I've been looking at the Inspire 4g to upgrade to from my HTC Touch Pro. I was wondering if anyone knew if I would be able to upgrade on their website (wireless.att.com) and keep my unlimited data plan, which they don't offer anymore.

Good Luck, you may have to fight to get grandfather in with the AT&T unlimited data they really don't want unlimited data with 4G devices. Or you can wait it out, I was told by and AT&T rep that there is an unlimited data plan in the works to compete with Verizon and Sprint but don't hold your breath, AT&T is to greedy for that.

Basically, you just cant make any changes to your data plan (but why would you want to if you're already unlimited?). Also, if they screw up and take it off, you'll have to be connected to a special section of customer service to fix it. No one else in the whole company has the option to add it on their terminal.

I have unlimited 4g data plan I came from an iPhone 4 with unlimited I have a premier account not sure If that has anything to do with it but I walked in dude gave me a new sin showed me the screen and selected unlimited 4G plan same cost as the one I had with iPhone 29.99

I have an iPhone 4 that i sometimes sim swap with my Inspire (Inspire is being used on Tmobile) and my Unlimited iPhone web worked perfectly, but I did getting an email about "hey we notice your using a 4g device" I only did it for a day, while I was unlocking the Inspire, so Idk, it worked perfect, I was even using an iphone 4 micro sim.
I wish i had unlimited 4G
If you upgrade online you will lose the data plan. Call in or go to the store. Also whoever said that att is gonna bring back unlim data is full of it. I work for them. They are trying to get everyone on a 200mb, 2gb or 4gb data plan

Just wondering why would you want the inspire its getting kinda outdated with all of these dual core phones. Yes the inspire is a good phone but i would rather wait for the gs2 or get an atrix. ( my brothers stock atrix with gingerbread felt alot faster than my cm7 inspire). Also with the motorola photon that came out, i bet alot of things will be ported over from that too. Just my opinion.

Hey guys thanks in advance for all your help,
Currently i'm rocking a Atrix 4G which I love. Great screen camera, Dual core etc. and it's rooted. With the rumors of Unlimited LTE ending on July 7th I don't want to miss another unlimited data bandwagon as I tether quite a bit.
What i'm wondering is should I do it. Selling my Atrix for the Droid Charge in order to have the Unlimited LTE. I love having my Atrix and will the Charge live up to it? You guys wiill know best so thanks a bunch
Ps. Whats the chance the Droid Bionic will launch with a special "Unlimited Data" promotion?
Till next time
Bionic won't come till august sorry to pop people's bubbles. You won't be able to get unlimited data. They used these phones as a way to get us used to 4g so we would upgrade to new dual core phones that use lte. Either we get a new non unlimited plan or pay retail price.

It depends on how you use your phone. If you do a lot of multimedia related or processor intensive or huge multi-app (multi-threading) then the dual-core will definitely make a difference (stick with Atrix or wait), but if its just normal phone related stuff then the charge will be more than sufficient.
The only thing you need to be prepared for is that if you get the Charge, you will have to root and clean/flash it. The way it comes from Verizon it just plain sucks...but once you do get a different kernel and possibly ROM it will fly!
Cheers!
P.S. Verizon's LTE network is mcuh faster and has far better ping times than AT&T
Coming from an Atrix to a Charge I have no regrets about making the switch. Even though the Charge has only a single core it is still has one of the best single core chipsets found in mobile devices. For me Lte speeds are much more of a sell then a slightly faster phone. I though it was going to be rough going from a dual core phone back to a single core but it really was not too bad.

Heres what i'm thinking
If Unlimited LTE really does end i'll buy the Charge off contract before the Unlimited Data ends. I'm hoping that some of these leaks are actually true about the Droid Bionic and it might come out the July 4th weekend and I can snatch that. Along with the extension of free mobile hotspot this seems somewhat feasible
If not i'll buy the charge and wait out for a better dual core phone, but at that point at least we'll have the unlimited data plan. vs the tiered...$80/10gb thats just theft
As of right now, after 7/7/11 you will be able to upgrade your device and keep your unlimited plan.

I am not sure that would work... Im I don't know about others, and but when I picked up my charge they actually changed my data plan, and an I am not sure if that would let you keep unlimited. This is just conjecture based on how mobile companies work, so take it with a grain of salt.

I meant they actually have a listed 4g plan thats different than 3g. Thats why im not sure if thats the same as upgrading to another phone using the same radio... Ie if you change, them moving you from unlimited 3g to limited 4g

Read the link I posted earlier. It explains EVERYTHING leaving absolutley no room for speculation.
There is no such thing as 3g or 4g data plans. DATA plan is a DATA plan. Which means UPGRADING to a 4g phone (now or after 7/7/11) does NOT change your plan in anyway, in regards to pricing or amount of data they allow you..... For now. If your a new customer, or add a new line AFTER 7/7/11, then you're screwed.
Read the link. You guys are making this WAY more complicated than it is.

Was your 4g on? Her mytouch 3g doesn't utilize the spectrum T-Mobile puts out the same way that your sensation would. And even if you're in a bad 4g area or non existent area they make you pay the 4g cost regardless. It happens on Sprint as well.

