Last I saw, we had the tech demo where data and wifi barely worked (and caused kernal panics). That was sometime before christmas. Has there been any progress? I haven't seen those threads getting updated, is there a different thread I should look for?
They aren't updating them as much (if at all anymore). I think because of the "secretive" nature of Cyanogen releases thats why they aren't putting out betas etc. If you follow CMSGSTeam on Twitter they tweet all their commits and such, to help you keep track, at least thats what I've been doing. Fingers crossed it's soon!
Is there even a Galaxy S Captivate Cyanogen version in the works? I got the impression they were not going to get to it for a while with the last release
Follow these guys on twitter:
Or check out their site (I hope this link is ok, if not, I apologize, I did get this link from i9000 dev forum)
Or, their google code page:
Hope that helps...

Hi all, i know this might seem like a total n00b question but i just dont understand - can anyone state the pros and cons of each release?
is any of the releases based on the OTA t-mobile G1 update that was sent a few days ago?
Please don't flame me and give me a clear answer - i'm sure i'm not the only one confused...
Thanks,
E

I'm not certain of the pros and cons of each modded build, but I do know that JF gave help to the dude and Haykuro. JF also posted on his blog that he's definitely working on a modded version of Cupcake.
i know i just saw it - no word on what he's doing though...
HTC has quietly added the 1.5 firmware for the G1 to their firmware page. You can grab it at http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/adp.html
Recently, I’ve been debating with myself if I wanted to tackle making a new “JF” image based on 1.5 when it came out. I really wasn’t looking forward to making a new update. But now that’s its actually here, the “update bug” has bitten again, so I’ll get to work on it this evening!

pmed the guys in charge
hopefully we will soon have answers
i've noticed that alot of ppl went into this thread, plz say that you want to know this as well so that the ppl in charge will see and that it will stay alive!!!
OK so now we have 3 very similar mods based on the same build. Many of them share the same tweaks (apps2sd, multitouch browser, protected apps, etc). Is there a chance for a single unified build? Sorry if this has been asked a million times.
Wow. This didn't take long. . .
Instead of calling it pros and cons, just list the different features of each. What might be a con to you, could be a pro to me, ex: a lot of people here wanted Chinese removed, I wanted to keep them.
Why are we doing this comparing crap again? TRY THE DAMN BUILDS OUT FOR YOURSELF!!!!
Lets get this thread locked please.
hi there chefs,
froyo sdk has just release do you know now if it will be available to our devices???

i know a bit c # and silverlight and im just 15 yrs... im very excited on all those ports, hacks and fixes so i buy a used g1 from ebay..
does anyone have any clues on how to start learning this...
Quick and dirty port coming up. Testing it right now.
btw, I think that the link in Ben's Twitter being a rickroll means just that...
I'd love to see a functional port though.
me too jubeh
This thread is not development related. Do not post such threads in the development thread.
Aside from that, making a ROM from the SDK is not making a ROM but PORTING a ROM and as you have probably noticed from all ported ROMs, it's hard to do and things don't always work well. The best ROMs are going to come when the source code gets dropped.
Why are we not getting official cm7 support along with nighlies? Cm is everywhere and is the best rom. Sure would be nice to see 2.3.1 but offical support would be great.
Didnt see op right away.....edited for good reason

I don't want to be a AH (<-- Since you think we are all one) here, but why are you asking the same thing over and over when you are getting the same answers?
There are only so many times you hit your head on a wall before deciding it hurts like hell and you should stop.
Unless YOU, want to step up and start creating roms, you will have to sit patiently with EVERYONE and wait for it to happen.
I have wasted enough time on this post, a mod should lock it before a flame war starts.
No answers are ever made available just a lot of complaining about asking questions. All the 'great' and 'hardworking' developers are just a few and not really at the caliper of the CM team, so xda for g tablet is no longer a reference. I'm sure there will be plenty more non-answers, that's okay because you little boys and girls continue playing in the sand box.
If you had read around Gojimi is the developer doing the official CM build (Going to merge Vegan with CM) Last I heard he had to order parts to get his development machine up and running. Please try and do some some searching and reading before starting a thread that sounds like whining. If your not happy at the pace things develop go buy an ipad and you wont have to worry about it anymore.

