Can anyone test this for me using WP7's web browser? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Focus was just sent in for replacement and I just found out that, for a science course I'm taking this semester, I can use a smartphone's web browser instead of one of those overly expensive 'clickers' they usually force you to buy.
So can anyone go to the link below using the WP7 web browser and follow the instructions on the page?
Here's the test page link: www.rwpoll.com/test.aspx All you have to do is go to the page and follow the instructions. It won't take any longer than 2 minutes. It's from ResponseWare, the company that provides those 'clickers' and it's a test page to see if the web browser is properly displaying all of the info.
If you're suspicious, here's a pic of what the site should look like and you can Google it yourself if you like:
http://i52.tinypic.com/52zvpt.jpg
At the end of the first page you should see a button that says 'Page Appears Correctly' and 'Page Not Appearing Correctly' so click on the one that applies to you. Then there will be this page where it tests if the browser can auto refresh and do other things. After that click on the button that says 'AutoRefresh Supported' and then you should be at the results page. Here's two links to two sample pics of what the page should look like.
http://i54.tinypic.com/2npxef.jpg
http://i56.tinypic.com/16ke3bq.jpg
Then just tell me the results. I know this is inconvenient, but this would be a HUGE help. I'd like to avoid paying $40 just for a dumb piece of plastic when I can pay half price to use it on the phone instead! Thank you in advance if you do this, you're helping out a broke college student!

Told me CSS is not fully supported. Buttons appeared but the text colors were not as they were described (white and green text)

Yeah the text colors didn't work on the Desktop IE, Chrome, or Firefox either so I guess you can ignore that. So you were also able to get to the second page and test the Autorefresh?

Can anyone else try this? nrfitchett4 didn't really say if the test succeeded or not.

Please?! I NEED to know this for sure by tonight!

nrfitchett4 is correct. in windows phone you cannot enable/disable the css file retrieving. so therefore, it should always be there. so "Page Not Appearing Correctly" would be what i would click. the buttons are all gray background with black text.

Yes but I think it may be a problem with their test site. I tried out the site on the desktop IE8, Firefox, and Chrome and neither one gave the correct color scheme. So try using the 'Page Appears Correctly' because I did that and it let me complete the test.

Buttons all looked the same, auto refresh worked, and css passed.

Worked on my HD7 except for the green and white button test...

Internet Explorer

It could just be me, maybe it is ment to look this way, but....
The internet explorer font is really really big. I even set the text size to "smaller". There is also an annoying scroll bar on the right corner that pops up and takes up about a quarter of the screen.
Another glitch is typing in text. For instance when I try to post something on face book you can't see the text your typing until you actually post. Seems to happen if I put in more the 5 or 6 characters.
I'm old and wear glasses but I don't need the view to be this big!
Any ideas? Besides don't use it?
Thanks.
obviously ur talking about the i.e from the newly created Ookba ROM, and i mentioned this bug to Ookba and he said he was going to try and tackle it shortly.
also, have u tried switching from "Desktop View" to "Mobile View" in i.e.?
I found a nice medium with adjusting the zoom with medium fonts.
Yes, I messed with all the settings. mobile view with smaller text, etc etc. no difference. but thanks!
yea the "let me show you where you on the page by taking up 25% of the page itself" is really annoying. Any reg key to disable this page-scrolling popup?

[Q] Android browser with non-scrolling navigation bar...?

I love my TF. I hate browsing the web on it. Such a shame that the job it is meant to do, is the job it seems to do most poorly. Perhaps its down to the browsers, since I have yet to find one that doesnt get in the way of my surfing. I would be happy if I could find one with a navigation bar that doesnt disappear every time I scroll down the page. I have plenty screen for it, why can't I at least have the option? Is there any browser with a static navigation bar? I'm not using a phone, so I'd like my navigation buttons to be accessable regardless of where on the page I'm at. I'd love to have my tabs static too! Why is this such a hard request? If firefox would just port it's pc interface over it's android browser(which i find stable but a crappy interface), I would be in love.
Oh, and I hate gestures. I like actual buttons with real text labels.
Please call me a noob and tell me what I'm looking for already exists. I will praise you for it.
Anyone else driven mad by the web browsing experience on honeycomb?

