Could you please supply us with a link when its done downloading? (Should be in the download folder on sd card I think) This may be the official 2.2 update! (Also, would appreciate it if you could tell us what the update was for after you update successfully by checking settings>about phone and check the system version) And this may be the new 2.2 firmware by Motorola! Also, from what I have seen, 2.2 comes to motorola milestone UK in Q1 of this year, but only UK I think. I am not sure though.
But please do check if it is actually 2.2 and supply us with a link if it is
Edit: If anyone cares, here is the link for when the updates are scheduled : https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades

SHOLS_U2_02.36.0_UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1B806D.0R_PDS003_U SASHLS00RTGB_P026_A019_HWp2a_Service1FF.sbf.gz
In italy we have the 2.38 since september, so dont get too excited, is not froyo

I dont think its the 2.2, that release is already mentioned here under UK service packs.

I'll inform what it was after the update is done. I have no idea about the update since I'm already on 2.1-update1 and MSU only said there is an update available.
Edit: Well.. after downloading it informed that there is no new software available for the device. I have no idea why there was a popup in the notification area saying there was an update available.
And thanks for the link, Sileshn. I'll be more careful the next time so I don't get my hopes up for nothing... still waiting.

You should be able to tell by the download size.

for anyone who doesn't believe : )
It can be that you haven't checked for FOTA / Motorola Software Updater(MSU) for a long time ; )
just for FYI, it's the uk 2.1-update1...
with the annoying alarm bug ( :

SHOLS_U2_02.36.0 is not a 2.2.1 update

we have already that update in greece from summer it just fixes the alarm problem.

G1 (UK) forced RC29

Does the RC29 update work with the UK version?
I think it will, but you shouldnt try it. There is a different version for you (I think its TC5-RC7 if i remember correctly). We need someone to try to "intercept" that one for us now.
Currently running TC5-RC7 112931.
any one else in the UK let me know what they're running?
That is the equiv to the RC29 for US.
I'm on TC5-RC7 112931 as well.
Does the "TC5" part of the version name refer to the SDK used to compile the software?

Hi,
I'm a uk user and my G1 is running on TC5-RC7.
I'm glad i found this thread, i was gonna put RC29 update on my droid via micro SD card.
So does this mean i'm up 2 date with RC7??
T-Mobile & Google are a bit slack really......they should keep us posted in the UK as to what we should be running on our new phones.
Whats the difference between RC7 & RC29 then?
Cheers
DB
What scares me is the RC designation (which in my experience means a release CANDIDATE) and not a full version.
How long till we see a "gold"

Probably not till 2009
It would be very nice to see if we can flash US updates to our UK G1s. Years of experience of living in the UK makes me suspect it won't be long before we stop getting any updates due to general apathy in this country to provide long-term customer service.
re: US updates on UK G1
i have uk g1 running rc30 with root access and its fine. there is mazon mp3 store but unless u have US address u cant buy,(you can preview tracks).
i am hoping that because ive still got root access i could revert back 2 UK updates later.
p.s the rc29 update has code to check the build but if you install rc30 (with hack/root) you dont need to worry as this doesnt. there is a guide on here that helped me ill post link if u need it.( I read lots ov ways but couldnt work it out, this 1 does it from sd card, its v.simple)
hope this helps

Is the SBF available from some to download?

Yes you need to return your defy to UK 2.1 retail. Just a little favor after downloading the update from MSU. Please check the folder and share to us the SBF (or anyone who would update via msu.)
nice to see it finally making an appearance, even though it's retail only - so of course T-Mobile users have to wait even longer.
Personally, I gave up waiting and took the plunge to upgrade to CM7 RC0 - Motorola are just far too slow.
That's excellent news! Can anyone confirm the exact filename of the SBF so that I can download it direct from Motorola's server? It will be in the firmware folder of the Motorola software updater program directory during the download phase.

Eventually got an update down via the motorola update software, copied the .sbf file safely out of the folder and ran through the update. Just as i was in the process of creating a multi-upload account, i noticed something... As my device was bought through t-mobile, the update software decided i needed the 2.51 update (which is what was on it 6 months ago!).
Anyone with a retail version of the defy that can get the .SBF plz?

The file andy managed to download on his t mobile handset was the old eclair released months ago, and is available on the and developers defy page. It is not froyo, as indicated by the 2.51 build number.

