try moving all your camera pictures to your desktop. then clear your data in the camera app and the gallery app. you might have to factory reset to fix it, so consider backing up some of your data.

very easy, you dont need an app for it. very basically... install drivers to your desktop, download sdk, "fastboot oem unlock", flash clockwork recovery, flash a rom(and gapps if needed). read the threads here. shouldnt take you more than 30-60min.

How do I do the fastboot OEM unlock?

Yes, there are tons of guides out there, and even one click scripts that can ROOT the SNS (Samsung Nexus S) for you, but none of them go into enough detail for any of them to work properly.
Having many android devices working properly via ADB on your computer doesn't automatically guarantees it will see the SNS.
So, before jump to the exiting stuff of ROOTing the SNS, lets cover some basics to actually get you started and make sure you can actually ROOT the SNS, else all is in vain.
Part 1
Download Android SDK 2.3 or click the file name android-sdk_r08-windows.zip (32 MB) direct from Google, instead of wasting your time jumping through hoops and dodging pop up/flash ADs from those FileSharing places.
Turn Off your SNS
Make sure the SNS is connected to the PC via the USB cable
Boot the SNS into the Bootloader Interface, by holding Volume UP & Power button
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
it reads LOCK STATE - LOCKED
open Device Manager (or run devmgmt.msc) make sure you don't see this problem (windows failed to identify the SNS and install the correct drivers)
Do a right click and select Update Driver Software
Select Brose my computer for driver software
point it to where you downloaded the Android SDK 2.3 (..\android-sdk-windows\google-usb_driver)
Make sure to CLICK "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Then from the list 3 choices select Android Bootloader Interface
If it's installed properly it should show up like this (reboot is not required)
NOTE: if you encounter problems like question marks, unknown drivers, or exclamation marks eve after you have installed the drivers, download and try the USBDeview 32/64 to remove and uninstall all the junk USB devices from your computer/registry
Now that the basic preparations are done, we can finally get to have fun with the SNS & hack away via ADB.exe / FASTBOOT.exe
Part 2
open a command prompt go to run & type CMD hit enter
switch to the directory where you downloaded & unzipped the ..\android-sdk-windows\tools
type fastboot oem unlock and hit enter
Then you will get this
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
...
meanwhile on the SNS you'll see this screen
selecting YES will wipe EVERYTHING from the SNS, so make sure you have backed up everything you needed to safe before you continue.
use the Volume up/down keys to select and Power key to apply
you should see something like this after it's done
Code:
... OKAY [435.433s]
finished. total time: 435.433s
now back on this screen you should read
LOCK STATE - UNLOCKED
Download the clockwork recovery recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.0-crespo.img image, and save it to the ..\android-sdk-windows\tools directory
renamed it to recovery.img
then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and hit enter
you should get something like this, if not your image is corrupted, download it again
Code:
sending 'recovery' (3980 KB)... OKAY [ 0.621s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.511s]
finished. total time: 1.132s
Then back on the SNS select Power Off (Reboot also works)
Power ON the SNS
...meanwhile the SNS is rebooting Download superuser from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
choose the Eclair/Froyo version
Mount the USB storage
drag/drop the su-version#-signed.zip file into the root of the internal SD of the SNS
Power Off the SNS
Boot the SNS into the Bootloader Interface, by holding Volume UP & Power button
select Recovery
then it should boot into this screen, if not then repeat the steps to download the image
select install ZIP from sdcard (power button to apply)
select choose zip from sdcard (power button to apply)
select su-version#-signed.zip file you downloaded earlier, and apply it
select yes - install su-version#-signed.zip
confirm it says "Install from sdcard complete"
select go back
select reboot
done!
Enjoy your unlocked & rooted phone!

Seriously, you have a buggy phone before even rooting, I'm not sure rooting will fix it for you. What if your hardware for the camera is bad and that's what's causing the problem? Once rooted, you'll have to worry about un-rooting and relocking the bootloader to avoid any warranty hassles. I'd take it back and exchange it before rooting.
Make sure you have a solid working phone before rooting!
On another note, even though it's in red in the posted tutorial, let me reemphasize that the oem unlock step WILL WIPE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE, INCLUDING THE SDCARD (internal one)...so if you have any pics or stuff on there you can't afford to lose, transfer them to the computer via USB before starting the root process.

