[Q] MKV + .srt, looking for an app - Captivate General

i'm an anime lover (if you have a problem with anime... drop dead )
i finally moved to the CAP as my main cellphone and i do enjoy having an anime or two on in and not only on my AINOL pmp.
the main and only problem is that the samsung app can't read sub file inside mkv
so far what i did is:
1. extract sub file from MKV with MKVExtract
2. change sub file from .ass to .srt with subtitle workshop
3. push MKV and .SRT file to CAP
is there an easy way to do step 1+2? doing it on one file this way is simple but several files... not as much

You can try mvideoplayer (http://www.appbrain.com/app/mvideoplayer/afzkl.development.mVideoPlayer) which I've successfully played some anime with embedded subtitles. But I have run into some files that won't play properly. Hope that helps.

TCMP and youtube - flv plugin

i didn't see anyone posting this before - i just found out about this plugin, i tried it and it works! for all of you who are tired of converting flv to avi in order to watch it on your ppc, theres a solution. it also comes with utilities to ease the downloading of video from youtube.com, i tried, also works a charm. good luck, and thanks to the creators!
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196939
I don't able to play the video:
I put the 3 files in the tcmp folder (in sd card)
I don't able to play the video on the you-tube page
and I don't able to play the video flv (downloaded by youtubedownload.exe) on the player
I run O.72 version with the plugin of 0.81
How you get it successfully?
thanks
Enough only to put the two files .flv in the root TCPMP.
With the others files you are able to download the tape directly on ppc, enough to launch YouTube Download on device..

you mean .plg files i assume. but right, that's what you should do. then also you can edit options>preferences>file associations in tcpmp so then you can launch tcpmp doubleclicking flv file (it is called flash video in options)
uvz: i don't know what's wrong - it works with tcpmp v. 0.71 - my plugin version is 0.2, have no idea how can i help :/
ok, I found the reason..
The 3 files I downloaded was all exe file (??)
I download the zip folder in other place and I found the correctly .plg files.
So now I can play the video on tcpmp, by downloading with the exe.
But I'm not able to stream video directly from you-tube page: it's normal?
I can only download the video and then play with tcpmp, or there are a possibility to open and play directly from the you-tube page by streaming with tcpmp?
Finnaly... I'm now able to play .flv files... horray!!!
I've copied the flv plugin to the TCMP folder and I think they're correctly installed. However when playing youtube vids, it connects to HTC Streaming Media which unfortunately doesn't run vids on my Kaisser.
Do I have to remove streaming Media so that youtube would connect to TCMP when vids are selected? How can I select streaming media into my TCMP?
Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
TCPMP streaming problems with WM6
I have an HTC touch cruise with wm6 and I am unable to stream flv files.
I have installed the TCPMP program and I think I installed tcpmp plugin 0.4.2.
When I install the plug in, do the files automatically install themselves in the TCPMP root file??? and how are they identified.
It shows in my settings/system/Remove programs , the TCPMP and TCPMP plugin are both installed Could some one please post step by step install instruction or direct me to one .
Thanks

Movie player

Hi guys,
just got a HP touchpad. now is there a video player on here? and if its there what format do they have to be in to view it. have tried a couple of different ones and cant get them up.
Is there a player app i can download onto it at all ?
thanks
there is a photos & videos app built in, but it's pretty poor for video.
you need to add your video files to the root of the built in storage (the tablet installs onto your computer as a removable drive).
i still haven't got my head around the video file support just yet, but it doesn't seem to handle .avi, divx, xvid etc.
mp4 seems to be the main format.
there are a couple of apps for streaming videos from a upnp media server, but nothing free as far as i can tell.
kalemsoft media player seems to be the best of these as it lets you load video files from the local storage on your tablet as well as browse for remote stuff.
i have successfully played an avi file using this app.
i've only tried the demo version so far which requires internet access in order to assess the trial period.
i don't particularly want to purchase the paid version just yet.
I used Handbrake and followed the instructions here: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-tou...n-resources/287212-handbrake-preset-dvds.html I just tried a short 45 minute kids dvd to see if it would work okay. It was about a 400mb file. Placed it in a folder called Videos on the root of the usb partition and it shows up fine in the Photos and Videos app.

see i tried doing that as well. creating a folder called videos on the root and it wasn't detected.
only when i added the file direct to root could i access it.
are directory names case sensitive?
a video player that allows you to browse and/or add directories would be much better.
EDIT: looks like i had a folder called video. changed it to videos and it shows up.
strangely enough kalemsoft creates a folder recordings. when i added a video file to that, it also showed up.
I have put my videos in the download folder and they show up in the stock player fine. Also converted DIVX avi files to MP4 with Handbrake. Used the ipad HD settings for nice quality.
Kalemsoft Media Player wil read a lot of video formats , you can find it on app catalog.
The kalemsof that i downloaded isnt displaying in full screen and sometimes will hang on my TP. Guess its still not compatible to TP yet?

