As per the article, that 11% is 1/9 phones, and the 1 had all sorts of issues during the upgrade.

Also of note:

I'm happy with my rom's for bow. I'll be getting the motorolla atrix when it drops

WTF? LG is selling P500 - Froyo preinstalled phone...
Why this is not noted here?
Some of the LG phones were updated to Froyo some time ago

I included only phones released by major manufacturers and tied to one of the four main U.S. carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon). As mentioned above, I looked at phones released in 2009 and 2010.

I am not trying to defend AT&T here, but it is worth noting that most of their Android phones were launched in Nov/Dec, giving very little time in 2011 to get an upgrade (it can be argued they should have started at 2.2, but that is Motorola's issue, not AT&T's).
Also worth noting is that AT&T has had android phones for less than 1 year and is just getting "up to speed" on the android platform. The Backflip was upgraded from 1.6 to 2.1 in 2010 (which is as high as Moto supports for the Backflip), and while it doesn't count for the article, it should have given AT&T some experience in how to do android upgrades that will help in the future for other upgrades.
If you look at the Android phones that AT&T sold directly (on their website and in their stores) for more than 2 months (3 - Aria, Backflip, & Captivate) and all upgrades (2.1 & 2.2), AT&T is actually at 33%. Since the author did not count the AT&T Nexus 1 (because it was not sold by AT&T), I do not know why the Dell Streak was included either (since it is also not sold by AT&T). The author also included the Dell Aero, which while announced on AT&T, AFAIK, was never actually sold by AT&T.

Im coming from a HTC Desire Z aka G2, and it got water damage and is toast.
this phone seems like a likely competitor to my savy qwerty texting habits and has all the right features in the right place. 8 mp camera, 720p recording, a good processor and is quad band including 3g? thats awesome!
what are your thoughts on this phone? it is due around end ofsummer, Will it be available for Rogers in Canada? any honest feedback is appreciated, the phone seems awesome but i tend to overlook minimal things.
Whats your thoughts?

and now since the bootloader is apparently going to be shipped unlocked, the modding community would be huge.

Surely that's something you'd need to ask Rogers?

The bootloaders aren't shipped unlocked. But SE will provide you with an unlocking code for free.
The only point to bear in mind is that only handsets that are SIM-unlocked/un-branded can have their bootloaders unlocked. So basically if you purchase directly from a network, you'll be stuck with a locked bootloader (as things stand, obviously someone could work out how to crack it by the time the Pro goes on sale).
As for the modding community being huge, it's pretty quiet for the Arc and the Play at the moment.
The handsets have been rooted a couple of different ways but developing Recovery for them is slow going and there are no custom ROMs yet.
There simply doesn't seem to be much interest from devs.
Personally, It's not my thing, Although nice none the less, One thing I really don't like though is the grid keyboard which I find hard to type on, Might just be me though
Anything under a 4" screen is a non starter for me. Xperia is a nice phone but they are slow and not so much development for it. But then, that's just me
I'd be wary of SE phones. I have an X10 and its a little bit of a let down. SE's custom firmware is sketchy to say the least and there update schedule is terrible. The X10 was SE's first android phone and they seem to be listening and learning from this customer's, hence the X10 2.3 update that was announced recently, but I'd be very wary. Test the phone out at a store of something for a bit and see how you like it. Perhaps SE has really improved with their latest phone.
Lessons have already been learnt with the likes of the Arc and the Play, which would be a much more reasonable basis for any opinion of the Pro as they're essentially all the same handset with subtle tweaks to the hardware.
SE have drastically overhauled their custom UI so that it impacts less on firmware updates and, unlike the X10, have launched their new handsets with the latest version of Android as opposed to being out of date from day one.

Will AT&T ever get this device?

I'm sorry if this has been discussed. Will AT&T ever get this device? If not where is the best place to purchase an unlocked GSM version of it? Thank You!
Pretty sure you could buy the AT&T version from Best Buy for ages now.
*edit* July of last year in fact.

its not that bad of a question. If you live some place where Best Buy isn't or just ignore that inglorious box of blue stained diaper filler you'd not know that the i9020A was available there.
That said, having gone from a Captivate to a Nexus S myself, you might want to sit on your wallet for a bit and wait for the Galaxy Nexus to finally come to AT&T. I made the leap knowing that the captivate and nexus S are more or less the same hardware only because I knew the Galaxy Nexus was going to be uncomfortably large in my hands.
From an Android standpoint, a captivate with Cyanogen or some other AOSP based ROM will work and act like a Nexus S. Only real reason to move is if you want AOSP without having to work for it
The NS was never available at an AT&T store but only at Best Buy. This is why there is no AT&T branding as it really isn't a AT&T "supported" phone.