[HOWTO] Manually Flash Koush's ClockworkMod Recovery (If You Are Already Rooted)

1. Find the recovery image you want and MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE (should say in where you download it what phone it is for).
2. Write down the filename of the recovery image EXACTLY as it is written (i.e. recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-heroc.img).
3. Put the recovery image file on the SD card (not in any folders).
4. Download Terminal from the Market if you don't already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market some have an onscreen keyboard and some don't experiment till you get one, also hold down Menu in some of them to bring up the onscreen keyboard if you don't see it).
5. Open the Terminal program and type the following (with hitting enter at the end of each line).
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img
6. In the above text, replace name-of-recovery.img with the name of your recovery image (make sure the .img is on the end).
7. Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.

[Q] Need help / advice - Nexus S without boot or recovery img.

Hi everyone,
So this is my issue. Yesterday i tried to root my working nexus s i9020t with a one click root on my mac computer. Terminal said 'root ok' everything was ok then the phone didnt get past the google startup.
So i tried recovery... that didnt do anything.
Then i started with SDK on my windows 7 machine and with fastboot.
Basically i erased everything on the phone (boot and recovery)
Fastboot is unlocked. At the top it says no boot or recovery img.
When i do 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' with my recovery.img in the same folder on windows it says 'cannot load or mount recovery.img'
Fastboot is seeing the phone since it is listed when I write 'fastboot devices'.
Basically i think i ruined the recovery file, dont care about rooting right now, just want to load a recovery image or boot image.
If i go down to recovery on the phone in fastboot it will start fastboot again and say ' no boot or recovery img'
Any help?
THANK YOU!

To me it sounds like fastboot can't find your recovery image.
Could you try doing fastboot with the absolute path?
On windows (path for example):
fastboot flash recovery C:\android\recovery.img
Make sure you get the backspaces right.
On linux (for example)
fastboot flash recovery /home/user/android/recovery.img
Good luck.

Progress report - So i now have clockworkmod recover v5.0.2.0 on my android nexus s 9020t and have tried everything from Stock rom to a different rom to update.zip the file.... nothing has worked.
I tried to install the update.zip from the recovery and get the error that there is an error in /sdcard/update.zip
is it possible clockworkmod recovery v5 wont work with my nexus s?
thanks!

You know that you have to copy the ROM zip file to the SDCard and then choose 'Install zip from sdcard' option in CWM, selecting the download ROM zip file, right?

[Q] [Noob] Problems Rooting MT4GS

I am having so much trouble getting mytouch4gS to root. I am under the impression that the usb drivers aren't installed Though I could be wrong... I've downloaded HTC Sync (It doesn't recognize the device) Installed with anti-virus disabled, Fastboot is off, USB debug enabled. I've tried using the HTC Boot Unlocker, Revolutionary Method, and one of the Tool Kits here on XDA and none seem to be able to recognize my device... How the fok do I get this thing rooted?
HBOOT: 1.44.0007 (S-On)
This is the code that it throws
Code:
C:\Users\Admin>cd \Android
C:\Android>fastboot oem get_identifier_token
...
(bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.009s]
finished. total time: 0.009s
Go with Revolutionary. I had problems initially getting the token to work but I was substituting a zero for an "O" or something. I copied and pasted the token from Revolutionary and it worked like a champ.

Did you install the fastboot drivers?
They are seperate from htc sync.
You can find them on the revolutionary page.
Use rev to s-off it and then you can root your rom or install a new one after replacing your recovery.

