[Q] Which lagfix for samsung galaxy s do i download??? - Android Apps and Games

i've found a few lagfix apps to download on the market after i rooted my phone..... which one should i download?
1.galaxy m3 booster
2.voodoo toggle reboot
3.ryanza's oclf
4.tegrak lagfix

none of them.
get darkyys rom
my phone is so smooth and unbelievable fast. have a try!!!

what kind of answer is that?

you should pick a good rom as suggested, but along with a lagfux kernel. I use voodoo as it is the only one available on my phone and its great. head over to the forums for your specific device and ask there.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

I would recommend using supercurios voodoo lagfix if you just look for a plain lagfix. Otherwise use one of the nany custom roms you can find in the rom section.
Good luck

Hmm, sounds like my answer isn't too bad.
I've got the same phone as the OP. My phone runs Darkyy's rom. Well, I actually even don't know, what a "lagfix" does, because there aren't any lags on my phone. So my conclusion was to suggest the OP, that he should get Darkyy's rom, too.
Sorry folks for offtopic...
So hdviggy, what about first reading, thinking, read again, think again and - if necessary - answering then?
At least my answer was some kind of constructive. I guess nobody could say this about yours...

Supercurio's new voodoo builds. It converts the file system to ext4 which the Nexus S uses and comes wit extras such as voodoo sound and color fix which greatly improve you sound quality and image quality.

None install super optimized kernel 4.6.8 or 4.7.2...or go for a new rom insanity 6.0 or 6.1..
Download rom manager from market and apply clockworkmod from app.flash through this
But READ how to flash and restore.

cant decide which rom to try help!!!!!

i just got the captivate i rooted it today im a newbie to all of this so im still unsure of everything im doing i dont care about bricking it. i was reading the "how to load a custom rom" and im at the step where is says (please flash the stock kernel through ODIN first then do our How To Root procedure then come back to this to continue) im unclear about flashing the stock kernal
and what custom rom you guys use and why you like it
Simple, Cognition.. It is all in one package and it is very simple to install but it just seems to work.
Only other ROM I will be going to is cyanogen if and when it is released.
Um and I might be wrong here but I thought Odin was only needed if you had to revert back to a stock ROM before flashing?

Yea I would go cognition. It is what I run.
Very snappy and with the voodoo lagfix it is extremely fast.
I also reccomend the hsupa kernal if you dont use a bluetooth headset.
And 2.1.5 has proved to give me a very decent battery life.
so if i want to try a different rom i have to flashback to the stock att rom then on to the new rom?

The HSUPA Kernel enables HSUPA data speeds on the Captivate, which AT&T has crippled on the phone. It's discussed at length in several posts in the developer section.
From what I have read, one of the bugs in installing it is that you lose Bluetooth, so it would be a non-starter for you.

They say that the OCLF is not good so I would also say that to you. There's no difference with or without that lagfix. It just uses hack or something to make it look faster on the quadrant test or any other benchmarks.

ok thank you for all the responses
I've used oclf on stock 2.2, and I must say the roms here are MUCH better in terms of performance, and they have built in lagfix through CWM.
the O in OCLF should stand for OLD...
all the new kernels/roms support real EXT4 support for user and system areas.
real lagfix..
you are already in the right place to find your next steps...

First, must current lagfixes are not"hacks". They are a method used to change the stock (samsung) file system, rfs, to a faster file system, ext4. By accessing the file system faster, the phones performance is increased.
Second, QUADRANT BENCHMARK IS USELESS FOR A CAPTIVATE. The method of benchmarking does not accurately measure the performance of the Hummingbird processor (exclusive to Captivate). Honestly, I've never heard of a benchmark that CAN accurately measure this processor.
You can install OCLF on your phone, and your benchmark will be around 1800-1900, but it will still be clunky. Install one of the roms here (im running Continuum and love it) and your phone will be much more responsive, but the quadrant score will probably be around 1500 +/-.
In the end, its up to you. Just do more research before you do anything.

