I would not recommend buying a wired car holder altogether.
I used to use several Seidio holders and all of them had bad plug-in connections after some time (usually right after warranty is up).
I really like the Brodit car holders.
Have a look at this ... I have one, and it is excellent.

You can buy it from Expansys in your local store, but the link below is to the Australian version:

I find it really hard to find a holder to suit these phones....
Seidio seem to have gone blackberry only these days although they still cater for older PDA's but to be honest they are over priced for what they are. And yes mine broke just after the warranty.... what a waste of £100 (G2500s converted to stereo output for MDA Compact). I'm thinking of using its case waith a 3 in 1 adapter as the Trin is the same size as teh compact.
The only alternative i have seen upto yet is the this mount (sometime refered as the TomTom Car Mount) http://pdamods.com/products.asp?cat=263
Has anyone purchased one of these ?? Does it have an audio out (stereo), MIC out ? How loud is the speaker ?
Cant seem to find any reviews on it either.....

That would be super Rafiki. If it hasnt got an audio out then it shouldn't be to hard to mod it.

I recieved this one in the weekend and tested it.
http://pdamods.com/products.asp?cat=263
The sound is ok for navigation . A little on the low side.
As a carkit for the telephone...hopeless! THe other party hears an echo and the sound is too low . I tried everything but this cannot be solved. I also get a low level humming from the speaker!
So its back to the drawing board and wait for the other version that I ordered.
Has anyone tried this! I just ordered it this morning.

I modified one of these replacing the internal speaker with an external one (an old car stereo speaker) - it works very well as long as the speaker is kept well away from the mic and with careful control of the volume.
anyone tried this?
http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=9054
I would like to get 1 to try but I can't seem to find 1 that delivers to Australia
I ended up getting a 3 in 1 adapter.
I use the standard Holder that came with the Orange M700.
Connect the 3 in 1 which in turn has:
1: the power to the cigarette socket connected.
2: Tape adapter connected to the 3.5" Jack.
3: HTC earphones connected to the HTS mini USB with the earpeice and cables snipped at the mic.
The mic is then routed through the dash to where ever you need. I have mine in the cockpit display area.
If you dont connect the HTC mic then you wont be heard.
All i do when a call comes through is press the casette button on the stereo (VW Gamma) and answer the call either with the phone or the mic adapter.
Sometimes have to ajust the volume on the stereo as having the stereo too loud will give the caller an echo but you are able to have it loud enough to hear well.
With the 3 in 1 attached the phone still rings on the external speaker aswell as though the adapter.
Would be nice to use some expoy resin to atach the adapter to the holder in some way saving you connecting the plug manually every time you slot the trin in. Might give this a go some time.
Oh and i also use SPB phone suite so i can set a profile for the car which consists of Loud ring + vibrate but a low speaker volume. Having full volume through a tape adapter seems to give a crackly effect.

