login password - G Tablet General

How can I set a login password for this tablet ?
I didnt find anything in the settings, or an app that would do that, and I can't just leave it open with personal data like email or calendar accessible to anyone that gets their hands on the tablet..

I think only the VEGAN custom ROM is the only one that has a "lock screen" on this device. Which kind of sucks because I carry far more important info on this GTAB then I do my phone.

[Q] gmail keeps asking for password help!

Please help! A while ago, i was synchronizing my gmail when wp7 asked me to ipdate and reinput my password. But each time i type in the right password, it says that the password is incorrect! Tried deleteting the account on my phone and putting it back again, still the same. On the browser and also on the desktop, i can log on normally using the same password. Please help
That sounds really strange. I've never had any issues with my gmail accounts.
It sounds like a typo, but since you've tried it several times that may not be the case.
Are you sure you didn't mistype the email address instead of the password?
I know that with the software keyboard, I sometimes hit the key next to the one I want to hit. But I'm sure you already tried typing the password slowly and looking at each letter as you type it.
Yes i'm 100% sure i got them all correct. Tried changing and rechanging the password but still nothing. Also, i tried on my wife's iphone, and it worked perfectly. On the wp7, nothing
Is your Server listed as m.google.com?
Also, did you make sure to check "Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection?
Yes and yes, m.google.com and SSL is checked. Even tried turning my phone off but still nothing
Are you actually using a @gmail.com account, or a corporate account through Google?
i'm using a .gmail.com account. it was working before, but now, nada.
Sounds like a bug.
I heard of someone who experienced something similar. They were able to solve it by connecting to a WiFi network and then setting up their gmail account.
I'm not sure why that solved it for them, but maybe it could help you too.
And it just did. I was connected to 3G when it happened. Connected to my home wifi and it finally accepted my password. Again, i connected to 3G just to confirm it and well ut works now. Thanks for all the help guys. Will drop the wp7 guys an email about this
I just ran into the same issue.
I had changed my gmail password via web interface. then the phone asked for the new password but wouldn't accept it.
I ended up deleting the account on the phone, changing the password at gmail (again) to something different, then readded the account to the phone. In that time period though, I logged onto wifi in order to sync faster.
Would have been nice to have seen this thread earlier...
Gmail on Android persistence challenge credentials bug fix
I found this to be a bug with Gmail account log in failures on Andriod when using 2-step verification. It persistently challenges you for credentials although you have successfully logged into your Google account on another machine via a web browser.
This is the fix I found:
Step 1:
Log into your gmail account on another machine using a web browser.
Go to account settings > 2-step verification > authorising sites > application specific password
Step 2:
generate a password called gmail -android but do not click done.
Step 3:
go to device enter your gmail - andriod application specific password and you will get challenged a further 2-3 times enter the same password (you may have to also enter the CAPTCHA (a security image with distorted letters)).
Step 4:
When you are no longer challenged, try to sync with gmail if you do not get a sign-in error on your device then this has worked and be sure to click done in your your google account settings via your browser on the other machine you used.
Hope this helps to those of you who are suffering from this infuriating Google 2-step verification bug.

I had countless issues with my Gmail account on WM6.x - same as you describe. Would not accept my credentials.
The steps described above solved it for me (having to reset using that captcha thing) but it would keep on re-occuring. Not seen it so far in WP7 though. *touch wood*

[Q] Forgot password, yet can't login via Google account?

Hi, I have a Nexus S running 4.0.3 and I have a password (the alphanumeric one) set on it. (someone else set it, it's all a really dumb situation)
I thought that if you couldn't remember your password that you could log in with your main Google credentials, but I see no such option, even after failing the password 70 times!
If I can't do that then how can I get around this password?
Thanks for any help!

It gives you the option to change your password Just click: "Can't access your account?" @ google account sign in via your pc, you'll then be asked to give your e-mail adress & proceed from there!

Ah no, what I meant was there's a password on my phone which I can't remember.
I know my Google password.
You can try Screen Lock Bypass App
I used it on my old phone, worked
havent tried it on nexus s though
works by downloading it from market.android.com
if it works, you can get in to save data/pics and then wipe the phone
it wont recover the pw thought
Never mind, just decided to do a hard reset from recovery. Shame though.