Fully Rooted. S-Off.
Attached is Fastboot.exe from Mr. Root and Signed Superuser.
This is the step by step I used for revolutionary for anyone in the future who is having issues with rooting their MyTouch 4g Slide /Doubleshot
http://theunlockr.com/2011/09/09/how-to-permanently-root-and-gain-s-off-on-the-t-mobile-mytouch-4g-slide-revolutionary-method/
II. Gain S-Off
1. Download the latest version of the tool from the developers here (the initial versions require you to generate a beta key for you to use the program, just follow the steps to do so. If it lets you download the program without a beta key, then it’s a newer version than at the time of writing this, just continue):
Revolutionary
2. Plug in your device.
3. Select charge only if the option exists on your device, or just do NOT mount the SD Card.
4. On your device, click on Settings > Applications > Development > Turn USB Debugging ON.
5. Find the Revolutionary program you downloaded and unzip it to the TempRoot folder inside the TempRoot folder you extracted in Section II.
6. Right click it and select Open as Administrator (if you do not have that option when you right click, simply select Open).
7. Input your beta key you received and wait for it to do it’s thing (if you are using a newer version of Revolutionary then it might not ask you for this. If that is the case, just continue).
III. Flash a Custom Recovery Image
1.. Once done gaining S-Off, it will ask you if you want to flash clockworkmod recovery, type in y and hit enter.
2. Once it is done flashing the recovery image it will close the command prompt window.
3. On your phone, you should see S-Off at the top.
4. Take out the battery and put it back in.
5. Turn on the device, by holding down volume down and power until the screen boots up.
6. Push volume down and then power to select recovery.
7. If the phone reboots to the clockworkmod recovery screen you are all set.
IV. Gain Permanent Root Access.
1. With the phone still in clockworkmod recovery from the last step, plug it in via USB cable.
2. Select Mounts and Storage by using the volume buttons to move and power to select.
3. Then select mount USB storage (the sd card directory should pop up on your computer screen)
4. Download the root .zip file and save it to your computer (do NOT extract it)
MyTouch Slide 4G Root .zip File
5. Copy the root .zip file to the root of your sdcard and wait for it to transfer (not in any folders, just on the sd card itself).
6. On your device, select unmount sdcard.
7. On your device, select go back.
8. Then select Install zip from sdcard and choose the root .zip file.
9. Wait for it to flash, once done, select reboot system now.
10. Once your device reboots, open the app drawer and you should see Superuser permissions there. If so, you are all set, you are rooted, have S-Off and a custom recovery image.

Red triangle
Hi, i cant get to the recovery mode...
I press Power und volume up but there is just the Android with a red triangle.
Can you help?
What ROM can you use with this ?
Some of the files are named a little bit differently, but overall pretty much straightforward steps thanks to the guide above.

I did not have to do that. I simply added a Google account, started the Google Play Store and it told me there was an update for "superuser".
Did the update, rebooted and done!

Any ROM that you can find that is compatible with the Star B92M.

Your best option is to contact the seller and ask him for more information about this.
After flashing with 2.5GB ROM, I have issue with my camera: it detects 80MB partition as the SDcard partition.
Anyone know how to change this? Or.. which file should I look for to change the camera save location?
Make sure you have an external sd-card inserted in the phone. It should automatically be mounted to /sdcard/ where you should have enough space to store your camera photos.

What charger are you using and how fast/slw will it charge a empty battery?
Mine takes for ever (8hrs from 0%), the charger fastcardnet send me, but also a standard usb charger i got.
I'm just using the default micro USB chargers I have laying around. I never charge via a computer (USB) though.

Yes worked!
Hi,
I have followed this guide but I didn't get root access.
I also wiped data and did the factory reset but there is no superuser...
What do I have to do now?
And I have another question: What do I need to do to go to the Internet by connecting to my Laptop (in it's function as a Wifi-hotspot) and using his wired-internet-connection? I only got it by Ad-Hoc but it seems that this doesn't work anyway...
Thx,

Try flashing again and Superuser should be working. Once flashed I suggest you start the play store and you'll see that there is an update available.
About the Wi-fi: that's something computer related so don't know for sure about that one. I just Googled and came across this website:

I have the same problem, how did you fix it?
I had a 2.5 GB space on my Internal SD Card before I do this root, now it is 83 MB, I could try a factory reset but I still need the rooting so I will run into this problem again.

When I first did the root I did not the su.zip step so I booted my phone and it informed me that my internal SD card is damaged amd asked me if I wanted to format it, I clicked yes and then it became 83 MB, I did the root again and flashed su.zip too, I also tried to format the internal SD card but it is still 83 MB.
I think I need to reformat with specifying the new size, how can I do that?