Thanx for the tip about Handbrake, nunja. I'll try it for conversions. I concur with the settings...
I'm on a Pre 2 and have no problems with mp4 playing (once you get the settings down it becomes rote). For my phone I use iPod settings...
For ripping from DVD I use DVDFab3 - I know there are way newer versions out there and I tried them but always go back to version 3. I just like the UI and it has never let me down. Point it at a DVD or ISO and under Mobile click Generic. You can configure it for generic mp4 and get a resolution up to 848x480 which should be alright on the TP screen. Your settings like Resolution, bitrate, volume level, subpicture - can all be saved as a profile.
DVDFab3 in a .rar file. Just extract and it will run out of the folder without install...

[Q] How can I edit optimus 3D video on a Windows PC? [solved]

I would like to edit my 3D videos on my pc, I copy the .mp4 file to my laptop and find nothing even plays it.
On further examination I have determined the video is using the 3gp4 container and that the video itself is Mp4 V1 according to the Gspot program for Windows but nothing will open it to play or edit.
I have tried every Windows program I can think of from VirtualDubMod to AviDemux and Super, does anyone have any idea how to edit or even convert this video to a playable or editable format please?
Dave
Edit: Found a solution, posted solution as a guide in a seperate post
I've edited stereofootage using The Foundery's NukeX but it was an image sequence. Meaning i had left eye and right eye frames. Ill mess around with it tomarrow and see if im able to import my 3D footage in to any of my video editing software. Or seperate the footage in to left and right eye sequences. If your trying to edit your 2D footage try Adobe After Effects or Premeire.

I can edit 3D images but nothing, even VLC, will read yet alone edit the video produced by the Optimus 3D. Ideally I would like, as with other mepg 4 files, to edit the video in VirtualDubMod as I do with 2D footage (from other sources) but unfortunately for some reason the mpeg 4 video is stored in a non standard 3gp mp4 container that so far no programs will read.
Dave
Though it would not play initially, I was able to convert it to another format using AnyVideoConverter and then view on my PC using the stereoscopic player (I have nVidia 3D Vision and 3D monitor). I also have K-Lite Codec pack installed.
I tried the trial version fo that but it always says fail
Dave
You could try to upload it to Youtube and use the online editor. It even allows you to add music to your movies, etc.
I could try that but I dont want to upload, and thus share, my videos then redownload them just to edit them. Very dissapointed in how badly the video is contained in a non standard 3gp variant when the video could have been stored in standard mpeg 4 format. I will have to just hope somehow a program out there can convert the video as uploading a potentially large file with my isp can take hours and so would be impractical
Dave
You don't have to share what you upload, but I agree that it would be a pita to upload large files to the service...
I found a way and will put a brief guide in a seperate post in case it helps someone
Dave
Great news
You need a 3D video editor

Wondering if you're still there.
Is your original video file mp4? You need a 3D video editor which can edit mp4 videos.
A good 3D video editing program can help to edit videos. But you should know that viewing 3D video on your pc need 3D glasses.

[Q] IFO support?

Hello everyone.
Registered user here of the pro version, I was wondering if its possible to implement IFO support when it comes to play a VIDEO_TS folder.
Playing vob files works great. I usually rip the DVD main movie via MakeMKV and play the resulting MKV with MPEG2 flawlessly, but when that main movie is greater than 4 GB I cannot do anything, because my device doesn't support any filesystem other than FAT32. That's why the IFO support would make this OK, copy vob files (1 GB) with IFO file and play as a standard VIDEO_TS folder (Im not talking about menus, just the IFOs)
Thanks

Normally if you start playing first vob file, then after completing first file mx will play the second vob file automatically. it'll be automatically added to the queue if it's in the same folder. (make sure "back to list" is disable in Settings 》Player)
Thanks.
Yes, I know that. The problem is when the movie has several audio or subtitle tracks, sometimes its unpredictable which one is gonna start with the next vob file, because the vob files by themselves don't have an identification of language other than 0x80-like, so you gotta change the track again and there's a pause that wouldn't be with an IFO file. Also, depending of the methods and tools of extracting the vobs, sometimes the length of the vob gets confused.
I am aware that is possible to watch a whole movie with this, I was just wondering probably this is not a big implementation (almost like a playlist?) and could make the playing of DVD movies an awesome feature. I understand this is not a feature most people would request, but I like not having to convert, just extract the movie, and watch it as is. Even when I know by H264 standards is a waste of space, but with 32gb cards that cheap nowadays, it's comfortable.
Thanks.

Hi there.
Great player and thanks very much for all the devs' hard work. I'm wondering, since I have more than 25,000 DVDs in my collection, if there has been any further consideration of implementing a full DVD play feature.
Thanks.
Any update on this? I would be prepared to pay money for a full DVD play feature to be implemented.
Thanks.

[Q] Entire DVD Subt.

Hello xmplayer,
My added subtitle doesn't appear for the 2nd (and so on) parts of the copied DVD ! I have copied a DVD movie into my andriod device which originally contains four .vob files within its VIDEO_TS folder ! Also, I have successfully added a subtitle file into the player for that movie ! The problem begins from when the 2nd part (VTS_01_2.vob) of the copied DVD starts playing , and that is, subtitle is missing !
How can I have the added subtitle for the entire DVD movie ?
Thanks

There are multiple ways of achieving this indirectly.
1. Load the same subtitle when playing menu > Subtitles > synchronization & set the time of first file
Or
2. Use some software to split subtitles
Or
3. Use any vob merger software to merge multiple vob files.
