[How To] Copy Angry Birds from 1 device to other without rooting

I did a search when I got my new Evo 4G and all I found was people saying it wasn't possible and the ones that said it was possible said you had to be rooted. After a little more digging and some trial and error I figured out a way to backup all THREE versions of Angry Birds and then move all progress (including golden eggs) to a new and UNROOTED device for FREE! Here's how I did it. Hope this helps others.
There are free apps in the market that will allow you to backup and move your progress to another device w/o rooting. I wanted to reply because I went through the same thing on my new device and I had three devices actually. I had Angry Birds on my Droid 1 (rooted), Angry Birds Seasons on my tablet (not rooted) and finally Angry Birds Rio on my new Evo 4G which wasn't rooted. If you search the market you will find these three apps to be the best as they backup not only progress but golden eggs and what not and are all free:
angrybirdsbackup
angrybirdsbackup (seasons)
Rio backup
The first two are from the same dev and the third seems to be about the same thing from a different dev. It would be nice if the same dev offered one for all three games or, even better, if that dev would COMBINE them all into a single app *hint hint* that generated separate folders for each game the end users chooses to back up.
Here we go:
1) Install whichever you need on both devices.
2) Complete ONE level on the new device (do NOT skip this step or you won't be able to complete the process successfully) and then create a backup to your device using the app.
3) Install the same app on the old device and create a backup for the same game on the old device. Now you have backups of current progress of the same game on both devices and you need to get the old to the new.
4) Use a file explorer (I like ES File Explorer best out of all of them but some prefer Astro... either will work for this DIY) to locate the folder that was created on the new device which will be named the same as the backup app. Within that folder you will find two files which I think are .bkp or something similar. One is scores and one is something else. You want to delete those two files from the new phone and then copy the same two files from the old phone and place them in the same location on the new phone.
5) Back out, launch the backup app that you installed and select restore.
Done.
You can verify by launching Angry birds to see your progress is all stored on the new device. Making a backup of your Angry Birds games every once in a while and then copying those backups to a PC or external storage device isn't a bad idea if you're serious about Angry Birds.
I see this question asked often but rarely see an answer nor have I seen a step by step on how to complete it even if you're able to stumble upon one of these apps since they don't include instructions.
Excellent guide. I will feature this on the Portal.

No idea what that means but I'm honored none-the-less.
Nice work!
Nice write up and i think this is fantastic info.... Just curious though, doesn't titanium backup do this too?
I ran into an issue 1 time where my games did not get saved through titanium (well they were save i just couldn't restore) but it was because of the way the ROM implemented A2SD. Once i moved the games off the SD, i have never had an issue.

Titanium backup wil as long as your rooted. That's why this is a how to on how to backup Angry Birds w/o having root access.

Just means that at midnight eastern time, your guide will be featured on the XDA main page. Great guide, once again.
nice work!!
And I wonder if the Evo 4G couldn't get rooted yet or you just don't want to root it ???

Like you said, there are issues with titanium backup. Backup-Restore across different roms and versions also might cause hick ups.
Thank you for this guide
This was awesome info. You know, originally I rooted my DHD only to get backups from Angry Birds. Now of course I'm flashing nightly CM builds, radios etc. just for the bonus.
I will definitely use this guide to back up my wifes non-rooted Angry Birds progress.

Well now I'm for SURE honored. Glad I was able to type up something that can benefit others. I too have been in the spot of wishing there was an easy to follow tutorial on something from time to time so if I can help someone else out and pay it forward then all the better.

No, the Evo 4G can most certainly be rooted and I have since rooted mine as well as my wife's Evo 4G. At the time I wasn't planning on rooting and figured there HAD to be a way to backup or move w/o rooting and there wasn't much information available at all. Just a lot of threads telling people to root or play them all again which really isn't a good solution for everyone IMO. I have had a few hiccups from time to time w/Titanium Backup across platforms or ROMs so it's nice to have something that you can do separate that will translate over various devices or ROMs since the actual app handles the backup and recovery.
wish i knew about this a few days ago. girlfriend got mad after i rooted her thunderbolt, and she lost her game progress. i tried backing up the app, and afterward reinstalled, but lost all progress.

