The OTA update for GRI54 was downloaded by my phone, however because I use Clockwork Recovery the update Google update procedure did not work.
Anyone know where I can manually download to GRI54 update to 2.3.4 (GRI40 isn't working it seems)?
Look in your logcat for download Link and post it here plz.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Oh yes.. please do post the link
Agreed... haven't seen a GRI54 link yet. Need to get that to MoDaCo Paul ASAP (although he's probably busy watching the wedding)
Unfortunately logcat only seems to show messages since last reboot. And I already rebooted in order to try to get the update installed Also I can't get the phone to attempt to download it again.
May be someone else could check before rebooting their phone?
Could you upload the update itself somewhere?
Do you know where on the file system I can find the update?
i would search on root of your sd card (/sdcard mount point) or in download dir on sdcard?
Or you can just search for .zip files on your sd card with weird file names
Oh.. nexus s does not have sdcard (just USB storage) but the mount point is the same /sdcard
Found it
Unfortunately I can't post URLs yet. So take the GRI40 update URL and replace the filename with:
486786a7fd97.signed-soju-GRJ22-from-GRI54.486786a7.zip
Note: I have not tested this update myself yet. Use at your own risk!
As I see only 2.3.3-to-2.3.4 link is known now, look on AndroidCentral:
GRJ22-from-GRI40: http://android.clients.google.com/p...749.signed-soju-GRJ22-from-GRI40.a14a2dd0.zip
Should wait a bit for logcats from other versions.
SanjuroE, where did you find it, aren't there GRJ22-from-GRH78C ?
Downloading... will update you all as soon as I apply this.
Grab it from here
I found it in my /cache directory. My phone was at GRI54 when I bought it, so I don't have any other updates.

Tried to install on my Rogers (Canada) Nexus S that is currently on GRI54 and got a signature failed... any clue why that would be?
your infor is very confusing, your first post say it was download through OTA, then in your other post you say it came with the phone.

You're not installing the right ROM for your phone maybe? You need to install NS4G roms, not NS roms.
Since you have already tried other ROMs too, I guess that Its probably due to wrong Radio.
What is your phone model mentioned under the battery?
Secondly, boot into bootloader mode by pressing volume up and power button, and tell me the Radio version too.

Are you sure that the roms you're trying are for the Nexus S 4G and came from its specific development section? As the previous person mentioned this would be pretty typical if you're installing a wrong rom.

Download factory image "sojus" for your Nexus S 4G (d720)
When you extract the downloaded file, you will see some files. Take out the files starting with "radio".
Once you have that file, comment out here or drop me a PM, I will guide you further :good:

Ok, so i've been trying to sideload 4.4.1 on my nexus 5, i am able to verify they adb can see my device and that i can send the file to it as well.
The problem that I'm coming across is that when the installation process start it then then says:
'e: footer is wrong
e: signature verification failed
installation failed'
if anyone know a fix to this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
Re-download the ota and try again

Idk, I flashed through a custom recovery. You could get a custom recovery image then fastboot boot recovery recovery.img. Where recovery.img is the custom recovery image

are you stock? could be any of the system or configuration files are failing.
just tried that link and no look, still getting the same error.
and yes it is stock.
It should give you an error as to why it's aborting. Post that and we can help.

I could not get my win8.1 pc to see the device in stock recovery (driver issue that I did not feel like dealing with), but it would see it in fastboot. Flashed factory image, TWRP and then the update.
im not really wanting to root my device though.
when i try it again this is what i get not sure if you can tell what the error is.
'now send the package you want to apply
to the device with "dab side load <filename>...
finding update package...
opening update package...
verifying update package...
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
installation aborted.
Anyone got any thoughts?

No thoughts I'm afraid but I'm getting this error too.
Could it be to do with having usb drivers for multiple devices installed on my PC?
hmm.., i don't think it will be drivers as I'm doing this through mac

I think you should be getting the 4.2.2 update OTA soon, or you should have it already. I side loaded mine on a Mac too, but it worked flawlessly.
Do you have android debugging turned on?
Plug it into your computer and a message should come up on your phone, asking it to remember the key or something. Click allow. I don't know if that will make a difference but its worth a try

I'm trying to flash ColorOS on my OPO (I know CyanogenMod's better blah blah but I'm bored) and it flashes fine using fastboot. I am using the file from here.
However, when the phone boots up, it crashes after showing an 'NV partition' error.
How do I resolve this issue?

Thanks for replying buddy I appreciate it
Flashing CM was fine so it seems to be a ColorOS issue. I'll get a screenshot up for you ASAP.
Thanks again

The NV partition invalid error is normal I think. I've read somewhere that it's nothing to worry about.
Anyone try to update the HTC u11 and get there was a corrupted file in the update?
Are you 100% stock?
Any changes you mightve done to the system partition might cause that prompt.
If you're 100 stock and never tried to root the phone or flash something. Then it could truly be a corrupted file somewhere. You might have to run an RUU to get a good system.
Also what update are you trying to do, didn't know there was any updates on any HTC U 11 model???

Yes me too. It says corrupted
If you downloaded over wi-fi then you'll have to redownload it. I recommend using a downloader that supports resume and double check the md5 hash.
If you're trying to open the file with a file browser/rar it will appear corrupt as it is encrypted.
