I have a voodoo kernel installed and wanted to know if the either of the voodoo lag fix toggles in the android market would work on a samsung galaxy s showcase. Also, do I have to disable voodoo to update my kernel to get the voodoo sound? And when I do update the kernel I can flash it with clockwork as usual? I just want to make sure of the procedure. Thanks.

I wouldn't use the app, its easy to flash into recovery with quick boot.
You do have to have laggix disabled. If you don't...lets just put that into the bad idea column.

Ok i will disable voodoo. Thanks for your help.
Ok thanks i will disable lagfix and won't bother with the toggle. Thanks for the help.

Don't confuse them dcow. It's just good practice to disable lagfix. If something goes wrong and you have to do a restore, you want lagfix disabled.

I agree that it is good practice. I just thought flashing Voodoo to Voodoo and not disabling the lagfix was a pretty standard thing to do. Sorry if I confused anyone..

phidelt82 has just posted the steps to get to EB16 installed using ODIN for the mesmerize.
First great job phidelt82!
I have already installed EA11 stock+root+recovery and have the EA11-voodoo kernel installed and working on my mesmerize.
Following your guide are we to disable lagfix before any of this and reboot right?
Doesn't matter

This will be the same as for ea11, everything done to your phone will be completely erased when you go to eb16.

Always disable lagfix as a precaution. Especially when you are doing an Odin flash.
To re-enable lagfix do I just reflash the voodoo.zip? I tried enabling it through CWM but no dice.

To re-enable the lagfix, just go back in to recovery, select voodoo, then enable lagfix and reboot.

Since the partition is written as ext4 then you are just flashing it with rfs without converting it back. I can't say that it's going to happen every time, but it's possible that you can cause problems that are really hard to fix. From what I've seen it really sucks.

how would i go about fixing these problems...cause idk if its happening but i wanna make sure it dont
I have had 2.1 rooted with voodoo for 2.1 for a while not, but am getting forced closes and automatic restarts while I am in the middle of a task or even when just charging overnight. I have heard reflashing fixes the issue. I am not sure the steps needed to reflash. Do I need to undo lagfix or can I just reflash without doing anything?
I have tried getting question answered in fascinate forum where our 2.1 voodoo kernal is located, but no one has answered for over a day. I do have a mesmerize and is mesmerize kernal.
Thank you in advance.
Anyone? Do I need to delete voodoo to re flash voodoo?

Yeah you should always disable voodoo before reflashing, but you should update to froyo eb16. It is much better.

I have been wanting to since it came out, but I am trying to patiently wait for the official release this month. Thanks for the help.
I'm having the same problem too
I made the edits for this to use on EC01 mesmerize.
Per the norm, I am not responsible if you jack your phone up trying to use this. I have done nothing to this other then edit it per dfgas's instructions to use on my Mez.

Read the original thread for any problems you have. I am not a dev, so you will not get a helpful answer from me.

***Do not Theme this ROM. Works good the way it is. I themed it and ended up having to re-flash it.

So I need to flash ec01 radio first?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yes ec01 radio first.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Still didn't work for me
You also need an EC10 source Kernel
sent from my SFC+FIX, EC01, voodoo enabled, Samsung Mesminate.
OK... So, let me get this straight... This is what I need to do to flash this:
1. Disable Voodoo
2. Flash the stock Mesmerize EC10 image
3. Flash the EC01 radio using Odin (Flash it to where? PDA? Phone?)
4. Flash the Evil 3.3 rom
I feel like there's something missing here, or is there a kernel built-in?
Flash the radio to pda in ODIN.

Go to settings>applications. Choose app that is FC, and clear data. Email and keyboard need to have this done or they willcontinuously force close.
The original thread explains this. Also there is another update out. I'm probably not going to be able to fix it till next weekend. If anyone wants it let me know and I will try to do it sooner.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'm the same tried 2 different ones and all I get is first time it attemps to boot up with losts of fc's the goes into a boot loop.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Go to > settings> applications > manage applications. Select all apps tab. Find app that is force closing. Select it and then clear data. One this is done it should stop force closing. Email and keyboard did it to me. Cleared data and no more problems.

I flashed this but I'm stuck in a boot loop and when I have gotten it to boot it constantly force closes different apps... Do I need to flash a kernel or is one included? I think that's where I'm stuck.

You need to wipe data before flashing. Backup your apps first tho what kernel are you using?

how to disable voodoo
Inside cwm is an option for voodoo. Inside that option is the option to disable voodoo.

did you read the noob's guide to flashing yet? or looked at the bible thread with other guides in it? There is a lot of information here, and it would take a long time to type out everything each time someone asks how to flash a rom.
There are basically 2 ways to flash your phone. ODIN and CWM. find the guides for each, and read them. Each rom has it's own instructions to flash the rom, so you'll need to follow that.
also, if your phone is stock, you don't have voodoo enabled. That only comes on a custom kernel, so you don't need to worry about that your first time. If you want to flash a gingerbread rom, like Valhalla, you need to make sure you flash a factory leak first, to get the proper boot loaders. look for the guides on flashing gingerbread for this.
good luck
I too am very new to this whole thing. Have been playing with new roms for the last 10 weeks or so and Valhalla 1.1 is the most stable one yet. I would totally recommend it, I am going to play with it for a few days then try out the new FTW. Since you are new I will say everything you need is in this sight somewhere, just be sure to read before you post... The Devs are awesome, I wish my knowledge of Android was equal to 1/100 of theirs.
