Backflip dead. Help
Can somebody help me?
I accidentally flashed a wrong ROM for my Motorola backflip.
The Rom was supposed to be flashed in a AT&T backflip.
And now, I can't turn on my phone, even the white motorola screen was not available. But the three buttons below was able to produce vibration when pressed but no light.
What can I do?
A friend of mine told me that I can use adb to fix it, but I don't know.

RE: Backflip dead. Help
Hey there jvdelacruz,
I faced a situation similar in some ways where I thought I bricked my Motorola Backflip MB300 (in Australia).
Please read below and follow the steps as best you can. I hope this helps you.
How to Restore Your Motorola Backflip to Original Firmware/State Using RSD Lite
If you are having problems when experimenting (and failing) to put a new ROM onto your Backflip which makes your phone not work (you think it may be "Bricked") then this may be the one thing that get's you out of the fire.
This proceedure below may restore your phone to a state similar to when you bought it.
If you follow the proceedure in this document you will loose all data on your phone.
If you are in a state where your phone can back up data, I would suggest you do this before following this proceedure.
If you are at a point where you end up on the dreaded "Triangle and Exclamation Mark" screen or your phone keeps starting over and over, then this guide might save you.
In my case, I deleted an importanat file (recovery) on my Backflip, and this did not allow me to use recovery to re-flash my Backflip. It just went into a reboot cycle that would not stop unless I removed the battery.
Step 1:
Download original OEM Firmware (otherwise known as a ROM) for your Backflip according to your country/phone provider. These files will either be in Zip format or, if unzipped ".SHX" or ".SBF" file types. If in Zip, you will need to unzip it using 7-zip or any other unzipping program.
I found the ROM for my OPTUS (Australian) phone along with many other countries on the ModMyMobile.com look under "Motorola Backflip" in the forums (I have the URL, but cannot give it here as I am a new member).
Download the Backflips original ROM according to your country and provider from the above link.
Note: you will need to join the forum to download files, so the registration process is necessary before downloading the ROM:
Note: If your phone can boot up to the blue bootloader, you can still flash it with RSD Lite (in case your recovery is screwed too).
Note: You cannot downgrade from firmware with greater secure version to one with lower secure version. Flashing a SBF sets the required secure version for future flashes to it's own secure version (if the flash suceeds)
Step 2.
Download Motorola Backflip USB drivers for 32bit/x86*or 64bit/x64*and install.
Step 3:
Download RSD Lite program (which will do the flashing of the Firmware/ROM). Simply do a search on Google for RSD Lite with the version number eg: search for "RSD Lite 4.5.7". Once found, simply download and install on your Windows machine. Note well, I used windows XP as it seems windows 7 has issues with running RSD Lite. There are however forums discussing work-arounds on the Win 7 issue. If you have Win 7, I suggest searching for help on this.
Warning: Version of RSD Lite MUST be equal to (or possibly greater than) that as listed in the ROM download page of your provider/country that you used above in step one. The little box in the left bottom of the screen will tell you the RSD Lite version that is required.
In my case, the version of RSD Lite used was 4.5.7
Once downloaded, Install RSD Lite.
Step 4:
Run RSD Lite.
For a guide that includes pictures on how to use RSD Lite, go to the wiki site called "howardforums" and search "How_to_flash_with_RSD_lite"
Now you will have one screen come up which displays a few mostly empty windows. Connect your Motorola Backflip to the PC with a USB cable.
The Motorola should now show up in one of the lower boxes as a device (one line). If you click on the line which has the newly discoverd device, it will then bring information up to the top left box.
Now go to the top right box and load the original OEM ROM/Firmware you downloaded off the ModMyMobile forum. Locate the ROM that you saved (wherever you saved it).
Your phone should automatically go into Bootload mode (blue screen with "Bootloader" text in small font down the bottom of the screen).
If this does not happen and your phone is not playing nice, take battery out of your phone (at any time) and then ensure the USB is connected to the PC and phone. Reinsert the battery, whilst at the same time, holding down the "D" and "J" keys on the keyboard of your backflip.
The phone should hopefully start up and go to the blue "Bootloader" screen.
From there, run the RSD Lite program to flash the old Firmware/ROM of your Motoblur and it will slowly (maybe 15 minutes) reflash your phone to it's "As purchased state".
Step 5:
The program will finish (and will let you know if it has been successful or not). You may then shut down RSD Lite, and then disconnect the phone from the PC (always use the "Eject" command from the USB device menu on XP or Win 7 where possible).
Restart your phone, and you should now have a functioning phone that should allow you to try re-flashing a new ROM onto your backflip (like CyanogenMod for example).
My thanks goes to Rashav (techGeekGuy) for his patience and tips in the Tech Geek Guy Forum and his guides on how to flash the Backflip (a wealth of information). I went crying to him for help, but thought it better for me to just work it out on the net. After a day or two, I am now usuing CyanogenMod, and it has made my Backflip a real pleasure to use.
The site where I got a lot of information on the Moto Backflip (how to root it and upgrade to 2.2 is here): techgeekguy dot com
I did find with the ROM file for CyanogenMod on the Tech Geek Guy site disfunctional, coming up with a "(Bad)" read after trying to flash onto the Backflip from Recovery Mode".
I instead used the ROM file the Mod My Mobile forum and was successful.
This concludes the process.
Good luck!
John.
Heyyy
WERE CAN I FIND THOSE FILES??????????

Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any damage to your phone, your PC from following this guide. The steps in this guide worked for me. If you have problems uninstall everything and start from Step 4 again. Doing this kind of thing could affect your warranty and all that so have a long hard think about it before you go ahead
This guide will show you how to debrand your Motorola Milestone 2 (Eg bought on Optus AU and want generic UK firmware), or indeed restore the phone if you brick (Eg removing important apps that you shouldn’t have touched!!)
##Disconnect phone from PC##
STEP 1 Download usb drivers here below
Motorola Drivers Here: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/
STEP 2 Download the debranded Firmware here (To debrand to generic I used the UK one
Choose Firmware Here: http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
STEP 3 Download RSDLite - I used v4.9, I found earlier versions would not work. Get it here.
RSDLite 4.9 (use google)
STEP 4 Install the USB Drivers and the RSDLite program and reboot PC
STEP 5 Extract the firmware file you downloaded a while ago. Then copy the .sbf firmware file to c:\Program files\Motorola\RSDLite folder (installation directory for RDSLite). this should come out as
MILS2_U6_2.2.16_SIGNED_UCAMILESTONE2B1B80E100A.0R_UCXMILE20RTGB_P029_A007_HWp2a_Service1FF for the UK one.
STEP 6 Start the RSDLite program now where it says filename press the select button and find the .sbf firmware file in c:\Program files\Motorola\RSDLite (it should default to this folder) and select the (sbf) file some details will appear on the right hand side.
STEP 7 Now plug in the USB cable and it should install the drivers . Once the driver installation has finished you should see the phone appear at the bottom of the RSDLite program window under `port 1` - Once this is there you are ready to flash the firmware. NB: I had issues getting it to show a number of times. Uninstalling RSDLite/Drivers, rebooting PC, and then reinstalling these resolved this issue.THE PHONE HAS TO BE CONNECTED AS MOTOROLA PHONE PORTAL AND I ALSO HAD USB DEBUGGING ON
STEP 8 Press the start button on the RSDLite and just relax while your device gets flashed, debranded etc. you will see a progress status on the right hand side wait till it reaches 100% but please do not disconect it will reboot the phone automaticly and restart the phone. And just wait untill android comes up and fully running untill you disconnect it should read (PLEASE START PHONE MANUALY) on RSDLite when this shows it is safe to unplug.
Hopefully now you will have a debranded/unbricked phone.
I then performed a factory reset on the handset
Hope you find this useful and I look forward to a great community for the Milestone 2
any chance you can post a link for the australian stock rom as the links above are all broken.
the same as restoring..
What you describe is the same procedure to restore to phone to factory condition if it's rom was altered, isn't it??
Got it working on my own, turns out I needed to choose the SBF file first, then connect my phone, not the other way around.

