I rencently applied alphrev to s-off my desire. (Much love to alpharev, went without a hitch.)
Now when I ran the CD Linux program and was asked if I wanted to apply alpharevs custom recovery I said yes. Now whenever I boot into recovery manually (holding volume down button while power on) I go into alpharevs "blue" recovery. But when I boot into recovery via Rom manager I go into my old Clockworkmod 2.0.7 recovery?
Has anyone else ever had this happen? Is it possible to run two recoveries side by side on one device?

I have just rooted my CDMA Hero and I flashed the Fresh 2.0d ROM using the flash recovery amon RA method. Now when I go to the recovery image(hold home during boot) it is back to HTC's default. Do I need to re-flash the RA recovery image? If so, do I need to use the adb method since flash-rec has been blocked since 1.5?
EDIT:
Question was answered by another post today:
To get to RA after flashing Fresh:
1) Press power while holding down volume.
2) Press Home
htc hero - SPRINT model
I've succesfully "one-click" rooted my phone. (i followed unlockr)
I succesfully dropped the fresh 1.1 "update.zip" file onto my SD card.
I then booted to "Fastboot mode" using the "down-volume + power" method.
I proceed to click "home" for recovery mode.
My phone hits a hiccup and gets stuck at a black screen with the text "htc" logo in the middle of the screen. It does not proceed to screen to allow me to run "update.zip" to flash the new fresh1.1
I don't have a hero, but could that just be the stock recovery screen? You might need to flash a custom recovery for your device.
Well, watching this video (Cant post)youtube.com/watch?v=hdmkTFAG3PM
at time = 4:08 is the exact part where my screen is locked at.
Its not bricked or anything. I can still boot and it runs the original OS (android 1.5)
I just followed your steps and mine sat on the black screen for a few seconds, but then works fine. You did answer a question I had about how to get to RA though, so thanks for that. Did you boot once before trying to go to recovery mode. I know the fresh site says it can take up to 5 min for the first boot.
RA - 1.5.2
Fresh - 2.0d
I waited for approx 4-5 min. Still, it hung at that htc logo screen.
I exactly followed the steps. After I had flashed the recovery image, I immediately proceeded to power down the phone. Then, I pressed downvolume+home, and entered into HBOOT mode. I pressed home for recovery. Still, no luck. I followed these steps exactly, downloaded the exact files, placed exactly on sdcard. Still hangs out that logo screen and does not proceed to the recovery screen.
Before I run the recovery, should I press HOME+POWER and completely wipe/reset my phone? Then I have to take out battery, Press DOWNVOLUME+POWER and enter into recovery mode? (In the instructional video, this is NOT DONE.)

Might I direct you towards a new post?
I did HOME+POWER after flashing the recovery Image (which should take you to the RA recovery. After you whipe and flash your ROM if you do this it will show the HTC screen that just whipes data and you have to follow the method you listed in your post.
These are the exact steps I followed:
1) Use flashRec to back up and flash the recovery image (RA-1.5.2)
2) Reboot HOME+POWER
3) Whipe > Whipe data/factory reset
4) Flash ZIP from sdcard > Select the ROM you want to flash (Fresh 2.0d)
5) Reboot system now (this can take up to 5 min)
6) To flash patch like vanilla lock screen patch boot with VOL DWN+POWER then press HOME to get back to RA.
A few of the above steps within RA require you to press HOME to confirm the action.
As we dont yet have a custom recovery image for the Desire HD like AmonRA or Clockwork Mod, i have added ADB support to the recovery image that is currently used with perma rooting the DHD, it includes support for ADB Shell, Busybox, and mount commands, has SU shell by default and has RW permissions on all mountable partitions.
Requirements;
perma rooted desire with S-OFF HBoot
correct fastboot binary from HERE and adb drivers
Changelog;
V1: Initial Release
-DOWNLOAD
Clockwork MOD Test
Here is a test version of clockwork mod for the Desire HD, it is flashable and includes ADB Shell support, to activate the power button to choose options, you need to scroll through the menu 3 times until you see the message "menu back button enabled", this is due to the clockwork version being designed for devices with a trackball button.
DOWNLOAD
FLASH THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG
How to flash;
Boot phone into bootloader mode (Hold volume down when powering on, or adb shell reboot bootloader)
run from cmd/terminal "fastboot flash recovery adb_recovery.img"

Fantastic! Will flash this tomorrow after some sleep. Can't wait for the custom roms to come flooding in, especially some AOSP.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
nice. flashed and working as should be!
here is a test recovery image for clockwork mod, it is based on the clockwork mod for desire Z/G2, as the Desire HD has no trackball button, if you scroll through the list 3 times until you see the message "menu back button enabled" the power button will become the select button.
THIS VERSION IS ONLY FOR TESTING UNTIL AN OFFICIAL CLOCKWORK MOD IS RELEASED, FLASHING IS NOT RECOMMENDED

Sweet dude, backing up via clockwork now! so at least it runs. I will probably flash back to your ADB recovery though, it got me out of a little schoolboy error I made earlier.
sweet, now time for making roms
good stuff! Backup and restore worked fine
then we just need a flash test of a rom
I'm working on a ROM based on the G2 Rom for a clean android, flashing update zips works. Just not managed to get it booting yet

So there's some positive feedback. Is the Clockword Mod version still not recommended?

this may sound stupid but you do have full root and s-off with the bootloader?
I have s off and custom recovery and root. I can access CWM recovery by powering down and hitting power and volume down, no problem. When I go into Rom Manger and try to backiup it says "Flash Clockworkmode recovery first" when I attempt to flash clockworkmod recovery there is not an option for the Sensation. I take it to mean that the only recovery possible is by powering off the device and holding power and volume down and then proceed from there. Is this because there is not recovery in rom manager out yet for the Sensation? Would choosing another device work, if so which one? Or have I done something wrong? Any and all help and info is greatly appreciated.
I am pretty sure that the reason is that Rom Manager does not recognize the CWM that is now on our Sensations, im sure they will be updating it soon, the same is for SetCpu, it does not know our phones yet, we just got our S-Off and everyone is going crazy for all the bells and whistles but we got to give time to these awesome devs to include support in rom manager and setcpu
Hey all,
Noob here. I'm pretty sure my topic has been asked before but unfortunately, I am lacking in certain terms and I think I'm looking for answers in the wrong place for the past 2 hours.
Anyhow, I have rooted my HTC Evo 3D using step by step instructions laid out by htcevohacks.com. After the rooting, I have flashed the rom Synergy_RLS1-Shooter using CWM. I have since come across a ROM that I'd like to use in replacement but I cannot figure out how to boot back into CWM Recovery. I have tried to launch CWM Recovery from fastboot but when i try to boot up the CWM image, it just waits and waits no thing happens. I've also tried to boot from ROM manager and I have also tried TWRP but the damn phone refuses to boot up in CWM for me to flash the new ROM, Olympus Trinity XE.
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?? I think it has something to do with S-OFF/S-ON but I am an unfortunate noob that does not know the difference and it's killing me....
You can go into the ROM manager app and there is an option to reboot in recovery. Or, since you have an HTC, power the phone down, hold Volume down and power button. This will take you to the Hboot screen where you can select "recovery". Please note that when making selections in Hboot, you use the power button to make your selections.
Edit: Just saw that you tried to boot in from ROM manager. So you will have to go through the Hboot screen.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I have tried using Hboot. I tried using "recovery" as you suggested but all it does is restart the phone. The HTC splash screen pops up, then it blacks out only for it to POP up again, then it loads my ROM splash screen. Also thru Hboot, I tried to connect to a pc and flash cwm and other recover img's but they didnt work either...
