Two questions. - G Tablet General

I installed swiftkey keyboard, and cant get it to work. How can I get it working?
Also, if I download titanium backup, can I remove some of the blot apps, like
Some of the google apps I'm not using, or say the grocery list app??
Thanks

Also I notice the new maps does not have the 3D feature, why is that?

anyone know/>?

You took the time to tell him to search, but it would've been decent to just give him a link.
I'm using the same Tom, I've searched, and haven't found the answer either

Hopefully someone can answer......

Already gave him links in another thread. As he kept asking questions I though that learning to search for his answers may be of benefit since each question in this thread has been answered many times.

I did see something about the keyboard, but not about the maps or deleting
apps that are considered blot, or that you don't use.

For use a non-stock keyboard on TNT/TNT lite, you have to do more than just installing the APK.
Search in the themes area for 'keyboard' or 'alternate keyboard', and you'll find several threads about doing that. You're going to need root for this (since you asked before ).
I'm not sure about removing apps.

I found the threads, but I do not understand what I need to use to move the keyboard apps or even how to....

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10567745&postcount=2
This is actually a post of Jim's in another thread. These are the instructions I followed and it worked great for me. (I need to thank-button him for that.)
I like Swiftkey for my phone, but for the tablet, I'm really liking Thumb Keyboard, so maybe check that out.
Two things...first, a real effort with search would have turned up your answer for you...second, "Two questions" is not a very good title for your thread--not descriptive at all. A lousy title is really going to cut down on the number of people who are going to read a post...that's why you will go a long time before getting a decent response.
I don't know about the extra apps. I wouldn't go ripping stuff out without a firm understanding about how different apps--especially system apps--relate to the running of the OS. I can't guide you on that except to say that there's plenty of room on the gTab. That little extra space isn't worth the risk of borking your tablet, in my opinion.

Vodafone Donut - Is there a method to root the latest Oct 2009 1.6 release?

I've been using various Cyanogen and Hero ROMs since June and have now reverted back to the stock Vodafone UK ROM. In general the stock stuff is fine, it's quick and bluetooth audio works for phone and media. I need root access though to use Bluex for bluetooth file send/receive and pushing the HTC_IME keyboard
What I'd like to know is does anyone know how to root the new Donut release?
I've tried the Haykuro's rootmesigned but get a FC and constant reboot...it was worth a try
there is already a full solution for you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=565929
I used it on mine and works perfectly, no flaws. Install that and you are done.
yeah there is a way. but im not going to answer because this is in the wrong section. read the stickies up top, search around, then post in the right section and maybe you will get more answers.

Aw gee thanks...NOT
If you don't have anything contructive to add then don't.
I spent hours searching and read through countless threads. For your info I have been installing ROMS since they came out in May (before the Wiki was in place), have contributed and would you believe it I have even been thanked for my help, I am comfortable with using ADB, Fastboot etc, am familiar with linux and have read the stickies.
Is asking about a rooted ROM not developement? Have YOU read the stickies because from what I have read, surprise surprise, in this section there is a sticky up above here about hacking and rooting. As far as I'm aware any developement focused questions would be posted in the developement section not general.
If I'm wrong them I'm quite happy to follow the MODS rules and their directions.
Are you going to repeat your post with questions about OTA updates being in the wrong section too?
P.S. the very helpful 'htcmagic' had already spoiled it for you
@BigRD: no problem mate, glad i could help. I installed the rom above and i am extremely happy with it. I have also installed busybox on it too.
Its much faster that vodafones original.
Hey mate, try Amon_Ra's Donut Rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538645
Very fast and stable with Root and others. I'm using it on my vodafone magic. Works really nice.
Or alternatively just go back to Cyanogen. Its Donut and it has more features than any other rom on this site so...its all up to you
@widezu69 & @htcmagic Cool, thanks guys.
I spent a lot of time with Cyanogen's ROMs up until the Google thing happened and was running eViL's Hero ROMs up to v3.0. I wanted to get back to a smoothish stock ROM issued by my network supplier but rooted by one of the great developers on XDA. I keep finding that other than the Vodafone original and the Google ION ROM bluetooth audio for phone and multi media working at the same time is very hit or miss. Am going to give both versions posted here a try over the next few days
Another one who wants a Rooted Vodafone Donut
I am also searching for a method to root a stock Vodafone Magic 32B that has had an OTA Donut update.
The answers on the thread so far involve flashing a new Donut Rom - my issue is that I have Donut already, and have never rooted - I am assuming the Root instructions included in the Wiki and Relentless Rooter are only aimed at Cupcake.....or am I wrong?
Any help/advice appreciated....
rooting the magic 1.6
Hi folks, dito as above. I've been up half the night trying to work this out. Have recently bought an htc magic from vodafone, and been 'updated' to doughnut 1.6. Not bad, but I'm really keen to get root on this, and eventually install the latest rom from cyanogen...
Seems there are now a few issues for people like me wanting to root their handsets... so far I've managed to erase my user settings, but keep getting errors trying to flash a rom. Followed the link above to nk02's thread, and no luck. Same issue, update aborts. There must be an easier way...
nk02 says his ROM works with 'wipe + flash'. How the heck do I do that? Seems this latest update to 1.6 has made all the other methods of gaining root obsolete... I'm far from a linux novice, and would love some advice here. And please don't tell me to keep searching, solid help would be appreciated. Cheers.

upgrade a Kernel HTC Magic version to a HERO Rom?? Is it possible??? Plz Help!!

INFO:
Model number: HTC Magic
Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 62.52S.20.18U_3.22.20.17
Kernel version: 2.6.27-dd63d1eb u70000
Build number: 2.16.401.5 146733 CL#33743 release-keys
Now my deal is...I see everyone talks about upgrading Rogers versions...but Kernel versions like mine, I couldn´t find any info..., so I would like your help on this...Please!!!
ROFL!
The kernel is a part of the OS, not a carrier!
If you want to use CursorSense (enhanced rogers update) just visit that thread and you'll find all the info you need.
First off you need a few things. A good recovery, possibly a new SPL and the ROM you want to try. Do some reading on any of the posts in the forum that have hero in the title, cursorsense is an option also. find one you are interested in, and then check the requirements. Some require more work than others (cursorsense) but if you really like Sense it could be worth it. I personally hate it but there are lots of options and all offer a little something different.

Alan, appreciate what u'r doing but it would be nice to know some more details What radio is it?
I fear your hard work goes a little bit to waste when not providing enough info on the work you did.
This is for the old radio (3.22) as stated in the OP post title.
I think all CM kernels are for old radio.
flash 10.1 is working?

[Q] Factory Reset Data?

I bought my g tablet in late November and as a newbie I managed to get it to the point that it ran flash, played angry birds and had the Google market from the great help I found on these threads. I ran out of free time to tweak it and muddle through the technical speak in the threads so now I am unsure if I can update the TnT version or if I should factory reset and follow one of the great newbie threads on this site to update since I can't remember exactly what I did to get where I am with it. Please be gentle- I know I'm a spaz and should have paid more attention to the steps I took originally.

Ok u r running the latest stock version. A new version 3991 is in testing now and may be out soon. A major change with many of the changes in roebeets enhancement pack. I would just wait a few days.
Ok- Thanks so much for your help!
brandyc,
I agree. If your time and memory are limited -- and your G-Tablet is working well -- leave well enough alone.
All the current ROMs have their unique features, but in the end there is getting to be less and less difference in the alternate ROMs and stock. It's fun to play, but not necessary!
I have two tablets -- one on TNT Lite 5.0.1 and one stock 3991. Both work great!