(sorry for the wonky links, I didn't feel like spamming 8 posts just to be allowed to have links)
I'm following these instructions
www%2emydroidworld%2ecom/forums/droid-2-discussion/6730-droid-2-gingerbread-2-3-3-release-prerooted.html
This is the SBF I'm trying to flash
www%2emultiupload%2ecom/R6VS5FFISB
I'm using RSDLite 4.9
I've installed these drivers
dl%2edropbox%2ecom/u/7632904/USB_Drivers_bit_4.7.1.zip
I've renamed/relocated the SBF to c:/r.sbf
I've booted into bootloader mode
My device shows up in RSDLite (which I've run as administrator)
I've selected my SBF file and my device in RSDLite
The start button to begin flashing remains disabled, how do I fix this?
May your mobile phone and computer is not connected, may be your driver is not installed.
I have tried to update my droid with update.zip. It failed with a weird message, smth like could not update modem (the phone was ok before)
Now i got mass of downloaded files, like rsdlite and two sbfs
VRZ_A956_2.4.33_1FF_01.sbf and DROID2WE_X6_2.4.29_FULL.sbf
both stop at 100% and i get a popup message telling new device is found QHSUSB_DNLD or something like that. I've checked ALL motorola drivers (5.2.x update) for subject of this string with the hardware id of PID_9008 but i have found nothing! It just simply DOES NOT exit!
I have found proper dirvers, it looks like MSM6600 default drivers. So when RSD switched to BP mode it won't see anything, tho i get the drivers running and in the device manager i clearly see smth like Qualcomm ..Download 9008 but the RSDLite keeps searching and fails to process - Phone disconnected...
So, maybe anyone here got the same problem or has a clue of how to get rid of bootloader screen? Wiping cache, erasing to factory does nothing, I don't just get what this rsdlite wants? which device appears when it switched to BP download mode? Isn't it the one i get?
I have tried 3 PC, 2xXP and 1xWIN7 so it's NOT the PC's fault.
RSDLite is 5.4.5 - latest, the drivers - latest!
Please guys, need your input!
EDIT: I have joined only 3 files: CG05, RDL1.smg and RDL3.smg to test faster - it will immediatelly switch to BP mode, so no need to erase or reflash whole device. Will upload to rapidshare if anyone wants to test.

This nice manual, does not help either
http: //droid.koumakan. jp/wiki/SBF
Try http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-2-global-hacks/170060-tool-ezsbf-d2g.html — this is a bootable CD image (which can be also used with a USB stick) that performs the task.
Note: 2.4.29 is the recommended (at least by me, after quite some experience) image; it's best to update to 2.4.330 OTA.
Thank you.
But here is the fact:
"If you already use Linux as your OS of choice you can flash with your current system, grab sbf_flash and the SBF file then simply cd to where you put the files, then:
chmod +x sbf_flash
./sbf_flash filename.sbf"
I have Linux Ubuntu and i have tried it already. No use.
“No use” doesn't quite describe the problem, to be honest.

Ok it will flash it flawlessly, no problem. But it does not flash the BP module. It just ignores the fact that in package there are AP and BP firmwares, so sbf_flash will flash only the AP part.

I am not yet able to help but at least i can give an answer that will probably point into the right direction.
What actually happens:
Droid 2 Global has 2 CPUs : OMAP (AP) & Qualcomm(BP)
At some reason the update via sdcard or failed sbf flashing in BP mode erases the BP content and fails to write the new data into the nand/emmc(whatever), so Qualcomm will jump into Emergency download more each time the RSDLite will try to switch to BP mode, thus you will see the QHSUSB_DLOAD device (COM PORT actually) that's it.
The chip is CDMA1x QSC6085 so it barely has any security on board, making it possible to use any Qcom flasher compatible with the chip and + ramdownloader.
What to do:
Get a qualcomm flasher (PSAS or other tools)
Get a ramdownloader (boot loader) for the 6085 (can be found, for older phones)
Extract the original SBF file content and use the *.mbn files and flash it.
This way may help.
Thank you alot of you reply me can you explain me step by step and software links ,................................thanks..
i have mac pc and windows both
OK, to be fair I don't know whether to blame LG or Microsoft, but in the middle of upgrading my G2X it looks as if the crappy Windows drivers quit talking to the phone.
The LG software instructed me to do a battery pull and try again, but the result is the phone is now stuck in "S/W Upgrade" display. It won't not respond to the Windows update program. Reinstalling drivers does not help.
It won't boot Android. It's useless.
Rebooting with the sound buttons depressed gives me a black screen, no recovery program.
I have the Android SDK on my Linux laptop, but it doesn't find any USB devices, regardless of whether I do a straight boot or attempt recovery mode.
I have a Linux version of nvflash, which also can't find the device, so http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610562 is no help.
What next?
If you have a Windows computer accessible:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180331
404 land
Sadly most of the links in that thread point to 404s, so I am not able to find the Windows one-click CWM flasher, but I found this
http://search.4shared.com/postDownload/9h4mmcSp/nvflash-cwm_recovery-5027.html
which is a Linux nvflash binary, script, and CWM package. With enough fiddling around I managed to get Linux to detect the device and nvflash to install Clockwork, so I'm at least that far.
Now to figure out how to get rid of that upgrade screen ....
You ran into the exact same thing I ran into about 6 months, literally to a "T".
The link posted above by another member is what I followed, and it fixed the problem for me.
I hope you are able to find the various non-dead files/links!
Good Luck!
Scott
Here is the One-Click NVFlash for windows:
[RECOVERY][APP] 4-28:One-Click NvFlasher ClockWorkMod Touch 5.8.1.3/5.0.2.0/4.0.1.5
Also the KDZ flasher is probably the only way you're going to get the update finished, and you'll have to do that on XP.
XP
I have an XP laptop, but the KDZ flasher crashes when I try checking the phone configuration, and I have not been able to locate a KDZ file for the GX2. Pretty much everything in that thread resolves to a removed file, or a dead domain.
Oh, here's the V21y kdz.
You shouldn't need to check phone configuration, just open the kdz flasher, select the kdz file, and hit go.
EDIT: Yup, from the other thread:
speedsk8x said:
7) Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe.. Leave the type set to CDMA and the phone mode set to DIAG. DO NOT CLICK ON "Read phone information"
8) Click the folder icon and load the V21E_00.kdz