Bull!
Call loyalty and tell them to fix it! I pay $20 a month for preferred android, and I get 4G speeds. (At least when I am in Dallas, cause we don't do 4G in west texas) They are just trying to squeeze more $$ out of you.

More details? What did they put you on? I work for T-Mobile and unless you had the really old 25 dollar android data and they added the old(but newer then the old 25) 30 dollar 5 gig internet, we don't have any 5 dollar add on for 4G. What they should have done was upgraded your plan to the new stuff where you have a choice of the $10 200mb $20 2gig or $30 5gig. The older rate plans are only capable of having the $30 web added in store. If you call care though you can get the $20 preferred plan, stores can't add that.
What I would say is instead of complaining on here about pay $5 extra, call care and make sure you are on the best plan for you. Reps at store level tend to not even pitch the idea of changing rate plans to customers and just tack on whatever feature Watson tells us to. You're probably paying more then you should be due to your own and your reps negligence. It's funny because as a rep I make much more money by saving my customers money with putting them on new plans, I don't know why so few reps just tack on the stuff and send the customer on their way. Call care, I am SURE they can get you a better deal.
Ok. I will do that. Thanks

Let me know what they had you on and switch you too. You'd be surprised what they may have now. Its funny people think that their unlimited loyalty plans and what not are so good but the new plans are much better. Reps tend to just agree with the people when they think they have a good plan because convincing them otherwise tends to be to troublesome. Or you just get get a lazy rep, sadly nine times out of ten when it comes to upgrades the customer has to tell the rep what they want. Where as with new activation its all about the rep trying to sell the customer. T-Mobile changed the commission on upgrades to try and fix this issue, and its worked on me. I make much more money now but my coworkers complain, its funny lol.

I got sick and tire of getting throttle 2 week's into my billing cycle for the pass 3 month. Does at&t actually think they could with out pissing people off. At 2gb is extremely low and is the reason why I sold my skyrocket and left to Verizon. Anyways I pick up the 10gb for $50 that's more than enough for me. Is a extra $20 well worth it.

Depends what plan you get. At&t gives you a chance to go less on plans options, like less text for cheaper. But if you like me who needs unlimited text and so on Verizon monthly bill will cost the same. At&t data plans are unattractive right now, it's the reason why I left plus the throttling issue.

6 lines, 5 of which are phones, 1 pc ... when compared to swapping over to verizon, feature for feature, it would be almost $200 more
no matter how I look at it, the cheapest route would be to just change my data plan. I am the only one out of the 5 that uses 5+ Gb of data, though my wife is catching up
regardless...I finally found a radio/rom combo that allows the APN trick to work for me...so I am getting HSPA+ speeds now even though throttled

Why do people always say that? It's not true. Verizon's prices are almost identical to AT&T's.
Sure the amount of data might be different on the data plans by a little bit, and the only thing AT&T has that Verizon doesn't is free mobile to mobile talking which is included with the unlimited texts.
I work for AT&T and have a Verizon phone for personal use. When customers come in to switch from Verizon to AT&T cause they say Verizon is way more expensive makes me laugh cause I know they are idiots that can't add.
current plans, oranges to oranges you are correct...
however...those of us that have been with att for a while are paying lower prices...so I guess we are not really making a fair comparison considering that.

When I priced it out VZW was slightly more expensive (a month or two ago) for my two lines. Not enough to warrant the change, but after factoring in the unlimited mobile to mobile and far faster 3g, att was a no brainier. Of course when I was looking to switch carriers (sprint kicked me off, lol) vzw wasn't offering the double data..bastards! The phone was also a consideration for me, I really wanted the Nexus, but just couldn't do it even though I love the speed of the camera.

I have an interesting decision to make. Sprint is cancelling my account because I overran my roaming minutes for several months, apparently since I started a new job in a low coverage area. I tried explaining that I received no warning about it while the heavy usage was occurring, and that I could easily change the settings on my phone to limit roaming data usage, but apparently the decision is final. They were nice enough to offer waiving the ETF, but the rep said that the only way I could continue using Sprint was if I started a new account. For better or worse, I'm not under contract come Nov. 1.
Now here's what I'm pondering. I really like Sprint's value with unlimited data at a low price, and I don't really mind their low speed connection and OK coverage, so I did consider just restarting a new account. But Verizon is enticing me with better coverage and LTE. On top of that, I own a Photon 4G, one of the phones that qualify for Motorola's $100 upgrade rebate, which I could use to get what is now a very seductive Razr Maxx HD. The only thing stopping me is the cost of Verizon data plans. But I really haven't decided yet.
What should I do? Is there a way for a cheapskate to reconcile with Verizon? Is Sprint's service worth the squeeze?
Verizon all the way... Cost of data plans are worth it considering level of service and device selection is better in my opinion. Sprint will end unlimited soon anyways just like everyone else.

I like Verizon coverage, it's the best out of any of the other carriers I have had, but I don't like the fact they kicked the boot loader on my s3 and that they are basically blocking Google wallet.
That being said it's not anything I am leaving them over the coverage is just too good and I have already missed in Google wallet.

Sprint definitely has the slowest data. Verizon is the best carrier all around but for its excellent coverage and speeds you get high prices.
Depends all on what you want, to be honest. Since you pretty much get what you pay for.