Prerequisites :
YOUR BOOTLOADER MUST BE UNLOCKED

-If you have problems with the device drivers installed , you will need to install lg bridge, you can download it from here:
http://tool.lime.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=PWZO7A26B9UW
How to flash Twrp:
BOOT INTO FASTBOOT MODE:
With your phone off, connect your usb cable to your phone while holding VOLUME DOWN to boot into fastboot mode or just type [adb reboot bootloader] in the adb terminal
ONCE YOU ARE IN FASTBOOT MODE:
Open a command prompt and type "fastboot flash recovery <path_to_recovery.img>” without the quotation marks.
Example: fastboot flash recovery C:/Users/John/Desktop/recovery.img
[don't forget to extract the downloaded recovery zip to get the recovery.img]
WHEN THE FLASH COMPLETES: (Takes about 2 seconds)
On your phone, unplug the usb cable and power it off by taking out the battery and putting it back in.
BOOT INTO RECOVERY MODE FOR THE FIRST TIME
HOLD VOLUME DOWN + POWER until you see the LG logo and then temporarily release the POWER button, immediately pressing and holding it back down until you see the white prompt [factory reset] screen. You will NEVER release the volume down button in this process!
Use the hard keys to select "YES" and then "YES" again to boot into TWRP
How to Disable encryption and flash super su [Install Root]:
1. In TWRP, go to Wipe > Format Data. Enter the keyword ‘yes‘, in the provided space and enter. This will wipe the automatically encrypted filesystem, and decrypt it.
2. Once the wiping is done, reboot back into recovery. Go to Reboot > Recovery.
3. When the recovery boots again, connect your phone to the PC and Enable MTP under the Mount section.
4. Transfer the downloaded ‘no-verity-opt-encrypt-**.zip’ and ‘SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip to your internal storage or EXTSD
5. Disconnect the device now.
6. Tap on Install. Now, navigate your phone’s storage and select ‘no-verity-opt-encrypt-**.zip’. Finally swipe the ‘Swipe to confirm Flash’ button on the bottom of the screen.
7. The flashing process will merely take a few seconds. And when it’s done, follow the same method to flash the root package – SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip [/B]
Wait 1 or 2 minutes after the zip files are done flashing then reboot system and PROFIT! Your phone may take 3-5 minutes to boot the first time and it might boot-loop once or twice at the Metro PCS splash screen but don’t worry this is expected.

Just strange that a TWRP recovery just came out for the same device 2 hours previous to your post.

Ah actually is strange that the one you are talking about came directly after i posted on your topic saying I posted test twrp for aristo 2 on my blog (posted 4 days ago on my blog)

I was not aware of that friend, my apologies.
I'm having an issue, Instagram Twitter and Facebook refuse to update after using magisk, so I switched to SuperSU and I still have the same problem. The only way to get it to work is to remove root. I can't even connect to them through the browser it keeps saying failed to uodate

I got it restored eventually but im still having the same issur that made me try a factory reset in the first place. Half the time, i need to reboot for my phone to charge and some of those times the notifications that its charging and that debug is on stay in the status bar. Im at my wits end.
I just grabbed an Aristo 2 and though I don't know how long I'll have it, in my free time ( which is limited ) I'm going to be working on getting a full rom package with kernel compiled. What would you guys like to see? I primarily focus on flagships, and this is definitely a budget device but it's been working well for me despite the snapdragon 425 and only 2gb ram...I'd like to see some development for this thing and though I've only spent about 20 minutes looking around on xda it seems it's very limited (which is to be expected)...Can someone give me a brief rundown on where we are with the device and what yet needs accomplished to be ready for a compile? Are sources available (kernel source, etc)? I thought I read back in another post (messi2050?) that some sources had been obtained? I'm going to go back over it and see what else is needed....do we have defconfig and whatnot to build? Any info you guys can paraphrase will make this all a lot faster since I've got very limited time to research but access to a poweredge r330 blade with 32GB and a 3.4ghz octa to compile on....I've already set up the VM with linux and am waiting to see what else I find that I'm going to need and decide on a build (lineage, cm, stock rooted, etc) before I take the time to download android source....I've only got a 50mbps line coming into the server so a 40gb source download isn't exactly fast and I work construction so I'm in and out but never seem to have EXTENDED periods of time to sit down and burn the keyboard up....
Thanks guys....I'm about to install Tapatalk on the device and I'll be out-n-about checking on jobs in the field but if anyone wants to DM me and bring me up to speed I'll be sure to reply....In the meantime as time allows I can remote the server at the office if need be....
-Rx8driver
I've also noticed that driver issues are pretty noticeable using win10 in fastboot mode...i had to load the Google driver manually to get fastboot mode working... if you're having issues take a close look thru the device manager and make sure the lg driver is properly loaded when the device is in fastboot and download modes if you're running win10...
