My Droid 1 is stuck in the boot cycle, it crashes on the little red eye and reboots and begins the process again. I have backed up my stock rom but each time I try to load it from boot loader I get a "signature verification failed" error. What can I do to fix this. Thanks in advance to all those who help..
What were you trying to do that made it crash?
I installed a battery icon mod that I found on this site. Stupid...I know. Any thoughts? I am researching how to unbrick a droid right now, am I on the right path?
I just thought I would give everyone a quick updated. After several terrifying hours I was able to recover my droid with the Unroot/Unbrick any phone method found at droidforums.
So now my question is, now that I’m back up I currently have android 2.0, build ESD20 on my phone, any idea how long it will take before Verizon brings me back up to 2.2.1? Or is there a better way to do this?
You could try searching around for a rom on this site, but you would have to root your phone. Look in here for a rom that suits your needs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=671

After about 4 hours of online searching, the closest i got to backing up my rooted Milestone was un-successfully trying to enter clockwork recovery only to see my milestone starting to load it, then restarting and loading the operating system.
rom manager says that clockwork recovery is istalled but fails to enter it.
and please dont offer droidroothelper, im sick of reading about it but being unable to use it since the "tools" file was removed from mediafire and there is nowhere to download it from.
please advise, this is getting annoying.
anyone? comon guys..
a day later and still nothing?, can i gather from this that there is no way for some one with a milestone to back up his phone?
thanks alot XDA.
I tried searching but since I'm very new to this forum I have no idea where to look. Anyway I went to update the ROM file on my droid x and in the process have managed to mess it up real bad. I'm trying to set my phone back to its out of the box state and I'm not quite sure how to do so. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated and if there is a thread already containing this issue just show me the way. thanks in advance.
wow 30 views and no help? bummer.
It would help to know what exactly is wrong with the phone
i tried to update it from an older version of the fission rom to the most recent and in the process it said my multi touch keyboard stopped working in the process so i couldn't type anything at all. so after that i figured i should just revert it back to factory settings with the motorola rsd lite program. now its stuck at the bootloader screen with this text.
Bootloader
30.03
Err:A5,70,70,00,1F
MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB
And it won't go anywhere from there. It's been like this for at least an hour now. Please tell me there is a way to fix this. Hope this helps a little more.
try to post this stuff in the Droid X forum, you will get more help and also did you try flashing a stock rom, also can you access the recovery
no luck on accessing recovery. its just stuck on that screen for now. i'll try those forums. thanks.
You probably need to use a diff sbf file
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
any clue to where i can find one for say 2.2? or should i just stick to 2.1?
on the last step of flashing the rom, when you use rom manager to select the file and then the phone restarts and goes to its screen where you then choose to reinstall packages it tries but gives me 2 error messeges that start with E: then at the end says abborted, what am i doing wrong or why is it doing this?
can someone help me out please
Wanted to help but.....
I wanted to help you but I'm i worst situation than you....
- I have a new Samsung At&T captivate with Official 2.2 but semi-rooted !
- I downloaded "Bay_wolf's AIO Captivate Toolbox 2.5 & 2.6" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11178708
- Without knowing Android stuff, I played with "restore to Official ROM"
- Not my phone is opening at AT&T logo goes off ,AT&T logo goes off,AT&T logo goes off and so on....
- I tried to reach download mode (power+up, power+down,power+up+down, power+up+Home, power+down+Home and power+up+down+Home). I'm removing battery every tries I made.
- I even did them while without USB connected and USB connected.
NOW is my phone TOTALLY BRICKED??? Who has the knowledge to restore it?
I challenge the smartest Android Wizards to try!
I'll be waiting!!!
alright well both of you need to get out of the general forum and make your way to the Captivate forum. from there you will find a lot of threads that start a little like yours do with bricked and messed up phones. either ask your question in captivate general or do a search and find the answer.
I had the same issue. There's an issue with the leaked Froyo ROM's recovery.
Follow this thread (provided you actually are using the leaked Froyo ROM like I was : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423 .
Hello, I have a Motorola Defy which i have rooted and installed clockworkmod on it. I tried to install Cyanogen mod 7.1 from the website. The phone got to the boot screen where it continued to cycle through it thing and nothing more. I restarted the phone and now it gets stuck at the first screen where its says "google". I tried to enter recovery again (power + volume down) and clockworkmod is completely gone. I want to go back to the stock OS so it atleast works again. Ive tried using the update.zip option in the stock recovery mode but I keep getting an error "failed to verify whole-file signature" when using a signed copy of cyanogen mod. I also tried putting my backup in a zip with the same error. Ive even tried formatting my sd card. What do i do?
I was more or less where you are around June or so. I'm no expert by any means, but perhaps I can help. If memory serves I used a program called RSD Lite to flash it back to the stock unlocked rom I got from the "bl7 finally rooted" thread - if you unlocked a different way, I'd try to find your original rom.
Once you get to where you understand how to get back to stock it makes the whole thing a lot less scary, or it did for me. Once you get back up and running, try flashing Whiterabbit. I didn't have luck getting anything else to run, but that one worked the first time I tried it, and I'm very happy I persevered. Miles better than the stock OS.

I cant use the program as my phone doesnt get detected when connected to my pc.
OK, lets start with the basics, if I can remember it right... Have you used RSD Lite successfully before this? Drivers installed? Using bootloader mode? If any of this is unfamiliar go hit the beginner's thread - if you have done all this you may be beyond my help and in need of someone a bit more experienced.

I fixed it, there were a different set of buttons to hold to get into boot loader. The default recovery was not over written as i thought (happened to all my other phones). Thank you very much for you help. It has been very much appreciated.
Glad to hear it.
Greetings and salutation;
I've been fiddling around with my new tablet, learning about flashing ROMS and such, now I`m trying to get back to the original stock. I think I deleted it, or the recovery image from the device because I keep getting a Cyanogen Mod load screen.
Anyway...
I've search the forums and seems like most of the information either dated with broken links, unclear, or assumes most viewers understand the vernacular/terminology.
Basically, I need to find the stock ROM for the Acer Iconia Tab A700, in English. I'm fairly confident with flashing it as I have that figured out. I just need to get my hands on a copy of something that will install.
I have an image right now, but I keep getting the following error bounced back to me;
"assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name")=="a700_pa_cus1"
"Error in /cache/acer_ug/update.zip"
If I can figure that out, then maybe I'm good to go.
Anyone feel like helping me out?
Thanks.
I've been having the same issue, I was following a guide on how to root this device when something went wrong (a file was out of date or something). Anywho, the devices now just loops at the Iconia animation on boot & I'm trying to find the best way to revert back to the stock rom, or something at all at this point. I'm currently getting the same error as you, I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can help out or something. I'll continue my search tomorrow when I get back from work.
I see that this post was from about a week or so ago, have you found a solution yourself or are you still waiting?
Anything at all would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a ton!
Hey there, not sure if you're still looking but I found how to restore stock!
Check out the following link, if you follow the steps exactly you're tab will have the stock rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812635
Just a note, the first time you restart is after flashing it might freeze on the iconia boot logo after it's animation. Just restart it with either the power button trick or the pin hole at the bottom...or side, depending on how you're holding it I guess.
Hope this helped!
