TnT Build 3588 - download it, digest it, and use it at your own risk - G Tablet General

Linky: http://tapntap.http.internapcdn.net/tapntap/viewsonic/update-smb_a1002-3588-user.zip
Found this completely by chance (and via a little help from a ruby script). The /viewsonic portion tells me that this might, and I stress MIGHT, be a soon-to-be-released final. We shall see.

Anything great in it a 2.3 Maybe

Fat chance on that. I don't expect 2.3 from them for quite a while, unfortunately.
Gingerbread cm7 or TnT 3588 to test tonight.... hmmm.......
EDIT: Very few changes between 3452 and 3588 - the usually app apks touched, build.prop, and the framework files. I haven't checked the kernel version yet. Maybe they finally fixed the camera.
EDIT EDIT: Same kernel as 3452, so this would be a TNTL 4.2.0. Not sure what they changed over 3452 yet, maybe just some under-the-hood tweaks. No Flash in here, btw.

noticeably faster than 3452
really fast screen transitions
would like to know what was added/updated

I'm going to watch this for a few days, to see if it gets finalized. Good to hear that it seems faster than 3452 - maybe they tweaked something in the framework.

it would be helpful for us neophyte tinkerers if someone could extract the 3588 system disc image file
TIA

Hi,
It's pretty simple to do (Windows):
- Google unyafss.exe and download it
- Unzip the file from VS
- Make a dir named system
- copy system.img to dir system
- cd system
- <path_to_unyaffs>\unyaffs system.img
That should extract it.
Jim

I did a diff betwen 3452 and 3588 already, and only the app apks and framework files have changed. Nothing else. My guess is that 3452 (which is the basis for TNTL 4.x.x) was an early UAT and 3588 is now either a RC or possible a future final version.

Scores 1800+. Stock 3588, no enhancements added.
2400+ with enhancement added.

Scores aside, is there a noticeable speed differnceby addingthe enhancement pack?

THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!Change the wallpaper, I don’t care which on you pick just pick something different that the default one on boot
Then reboot to recovery
Flash the 691 kernel
Flash the EnableJIT.zip
Reboot (dont wipe)
It may boot loop once just let it go. if it doesn’t take reboot to recovery and flash DisableJit.zip

Strange but it was dialing right away for me until I set up my googlevoice app now the lag is back.
google voice will lag the dialer no matter what rom you're running.
it'll lag even more if you select the option for it to ask you each time you dial.

One thing I noticed after I flashed this to my hero was a2sd was version 2.7 Beta 7.
I was trying Fresh 2.1.2 earlier and I know that one used a2sd 2.7 update 1
I found the latest a2sd from another XDA post (sorry I can't post links yet)
so I copied that to my sdcard and flashed that and it seemed to update fine.
Is there any reason I should stay with the a2sd in the rom and not the updated one?
Flashed this a couple of hours ago. Nice to have a rom with everything in it. If I want something removed, then I just pull it. The only problem is that you cannot do a prl update. I pushed the OMADM.apk file from fresh to the /system/app folder and everything works as it should.
Great job getting this out there. Really appreciate it.
I have attached the apk to fix the updateing issue.
Only issue I've found so far is that Teeter won't run (It crashes for me on launch and I have to force quit).
Of course that may not be an issue for others, but I wanted to report.
Hello everyone glad to see there was a demand for something like this, Just my personal opinion but the dialer/phone lag seems to have been reduced greatly with the update, also the phone seems a little more responsive all around, havent seen any negative's about the update as of yet.

[KERNEL] OTA 1.47.651.1 stock boot.img in update.zip

CAUTION: ANY CUSTOM ROM WHICH HAS A MODIFIED KERNEL, PROBABLY WILL BREAK BY USING THIS.
More than likely you will need to copy over the ramdisk. If you don't know how to do this, then wait until your ROM developer does it for you!
Who: For those who are ANXIOUS and the DEVELOPER type (more advanced users) who want to load the new kernel which comes with the OTA_Supersonic_1.47.651.1-1.32.651.6_release.zip released today.
If you're not an advanced user or the developer type, please wait for the builder of the ROM you're using to release their own update!
What: I've pulled the boot.img from the firmware.zip inside of the OTA_Supersonic_1.47.651.1-1.32.651.6_release.zip and put it into this update.zip.
Tech Details: This update.zip copies flash_image and boot.img to /system/bin and /system, flashes the new boot.img and deletes boot.img from /system. My first time creating this type of update.zip on the EVO!

Do you have any of the Sprint and/or HTC apps removed? I removed a bunch of that bloatware and I read that some people couldn't get the update to install. Wondering if OP fixed that in this kernel.
That worked Thanx
Kernel's working just fine with Avalaunch's Froyo ROM.

