which is the best battery backup android phone..? - General Questions and Answers

tell me some good battery backup phones
i mean some high end phones not the basic ones
i bought htc DHD on jan 3rd every thing is good but the battery back up is very worst i want to sell out this , i have to charge twice or thrice a day
...

Do you mean battery life? How long the battery is lasting? The Desire HD doesn't have the best but then there's not much of an improvement with any other smartphone either.
Either have a charger wherever you go or buy a spare battery so that you always have another with you.

Again, there is no such "best of this ot that"
What is best for me could not be for you and even more on terms of battery life as those will depend on many factors.

Android Battery Life

I know that we're told that android phones should last a day at least, but in the real world that's not always true. My Desire gets through about 15-17 hours before dying.
Which Android phone has the best battery life? I'm looking for a reasonably recent one, not neccessarily high specs, but that will comfortably last a day at least.
Thanks
You should try and install the latests firmware update : HTC_WWE_1.21.40
Did wonders on my Desire
I already have, it doesn't seem to have made much difference.
I'm asking though because my wife needs a new phone and wants one with better battery life
Dont buy a phone with a large touchscreen, or a smartphone.
The more a phone does, the more battery it eats.
HTC desire, iPhone, HTC HD2 they all eat power.
Get a traditional candy bar type phone if you just want a phone, or a blackberry if you need e-mail and web.
The battery life on blackberries has always been pretty good.

[Q] 1800 amh Battery

Does anyone have any experience of http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....87534&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2130wt_1132
It would be better if you get another geniuine htc desire battery and just alternate between them because somethimes these kinds of high capacity ones are just crappy chinese fakes and some times give you less battery than the original

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXTENDED-HIGH...831?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27b96b6d47
This doesnt make your Desire too fat like the 3000mAh and got significantly better times than the battery you chose because the stock battery also got 1400mAh, would be "just" a extension about 400 mAh...
Disadvantage: you can't use your stock protection case (if u do) because theres also a new case for that bigger battery
that battery is utter crap. worse than the orginal imo.

I would also be interested in a high quality, high capacity replacement battery for my desire.
Any1 know an actually good battery?

I've just bought an original battery from this seller for 8 GBP.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-35H00132-...aultDomain_3&hash=item1c1c1162c9#ht_720wt_906
I have only done one full cycle on it, but I think it is genuine. It is a tiny bit different from my original, but I think not all HTC batteries are the same.
I am using this battery http://www.dealextreme.com/p/replac...-battery-with-charger-for-htc-desire-g7-45427 of course its not 1600, it is about 1300-1400 mah but for now it last for me same as original battery which is almost 1 year old now, so not so bad to use it as spare battery when you out of juice.also you get wall charger-while one batery charging you can use your phone with another one,but don't recommend to charge it in desire-you know its made in china but for me it works ok, i am totally happy with it.so if you decided to buy not original battery, then buy and wall charger(or buy that from DX), because you dont want to explode your desire. do you? goog luck. regards
Yeah I bought that Chinese 1800amh battery too and it's terrible! I calibrated it and as you do with new batteries and it simply doesn't hold a charge. The stock battery lasts much longer when properly calibrated! I don't even think it's 1800amh. I'd suggest getting the Mugen Power battery. I got one for my old HTC Legend and it lasted ages!!! It was more expensive like between E30 - 40 but well worth it! They have a 1600amh one for the Desire, if you want a good battery that lasts, I'd strongly recommend it.

Battery suggestions?

I'm planning on buying a higher capacity batter for my DHD: any suggestions? I don't want a bulky external battery, the thing is big enough as it is.
I found this on eBay, but it seems waaay too good to be true.. Is there a risk of it exploding in my pocket, or just of it being really crappy?
Are the Mugen (1500mAh) or Andida (1800mAh) batteries any good?
Any answers will be appreciated
Thanks
From what I've read, the Mugen batteries are good but they don't make too much of a difference in normal usage. I really doubt there can be such a huge jump in mAh without any increase in size as the two batteries suggest. 1500 mAh seems plausible, but 1800 mAh seems very unlikely. The actual capacity will be much less than advertised, hence the not so great performance improvement.
In my opinion, (if you haven't done this already) you'd be better off rooting your phone and installing one of many custom ROMs here which give excellent battery life over the stock ROM. I get around 18 hours of moderate to heavy usage and more than a day of light usage. Also, I keep 2 standard batteries. The battery life offered by that combination is much better than a single higher capacity battery, and the HTC battery costs a lot less too.