Just go to browser settings and go to the labs tab and then unchecked the quick controls box
I already have that unchecked. The problem is that when i scroll down, the back, forward, refresh, and home buttons disappear, along with the address bar. I want it to always be visible. from what i've seen, every browser for android does this, and it makes me batty.
just tap the screen and it comes back/ reappears.
I get that, but it's one tap and wait longer than I want to deal with. 5 browsers on my TF, and they all have this problem. I wonder if the ipad browser is any better...
have you tried dolphin mini? The addess bar stays on the top

did you try the new little radial menu that comes when you swipe on the side? i prefer browsing with everything hidden, and just using that radial... it has bookmarks, tabs, close window, etc etc.

try it out, I use it more than stock browser, only downside getting flash to work on it is a

Hi there, just wondering do you have problem with opera mobile displaying everything website smaller when compared to other browsers example stock browser. Every time opera will load the page with such small fonts it hurts to read. I tried to set the default zoom to 125% it looks better but problem is as soon as I click a link or open a new page, it will zoom out and gimme the small fonts again. Anyway to fix the zoom level?

hey
type in the address bar:
opera:config
hit enter, you'll see a page with diff. settings open up.
scroll down to:
"user prefs"
tap it and it'll expand then again scroll down to:
minimum font size
change the value from default 9 to whatever you like then scroll down to the bottom
and hit "save" button then hit 'ok' in the pop up.
also to speed up opera even more try this:
find "performance" section
tap to open
then scroll down and change the following values:
Max Connections Server 6
Max Connections Total 6
Max Persistent Connections 6
after, scroll down and hit save button then hit 'OK' in the pop up.
you can experiment with diff. values for "connections" settings, however I wouldn't go over 8,8,8 or 10,10,10 as some websites might load slower than with default values (4,6,4)
my browser doesn't always keep the saved settings, sometimes it'll revert to default values...
so it's really a hit or miss, at least for me...
also, the 'default zoom', 125% or whatever % you specify, happens when you double tap the text on screen, it'll zoom that amount
and also reflow the text to fit screen.

The problem with increasing the Minimu font size from 9 to just 12, is it will cut off the right side of somw sites. Like on xda the search button on the top right get cut off if u increase the size. I don't think opera mobile is made for table.

you're right.
I find 12 to be maximum size in order to avoid what you described above.
also I have to kill opera using 'task killer' for saved font setting to take effect.

[Q] Attached Pictures in XDA Site Problem

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, it is to do with the XDA Developers' site.
When I used to click on a picture in a posting, the site would show a medium grey layer on top of the site and this would show an enlarged picture with a X button at the top-right corner. If you clicked on this button, then the layer would dissapear and everything was back to normal.
Now when I click on a picture in a post the site has a medium grey layer sitting on top of the viewable (but unclickable) site. I don't see any picture and there is no X button. The only thing to do is to hit the Back button.
I can view the picture if I right-click on the picture and select to open it in a new tab.
I am using IE8 in WinXP. There is no pop-up block on this site.
Same thing happens here, if it is any coincidence, I am also on XP (Sp3) and IE8.
I reckon it has only been doing it for a couple of weeks or so, any XDA System Mods want to fess up to fiddling with the vBulletin settings, or cascading style sheets?
I'll attach a window dump of one of my own image posts. I had clicked on the leftmost image, but in practice it wouldn't matter a damn which. Also, it doesn't matter what the style chooser is set to, 2010 or Classic, the results are the same.
I just tested to see what happened in Firefox. When I clicked on the above post's attached picture, it opened a new page with just the picture in it. I had to hit the Back button to get back to the postings.
This problem only happened a few weeks ago.
When I click an attachment, a grey semi-transparent layer shows up and then I'm redirected to the image's address in the same page.
I don't get any redirection (in both IE and Firefox). My only option is to go Back. When I do this, the Foward button isn't available.
Same for me. Also, if there is more than one attached picture you used to be able to click on one to get the larger image, and then you could cycle through them all from there. Currently you have to open one, back, open the next...etc.

[Q] forum appears super wide

The XDA forums always appear super wide in my Firefox browser. I mean, I always have to go full screen to be able to see a post's entire text. Resizing Firefox doesn't help. This happens even though there's no super wide element (such as an image). XDA forum just never line wrap "early" enough. I've never encountered this issue on any other forum I'm on. Any suggestions how to fix this? I've been through the forum settings, and messed with Firefox, but nothing helps.

