Cant get faster then 1mbps!!

got my infuse about 3 weeks ago..love it for the most part but everytime i do a speedtest on phone, with wifi off, i never get more then 1mbps, i get like .07 and .50 if im lucky...they said that some towers are getting fixed and told me to go into the att store...i ran a speedtest frim store model (not on wifi) and got like a sold 2mbps when my phone was next to it getting .25.......had a 3g sim card so i thought maybe that was it but i swapped for 4g sim card and my results were the same??%
any input would be appreciated! anyone have same problem??

They told me the same thing. They said that the whole state of NJ is having trouble.
Try going to speakeasy.net and try their speedtest. For some reason it seems to work better than the app. I have seen others post this and tried it myself with much faster results.

i tried speakeasy and i got up to .99 but like i said store model got 2 mbps with ease right next to my phone so im gonna go swap out my phone since im still within my 30 days and we'll go from there....

Funny I get somewhere between 2.5 - 4.5 in bay area cali

sucks to be you. i still get up to 14mbit with a drop of no less than 10. and sim cards have nothing to do with it.

I got 9.something mbs when i just got the thing....tested just now, getting 1.1 >_> i think somethings wrong
edit: tested again twice, got 4.5 and then 3.1 mbs...>_> I hope they hurry up and get 4g up and working properly in Houston some time this lifetime.

AT&T's backhaul is overloaded in a lot of areas, NYC is notorious for this.
i.e. your connection to the towers is wicked fast, but the towers' connection to the rest of the world is crap.

Service today was crappier than normal... At points under 1 mbps. Hopefully that means they had a tower down or something to upgrade it to HSPA+. Probably not.

Just upgraded from a tilt 2 to the infuse lastnight r00ted it and added a few apps I just checkd my speed here near Tampa and got 4mbit dn x 1 mbit up.

So Pretty Much Everytime Verizon Opens New 4g LTE Areas, Current 4g Users Go Without?

I've noticed that everytime new service areas are activated, the current users go WITHOUT service for hours. Like today.. I havent had 3g, 4g, but been able to get texts for the better part of an hour...
What's the deal?

There's going to be growing pains with their 4G network. If they decided not to expand until it was 100% operational, we'd still be stuck with 1X nationwide. I still have problems with 3G in certain areas where I lose data consistently. I am sure Verizon has tolerance levels where say 99% uptime is considered "good enough".

No 4G for me in DFW area of Texas. Had it two hours ago but just goes to 1x when I go LTE mode. 3G working fine.

I'm in Washington DC and I had to get on Wifi just to check emails. NO 3g, no 1x, just four bars

I have 4g in Chicago and have all day..

I live in Huntsville, AL, and we are supposed to get 4G on July 21st. I wish they would turn it on early!

in NYC only prob had was that 4G outage a few months back

I'm in DFW. I get 4G fine. If I go to 3G setting I get nothing. Been happening for 2 days and I'm getting frustrated. I even tried flashing radio and rom thinking it was just me because I recently went to CM7.

not even going lie that has happend to me a couple of times and I am on stock...really annoying

Are other users of other 4g phones having issues to does anyone know?

Me too, i live in cullman an travel to decatur alot, an can't wait for them to light it up all the way to hartselle

had a drop of 4g last night, but didn't seem to have any problems today. Living in San Antonio.
but now that I say that, I am getting no signal at all... Just an x on the signal bar, guess I'll reboot.

I lost data the other night for about an hour at around 2am. When it came back on I had 4g for about 30 minutes. Guess they were testing. It's supposed to go live on the 21st in my area, and after that 30 minutes I can't wait. I usually get around 300-600 k down at my house since its down on a hole but I was getting almost 20m down and 16 up when it was working. I can live with the rare outage if the end product is going to be that good.

It literally just started working again. I'm rooted, CM7, MR2 radio.

I've been experiencing data issues for past 2-3 days now. I'll put my screen on and will notice lack of data icon. I'll get it back by turning radio off/on. I'm still running on original root and radio and till now data has been a non-issue. Maybe newest VZ update made some radio changes and old radios now have issues?
If I were to stay with original rooted rom, which radio should I try? I want to jump on CM7 but people still report 4G issues.

Sprint reception getting worse ?

This week my signal in a formerly decent area has become atrocious.
(I'm in Brooklyn NY)

I've seemed to notice that my 3G signal has been dropping to 1G often on my drive home (from Queens NY to Suffolk County)... maybe Sprints doing some work?

Yeah, I'm getting a lot of 1X data on my phone right now....used to be strong 3G....
Could be the ridiculous weather we've got ?

Its a trend. 1-2 years ago I got 1.5-2 Mbps on average since then its been getting progressively worse on any phone I try.

I was having similar issues in Fairfield County. The Guy at the Sprint store told me they were doing a ton of tower work in the area and it has been causing issues. He said it was suppose to be done by the end of April. We will see.

I have been experiencing this with whatever phone I've had (Palm Pre, Epic, Nexus) here. It was just FLAKY with the Pre, but the Epic and Nexus recently my 3G has been the pits. It will show I have full bars and my phone will crawl. Called Sprint and they said there is a "outage" in my area and that they were working on it.
My company gives discounts for people on AT&T, and if this keeps up it might be time for a change...........I hate the idea of having tiered data but what's the point of having unlimited usage that I CAN'T USE?

If you switch, take a look at TMo. They are great here and their pricing/data plans are good.
ATT speeds are good here too, I have them but am grand fathered into unlimited data. Don't know if I'd recommend them to a new customer.