No the problem is you ask questions that have been asked over and over again without looking first and then you insult us by calling us AH's and little boys and girls. If XDA is not a reference for GTab anymore then march your a$$ over to cyanogen and ask for an ETA on cm7. Cyangenmod loves it when people ask for ETA's on their site. Us little boys and girls will stay in our sandbox and enjoy getting the next round of whatever rom we want including cm7. If you don't want to wait then compile your own rom. Otherwise try reading a little before posting your ignorance and maybe you might learn to do something on your own without it being spoon fed to you.
BTW....my cm7 is 2 days old....I compiled it myself from source

Believe it or not, the gTablet has WAY more official support for CM7 than other tablets. And our developers are going out of their way to do what they can. GoJimi has submitted some changes and commits for gTablet code and is waiting on process - which is a good thing.
"Cm is everywhere" - wrong. It's not. It is currently only supported on 13 devices - and doesn't just appear because someone snaps their fingers! It takes someone having a device to test, someone who has the skills or willing to learn, etc.
Maybe you should read what Cyanogen posted about essentially your questions/complaints/whines/whatever. It's found here.
And to that point - there has been some VERY helpful information on how to compile CM7 for the Harmony (gTablet)... the old adage still holds...
"Give a man a fish [CM7 build] and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish [build his own CM7 build for himself] and you feed him for a lifetime."
Go and do thou likewise....

Good thought, but I do not see him doing that as I already mentioned for him to do that, his usefulness is only here to ask questions over and over and call people names.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that an overseas version of the Inspire (Telus/Telstra, was it?) would be getting an official ICS ROM from HTC on or about the 25th. Obviously this is important for us because it would address various hardware issues like the video camera not working for us US users. Wondering if anyone has heard anything yet.
Oh you'll know. There will be about 50 people posting links to the same information all making new threads about it.
they will sound something like this "I heard official ics was just released. How long can we expect to wait for icecold/cyanogen/exists etc etc to update to it!??!
followed by "omg, i cant wait!"
followed by "how long does it really take to put in the new official kernel?"
followed by (Thread closed by Zelendel)
oh and dont forget "i updated to the official, now i lost root"

Well Fosser2 and his gang have finally hashed out a GIT with the source for the 3.1 kernel they are compiling. It is to my displeasure that NVIDIA requests are a complete failure, but because of this amazing open source comunity that we have with Android we are still able to bring our devices around to match that of what we desire out of our tablets. Thank you to their valiant efforts in creating a better user environment and we tip our hats to them. Please be sure to give them a thanks and buy them a beer. Here is the GIT
GIT Source from Fosser2
Old Info -
Directly quoted from Fosser2. I have been checking daily to see when the forums would come back up, and it looks like they have. Please get your petitions over there to get the sources so our g-tabs can be 100% functional (Well as close as you can) =]
Hey guys,
I know you all want the camera working but NVIDIA is really holding back on the information that they are releasing. As you know Notion Ink and the developers who have been working with the Adam tablet have really helped this project along. NI is asking people to post in My Post on the NVIDIA Forums to see if we can get the camera source code and information on the interface the camera runs on. Please take the time to read this Post and register and complain in the NVIDIA forums about the camera. Please try to make your posts sound professional, but we're gonna need some support behind this one if we have any hope on getting the camera active again. Even if NI gets the camera sources and we don't, I'm sure that the work that they finish will be able to be ported to our camera with minimal efforts. Thanks for your time!
You can find my topic over here
please register and keep this post on the top. The more traffic we get there the sooner we will hear back from them.

I see a couple of people who have posted and I thank you all for the help, lets try and keep the forum as the top hit list so MODs will see it and hopefully get a response. If they refuse we will threaten with the better business bureau and I am sure they will listen then.
I know its a pain to have to create another user account, but please the more people they see posting on the nvidia forums the higher chance we have of getting the sources released to the public. Imagine the possibility of the device without poking around blindly at the kernel, but having a complete map available.
I just registered and posted. I really hope someone notices how important this is to us.
Cheveron just said in the Dirty Bean forum on Slatedroid that the camera is already fixed.
This is more than just the Camera though. The Devs are poking blindly without source. The fact they got it working is a miracle, we would rather have the hard solid evidence to make sure we get the most out of the devices with the source from Nvidia.
We tried very hard the first time. They just arent willing to help out. With a middle finger in the air I think all devs who have contibuted their time can walk the streets proud of their accomlishments. Thanks for the hardware Nvidia...screw you for the support.
We don't need anything from NVIDIA; apparently dwagner already got the camera working (for the most part). This is what Ch3vr0n5 said over on Slatedroid. So it's coming, just be patient.
In the future you should consider boycotting NVIDIA; go with Qualcomm or Samsung. They are far more receptive to the community than NVIDIA and will have much better longevity than any NVIDIA products. Yes, the Nexus 7 uses a Tegra III but that doesn't mean much since NVIDIA still doesn't share source with the community. Eventually even the Nexus 7 owners will have a G-Tablet like situation on their hands.
Yes we did get the camera working w/ our own set of code. Not sure when its going to be fully available to the public. Hopefully sooner than later though!
You guys are amazing. Does that mean once you work out the kinks in theory the tab should be 100% functioning?

I wish you luck getting the camera working through your petitions, but this thread needs to be in General so I am moving it now.
Thank you,

Here is the camera source. We're in the middle of porting it to our 3.1 kernel right now.