Small warning. The swype has shorter list of supported languages, e.g. there's no Polish (was in Eclair). The list of supported languages:
- UK English
- Nederlands
- Francais
- Deutsch
- Italiano
- Espanol

will you be able to get the SBF, thanks
Hi,
I went through the upgrade. I looked for the sbf and it was there. Once I finished the upgrade it had been deleted!!
Anyone doing the upgrade, please grab the sbf file before it competes.
Olly
I downgraded my phone to eclair now firmware version is 2.1 update1 and blur version is 2.21.0 retail en gb why the moto update says there is no updates available, does the kernal version matter for update.
Did you downgrade with the fixed 2.21 sbf plus nandroid method? Im not sure what godegroup version you have on your phone but will it let you install a full 2.51 sbf uk retail?

Hey,
I got the update software from

This was the only way of detecting the update was available. If you go through this route, please search and collect the sbf before the update is confirmed.

Or if anyone can provide the exact name of the file that would help too in being able to download it direct from the rsdsecure.motorola.com site. Maybe using Recuva or some other undelete utility may be able to recover the filename too...

Maybe... But you can try it! Can you get it via OTA? If the answer is yes make it this way... you can abort installation once donwloaded and upload it searching it via Root explorer... Its only an idea..
But... you have 177 version... Its strange that you have an update... you have lastest froyo version...
Check out!
EDIT: Last version is 179...
no I don't have any update via ota, only via motorola software update....can you tell me if I can update with root permission without problem or is better remove them?
yes you can men dont be afraid
I think its MSU update and not rom update

my version and my number build are the same...not sure on the other infos...
so what did it update???
I really don't know unfortunately...seems nothing
Settings->About phone - any details? Kernel version/buid number/etc?
kernel: 2.6.32.9
the other infos in the first post
And your sure its not an msu update?
i lost root on my phone, it can't be a msu update....i don't know is a mistery
it's a repair, not an update, it "fixed" your rooted phone
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
so it detected that I had root and he removed it? I'm right? because when it was searching for updates, it controlled that my phone was under guarantee....thanks I think you have found the right answer, sorry for the inutility of the thread! I was hoping in an official update from motorola but there are no hopes...
sorry for bad english

No software update for my HTC One S...

I have an HTC One S which runs the german T-Mobile stock rom... (No root)
This is the software version:
Android 4.0.3
Software 1.77.111.5
HTC SDK API level 4.11
When I check for updates it says that my phone is already updated...
I had checked T-Mobile website and I saw a post that says that only these versions will get an update: 1.84.531.2 710RD and 1.53.531.16 710RD
But my version is 1.77.111.5... what does it mean? I'm not going to get an update? And what can i do with that...?
Thanks
Hi Ohad (I'm assumed you are Israeli, but I'll talk English anyway )
I have the same problem as you do, and the reason you don't have software update, and your version doesn't exist on T-Mobile's website, is because what you have said: you have German T-Mobile version.
1. The website is for USA version, not all of the countries. The german version is on this website (I assumed you don't know Deutsch (German), so it'll be hard to find the info about the update).
2. The Germany version probably haven't get the update yet. I hope for you (and for me) the update will come soon.
Have a nice day,
Bar
Ok, thanks
Is there any forecast about when it should be released for us?

According to their forum, there is no date for the update. Of course a lot of people are angry over there, so I guess the pressure will do the job.

Are you guys sure it`s made for Germany?
I have the same problem, but mine it`s made for Austria(if I try to open "Installation Mediecenter" it redirects to Play Store to an app by Tmobile Austria).
Can you guys check that?
Thanks!

i heard the update is only available for t-mo US only, not sure for European t-mo
Add me to the list. Im career-unlocked officially, still not update for my in Pakistan. My friend's One X got 4.0.4 a month ago. :S
same here. 4.0.3 was the lastet android version i could get with stockrom in germany.
You could always flash the 1.84 (4.03 Us T-mobile) ruu and update to 2.35 (4.04 Us T-Mobile) Because the hboot matches. Just a thought

Please check software update notes before posting.
One UI 5 has not yet been released for that model, so is there no "slow update" happening. You are already updated to the newest current version. When a new update is released, I'm sure you'll get it

When I said "please check notes", checking does not mean posting here in the thread every single day. It means use Google or other means to find the information on the internet yourself.
The update will likely not be released until next year
