen problems - added a steinheil ultrafine screen protector to reduce glare and fingerprints, which were my only complaints. I give up a little clarity, but prefer it (the screen is GLOSSY).
Charging via USB is out of the question... apparently miniusb can't carry the power necessary to charge this 2batt system... battle life is great, though
Wife has a fruit tab... though I like it, I wouldn't trade for anything. in fairness, though, she wouldn't either (she is satisfied with apples limited offering and doesn't care to tinker or tweak, and doesn't need file management - mostly web surfing, email, and kindle).
yeaah my xoom is horrible when theres sunlight -_- the fingerprints is ugly but i got use too it. I'm about to buy a anti-glare screen protector which hopefully will make it better. Anybody have suggestions on which one to buy? Feedback would be appreciated =) Oh and the Battery life is amazing imo and hchxoom is right about the miscro usb charge. Overall i like the xoom, i dont try to compare it cause ive already bought it so goodluck on your decision! Btw running 3g US xoom-stock (thinking about rooting it later on)
bought mine launch week, finally got up the nerve to root last weekend (had to wipe/restore for another reason, figured why not)... wondering why I waited so long
happy with my screen protector - durable, easy to install, definitely helps with glare and prints
where did u get ur screen protector?
Thanks guys.
I find it is usually the way with apple and android. If you have one you will not look at the other. I have DHD phone and do not think i could have a ipad.
I figured this was the case with the charger. I find it so hand though being able to charge with usb.
As i want 3g i do not think there is any other options here in aus as the sgt10.1v is sold out and the 10.1 is not here yet.
Anyway thanks again for the help. Will need to think about it some more.
sgpstore.com, I think... but may have been amazon

If you buy the Xoom (highly recommended) you might think about getting either the regular charging dock or the speakers dock. I use both everyday. Also, the Xoom recharges fast through the outlet...it would be much slower to charge via usb.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (P3113) good for kids?

Hey everyone,
Just got one of these for free for buying the Samsung camera I wanted... lol. Now I thought about selling it, but since it price dropped to 150 in Canada I was thinking of buying another and giving them to my niece and nephew (brother's, age four and two) and my nephew and niece (sister's, age four and one). Now the latter already uses an iphone for games and sort of gets it. So I think he could transition into this easily enough. The former, not much, but my brother has a tab and he could show them and so could I, etc.
All in all, I am just wondering how kid friendly it is. I don't plan to deviate from stock roms, just because I know there can sometimes be issues. Might get rid of stupid heavy touchwiz and make sure it's on JB, but that is it. And possibly a dumb question, but if I root and start removing preloaded apps, is that OK, or will it have adverse effects?
What about apps for them? Parental lock?
If it is all terrible, I may just wait a year for a new generation.
The other thing is that I would needed cases for them, preferably on the sturdier. Otterboxes seem to be impossible to find, at least in Canada. Anything else in the tougher case area? Even though it is close to Christmas, waiting isn't much of an issue.
I did find these and they look nice enough: http://www.amazon.ca/Fosmon-Revolvi...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1355546811&sr=1-2
But I am worried as far as actual drop protection goes. These kids are pretty good with the stuff, nothing has been broken yet, but I am paranoid, yet I keep all my devices naked...
Any help and pointers are appreciated. I am on a budget of a hundred per kid, so this just about works out.
Oh and if this is in the wrong section, then I am very sorry.
Excellent for kids. I know a 5yr old that uses it like a pro...and it took maybe an hour to get totally acclimated to it.
Thank you. Any specific reasons? Any clue about case?

i got this one from amazon and it works quite well..doubles as a stand as well....can't find the 7" version, but it's basically this:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...r=8-1&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tab+2+case+pink
also get yourself a good screen protector... zaggshield has been on it since day one and it's great.
Thanks bud. I dont really like Zagg, but I can get some from work for cheap.
Try an app called kids place. Locks the device down to only apps you allow to be run and even works after a reboot and is pin protected.
If the child clicks an advert on a game or clicks to buy more coins on an app it stops that, although it stops the whole app and has to be started again
Sent from my Samsung Note II.
Thanks. that helps a lot. making me feel better about this already.
I'll have to play with it and go from there.
since I am rooting, I am going to install an ad blocker too.
I bought this tab for my daughter on her 3rd birthday she uses it fine. I got a military shield off amazon and a folding leather case off ebay, we have had no problems at all just a reboot from time to time to clear the memory
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Awesome. Thanks for the good news guys.
It's perfect for kids! With its compact size, great price and massive app/games range, it's ideal for kids!
Ages 4 and 2, no I wouldn't do any normal tablet for them, Walmart has a cheap tablet IIRC it's called Nabi (see if you can find the first version) they have released a version 2 now with the tegra 3 quad-core and it has this big rubber "bumper" case that makes it way more "kid friendly" kids that age WILL destroy a tablet in no time if not watched closely so go with the one meant for them.