I want a higher capacity battery also! any one have suggestions?
Thanks for your answer I might go for the spare battery, even though I probably won't ever have it on me when I actually need it
As you can see from my sig, I have installed RCMix's latest custom ROM, but while it adds lots of great features, my battery life is actually shorter than with stock.

Yeah I tried RCMix3d Runny 4.0 and found the battery life quite bad too. Even with killersloth's UV scripts and all that. That and average GPS performance (~6 satellites usually, weak lock) were the only problems with it. The RCTweaks are awesome.
For the best battery life and fast GPS lock (~10 satellites strong lock), from my trials, I've found that these ROMs give the best performance -

Of course these aren't the only ones, but I've used these for long and can speak for them.
I keep a spare battery with me at all times. Finally found some use for that small square pocket in my jeans
It's not too much of a bother once you make it a habit, and it's helped me out in quite a few situations.

If you're going to buy a replacement battery, get an OEM one (0% improvement over stock ) or get the Mugen 1500mAh - that may just get you through to the end of the day.
Definitely, install a different ROM, and look at the clockspeed options you're given (or just install OC/UV Beater) You can overclock or underclock, and also play with undervolting, which improves efficiency.
Also consider network management, screen brightness etc -an easy way to do so is to use Juice Defender, though the purists say all their options can be effected manually.
And if all else fails, you can carry a battery pack around http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-D...1OK4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326811038&sr=8-3 this is 5000mAh, these people produce an 11000mAh version. My 5000mAh pack is great for sticking in the rucksack on a long day out with GPS enabled, cost about GBP20 - of all the options I evaluated, this is best value for money - also no need to switch phone off, vs changing the battery). Their customer service was very responsive when I told them that the charging cable wasn't working
Don´t waste your money in chinese batteries.I tried a few myself. If you really need it,the best thing is to buy anther OEM one.
Mugen's 1500 battery shows about 15% better capacity than my almost year-old stock one (1270 vs. 1095mAh, as measured by the battery monitor widget, after its first 4 cycles). Does not look quite like 1500mAh, but I guess the stock one never did register 1320mAh in that measurement either - it's either a systematic error, residual change or something...

If you are using a case (for example an otterbox or a case from casemate) then this is your best option!
The original htc sensation battery has 1520mAh and costs a lot less than the one from mugen. And i'd say you can trust original htc batteries more than anything found on ebay
Anyone Used this one:

I have an (china) battery from ebay with 1600 mAh. the battery life on our phones is really really poor. I heavily used my phone of the day an i only get a battery life from 6-8 hours, and thats really bad. So i found that no battery is even better than the original.
Though Mugen is not a perfect solution, it is better than stock batt.
Don't just go for price when you are buying batteries too, especially those dirt cheap china batteries. I bought a few before, it bloated up after a few months of usage.
hi, can some one suggest me(I am heavy user) witch is the best battery for DHD and best place to buy ?
Thanks
Due to DHD specialty, there can be used batteries with the capacity not more than 1500 mAh. All the numbers more than 1500 are either lie, or mean that battery is thicker than DHD body can support.

That's why you've got three options:
1) use multiple batteries (not really an option)
2) use an external charger (better, but i don't want to carry around more than the phone)
3) if you use a protective case then get a sensation battery....mines got 1900mAh and fits nicely into my DHD
You can also use a secour / external battery .You can reload four or five time you phon whit.
I have one extra 1230mAh battery & an Energizer XP2000 Portable charger. But to my opinion, adjusting your phone-charging habits makes all the difference. Anticipate with respect to your day's routine.
Though, I'm looking forward for the GSM version of Motorola Droid Maxx, or for any other that rivals its battery capacity.
p.s. charging extra batteries individual would be nice. I should try modding some usb cable to connect directly to the battery contacts, hmmmm...

Battery too weak?