Specs and Developer ordering info direct from manufacturer
Time to get in on the ground floor!
So what will you do?
Withe the changes to Android L, would you still consider a device such as this?
Looks like an interesting device, but the website mentions it will only be sold to approved companies. Not too much of an issue because I think the Z4 will have pretty much these exact specs. I think that will be the first big brand device with an 810? Rumours say it will be announced early January and available in March.

I'm mostly basing that on this leak: http://www.androidorigin.com/sony-xperia-z4-specs-leak-4gb-ram-z3x-exmor-exclusive/
810, 2560x1440 screen, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage. Not sure on the huge array of sensors but I suppose it will sport most of what the Qualcomm phone does.
Found this little ditty
The first Snapdragon 810 smartphones should make a first appearance during CES 2015, coming from some of the most important manufacturers. To be more specific, the LG G4, HTC One M9 or Samsung Galaxy S6 could use it, the latter being less likely, as Samsung seems to be preferring their home-mad Exynos.

If LG doesnt lock the bootloader again this will be a killer device and i would buy one most definitely.
If they do lock it, another paperweight for many of us

Oooh. I don't know but it looks legit. Though has some errors.
Like a Xperia device with an HTC look?
And it wouldn't be called nexus 4 like you said in the title.
I agree its a head scratcher... Id buy one though ?

Sorry to correct you but the new nexus device could very well be call the nexus 4 2015 but it would more than likely not be made by Sony it would be by Motorola again because each company that google goes with it seems that they let that company make 2 phones then they move on as for it being called the nexus 4 2015 there has been a lot of talk that it will be called the nexus 4 2015 and or the nexus 5 2015 just like the 2 nexus 7s also it would not be coming out until 2016 but that's my though on the date but it could come out this year though not until October or later

Nah i think googles endgame is to cycle through as many quality OEMs as possible, ingraining android and also forcing the companies to perform under its own quality standards. Each company thats made a google device has subsequently reached new heights. Asus and LG are making excellent stuff nowadays. I own a TF701 and its the best 10 inch tablet in existence for me.

Never disagreed that ONE day they may have Sony make it but just not this time around
Prolly not now no...

Good bye LG

First since lg L7 I've been buying all LG phones i was a fan of LG ..but now after G4 and G5 i am going back to samsung or nexus devices .. I had enough of LG no updates i had my last update on November.. No support no bootloader unlock no root .. And a lot of bugs and hardware issues ..after few days of using V10 the volume down button doesn't work .. And even with updates Korea goes first and then Turkia and Poland and it keeps going like that then the last one is international variant so i am sick of waiting for updates and i think theres many other ppl who are selling their LG phones and going back to king of phones samsung and nexus

SHAME ON YOU LG...
Wow I don't get it. I love love love this phone. Great battery life, never any lag, great radios, I even love the second screen - it may be my favorite feature.
But to each his or her own. Good luck with new phone

Interesting considering LG makes the Nexus 5X, Samsung has gone the apple route by making batteries not removable. Not to mention the Qualcomm 820 overheating issues (Samsung S7) causing the cpu to throttle back performance.
To each is own though, I love the second screen, the performance, the removable battery and external memory support.
Have fun with Samsung with their extremely bloated phones and their apple wannabe behavior.
If I wanted an iPhone, I'd buy an iPhone.. Not a Samsung knockoff.
The good thing about this is that there are many new phones on the second hand market plus companies get money for free. And some guys never will be happy and will never find the perfect phone since there are new devices knocking on the door. If you wanna be happy, buy an iPhone. They release phones only once a year so one can be happy for at least one hole year. What's the problem with LG - an Korean company - to first release software in their home market? Also they sell more phones in Korea than in the US.
People like to whine...LG v10 is a fabulous phone. No complaints from this power user!