Have you used Koush's anykernel? I think you can make a update.zip that works with any kernel..
It just hasn't worked properly for me yet...
Here's link:

It should extract the ramdisk and everything from your current kernel and just replace the zImage and then flashes boot.img.

i prob wont delve into this yet cuz i haven't modified the ramdisk at all, but this is encouraging!
ill prob wait till we get some htc source code for the kernel, and then dive into customizing the kernel and the ramdisk or if i get bored and wanna customize my ROM with this stock kernel and custom ramdisk!

me too, but i have to admit... there is a difference from my tab for the first 10 minutes it boots compared to after i open a couple apps. even if i try to kill all running processes with a task manager and it says it closed them all. it slows just a tiny bit
but all in all i wouldn't change a thing about my gtab other than light up soft keys and a different lcd. but even those aren't a big issue
i tried this lagfix and it failed for me. i could not install the ext2 tools in order to run the lagfix. however this lagfix apk has the onclick root on it as well as the lagfix, pretty handy if it worked.

To use Titanium Backup, your GTab needs rooted.
Best way is:
- install TnT-Lite from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004

Be sure to read all instructions posted in 1st page.
Hope this help.

v3.1.4b has files that are specifically from 3389, so it will only confidently work with that build. For example, the g-sensor fix.
I included the generic enhancement pack for people who don't want the sensor fix, or for using on a new TnT build. When a new TnT build it will take some time for someone to churn out a g-sensor fix for it.

You can delete the update.zip when you are done with it.
I'm not sure if TB will do that, but root explorer should. As for what you can or can't delete, you can remove alot of the TnT app apks if you don't plan on using them (but of course then you are moving into the realm of TnT Lite).
As for clockworkmod, it's a personal choice but I find it as important as Titanium Backup. The .8 Bekit version is linked in my TnT Lite OP, near the bottom.

[FIXED] Multitouch rotation on Google Maps 5

Ok. Here's the skinny.
First, I am running Vegan Beta 5, and this worked for me. It might work for you to. It might also screw your tablet up. Them's the breaks. The nature of the fix means it shouldn't cause serious issues, but hey, you never know. Make a backup.
You should choose the version for your ROM. If someone running another rom wants to send me your build.prop file, I'll incorporate it into another ROM-specific update.
Flash this file, and you should have working rotation and such on Google Maps 5.
Let me know if there are any problems.
Update (2/1): Added fix for TNT Lite 4.2.1 (thanks atakapa)
Update (2/1): Added fix for VEGAn with Swype included (thanks deep_powder2012)
I flashed this but it didn't work. Still no multitouch rotation for me in maps.

What kernel are you running? I swapped over to Clemsyn's, but didn't think that would make a difference. I'll reflash and check it out.
Anyone else have problems (or try?)

Flashed back to stock and the flashed the fix and rotation worked. Are you willing to do some testing, or give me some info about your system? PM if so.
Thanks
Just flashed it and I can now rotate to the 3d view in maps on VEGAn 5.1 beta. I have to hold my fingers pretty far apart but it works.
Awesome. Thanks!

Worked great for me on vegan5 and pershoot's kernel. Thanks
Worked! for Adam 2nd edit <nice>
Works with TnT Lite 4.2.1 with clemsyn's kernel, didn't try it with default kernel or pershoot's.
Thanks.
To all,
This replaces build.prop in /system with what looks like the one from vega, so back it up before you flash.

Correct. The smarter thing to do would have been to patch the file with the one line that is needed:
ro.opengles.version=131072
For those of you who would like to do that, as well as pushing the correct multitouch file into system/etc/permissions, feel free.
If someone wants to incorporate the patch correctly, I'll be happy to edit the OP.

Just need to flash the .zip then edit your back-up build.prop with the above line and save/replace the Vega one.
This is what I did and it works perfectly.
/edit/ -- .zip for tnt_lite in next post (#11)
Here's the .zip with the corrected build.prop for Tnt_lite_4.2.1
Big Thanks to jwischka for finding this for the vegan rom. I just changed the build.prop to the one from tnt lite.
This would be installed like any supplement *.zip, no wiping data needed. It just adds an xml to the permissions folder and one line at the end of the build.prop to reference correct opengles version.
As always, you are responsible for your equipment and what you do to it.
It worked fine, thanks.

I'm using Vegan with stock kernel but using a modified build.prop to enable swype. I added the opengles line to the bottom of the build.prop and pushed the .xml to system/etc/permissions folder but still no joy. Funny, I had flashed the zip in recovery but when I went to make these edits later after reading the comments, my build.prop was unchanged and the new xml file not in the permissions folder, like the script didn't "take". I've rebooted several times but still no rotation. I can zoom just fine using multitouch but can't rotate. However, the little round dot on the top right does change to look like a compass when tap it. I don't think it did that before. ?? I'll be happy to test any other suggestions!
Thanks!

I found that if you flash the file provided in the original post (THANKS SO MUCH, BTW!), and then go re-edit your build.prop with Root Explorer the same way the original directions said to initially enable Swype, it all works! (I've got full-on Swype and Maps 5.0 rotation going right now on Vegan b5.1). This tablet just gets better and better!
Swyped from my VEGAn-TAB-v1.0.0B5.1

If you want to send me your build.prop i'll integrate it into a zip and stick it in the OP.
Thanks for the Fix
Map Fix worked with VEGAn,
Thank you!
Edit:
I finally got swype to work on my Gtab, so this with the maps fix is awesome!
Thank you Jwischka!

I'm booting up the tablet in order to extract my build.prop right now. Hopefully I can attach it to a PM and send it right to you.