Hello XDA Community, i'm a HTC Sensation owner and i got it from service 3 days ago (the phone had really frequent shutdowns and the battery only lasted like 2 hours even without using it). Altough it doesn't have those problems i experience a really weak battery... As you can see from the photos i only had a 9h and 20 minutes lifetime from 100%, with only 2 hours and 7 minutes Screen On... Today i played games around 1 hour, used the internet 5-10 minutes , talked for like 1 minute and sent 5 messages. Is it normal that a 1520 mAh battery drains so fast?
I had the same problem when I first got my Sensation. Mine was used, so the battery was already a year old, but the phone was mint. I had the same terrible drain as you have, and I hardly used mine during the day. I rooted it and tried a few ROM's, and found that so far, anything based on Bruce's CM10 gives the best battery life. Will defiantly be try the Viper ROM today though.
If you don't want to root, I would pick up one of these:

I'm going to be trying one out myself.

Hi I had same issue, tried Anker it was a good battery but I still needed more juice . I went to Mugen 3800mah battery. Now with HEAVY use I get more than 24 hours use out of one charge! I can't stress enough what a difference this battery has made for me! Yes it is expensive but for me it was worth every cent! I am a heavy user of my device and rely on it for everything from navigation to internet to gaming. This is a serious battery , it solved all my battery drain issues ! One thing through, it does make you're device a bit thicker but it still fits in pocket and feels good in my hand. For me, battery life is what I'm after so I don't at all mind the thicker phone I'm not in a beauty contest, I wanted results! This battery delivers. If your a moderate user you might not need so much juice but if you're a heavy user like I am this battery is the answer! It will not disappoint! If you find Anker is not providing enough juice and want more time on battery, do consider Mugen 3800mah. You won't worry about running out of battery Again! This battery with HEAVY use will still be on 100% two hours later!! My biggest issue was battery drain and this battery solved that problem for me. Like I mentioned its not for everyone because it will make device thicker but if you're serious about battery life it's the way to go! So depending on your use this might be an other option for you. If you use your device heavily, I highly recommend this battery. Best wishes to you!

Thanks for the tip... I'm not such a heavy user of my phone but atm its still unbealiveable short on it's life. If i would take it out of the charger at 100% and play 1 and a half hour it will get to 1%...
Have you gave Anker a try? Most people here really like Anker and its given great extended battery. It's very affordable and I think it would be a wonderful solution to your issue.battery will make a big difference. You will see. My stock battery was absolutely pathetic. After I switched it was like night And day a huge difference! I believe Anker is only about 10 to 15 dollars and you won't regret switching. This is one solution to your issue. Best wishes. You can also try changing kernels and see if that helps but I think a Anker battery will really help in your situation.

Just thought I'd put my two cents in...
Whilst a higher capacity battery will help to some extent, IMHO it's like buying a bigger hose instead of fixing the hole in the bucket.
To clarify, I do actually own an Anker 1900mAh battery as well as the stock battery, but only because it was cheap and I was interested to see how much difference it made. I switch between the two on a regular basis. I can't deny the Anker certainly has a better cycle length than stock, but as I was already achieving well in excess of a full day's use on stock battery the benefit to me was negligible.
Another clarification, I'm not one of those people who will refuse to use their phone all day and then crow about their "amazing" battery life. You buy a smartphone because you want to use it. Mine is a work phone and as such is well used every day, making/receiving calls and texts, camera shots, VPN access etc. Then there's my personal use, web browsing, eBay, bluetooth audio every time I get in the car or work truck, e-books, games and so on. Not to labour the point but the phone comes off the charger at 6 am every work day and always has some life left when it goes back on the charger at 10 or 11 pm.
I guess, partly because of what I do for a job, I'm not a fan of "bigger hammer" solutions. There is a wealth of information here on XDA and you can greatly increase your battery life and cost you nothing but a bit of time spent reading. For a start I'd suggest looking into Battery Monitor Widget and/or Better Battery Stats (this thread).
I don't know if you're rooted or not, there are huge gains to be made with rooting and the possibilities that come with that. However, my wife's completely stock One S had absolutely atrocious battery life out of the box, and of course no possibility of increasing battery capacity, but with a few tweaks and better understanding she can still get a day's use out of her phone.
Sorry for the lengthy reply, but I see a lot of "get a bigger battery" responses to these questions when there are other options you can explore

Polarcell battery?

