3G in registry - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone. I have an enquiry regarding windows registry and 3G. I have a non geniuine phone based on HTC touch diamond 2 it's specs are lower than the original one. The problem is that it doesn't support 3G and was wondering if there is a sign of it in the registry in terms of enabling or at least determining its presence. Thanx for your help.

AT&T Tilt vs Verizon XV6800

Hello,
Please help me decide based on performance (response time/lag, memory, features, etc).
Most of the reasons I have seen for choosing one over the other are cell phone reception/coverage in an area. Cell reception in my area (Atlanta) is good for both carriers.
Thanks much.
Well... I don't have any experience with either, but the Tilt is the TyTNII (Kaiser) and the xV6800 is the TyTN.
Here's a video review.
EDIT: Also, the Kaiser has a WORKING GPS module.

And twice the RAM, which is important. There are lots of reports of the Tilt being inexplicably slow but some say there's hacks to improve this.
CDMA vs. GSM
XV6800 is a CDMA phone while Tilt is a GSM/UMTS phone. Choosing the proper phone also depends on which operator you are subscribed to.

china mobile dopod P860 same as touch cruise?

Just got this one as a present. Looks like a touch cruise but has no WIFI.
Tried to change the ROM software. This basically works but signal on GSM is low.
Already called HTC Europe support but they could not find the device number in their system.
Is there anyone of you who could tell me what kind of device this is and where I can find an original radio rom for it?
As I'm not able to read chinese characters I can't search on dopod.com
Thanks
Unfortunately, dopod P860 is without Wifi from China Im sure.
Thank you Sir
Do you have any information if there is WIFI hardware installed or not?
For the MDA compact III there is no hardware inside. So it is impossible to activate via software. Do you know if this is the same with P860?
thks wbr

There is hardware inside the MDA compact III for wi-fi.
There is no way that you can activate wi-fi if it is not in the hardware.
And your P860 do not have any hardware for wi-fi, so there is no way to get wi-fi working on your P860 (sorry)
Thank you
So I will stop searching for it.

Any way to enable 3G on the Touch Pro from India?

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here after joining this forum. I recently bought an HTC Touch Pro in India after alot of review. Sadly after buying the unit I realized HTC decided not to include 3G in the Indian version. I bought it blindly thinking they wouldn't be any discrepancy in the TP review units on sites such as gsmarena and infosync world but the TP box proved otherwise.
Now I study in the US and was hoping to use the 3G connection offered by T-mobile otherwise i'll resort to EDGE. My question is whether or not my TP actually has a 3G chipset which is disabled by HTC and can be enabled somehow or have they not installed one?
Thank you
3g
you could unlock the spl and install a custom rom (or a htc WWE stock rom). After installing the custom rom if ur phone has the 3g chip it will start working. Mostly the network and 3g are part of a single chip. So most probably 3g will start working after installing the custom rom. good luck.
Hey! Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm new to flashing ROM and the other procedures you have mentioned. Is it possible for you to direct me a bit more as to exactly how am I supposed to go about what you said?
Thank you

Do you have a HTC Touch Pro aka Raphael that comes from Europe? If so, no 3G as of yet. Actually, right now only way you'll get 3G is with the Fuze.
I ask because I am not familiar with India's phone infrastructure, providers, etc
Now some background of what's going on so you'll know if and why you won't have 3G:
HTC touch pro specs
Notice that HSDPA is only available on these frequencies:
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
For AT&T 3G frequencies are 850/1900 and for T-Mobile, I read they use 1700 and 2100mhz but I suggest you look around a bit more.
Finally, here'es THE thread about enabling the missing bands(frequencies) on the Touch Pro, some people are still working on it, progress has been made, but so far, no 3G in North America.

Ps.: Flashing to a new ROM is still a good idea, some of the ROMs in this forum will give a vert healthy performance boost to your phone!
I suggest you read this forum for a few days and especially this post

and get comfortable with the concepts, it's really easy and simple once you understand the basics.
Enjoy!
Hi labbby!
Thanks for the reply and info. I'm not sure if my TP came from europe not or. Just says tri-band on mine. Apart from that I'll look into flashing my ROM.
Thanks again!

GPS Lag - Is this a GSM Only Issue?

Hi All,
I just had a discussion with a colleague that owns a Bell Touch Pro (which is CDMA). We where discussing how much we loved the phone, and i mentioned how much I hated the GPS lag.
Like myself he owned a Tytn II prior to his Touch Pro, and I was surprised to hear from him he didn't notice a difference. He surmised that since the GPS chip is different on the CDMA version of the phone, it's probably just an issue with the GSM version.
I did some further research and can say that he's at the very least correct about the chip being different: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=1472&id2=1306&id3=1564&id4=1362&id5=1559&id6=1363&id7=1320&id8=1547
Anyone know if there's some truth to this? To the Sprint / Bell users out there, have you noticed GPS lag on your device?