Haha... I know exactly what you're talking about. This was the exact reason I wanted to avoid rooting my Evo once we got new phones. Since I've rooted this last weekend I've flashed countless ROMs, Themes and other various items and it has absorbed SO much of my time. Once that root bug bites...

Thanks for the guide on how to do this w/o root. i wanted to transfer my game onto a buddy's device.
i would like to add that you can use dropbox to save your back up's to a cloud service, so you dont have to connect so many devices to a computer or swap SD cars. Dropbox is free and they have an app to make life a breeze. link below,

You still sleeping on the couch for that one?
Yeah, once you root that info is lost unless you backed it up to the SD card which is what this walks you through and what Titanium backup can do with a rooted device. If you are going to root a device you've already been using I highly suggest using a temp root to create a backup first and will create a how to shortly.

Another great tip. I used DropBox to share files with some friends across the country when it first came out and had heard it was available for mobile devices, I just hadn't looked any further into it. Recently I had been thinking about how handy that would be as many different devices as I use to be able to share files and what not between them. I may just have to bite the bullet and start running it again. I bet it will make life easier.
or you could not waste your time with such a game

the app is easy to use. only thing i wish it did was sync the folders (like how it does on a pc) instead of have to upload them with the app. this way I get to share music and photos with my friends in Afghanistan.

[Q] Paradise Island friend lost after TB restore

Hi,
When I do a full wipe, install a new custom rom and do a TB backup of the game Paradise Island, I loose all of my friends (after adding a new friend) and have to choose a new name...
However, my island is still there.
I thought a TB restore set everyting back, but is seems it doesn't...
Does somebody knows how to fix this?
Grtz,
Frank

Work around for gamecih cheats on ics

Hi,
This is for Real Football on Transformer tf101 with ICS, it may work with other games too. Prior to this work around, I had issues of getting stuck at my second search giving zero results.
If you want to have the coins and cash cheat for real football on asus transformer tf101 with ICS you can do so by first downgrading to honeycomb (I used Gnufabio's 3.11 rom) follow the steps in this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3bHin4mYHA
After you have got it all set up, play another game make a purchase save the game and exit. Then get Titanium backup from the market if you don't have it (you have to be rooted) backup real football and gameCIH (I use GameCIH 3.0). Then go ahead and upgrade back to ICS (I use stock) and restore backup using Titanium backup pro.
Hope it works for you. I was having issues with crashes when doing stamina hack so I just did the coins and cash hack and purchase stamina from the in app shop.
I hope this is helpful to someone out there.
Enjoy!

[Q] Tiny Station savegames

Hi fellow XDA's,
My girlfriends plays a lot of Tiny Station on my GNex, but every time i wipe my device, for installing new ROMs, it takes the save game with it in the fall.
I backup every app I have, including it's data and so on (I've tried with both TWRP and TB), but this games progress is still deleted, and my girlfriend needs to start over.
As far as I've noticed, this is the only game, where I loose the progress
I've put of flashing a new ROM for a while now, for the sake of this game, but I really want to flash the new AOPK ROM.
I've e-mailed the developer a couple of times, but they do not respond at all.
TL;DR: Can anybody help me figure out, where Tiny Station saves its progress?

Backing up and restoring game and save file with Helium, Contra Evolution

Ok, so I'm having this problem with this specific game, Contra Evolution. So far I've tried methods on the following threads:
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2324232
And no luck so far.
I've been able to make the backup of Contra Evolution and restore it from one smartphone to the other, however, with any of the solutions tried, every time I open the game, I start as if I had just installed the game on a new phone, that is, lvl 1, no super weapons, arcade game mode not finished, etc. Titanium backup is not an option, since both phones are unrooted due to trying to keep warranty.
Is there another way to transfer what I've done on this game (Helium or no Helium) from one smartphone to another? It's over 100 hours put on to this game and really the only reason Why I haven't sold the phone, which is what I want to do.
Phones are:
- LG G3 D855
- Motorola Moto G LTE XT 1040
Thanks in advance for any help granted.
Cheers.