I am running an unofficial CM 10.1 ROM on my DHD and with 'slight' use I can probably get a full day out of the battery. Prior to the CM 10.1 ROM I was running a custom rooted ROM based on the final official android 2.3 ROM from HTC and I remember the battery lasting much longer (over 12-months ago). I won't be moving back to Gingerbread but want to improve my battery life and have seen good reports of the PolarCell batteries
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390392597069?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Has anyone replaced their stock battery with one of these? Any comments?
Andy
Would be interested in knowing this also. Dont suppose you took the plunge and bought one?
Hi guys
I would be interested too on this question, or another battery brand.
Only want that someone with experience tell us if possible which battery and what brand/model is the best nowadays to buy to our great Desire HD?
And if you can post the link where to buy and maybe some buyer reviews, would be wonderfully.
Because are too many "Fake" vendors nowadays.
But for some questions that I asked to other few members and one recognized developer, they said that one of best batteries are:
First - Oem
Second - Mugen
Third - Anker
....
That PolarCell I never heard do not know =S
Cheers
I guess dhd battery is a pain in the a** for everybody, I suggest you to go for sensation xe, evo 3d type batteries. There are plenty of ways to do it (with battery door or without) I was personally using without battery door because I was already using silicon cover for all phone. Btw you need to apply a small copper wire for external wireless antenna which is already built-in with your original battery door. Search for thread in this section you will find Evo3d battery thread. I have changed to HOX but still my wife is using my beloved DHD with 1950mah Mugen. Believe me it gives equal amount of satisfaction for this money. If you don't want to spend that amount, go for original Amaze 4g battery (which has the highest capacity when compare with evo 3d if I don't remember wrong) still you will be satisfied with battery life.
Please don't ask me, which rom am I using or how is battery life. It depends on people and how they are using.
I can give several examples, heavy usage with all the time 3g, bluetooth, mail sync, whatsapp, viber, browsing, auto brightness but no games and no wireless: it will handle 1.5 day.
or
Moderate usage, all the time mobile network on, a bit whatsapp, several regular calls, a bit browsing, no gaming and wireless off. My wife can easily manage for 2.5 days.
One more thing, if you will have 1950 mugen, your battery will stuck at %15, don't panic it will stay there for at least several hours (according to your usage ofc). Its some kind of a bug. I don't know if somebody found a solution.
I hope, my reply will enlighten you a bit Cheers!
Been using a Polarcell since october 2012 from the manufacturer CellePhone: (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B004I227RK)
New, it lasts the same as the original for me, that means about 3 hours of screen on with about the 70% of the total battery time, automatic brightness but mainly outdoors, so I bet that the auto brightness is actually full brightness the most part of the time, using 3G and no "data sync demanding apps running in background" except whatsapp and the usual google services.
I use to charge the battery every night while I sleep and even though I'm aware that overcharging a long time is harmful I use to let it charge until I wake the next morning.
With this usage schema, I'm facing today a 20% loss approximately, because the battery skips from 80% to 100% when charging.
So is more than a year of usage, around 400 charge cycles, and for 10€ is a good investment for me.
Being from a german company inspires more confidence than chinese clones.
Hope this helps to all of you folks!
A friend of mine picked one up and he had nothing but good things to say. I'll update this post once he replies to my text for exact details!
Bought one a few days ago from http://www.ebay.de/usr/wannsee-electronic (Germany).
The one i bought is for HTC Sensation, sold as 1800 mAh. To fit in DHD i remove the "film" and im surprising to see that on the aluminiumcase of the accu is written 1700 mAh.
Contact the merchant today and wait for an answer. So I didn't know it depends on Polarcell or the reseller...
I just got one myself for Desire S, it is a 1600mAh battery. Been using it for 3 days and I'm quite satisfied with this product.. I also bought one Anker battery for Desire HD....
I can't really compare those cuz its on a different device and different ROM. But I feel that both are doing fine for now..... You can give it a try.
Btw, Anker battery comes with full package, it comes with a box and manual.... The polarcell that I received just comes with a battery with no box, nothing else..
Maybe I would suggest you to get Anker.
Don't forget to use Battery Monitor Widget to see if its actualy a good battery.
I got one today for my old DHD.After couple days of usage I'll post and my opinions.