Yeah I'm in NY as well and have been facing atrocious signal issues. Manhattan works fine including some parts of Queens, but once I head out into Long Island, forget about it, I see my bars drop to one, to none, and sometimes 1x.
Sprint is pushing out the update, just confirmed the release date to be the 25th. Hopefully, this will solve the signal issue that so many of us wishes to be finally resolved.

North NJ here and my signal is horrible..... sprint 3g is the worst...i had Verizon b4 i came over to sprint 2 months ago and boy do i regret it...

Same here in Stockton, CA. Been getting weak signal and when I use data it actually looks like my signal drops a bit.
I average speeds of .5 megs. Which is just terrible compared to other carriers.
BTW dont use the speedtest app from the market. Its borked, use a test through the web browser.

thanks....but the problem is T-Mobile is going to get gobbled up by AT&T soon so I'd lose that battle either way......
i also hate AT&T because they are against net neutrality (last time I checked), but that's a whole different subject

I agree... I live in Clifton, NJ and work in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. At work, I no longer get reception at all unless I'm roaming, when last year I had full signal.
At home, I had to get an Airave because I never have more than half my bars, this also used to be full.

i'm not getting reception at all right now and i normally have full bars inside my house.
On top of that when i do get reception, the white bars never turn green so i can't even call my voicemail WTF

Same for me in san. Diego CA. I hope they get this fixed soon. If not they better refund us the amount of money we paid for they're "premium data plan" that we can't even use.

In CT I'm in an area with "Good/Fair" coverage, or whatever. I hardly get enough of a data connection at home to load the facebook app.
The past few days, however, I've seen my phone on 1X a lot, and even no service at all for extended periods. But I'm wondering if it's from Sprint or from the latest nightly I just flashed. >_>

LTE Issues in Los Angeles?

I'm at USC in LA, and since yesterday my phone has been having issues connecting to LTE. I haven't heard any news of outages,though, so I'm wondering if something is borked with my phone. I was on CM7, but I tried going completely back to stock and still no dice. Is anyone else having LTE issues?

haven't heard of anything but gaving the same issues since yesterday. In the Burbank area.

Oh, good — then maybe there's a chance that it's not just my phone. Even 3G sometimes drops out, and nothing comes up for LTE Only except 1X.
Weird that nobody is reporting anything, though.

I think it was an outage because 4G kept flickering all day yesterday and now it seems steadily on today without me changing anything. Thanks for the suggestion though.

there's no LTE yet where i am, but every now and then the 3G will cut in & out for about a day or so(and get stuck at 1X). whenever i call Verizon about it they'll either say there's work being done in my area or an area nearby and just said they could transfer me to a tech to see if there's something on my phone not set correctly or will just give the b.s. "pull your battery for 30 seconds" bit.

I'm at USC as well and didn't notice any issues. I was on MR2.5 and flashed the new 802 radio last night which seems even better connection and speed-wise. What radio are you using?

I'm in West LA, on the latest leak, no issues at all yesterday or today.

Currently running on 1x like a boss. Wait a minute that ain't good 4g down on the east side of the city.

Tampa Florida here and I have 3g but its about the speed of 1x and its not stable. Comes and goes sometimes I get the lame 1x too.

same here, it hit about a hour ago. I been reflashing radios and different roms. I think its due to the new cities being added to the 4g network

3G and LTE is out for me too in LA. I'm using 1.48.00.0726w and 0.01.78.0802w_3

currently only 1x and 3G in Vancouver, WA for the past few hours.

LTE is back up. Not sure how long that will last though

Who else has bad 4g speeds?

I live in a good 4g coverage area, and still sometimes I notice it being really slow. I'll run the speedtest app, and I'll get speeds of 1Mbps or slower. When I power cycle the phone, and re-run the test, it jumps to 9Mbps. And turning airplane mode on and off does not have the same affect.
Is this happening to anyone else? I'm also looking to see if this does happen to others, if they are also having SD card issues, to see if maybe there's a connection.

Having the same problem everywhere on all connections. I have had multiple replacements from VZW but no luck. WiFi is even slow at home which is a 20mbps connection. Should have stuck with my rezound.

Well that's not very reassuring...have you tried any different ROMs or radios?

I only get 10-12 tops. I used to get 40 when i had my TBolt but I guess with a lot more people on the network. It would happen

I'm on AOKP JB Unofficial Buld 1. Best I've got is 25 Mbps Down 17 up. Haven't tried on any other kernel or ROM

I, thankfully, knock on wood, haven't experienced any slow 4G speeds. But oddly my signal bars never jump above 2. Even in areas that are fully 4G supported areas. It occurred in New York City as well which was odd as heck. The download speeds though are like that of someone with better signal strength.
For those who wish to know I am using Cyanogen Mod 10.

My speeds are horrible i downloaded the phone info apk to go back to 3g where it's by far faster. Not sure if it's the phone or the tower being overloaded. Some guys i work with have fast connections where other guys are like me and it crawls, all using different phones. I'm on stock rooted.

Just tested it out again, 17mbit up and 2.87 down...its faster in both up/down than the wifi network i connect to near by.

For those of you having bad 4g speeds, I would suggest trying out different modems. When I was on the release modem, i was getting about 5mb/s, after upgrading to the 'OTA' modem I jumped up to 15mb/s. Not the best speeds, but a definite improvement.