I could not find the original Nabi and also it sounded like a POS. Nabi 2 is more expensive and it is not like I did not find some half decent cases for the tab2. I just wanted to hear from others. Thanks for your input, but it is too late to stop me. I have already invested the 400 total on this. 100 per kid, just my budget

Title: Zero-Lemon Battery Case for the S6
This is my first time with a battery case for a phone. I've only seen a few for the various iPhones out there and have only seen one other on a Galaxy S III that seemed to work out but it seemed pretty cool to have the ability to have the extra charge. I was able to score a free one through XDA as long as I wrote a review about it. Here's what I have on Zero Lemons latest batter case for the S6.
Packaging: The packaging on with this unit is pretty basic. Box, cords, instruction manual, plastic coverings, the case and the battery. Once you get everything out it's time to figure out what this gaudy thing is and try to put it on your phone!
Setup: At first glance there was some slight confusion as to how this is supposed to go on your phone. My first thought (and from seeing other models) that the battery would be built into the case. In this version I was surprised to see that it's really an external battery that stays connected to your phone. So you have three pieces to the case. The Case, the power adapter, and the battery itself. Once you get everything connected the battery should rest slightly under the hunch of the rear facing camera in the back. At this point you're ready to slide the actual case over the phone and the battery. Starting from the bottom up: make sure you slide the bottom of the phone and the power adapter first. I couldn't imagine doing this any other way but I'm sure it'll be pretty difficult and could potentially damage your phone. Once you get the bottom figured out slip the top over and you're set!
Now for my review:
The Good: One thing you'll read over and over when researching the Galaxy S 6 is the constant complaint of less than stellar battery life. I don't tend to have an issue with it. The quick charging seems to make up for it. That aside, It is SUPER convenient to never need to worry about your phone dieing. I had a friend get married this weekend and I wanted to snap photos and take videos of the occasion. Normally I would worry about my phone staying alive through the night but by the end of the night (2 a.m.) after a full day of using my phone heavily, I still had two bars on my case battery and 90% on my phone. I would say thing really allows you to use your phone the way you want and not worry about anything. Unintended bonus: Because the battery is separate from the case, this can be used as an external battery for anything. All you need is a cable and you're good to go.
The bad: This thing is bulky. You could say "well what did you expect?" but still. This thing adds a lot of weight and bulk to a device that is just so pretty to look at. Since the case and the battery are separate- they're connected by a power adapter. I mentioned it before but it worries me that if I drop it, how much damage will it cause to my phone. It's hard to say but it's enough to not have this as my daily driver. Because there is a battery in the way of the back and the power port is taken over, NFC and QuickCharging are gone. When purchasing the phone that was one of the selling points and it's a bummer to have to give those up. I use NFC all the time for profiles (between home and work). I'm also a bit bummed that there wasn't an SD Card slot available in this. I think if they did that this could have been easily a daily driver for me. The extra space would totally trump the lack of NFC and Quick Charging.
TL;DR: Will I use this as my daily driver? No, unfortunately not. Will I use it when I go on vacation this summer? You bet. It's a really great way to make sure you're covered throughout the day to have fun and not stress over your battery being at 20% at noon.

It's fairly common to have testers when new products come out. This is one reason I like to have the latest and greatest phones, free accessories for just a tiny bit of work. Leave them feedback, give them my opinion and a review of the product. I've gotta have at least 30+ different accessories laying around that I've acquired by reviewing things.

I got mine from Amazon for $20. It just came in yesterday. I think they delayed the shipment to put in the new U connector because mine has no issues staying on.
Unfortunately, I ran it down over the course of just a few hours yesterday! Well, I had skipped the step of charging it for 12 hours since when I plugged it in to the charger, it said it was full! So last night I charged overnight for about 12-13 hours.
We'll see how it holds up today. If you have any other questions about the case, I can try to answer them.
I'm kind of bummed out that they're abandoning the 2800mAh early adopters and skipping straight to 3500. I wonder if they'll ship the people who bought the first gen product the new revision.

Don't worry man. It can serve as a pre-hype thread for now! I'm going to have a mod clean it up once reviews start rolling in
Review added.
I'll go ahead and post my review as well.
I got mine on Thursday, so had all weekend to use it. It was a busy weekend and limited access to a charger, so I found the case really useful, especially on Sunday. I like having it as it really provides peace of mind for battery life. I was with a group of people on Sun, and a few of them had their battery go out by the end of the afternoon. Not me. With the Zerolemon case, I had plenty of power to spare.
The case does provide protection to the camera (the camera is recessed quite a bit), but also a small lip on the front so that the screen is protected as well.
The case is bulky, and weighs a bit, as expected, but actually wasn't too bad. I had no problems carrying the phone/case in my jeans pocket. The only other con I can think of is that you can't use wireless charging with the case. Not a huge deal, as you hardly ever need to charge with all of this extra battery power.
Having the extra battery power to me is worth it. This is a great case to have when you are on vacation or know that you will be away from a power source for a while.

