Its probably because you need 10 posts. Or you need to activate an email.
I think it's stupid. I just wish to ask a simple question on the correct thread, but no. I have to get 10 posts.

Yep. I believe you have to post 10 threads. It's not so convenient for newbie like me trying to ask a question under the right thread.

Cannot post in Android Developers Thread

Hey.
I'm new to posting here, however found it more than necessary to begin my journey to be a frequent poster to the forum .
Hello.
However it seems that to do this i would like to ask inside a developers forum how to solve an issue with my current mobile device.
Is there a way i can gain access? Ask a Mod?
Or do i just wait.
My device is unusable at this stage and help is really needed.
Thread im trying to post into; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399&page=216
Thanks.
EDIT:
I now have access, i guess i am inpatient
you have to post 10 times in general fourms and be approved to post by mods in developer fourms. That keeps newbees from clogging up the important forms.
thanks i was wondering how to post there too,i need to ask some things about void rom there
Besides if your just asking questions you shouldn't be posting in development threads anyway.

I wish there was an easier way. I have legitimate posts to add to some Developer threads. I'm always trying new things for ROM's, since there's nothing else to do while I wait for the Prime and Vigor to be released...

For a novice post to the general or q&a forums.
Have you tried using the search functionality? It's likely others have experienced the same problem as you and the question has already been answered somewhere

ok. I understood. many many thanks for all who repply this post.. !!!
Welcome
Just so you know, questions ARE NOT meant to go into the development threads. Those are for bug reports only..NOT QUESTIONS. This is part of the reasoning behind needing 10 posts. It is in the hopes that you will learn these things first. There is a Q&A forum for questions.

Mr. I understand what you mean... maybe Iam write the wrong words.. its not a question what I need to do, its a bug on that room what I installed on my samsung skyrocket... and because have that bug on my phone I need to put a repply so maybe the room developer fix that bug.... however.. thanks for your repply . . .
Was wondering the same question too..
Heya
mee too.
Mods need to close this thread, else it will become another one of those "I want 10 posts, so I'll get them from here" threads...
So just posting in the general section is how you get to the 10 post limit. Is what I understand.

Questions are not posted in the development sub sections of specific device's forums. They are posted in the Q&A sections.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1399
See here.....this is a view of all the sub sections for the SkyRocket. Ask questions in Q&A.

If you have read around the subject and used the search and still are not sure about something then its completely fine to ask a question.
BUT if a quick search finds the answer on the forum you will be flamed so make sure to read read and read some more.
But we are here to help if you really can't find the answers needed

You need to make like 10 posts in non development threads before you can post in the development section.

Just go around and give a simple thank you to all the Devs in the general section. You'll be at 10 posts before you know it. I had the same problem as you did. Now all is well

Right?
I have been lurking for years, but only recently did I obtain anything useful to say, but it would not allow me to. So when I went to post on the thread I was like,
RAAAAAAGGGGGEEE!!!!!!
But I suppose it would not hurt the forums out to have a few miscellaneous general discussion posts.

I too am frustrated by the 10 post rule - I'd be happy to help out answering questions if I knew what I was doing enough to contribute, but I don't. How am I supposed to learn if I can't ask questions? Just doesn't really make sense to me . . .

You can help and ask questions...in the Q/A section. We all had to do it so it's not like you're the first to be saddled with these limitations.

Guess I assumed this forum wasn't really designed for questions regarding rooting the phone. I pictured it more as a troubleshooting section / more general forum and thought questions regarding rooting a phone were for the developer thread. Perhaps I got my wires crossed

Oh nah Q/A is perfect for all GSIII questions haha I guarantee if you post a new thread about anything that is not your developed rom/mod/kernel in either dev section, you'll be met with a lot of negativity. I'm not even joking. A good tip to know is: when in doubt, post it in the Q/A section. Typically post in a developer thread if you're reporting bugs or helping someone else in that thread similar to what I'm doing right now with you. Only create a new thread in either development section if you developed something and want to share it.

Will changing imei unlock a locked snapdragon phone?

I know changing imei is illegal here. Just wondering if changing it will unlock a locked Qualcomm snapdragon phone.

its fine if you posted in some other area by mistake, but you posted here, and in the noob thread here, thats not necessary or allowed.
no worries.
OK. I'm confused. I was told to post my questions on Q&A. Isn't this Q&A?

yes it is, but you also posted it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257421 which is also q & a, a sticky at the top of this forum. that was my point, you post 2 times in q & a, once here in your own thread, and once in the noob thread i quoted.
i only know you posted in the noob q & a thread, because i replied to you there.
im sure no one in the noob thread told you to post in q & a, because its in q & a.
---------- Post added at 08:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 AM ----------
ok, to explain better, i went at looked at your posts.
in xda assist, they told you to ask in the thread i quoted before, which you did. then, when no one answered you in 20 minutes, you posted it again here, in this thread.
thats the problem, you need to only ask your question once per relevant forum, or as directed by higher members. you cant go to that forum and keep asking in short order when no one answers you right away.
make sense now?
5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer. (Also refer to Rule 16)
We don't allow any discussion as it relates to changing IMEI, therefore, this thread is closed.