Partial success
I had partial success with these instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
... except that the device drivers were not Win7 compatible and I had to chase down the correct drivers by Googling for Nvidia APX drivers. Once that was done, I was able to nvflash back to a stock system and get out of the LG "S/W Update" bootloader problem.
However, the phone radio isn't working. The cited thread recommends updating using either the KZ loader or the LG Update tool after flashing, so I guess that's my next stop.
Decoding the instructions:
Removing the battery, holding down BOTH volume controls, and plugging in USB puts the phone in to "APX" mode. It will show up as an unknown device in Windows, which allows you to install the device driver. After that the nvflash utility can reflash all the phone's memory.
try this
This happend to me a month ago and took me till 4am to solve...
disclaimer this worked for me but your mileage may vary
First update your lg drivers here
dropbox.com/s/8hibwel69plml4w/LG%20_USB%20_Drivers_All_4.9.7.zip
The only way I found to get it out of the s/w update mode was to use this custom nv flasher that restores it to stock V21E over apx mode
dropbox.com/s/g2eli2mjapfhd0k/G2X_V21E_00_NVFlash.zip
it also includes the nvidia apx drivers
you get to apx mode by taking the battery out and holding both volume buttons down while pluging the usb cable in ... you can let go of the buttons after you see the update screen
after that your phone should boot up normal...skip syncing google account... now with your drivers updated try the lg update tool again... to me the lg tool is the most straight forward way to get the updated baseband... after this works you'll be on stock V21Y with new baseband Mar 11 2012...
now for recovery and backup use this and pick CWM 5.0.2.0
dropbox.com/s/odypked2aqha11i/One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-04-28-12.rar
after you have that done you can then flash this stock rooted V21Y via copy it to your sd card
dropbox.com/s/4db1h60uj7gmvpq/p999_2.3.4_v21y_4142012.zip
Thanks...
Thanks for the links! I'll try again with those versions and see if I can get the LG updater (which caused all this trouble in the first place) to work properly. I am still getting failures when it is connecting with the phone.
While I do have nvflash working (on the win7 laptop) and am able to flash CWM and install ROMs, the phone still doesn't seem to know it's a phone. The T-mobile wifi calling app says the SIM is bad.
I flashed Eaglesblood ICS, which was easy and looks like it's a great ROM, but the phone still doesn't work.
Check the "Rom for Recovery" thread in the Dev Section. Follow the instructions. It should get you up and running in no time.