It would be safe. Install ext2 tools, then run OCLF.
installed one click about 2 weeks ago from the market on a stock 2.2,fixed the lag for me,then installed bloat freezer for the att apps, noticed better battery life,I'm taking baby steps before i actually flash cognition, lol, but so far so good with ryans 1 click
If you decide to flash a rom later, undo the lagfix AND uninstall ext2 tools first. If you don't, you'll be back here, asking how to unbrick your phone (I've been there).
thanks guys for all the responses..as of right now, im holding on to the lagfix and just cruising with the stock rom..prolly gonna flash cognition tonight, seems like stock battery life is draining to fast!

Thats better since cognition has the voodoo lagfix built into it, oclf was "good" when it first came out but when proper ext4 lagfixes came out oclf became useless.

[Q] What ROM should I choose?

Hi, I know there's no such thing as the "best" ROM, it depends entirely on taste and on what you're expecting. So, I'm searching for a 2.3.4, stable, as fast as possible ROM with no particular tweaks if not for increasing speed and memory...should I simply go with a deodexed stock or is there something better speedwise? Thank you in advance!

I would also like to get this tip...Speed increase and more available memory, maybe some tweaks in the notification bar, but besides that I would like to keep my phone pretty much in stock form.
If speed tweaks are all you want with very high stability, check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065392

Install that with James Bond or Netarchy kernel and you'll have a very fast/stable setup.

Thanks for the tip! That ROM seems to be exactly what I want.
Can I add shortcuts or power controls to the pull down notification bar with a separate app, or should they be cooked to the ROM? If I can could somebody point me to the right directionwhere I could find this kind of separate app? Thanks!
If you want something a little more customized, but still pretty stock, you could try the infin1ty ROM. I've been using it for a while now, it is very quick and very stable. The dev is also very involved and posts regular updates about new features and bug reports.

I don't know much about your ROM, but there was/is an issue where you have to have your volume all the way down before you start a video chat on talk. Some ROMs have it fixed, some don't. Also, some ROMs have an issue where only the back camera works with video chat.
I know most devs are working on incorporating the fix for talk into their ROMs. If it is a deal breaker for you, take a look around at different ROMs, we are very fortunate to have many active and talented devs working on various ROMs.

[Q&A] [ROM] LinuxBozo's Galaxy ROM Hellraiser

Welcome to a new and sick, twisted world
Ever wish you could take one of those nice shiny GalaxyS (i9000) ROMs and flash it to your lovely Infuse? Well now you CAN! Yes, I say GO AHEAD and flash away. With LinuxBozo's magic Hellraiser, you can raise a little hell with any JVQ based i9000 ROM on your Infuse.
How's it work?
Select any JVQ based ROM for the i9000. If you don't know what this is, then this is not for you.
Push your selected ROM to your /sdcard
Download Hellraiser below
Push Hellraiser to your /sdcard
Reboot into Recovery (RED RECOVERY PREFERRED)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Flash your chosen JVQ ROM
Flash Hellraiser immediately after
Reboot and enjoy your JVQ ROM goodness
PLEASE NOTE: I am not responsible if something goes wrong. Seriously. If you don't flash Hellraiser correctly, you can be left with a phone that needs to be returned to stock with Odin or Heimdall. If you don't know how to do this, this is not for you.
FAQ:
Do I need to disable Voodoo Lagfix?
Nope.
Can I flash JVO/JVR/JVP ROMs as well?
You should be able to, but I only tested with JVQ. So you are on your own there.
Can I flash i9000 Kernels with this?
NO
Can I flash other Infuse Kernels, like Infusion to get OC/UV?
YES. Neat, huh?
Can I flash i9000 CM7 or MIUI with this?
NO. This will only work with Samsung based ROMs
Can I flash Samsung based Captivate ROMs as well?
Has been successfully done by at least one person. Make sure you use a Samsung based Gingerbread ROM.
Which ROM do you recommend?
Which one you choose really is a matter of preference. However, I tested with Sensation from Crysis21: http://is.gd/D5LJm6
How does this work behind the scenes? How is this even possible?
What Hellraiser does is flash in appropriate hardware libraries and userspace applications, and the Infuse specific modem (UCKE3) and kernel. This allows the existing i9000 ROM to work on the Infuse all while still thinking it's an i9000, but addressing the Infuse hardware.