Question Battery and screen

Hi everyone,
I've just bought "by error " this phone ( don't tell my gf I wanted it badly ) and, since I didn't watch any review I have few questions ( I think it will surprise me )
1. Battery: I'm on a Pixel 4 XL now and I had battery drain issues only after updating it to Android 12. The rooted out LOS inside and fixed the problem. It doesn't have 5g and a bigger battery than the flip. Will this phone arrive at the end of the day? Disabling 5G will save me some power? I don't really use the phone more than a normal person but I need it to get me to the end of the day without problems.
2. Screen: looks a bit fragile to me yet saw few cracked screens because of the cold weather. I live in Italy and we don't go under 0 degrees usually ( probably I will sell it first of the next winter ) did anyone had this problem or ar just isolated casualties.
Still on the screen, how many times would it open and close without breaking?
3. Day by day: how do you feel it in a day by day use? Did you get used to the folding system or not? How much ergonomic is it? Is 1 hand usage possible?
I like how it looks but I've never managed to have one in my hand I hope it will surprise me.
Physically play with one before you purchase, this goes for any phone.
What seems insignificant in pictures can be a lot different in real life. When I was considering the S10+ vs the N10+. I was undecided until I had both in front of me. I took a grand total of 5 seconds to go with the N10+. In spite of the similarities the subtle differences of the form factor were striking. After which the differences in the images were crystal clear to me.
Usually I do but not this time. I felt so confident that I've bought it and I don't even need a new phone. Pixel 4xl is in great condition and still does the job pretty well.
Good times when I've used to play games on the phones or rooting those just because are gone. Now I just use the phone as a phone, texting, browsing, socials 1 minutes every 2 days, Google calendar and excel

That might work out fine for you then. It doesn't meet my needs criteria. I'll likely be running my two N10+'s for years.
Enjoy

I will for sure, wanted a phone that fits in my pocket for years. Hopefully this will. Thought to sell my pixel but I think I'll keep it, just in case as I kept my Blackberry KeyOne just in case and all the others just in case ( I'm the proud owner of an HTC Desire and a ChaCha, do you remember those? )
As someone who actually owns the phone, I can tell you the battery life is not great left unchecked. If you don't use 5G, it will save a bit. Disabling any features you don't use will save more. Stock comes with virtually everything enabled. Always on display, edge panels, and 100 different gestures are all running and don't need to be if you don't use them.
The crease is an eye sore that first day. People will tell you that you stop noticing it and I honestly didn't believe it. It is true. You eventually stop noticing it unless you are at just the right angle (almost eye level with it folded open).
It's not as fragile as it seems. If you don't stab it, you should be fine. The protector is decent quality, but most issues you'll see are with rough environments or a peel that started and couldn't be left alone. As for folding and unfolding, it is meant to withstand more than most will do in a week per day.
One thing to keep in mind is that the hinge gets dirty easily and that can be a problem. Wipe it off before you open it. Make sure not to get junk in the screen before you close it.
Take the first 14 days seriously. It's easy to tell someone how it looked on paper or even to try it yourself in a store, but that isn't your day to day life. You can't know how folding and unfolding when a call comes in is like standing in a Best Buy. It is a lot different when you aren't consciously thinking about it. If you still feel awkward after a week, start filling out the return.

I always wanted a HTC for it's audio.
Never saw the ChaCha, that's an interesting critter. Laid out for texting...
Definitely keep a backup as it takes the pressure off you if you need to do repairs. The main reason I have 2 N10+'s now.

Do you think debloating it or flashing a custom ROM ( even I I would like to keep the samsung-ment experience on this phone ) will save a bit more battery?
Are there useless apps preinstalled ?

I missed if you mentioned getting the unlocked or carrier version. If it's a carrier version, there is any of the carrier stuff you don't want. If it's unlocked, it's mostly third-party apps. Honestly, most of that uninstalls now. Anything that can't be uninstalled or disabled can just as easily be removed with an adb command.
It's things, such as Netflix, that Samsung thinks you wouldn't be able to find easily if they didn't include it for you (although it isn't that ridiculous of a thought anymore). There was very little that actually required any sort of advanced removal, which is one advantage of getting a newer phone. In the last couple years, the extras that used to be system apps are now being preloaded as user apps the same as if you had installed them. You also have the option during setup to opt out of a lot. Google still forces it's garbage on you to complete setup, but that can be uninstalled as soon as that's complete (or you can leave the notice telling you to finish setup running indefinitely).
The biggest task is going through the settings and deciding what you will use and what is running sensors without any real necessity. I also recommend Galaxy Max Hz. It will yield a noticeable increase in battery life, even without much configuration at all.
[App]Galaxy Max Hz (Refresh Rate Mods, Screen-off Mods, QS Tiles, Tasker Support and More)
About this app: Refresh Rate Control: Easily control the max refresh rate (Hz) of android devices with multiple refresh rates (e.g. note20 ultra, s20/S20+/S20Ultra, z fold 2, s21/s21+/s21Ultra, tab S7/S7+, z fold 3, z flip 3). This app can limit...

I've had mind since about November and I can say my battery life is decent around a day and a half with 50/50 screen on and off
Thank you for answering, I'll come back with more questions probably in few days ( says it's shipped from Netherlands ).
Btw its an unlocked version, last time I've bought a carrier version of a phone it's sucked badly.