Sound from ear piece is too distort

Is it just my pro? or are most like that? I just got my pro yesterday, and they ear piece sounds too distort. It sounds like a crappy earpiece, it vibrates and sounds way too fuzzy and buzzy and distorted. Is there any way to fix that? or should I take it back for another pro?
same problem here
My ear piece sounds distorted (muffled), no matter who i call, when i switch to the speaker or put on the headsets that came with the phone it sounds awesome.
i purchased mine through bestbuy and sprint.
i went to bestbuy today to try and exchange it because this is the only problem i have with this phone and the new phone that the CSR took out of a new box had the same problem.
I think this is with all of the sprint htc touch pros, i guess more people should reply to this thread and let us know if they have the same problem of not.
i emailed htc about this and they said to hard reset the phone......why would that fix the problem since i just bought it saturday and i havent put much of anything on it.
ANYONE THAT CAN POST THEIR EXPERIENCE, IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
I went to sprint and I tried out the Diamond, the speaker on it, sounded a bit better than mine. And yes its just the ear piece on the phone, on speaker it sounds normal, and as well with the headset. Unfortunately all best buys around my area are sold out...
Take the plastic cover off the front plate. It is covering the ear piece causing the sound to be muffled.
I purchased two Touch Pro's from best buy...two different stores, and can confirm that the audio is completely different between the two. One is perfect...audio is wayyy better than my previous mogul. My wife's touch pro however sounds aweful, totally distored at every volume level.
Called sprint last night, they said the phone was too new for them to comment and that they haven't recieved any complaints about the issue.
Unfortunately, there are no more touch pro's in denver to exchange with so...I'll have to hold on till the next batch arrives at best buy.
Mine sounds OK at medium volume, but with the volume up all of the way, it sounds terrible! I bought mine at Best Buy (St. Louis) on 10/27
same problem.. have not talked enough yet to really care. just got last night, so i will know in a day or two if i can stand it.
definitley the same experience here, muffled sound from the ear piece and, yes, I did remove the plastic. Almost sounds like a busted speaker sounds. It has been this way from straight out the box (Sunday monring at best buy in IL)
I did apply the audio patch to increase the volume... but it didn't help. It's really tinny at higher volumes. It is actually painful to listen to!
has anyone tried doing a hard reset after encountering this problem?
and if so, did it work or is it the same?
Hard reset has been performed twice, and I still have the problem. I don't think its software related, rather than the speaker itself. It sounds like a very crappy speaker, like a toy. At high pitch noises, it crackles and its horrible. it sounds tinny, like a tin can. Imagine 99 cent ear buds bought at a 99 cent store, and playing something like metallica on them. It sounds horrible.
Unfortunately, I am having the same problem. I removed the plastic cover and it helped a bit, but there is obviously still a problem.
On my old Samsung, I always had the volume level to the earpiece turned all the way down and I could hear all calls perfectly. On the Touch Pro, I have to crank the earpiece as loud as it will go and the voices are still very muffled and sound distant. I do not know if perhaps I got a bad unit, but if I was in a crowded room or driving with the windows down, I would not be able to have a conversation even with the volume at maximum.
This may be a deal breaker.
Can someone please post the info for the registry hack and how it has worked for others?
just went to bestbuy, exchanged my phone, and haleluya, it now sounds like my olg htc mogul and like every phone is suppose to sounds, CRYSTAL CLEAR....
thanks to everyone for the postings....if you have this problem, exchange, do not wait for a firmware upgrade, because this might be the hardware which a FW upgrade cannot fix.
After a week with my phone, they finally got more in stock, went to best buy and exchanged it, now it sounds crystal clear. Exchange it! Problem solved.
But what about the volume, has that been heightened on the two new phones purchased from bestbuy

the volume has not been heightened, now it just sounds clear.
to me the phones earpiece never needed to be louder.
but thats just me
It's definately a hardware issue, I had this issue, exchanged it at BB, and now it's gone. I went from abuild date of 10/14 to 10/15
ruined,
how do you determine the build date? I have the same issue, so guess I will be exchanging mine too, but if there is a way to determine if the new one I get is from a bad batch before I activate it, that would be good.

My earpiece was great till last week!! Now it sounds like it was busted. Vibrates a lot. As HTC doesn't support my country, does anyone knows how to remove the earpiece?

Broke my standard headset, what to buy?

Hey guys I've been searching around and haven't been able to find a lot of info.
I broke the headset that comes with the Desire. Now I want to buy a new headset that's cabled and have the same three buttons as the standard one.
Instead of just buying the stock one again, I hope to find something wtih better sound, does anyone know where to find that?
Regards!
Broke how? Do the controls still work?
accidentially pulled one of the earbuds of, so that I now only have one earbud.
If the controls still work you could solder a standard earphone plug insted of the earbuds, so you could connect any other headphones to it. I'm actually thinking of doing this so I can use the controls both with the headphone that in my car (line in). If you can wait I will do this to mine next week, so I could tell you how it goes.

Do a google search for "diy-merge-original-headset-with-the-headphones-of-your-choice" to find a post on the modaco forums (I can't post the link). This should give you some tips - not great photos, but you can see the general idea. If you go this route it would be great if you could take some photos, especially on how the controls come apart.
Good luck! AD
not really good at solding so I'll rather buy new ones and further the cord out from the unit with the controls, so I don't think it's really difficult for me to do it.
I'm using a sony bluetooth headset with controls (MW600)
Volume sensor is fiddly (I rarely change vol so I dont mind) and it's nice and loud (louder than the stock headset). It pairs beautifully (real quick and easy) and the sound quality is good, I feel it could be slightly better though..
Receiving calls works as you would want, 1 press answer, mic works great, 1 press hang-up and autoswitch back to media.
Over all I'm happy with it
I'm starting to think the stock headset is a very bad design.
The control section with the buttons and mic should have tapered ends where the wires come out so it can't get caught on anything.
I have got mine caught on stuff twice, the second time the wire ripped the pad off the PCB which is no longer serviceable.
I've bought a new headset off ebay, this time Im going to get some black epoxy resin and make a tapered end so it cant get stuck on things.