What is Hellraiser? Any links?
I figure it allows you to put i9000 roms on it, but only certain kinds?
Does this allow me to put a fully functional GB rom on my Infuse? If so, how's this different than your work with porting over CM7?
Nice to see another dev is using a Q&A thread. stickied.
Hey man, Great Work!
I was wondering, does HellRaiser works with 100% of the Infuse's hardware?
I'm asking because I am aware you've been fixing the Bluetooth/GPS modules to bring that functionality to CM7.
So, is hellraiser a 100% hardware thing or does it have the same issues with bluetooth and voodoo sound driver than the unofficial CM7?
Thanks in advance and apologies if this question has been addressed somewhere else.

There's more detail in development. Read there, ask here.
Define "fully functional"? With the exception of HDMI and data speed issues in some areas, ROMs derived from the Rogers Gingerbread release were fully functional.
Since the low-level video/audio/etc stuff from Hellraiser is derived from that same ROM, the same limitations apply.
But it lets you take any i9000 ROM based on the Samsung Gingerbread release (tested with an XXJVQ-based ROM) and use it on the Infuse.
It will NOT work for getting anything CM7-based from the i9000 to work. CM7 has a very different low-level architecture than Samsung ROMs (which is, for example, why Bluetooth still isn't working in CM7 on the Infuse.)
I'm sure LB will still be working CM7, but every once in a while you need to take a break and do something else. LB, gtg, and Mikey have been working this off and on for a few weeks. CM7 was getting more focus, but there's only so much bashing your head against the CG2900 driver that a man can take before you go do something else for a bit. Hellraiser is the result of LB taking a break from Bluetooth.
It works AMAZING. It opens up a world of i9000 and Captivate roms for us to flash.
So far Blockbuster, Mosaic, and Darky's worked perfect.
Hellraiser
would somebody mind posting the full mediafire link for hellraiser please ... for some reason the is.gd link isn't working for me. Ty.

Yes. It's quite a bit easier to go from Samsung ROM to Samsung ROM than it is switching over to something that's completely open source like CM7. Samsung uses many closed source drivers, which we can drop into other Samsung ROMs based around the original GalaxyS platform, like the i9000 and the Captivate.
Thanks

I was on 2.0.1 through 4... and they just didnt seem to be right.. gtg knows his stuff but until GB is official on our phones this is the next best thing right now. battery life is awesome also, been unplugged since 3am its 1pm now, with calls, bt, wifi im at 75%
Infused is one of the best roms that I've ever used, fast, great battery life. But, I had a Captivate before that. And just seeing those Cappy roms on our big screen is neat. Nothing life-changing, just neat. If you're a tinkerer and enjoy playing around with roms, this is a must.

Example... Does the stock 2.3.4 kernel that most people are on work? - i am going to say no because you say it requies Ext4 and 2.3.4 is not that right?
Ext 4 is really only used on AOSP correct? Cyanogen stuff

Try reading what I said and maybe you'll understand.
Giventhatcm7 is the only thing this will work for i think you need to clearly state this in the title or the first line of the thread.
Unlessi read wrong this is for gingerbread and cm7 is the only rom/kernel to have the requirements he has layed out.
Also, how about adding the correct flashable zip to your first post for those who are not on a cm7 based gingerbread rom.
That way we dont have to fuk our devices by trying manual pishes that dont always work.
Just a suggestionas i would love to have this on the uscc stock 2.3.4 gingerbread since that is all thats available and it seems like the mez is dead on xda

Why do people care about voodoo? It's not "coming" any time soon. The entire idea of voodoo lagfix is to convert the filesystem to ext4 which is faster than the stock format. That makes things run smoother, faster, etc. than stock. Now on gingerbread we have a completely different filesystem called MTD which is even better than ext4; thus if we ever got a voodoo lagfix kernel it would be downgrading our phones.
