[Q] doe G2 covers fit htc desire z - G2 and Desire Z Accessories

I found somewhere that the T-mobile G2 is a little bit bigger as the the htc desire z, is this treu an is there any problem for the covers? do they fit each other

I have both devices and can't see any difference, size-wise.

Exact same device, exact same hardware. Only difference is the keyboard layout and that one runs sense and the other vanilla *close* android

Exact same phone design, tad bit different hardware. Idk where you heard that man.

I was thinking between a desire z or G2 and googled for comparisons and that 's where I found that. think they said he was a bit wider.

[Q] G2 mod

Would there be any possible way of taking a G2-Desire Z, tearing it apart and fitting its "guts" inside a nexus one housing (without the keyboard of coarse) and/or add a front facing camera to it?
PS: im not crazy =] just think my g2 is kinda big and love the nexus one overall design...

come on xD the size isnt too different, both have a 3.7" screen... it cant be possible that no one else has tried (or wanted to try) to insert preferred hardware into a better looking similar device.

Our phones compared to the LG optimus 2x

What do you guys think about the LG optimus 2x it's doesn't have the build quality quite like our phone but almost every review said it runs blazing fast. Well except for engadget but the reviewer had adavance task killer on.... I think our phone is still be up there with others for a long time before dual core comes technically standard.

Anandtech had some benchmarks and its on par for now, lack of dual core optimizations.
Galaxy S2 (lol), looking forward for.

I don't trust Samsung had a vibrant. Also knowing T-Mobile will water down their other phones like the HTC pyramid since mytouch is their flagship device.
Idk how good LG is but I read a couple reviews said the phone was blazing fast and LG ui isn't in the way. It had nice features like changing the type of font and such.

That may be true my contract is up in may and if it is I will be getting it been waiting for a 4.3 dual core beast from HTC. Even without hspa LG optimus 2x doesn't look bad. HTC pyramid probably have the speeds of the vibrant 4g and and called the mytouch HD. Lets hope T-Mobile gives us straight sense.... doubt it though.

I can't wait until the Optimus 2x becomes available. I love the phone qualities! Its built nice, better camera and higher HD recording (which I care the most about). I'm not a fan of the Sense UI on it but its something I can get use to. Also battery life is suppose to be better. From the phones I saw at CES, T-Mobile only has a few added apps on the phone. Nothing was changed.
As far as the HTC Pyramid goes, we shall see.... I might be buying yet ANOTHER phone in a few more months if its better than the Optimus 2x. Long as T-Mobile doesn't mess it over.
Might wait till quadcore come out cause seems like dual core will be outdated within a year.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
The Optimus 2X seems like it'll be a good phone, but the Pyramid is my current object of desire (pun intended). I just hope that T-Mobile doesn't brand it as a MyTouch phone and keeps the Desire HD-like aesthetics. Don't get me wrong, I love my MT4G. However, its form factor definitely could have been better.
As far as quad-core is concerned, once its released, octo-core will come out a year later. With cell phones, it's a perpetual game of catch-up. Remember the pace of PC technology in the mid-90s? It's deja vu all over again.

In build it feels sturdy. I felt the LG optimus 2x recently very light compared to the mytouch. My g2 is lighter than the mytouch which surprised me since the g2 has a keyboard. I think the g2 is the one that can take the most hits I dropped so many times. Thinking it will snap in two still hasn't. And it's been more that 3 feet I dropped the g2. No scratches or dings yet cause of the zagg full body cover and skin.

The phone is generally built very well. Can never tell what will happen when you drop a phone onto a hard surface. You were just unlucky.

[Q] ***Day Dreaming*** What If HTC Made The G2X?????

If HTC was the manufacturer instead of LG, what changes to the device do you think they would make? Do you think it would make a huge difference?
Doubt it would be stock android and would prolly have a locked bootloader.
Honestly it wouldnt exist because of the Sensation.

when i had the nexus s and went to the mytouch 4g it felt weird having to press physical buttons. i like the capacitive buttons better. no wear ands tear
It would look exactly like every other HTC phone, would be made with metal (I actually like high quality plastic better as it can absorb shock better), and would be running sense. Probably would have a locked bootloader also.
(I have nothing against htc phones, I have one myself, just stating my honest observations)
HTC already manufactured G2 (with keyboard).

First, I'm guessing that LG was looking for a U.S. carrier to sell the O2X and couldn't find one. With the Sensation, SGS2, Bionic and all of their variants coming, the U.S. carriers probably didn't need another high-end dual core phone. Especially from a company new to high-end phones. T-Mobile probably said if you strip out the UI we'd be able to find a place for it in our G-line. I'm sure part of the deal revolved around T-Mobile carrying the G-Slate. I'm also sure that LG would have rather sold the O2X as is rather than having to develop and support another version of s/w.
Carriers don't just randomly pick phones one-by-one across vendors. They sign multi-year commitments worth hundreds of millions of dollars. That's why LG and Motorola find it so difficult to place their phones. LG was vanquished to the low-end and Motorola sold its soul to VZW. Trust me, there's little passion and emotion at the HQ of any carrier when it comes to an individual phone unless said phone can make them lots and lots of money (EG: iPhone). It's all about the Benjamin's.
So if HTC made a dual core successor to the G2 I'm guessing it would be Sensation-like spec wise without Sense. I for one would camp outside a T-Mobile store to get one.
Have u seen all the issues the G2 has!