Try the following:
Go to XDA forum (I guess you can do it while reading my suggestion.
Hold the ctrl button on your keyboard (Doesn't matter which one)
Then use the scroller from your mouse to scroll up or down.
Up makes it bigger, down smaller.
If that doesn't help, post a screenshot so that we can truly understand what's wrong.
My laptop doesn't have a mouse, so I use ctrl-+ and ctrl-- in Firefox to control size. Ctrl-0 returns to default.
Actually, I just discovered that messing with my theme setting improves things. XDA 2013 beta gives me the super wide situation. I then have to press Ctrl-- two times, but then the font is rather small. You can see the before/after in the screenshots I've attached called XDA-1 and XDA-2. For comparison, I've attached screenshots of Google News at default size and then after pressing Ctrl-- two times.
I was getting this behavior with the default skin, though I don't know the default skin's name. When I switch to "XDA 2013 beta," it looks the same although I was getting this behavior before 2013. When I switch to "XDA 2013 beta - 1024," lines wrap in a more readable way though it's still a bit wide. When I switch to "XDA 2010," it gives me an appearance I'd call normal. So from now on, I'll pay attention to the theme, but it looks like the themes currently under development need to either give the user flexibility to choose the wrap length, width limit, font size, or whatever. Otherwise, I'm stuck with the legacy theme, which is fine as long as it keeps working. Maybe other people also experience the same performance.
I'm attaching a screenshot of "XDA 2010."
Same issue with Firefox on my Samsung Galaxy S3: the default XDA 2013 Beta theme is a disaster because it goes super wide. I get usable behavior on my phone when I select the XDA 1010 theme.
To follow up, the theme "XDA 2013 -- Beta 1024" now works fine for me. If I resize my browser to a narrower window, the contents squeeze in along with it (up to a point). The "XDA 2013" theme just stays too wide. "XDA 2010" continues to work fine, but I've now switched to the 2013 b1024.

[APK][FREE]Space Browser 7" (Development edition)

This is very simple and very useable browser for android tablets.(Development edition) In simulator it works on all tablets, what I was test!!!
Please don't be angry, if something does not work, so how do you like.
For big android tablets is one problem, browsers are impractical. If you want with right hand finger go back, you probably need stretch to the buttons located on the opposite corner.
In this browser I can operate with almost all buttons in one side.(In next edition I will include these buttons for left hand!)
And for this reason, it is the most practical browser, what ever made.
And it looks good. For others design is depressing grey, or boring white.
It has a bright orange color, with nice buttons.(In next edition I will include other colors and design details!)
It has almost all, what's need in browsers: java script, flash player enabled, bookmarks, history, zoom bottons etc..
It is pretty fast as well!!!
It has tilt scrolling with 3 angles, 3 speeds(you can change it in settings)(works only in lanscape mode).
You can shake device, if you want go back in webpage!
It has four available tabs, but because it is development edition, it works little bit wierd.
This is my first app, who I ever made, and I'm in learning process.
It's will works and looks good on tablets, who has more than 7'' and more than 480x800px.(if you try install on 5'' and 480x800px it will be useless, probably).
And it's designed for landscape mode!
If something not going well, please rate my app and write there, what exactly you not like.
It's 3 day trial version.
Some tips:
If google not open websites, please turn google from tablet to clasic mode!
If mobile youtube not playing video, turn youtube to desktop version!
Please find it in Play store!
Edit:
Here is the link to the app:

First of all congrats on this app! I used on my Motorola Xoom and looked good, but here's some flaws that I think you can fix to improve it.
1 - The color annoys me a little, the orange doesn't go well with JB IMHO
2 - When typing the search it goes to a website, for example : typed xda developers, it try going to the site http://xda developers lol
3 - The color of the letters is white on a white background on the site bar
4 - Ads on a Web browser?! Are you crazy? Your browser may be good, but I can use many others which are free and better than yours! Like Chrome which is my actual browser
Conclusion: it is promising, just some things to fix and improve, looking forward to it

I just think you should take off ads from the pages, put it like on the bookmarks or something like that, because on the page I'm viewing it's really annoying... I understand what you want, but I just think putting ads where you put it is not good, also don't spam your own thread with "refreshes" just to go to the top, put a link on your signature and hope someone find it.
