Q: Does root and clockworkmod recovery work?
A: Yes.
Q: Can i skip motoblur registration?
A: No, you can't unless you edit system files or sideload alternate launcher.
Q: How good is camera?
A: Camera problems are reported as fixed in this rom. The only problem reported is 24fps encoder limit set on video recording. Also, this rom (as well as Cliq2 & Chinese rom) does not have 720p codecs.

Can this be true? The T-Mobile US Defy wasn't even on the lastest upgrade list from Moto. Last I saw it was China & Latin America in Q1 and UK & Central Europe in Q2.

the sbf is unsigned so it can not be flashed, if someone could extract system folder from it, it would be helpfull.

I tried to replace the CG39.smg of v2.51 with the on from this fw here in this post...flashed it...and...no way :-( ...boot error...and back to bootloader...
i got the system files extracted and am uploading to mulitupload. will have link when it finishes in about 15 min

No APP2SD. I think APPD2SD is not necessary on the HTC Magic. I have installed lot a softwares on my device and the available space is more than 200MB !
Can anyone confirm that this works on the scandinavian HTC Magic ?

nice rom, better than google's. but there are few things i don't like about this HTC rom: orange stars are not looking so good on black background =) and there is a dark line between messages in gtalk app, which wasn't in google's version.

yes, it does work with vf's magic. to be able to apply custom updates just boot with included recovery image from fastboot menu (back + power, then in terminal: fastboot boot <name of recovery img file>)

i have never updated my firmware before..as i just got my htc magic 2 days ago
so i am completely new to this
i do the unzipping and then what?

Hi, what's up with the YouTube app? Can't we watch videos in high quality? This is one of the fastest ROMs I've tried and I just love it, but the hq issue is quite dissapointing. Is there a fix for this? ^^

Just flashed your ROM, first impressions are that it is pretty nice and fast. One problem though. I don't get the possibility to uninstall the applications that are installed through the applications menu, nor can I find them in the market to uninstall via it.
I guess the only way is to uninstall by removing the apk files in the /system partition. Maybe the permissions are wrong?

What I could see was the new google search widget, but I couldn't use it because it freezed, and some icons. They are not Motorola branded anymore. They are stock android icons. I didn't like it

IDK, I did a wipe/factory reset and started working.
The only problem is that I don't get any signal, and when I try to set it up a stock SKT menu appears asking if I want to use roaming...That's the only problem I found.
EDIT:
Now I have signal...so the phone works.

I can confirm..ROM is working OK
but you have to wipe all data from recovery
BUT....
this is still old 2.1 kernel
(you can put apps on SD card, still...)
edit:
and there are 2 problems
proximity sensor and auto rotate is not working, and touch keys are not illuminated
and Hd video recording is MUCH MUCH better
very fluid, and even in dark it is much better than before...
phone is more responsive than before (even at 550MHz), launcher is much smoother (by design it is the same launcher which comes with XT720), there is no motoblur
quick office is updated...widgets are the same, and that's all..
but unfortunately, I will flash back to 2.1 because of proximity/auto rotate and led buttons

i am a noob, but it seems to me it has a lot of bloats, it has blur and needs a lot of tuning before it is usable for user outside china...(can't even add a google account)

So what are we saying here? not able to flash if you are on 2.51, but if you are on 2.21 or 2.34 you can - makes sense as that was one of the issues with 2.51, but it was resolved.
I'm not going to be getting flash happy with this one anyway, people should lear the lesson from 2.51, best to wait a few days and see how it pan out. I do want to get the sbf though so I can take a look at it.
I am downloading it now ... and yes it's froyo! Will mirror once it's done.

Thats the info we need, its times like this you need a 2nd phone for dev stuff, coz I'm not flashing the sbf on my only phone for sure.
I agree, don't suggest flashing this until its been looked at. Be patient, I can assure you it won't be offering that much more that 2.1 with JIT is already in the interim.

another thing cool about this rom is....the dialer is capable of "smart dialing" (i.e. it searches the best contact match on the fly when u dial..)

if i not wrong....boot.sbf its: Ramdld/cg35 and file .hmg to split with sbf recalc...or only fixed sbf?
flashed the kernel correctly baut not booted miui, so sbf is real but, someone should flash it to see if boots.
Is sb installing? Defy lives?
Maybe update.zip from cg39?

I have flashed the no-downgradable 2.3.6 rom, with the new kernel. Can I flash this, or any other of this ROM's?

just flash whit rsdlite the full sbf
turn off you phone press on volume+ and power and flash
but is NO DOWNGRADE after that
thx. it worked great with the first rom from the list
Could add to first porst notification about "no downgrade", "APN-problems", "Wifi-problems" and "VPN-problems"

No, because they use a diffren bootloader which can't load the froyo kernel.
So, in the end, what is the easiest way of rooting these roms?

The d stands for Deutschland (germany), the A stands for austria and CH, I think, stands for switzerland but I'm not sure.

thx, I guessed the D ans A right, just could not get my head around the CH part...
Funny they use an A for östenreich, that threw me off...
I guess this is the SBF I need to revive my Dutch mb526, since we don't have official support/Moto version, and I bought my phone the week it came out in .DE (UK was a week later.)