If HTC made the G2X, they would use:
1) ****ty Speakers like all their phones
2) Bad molding process, creaking here and there
3) Dust under the screen
4) Somewhat not centered Front face camera.
5) Tape, glue, double sided tape here and there to put the phone together.
Sorry i'm done with HTC phones.

Exactly... Other than the hd2s build quality. I hated my htcs.. Hardware issues left and right with them.. Even the n1 used a cheap screen and had mad dust..
I don't know why people complain so much... Build quality is amazing on the g2x, I've had no reboots like others and the bleed issue isn't a issue for me.
Trust me people, there are good ones and I got one... Actually 2 with no issues..
If HTC made the G2x it would have...
A. only came with a 1250 mAh battery (they skimp on battery size BAD).
B. it would have sucked any extended battery you bought for it dry in mere hours.
C. it wouldn't have had a Gorilla Glass screen (HTC uses a glass that they make which is supposed to be as good as GG, but fails miserably).
D. it would have had that same earpiece speaker that every single other HTC device has (don't get me wrong I've always liked HTC designs, and I know they're attempting to BRAND their phones... but it's getting old IMO).
and
E. We wouldn't have vanilla Android (or Google Dark Ale as they like to call it) on our G2x, we'd have Sense UI. And while Sense may well be the best OEM launcher going, I still prefer not to skin Android and just let us choose our own launcher instead. Every skin creates some lag IMO. With my vanilla Android G2x, I've experienced zero lag to date.
And loving it!

Thx someone who knows about phones, I just hope people understand what quality means in a phone and take HTC down the.pedestal.
HTC fanboys seems to worship HTC crap like apple fanboys do.
Please understand a cheap die cast piece of metal along some bad plastic is not quality and certainly WEIGHT /= QUALITY

Love the design. Love how they made the hardware buttons into that thin illuminated stripe. Way better than the 3 large silver buttons they had before. I'm usually an HTC guy, but if this phone comes out at the right time I might pick it up.

Which used GSM Android to buy for max $250

Hi Guys,
Which Android phone would you advice me with a budget of maximum €200 ($250)? I'm willing to buy something used.
Mainly I need good and stable WiFi Tethering (Hotspot, not peer-to-peer access point).
Second thing is the speed - I'm upgrading from a HTC Hero, which even after rooting with VillainROM isn't really the fastest...
HTC Desire? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Edit: sorry wrong section, moved question to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26891627#post26891627
For used phone i think Galaxy S i9000. i have this phone and a very very good device
Thanks for your answer.
Actually, the Galaxy S Advance still fits my budget, so I guess it would be a much better choice than the S i9000?
I'm looking for a 3.7" or 4.0" phone (I'd like it to be usable with one hand) so that leaves me with rather limited choices. I have also found the Xperia Sola, but it seems that it isn't very popular here on xda, and I have read it has browsing problems...
Other than that, the Galaxy Ace 2 seems very interesting.
What would you advice? Or are there any other phones worth considering?
Buy the HTC explorer or Samsung GT-5360 there both good phones.

I used to have a Desire Z (the one with the hardware keyboard) but it started feeling too slow because of lack of sheer CPU horsepower.
I managed to snag a used HTC Sensation 4G for about $250 and I absolutely love it. There are lots of great ICS ROMs for it (outside of any official ICS releases). With newer phones coming out, you should be able to pick up a used one within your budget.
Good luck!
HTC sensations are going for around 250 in my area.

..if you can, go for the HTC Sensation...otherwise Samasung Galaxy S
Thanks so much for the answers
I was looking at these phones, I think I might stretch my budget, but the Sensation is 4.3"... My original goal was to be able to use the phone in one hand, but maybe I'm exaggerating?
Last time I went to a store here I found that the Xperia Sola (3.7") was OK to use with one hand. The Galaxy S Advance (4.0") felt quite large already, but was also possible. There wasn't anything 4.3", but the One X (4.7") felt totally impossible.
If I were to go for the Samsung, is a Galaxy S really preferred over a dual-core 1,0GHz Galaxy S Advance??? Or is it to be expected that there won't be much development for the S Advance?
And about the Sensation - I see there is the Sensation 4G with a 1,2GHz CPU and the XE with a 1,5GHz. I assume the latter would be of preference?
Get the LG g2x

The Sensation XE has a faster CPU (not THAT noticeable) but it does have Beats Audio, which the regular 4G doesn't have.
Of course, if Beats Audio is important to you and you can get a 4G for cheap, do it and just root your device and install a custom ROM onto it. There are lots of them and some of them have Beats built in.

Why?
The folks from the Atrix forum claim that CM9 is usable on daily basis, and the videos of it on youtube look really good (very smooth)
I am actually considering a SGS2 now, because they have dropped in price second hand considerably (I can get a used SGS2 for the price of a new Atrix here), but I'm still not really convinced I'll get used to the size of it...

I've had the atrix and honestly. Idk what the deal is about Motorola but the atrix just isn't smooth. Its not slow, no not at all but I mean it studders on every little action. I don't know how to explain it, its like its not optimized for the hardware.