App Lock programs

Does anyone have good success using these types of programs on the TF700 or their phones in general? If so which are you using? I read people reviewing the apps saying they work fantastic but then some post how to get around them or simply uninstalling it will remove the lock. Or they make the device run slower.
A coworker was asking if it's possible to have multiple email accounts in either the google email app or the default stock email client. The answer is yes but it doesn't give the option to password protect or require the account password to access the emails. She has a business one that she would like kept protected in case anyone gets her tablet. As it is anyone who gets your device and gets past a regular screen lock almost has complete access to your google account. The only way to do it is add the account to the device, then go back into settings and remove the account. Thats a bit of a pain for something that should be available as a security feature.
So with these app lock programs the owner could require a password to open a protected application (gmail or email client). It's a matter of how effective the programs are vs how much battery drain or performance hit it causes.
The ASUS "App Locker" app puts a pin password on apps, including system apps such as system settings. Comes with your TF700. I think (but not sure if I remember correctly) setting up my departments TF300's so that users could not access the system settings using App Locker.
Thanks for the info. She has a Levno 7'' tablet thing. I'm constantly telling her how to do this or that on it. Our Tf700 is way more power than she will ever need. I will have to see if her's comes with something like a native app lock.
I'll be checking out the asus lock on mine. Might as well set it up in the event it's ever stolen. I don't use the screen lock. It got annoying to constantly enter a pin/password when I turned my screen on.
Thanks for the reply.

~Please Help~How to bypass lockscreen passcode without wiping data? I am the owner ..

I am the owner of the phone. Have been using it for almost 6 month. I have my face, fingerprint and passcode set on the phone.
last week I got into a big fight with my girlfriend and just don't want her to get into my phone again. So i changed the passcode from the one we both know to a new one..... Since she know all my passcode, I changed it to one that I don't use often...Now I can't remember it...
I have all my google account on the phone and I know all my previous passcode .I also have my fingerprint and face registered.. I already talked to google. They asked me to reset my pixel. I don't want to. There is one chating app ( wechat) that has all my history with my family( parent, sister and newphew) and their photos. I don't want to lose that.....
Please someone help me find a way to bypass the passcode, or let me use the old one... please.
It has been rooted and unlocked bootloader but i have not yet install recovery on it yet
I assume you have rebooted and need to enter a password since it won't accept the fingerprint as the 1st form of authentication? Any chance you have a Titanium backup with data saved offline? You could reset the phone and reinstall apps with data. That should take care of the chatting app.
For that particular app, not yet have titannium backed up offline.... I guess I am screwed.
I think that with Google "find my device" (search it from your browser) you can remotely change the password/pin.
I never did that, but I know that there is an option, you can always give it a try
I tested the find my device thing once. It definitely does ask for your password that is currently on your account.
I tried this option. But since I already had a passcode there, it won't ask for a new code that I just set up...
"If you already have a screen lock, it will be used instead of the password you just set up."

Google password manager asks if it should save PWs although it SHOULD be deactivated?

Hey folks,
so although I deactivated the f***** password manager, it still keeps asking me for EVERY password in EVERY app if I wanted to save it. I can't seem to get rid of this behaviour.
What I tried up to now:
deactivated the PWM via my google account settings on my phone
reactivated and deactivated it again to see if it was just some setting that had gotten stuck
turned the phone off and on again
started chrome -> settings -> password, although I assume this is an app-internal value
opened my phone's account on my pc, altered the value here (I could see both on the PC when I turned the PWM on/off on the phone and vice versa, so the value change works, but google chooses to ignore it)
Is there anything I have overlooked? Is there any additional value that needs changing? Other google services, for example syncing my contacts (at least those that my old phone didn't eff up) worked without any problems.
As another approach to get rid of this sh***y behaviour: is google's password manager a standalone app, can I just uninstall it via ADB?
Dunno if anything of this is important: Phone is a Sony Xperia 10 II, unrooted, three days old.
In case I forgot any useful information, please ask.
Welcome to XDA! Seems like you did everything to turn off the Google account PWM option. It's not a separate Play Store app.
Only thing I can think of is there's a another Play store 3rd party PWM app installed like LastPass or Sony bloatware app, etc...
Thanks mate!
Nope, there is no other password manager installed and I tried my very best to get rid of all the bloatware I could find and thought to be safe to uninstall. Also, the password saving question bears the Google-"G", so it shouldn't be any 3rd party program.
Is there anything else I can do except being frustrated and annoyed? =/