Correct! That is where I got the idea. But insted of soldering the new headphones to the pcb of the controls I was thinking of cutting the wires of the earbuds and soldering a female connector instead. So I would not need to open the controls/cut my headphones jack and I could use any kind of headphones since swapping would be very easy. Also I would have external controls in my car using the line in.
Do you guys want / need pictures (even though it is only a simple connector)?

[Q] Audio distortion on asus tf300t? (SOLVED!!!)

Anyone else notice distorted audio? It only seems to be on certain lower tones but at any volume. Not a volume is too loud issue just seems the speakers don't like a certain tone. This is my second tf300t, on the first audio was always crisp and clear but it was always freezing so i exchanged it. This one hardly freezes but i notice a crackly hum almost like a vibration of sorts while playing some tones in either music games or movies. Sometimes audio is perfect and sometimes it does that distortion. Almost like a blown speaker. Its weird though because it sounds clear and perfect on some media its only certain tones that obviously not all songs, games, or videos will use. I'm running fully stock no root or unlock .30 firmware updated immediately after unboxing which could be the firmware i guess since the one i returned was .29 firmware and didn't have the issue. I'd appreciate it if someone on .30 would be willing to test and see if you hear it also. A game that does it is Hardwood Spades its free in play store but the music/sound in that game is a good one to test because it seems to use the tone that causes it all the time.
Thank you very much in advance for any help you can provide.
Edit: So no one would offer any help with this however I took it upon myself to figure this out. YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT IT WAS!
OK so I got fed up with lousy sound quality and didn't want to send this out and wait 3 weeks to get it back so I decided to take the back cover off (very easy with plastic spudger) I found that the speaker housing is made up of two pieces of plastic sandwiched together with the speakers mounted in the middle. The weird noise was coming from those pieces of plastic rattling together with lower tones being played. Why you ask? Well it was rattling because, ASUS MISSED A SCREW that holds the housing in place in the tablet. Yeah a screw was missing on one side. So I removed the whole speaker housing and looked underneath then put it back in and took a screw from a non vital area in the tablet and screwed the speakers in all the way and played some different things and guess what no distortion. WTF IS UP WITH QC AT ASUS LATELY!
Anyway thanks for reading :-D
If this post is helpful to you please hit the thanks button. I'd appreciate it.
Wow. That's resourceful. Good to hear that you fixed it.
That screw was intentionally left out to help with the light bleed in that corner. They are all like that.

Microphone not working after repair

I've had my Nexus 5 for over 3 years now and it has seen countless ROMs, Kernels, rooting, all that kind of stuff. I also bought it in white and decided after some time that I want a black one so I bought a frame and a back panel and moved everything over to the new assembly. Shortly, it has seen a lot of mods.
My father used it for some time and one day he droped it and the microphone didn't work anymore in calls.
The problem was simple: in calls or while recording audio on whatsapp and such, the mic didnt work. While playing back the recording, there was a slight noise, just as you would keep the record button pushed but not talk and let it record only background noise. I can't remember, though, if while in call and on speaker the mic worked.
I bought a used flex cable with mic, charging port and everything on it (of which I was told was new), switched the old one with it and while playing back the recorded audio you can hear an awful distortion with slight oscilations as where the words should fit in.
However, the other person can hear me while in call and on speaker, but the sound is very, very bad.
My guess is that the mic on the flex cable that I bought was broken as well.
I thought of going ahead an buying another flex from a more trusted seller, but I'd like to get some advice firstly.
I tried anything that could be done with the software, this clearly is a hardware problem. What do you think I should check? What could be broken besides what i already know?
Thank you and have a lovely day!
I don't know if this will help but this guy seems to have a similar problem you can try his solution.

Hey!
Audio rec and calls use different microphones, however, I believe your problems are due to the connector slot on the PCB itself not due to flex cables. Just visually inspect your flex cables, do you see any strong fold lines or torn sections? If not it is quite unlikely.
Regarding the connector slot, find some repairmen who is able with a heat gun and flux, who can lift things from a pcb without damaging stuff. They can either reposition it or replace it.
Best of luck and I completely share your pain.

Thank you for your answer. I know I'm replying after almost one year, but I have given up fixing the old Nexus. Maybe I will try opening it up again and checking what you said, but I don't think it is worth it anymore. I still power it up from time to time, just for the old days. Heh. ?