Hi, new here! I recently acquired a Motorola G7 (xt1962-1/river_amz) from my sister. The device did not boot. It mentioned that the device did not start-up successfully, something in relation to slot/a and slot/b, and that I needed to utilize a Software Repair Assistant.
Non-Verizon devices cannot utilize this Software Repair Assistant, I tried and it hung at Processing Device Info. For Non-Verizon devices there's a piece of software called Lenovo MOTO Smart Assistant which can be found: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds101291
This option did not work for me as the Bootloader did not for some reason allow the device to overwrite some of the content (permission was denied device side.)
The MOTO Smart assistant was good for downloading the devices software. So you do the following:
Download and install the smart assistant software
Click the flash option and then the rescue option
Click moto phone
Select moto g (7th gen)
Select xt1962-1 and then next to target and firmware name there's a download button press that and the firmware will start downloading
You can follow the onscreen instructions for that program, like I said however, it didn't work for me so I'm just going to tell you the steps I went through to get the device working. If you have other solutions, I, as well as the rest of the MOTO G7 users will be happy to hear what worked for you I'm sure.
I tried downloading the files from /moto-g7/development/moto-g7-river-xt1962-1-firmware-29-114-t3913673 on this site and flashing those with some of the below mentioned methods but, no dice.
The default firmware download directory is C:\ProgramData\LMSA\Download\RomFiles btw.
I didn't want to fuss with trying to get RSDlite working on Windows 10. I found that an older PC with a 32-bit install of Windows 7 was far easier to manage, so, that's what I went with.
To follow what I did:
Download RSDlite 6.2.4 from rootjunky's site via: http://rootjunkysdl.com/files/?dir=Android Programs
Download 32-bit drivers from: http://rootjunkysdl.com/files/?dir=Android Drivers/Motorola if LMSA did not install them already
Copy the firmware folder to your desktop or somewhere easy to work from
Ensure your device is in bootloader mode
Open RSDlite and your device should be detected
Select the firmware folder and open flashfile.xml with RSDlite and press start
Let the process finish and don't interupt or you will have to do it all over again
The phone should boot, you will more than likely have to sign into an google account that's already been in use on that device (due to FRP)
You can also use the XML to BAT method, that didn't work for me (remote permission denied/device side)
I hope this helps some people who struggled like I did. Also, sorry if some things are badly worded if at all. I'm autistic and have trouble explaining and expressing things.
Check out my stock resources thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g7/development/riveramz-stock-resources-t3917937/
Worked perfectly!
Thanks! I had the same issue (my wife's Moto G7 stuck at the bootloader) and was able to follow your directions, so much appreciated.
The only change I made was to follow the directions at this video (go to youtube/watch?v=njXQYn53SPc) to perform the XML to BAT instead of using RSDlite (since I was on Windows 10).
It worked perfectly and fixed the issue--and the great thing was that by converting the servicefile.xml instead of flashfile.xml, I was able to retain all the data on the phone.
The overall sequence of steps (listed in detail, since this was my first time flashing. Remove underscores from URLs):
Download Lenovo Assistant from your link
In Lenovo Assistant, go to Flash, then Rescue, then select model of phone. Click to download the firmware (but do not actually click the "rescue" button).
Download Google's Platform Tools (to get fastboot and ADB)
Make a folder to hold everything (called "flash")
Copy the downloaded firmware folder from C:\ProgramData\LMSA\Download\RomFiles to flash folder. Copy the fastboot, adb, and adb dll's from the Platform Tools to the firmware folder (per the video).
Copy and edit commands from servicefile.xml to a new servicefile.bat, as described in the video. Place this file in the firmware folder.
Run batch file in command prompt from the firmware folder.
That got the phone running again, with all data intact.
Thank you so much, worked like a charm.

No problems whatsoever installing RSDlite 6.2.4 on Windows 10 x64 (1909). The drivers were installed by LMSA and I have no idea why you guys said it was difficult.
Just for the record, my phone is a Motorola G7 (xt1962-4), that out of thin air started showing the following message:

When slot A is active and you flash Lineage OS using TWRP, it writes to slot B and switches to slot B.
When you reboot, you cannot boot anymore, because on slot B there is no bootloader.
To mitigate this issue, you have to flash a "copypartitions" zip before rebooting.
My phone also was in 9008 mode and I revived my Moto G7 using the blankflash method, see here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...reteu-t4020263
I can also confirm saving my Hard bricked, non booting black screen, no life moto g7 with the above blank flash app from above link. then i used the lenovo recovery program to put the original rom back on the phone downloadable here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds101291
if you have a black screen hard brick, no life but windows 10 sees it at an unknown or 9008 device then you can bring your moto g7 back to life again. follow all the above links and youre good!
I don't have a Windows 10 PC...plus, if I screw up my phone, I'll catch hell from the wife...lol
SO...that being said, if someone has an XT1962-6 'River' RETIN phone running Android 10 w/June Sec. Patch....I'd be willing to 'donate' to their paypal for a copy of my phones fw! Anyone interested plz pm me. Thx!
Good day, your post was very useful for me, bring back my phone, Im very grateful, thanks, sorry for my english
switch off your phones and connect usb.
first install drives to your pc by searching where to find device drivers motorola
then download lenovo smart assistant and press rescue
Hi. Im new here too. Well been for a while just my second post and the first time iv actually been able to flash a rom. I have the same problem. No bootable slots. I know exactly what i did wrong. I knew it the moment i hit the reboot button. However, i run zorin 15 on my pc and the levono assistant don't support linux. Anyone know where i can acquire the assistant running linux? Greatly appreciated in advance.
Thank you very much sd86 and chi2 for your research and help
Sadly my phone can't boot after flashing clean OS
I don't want to erase UserData partition, but it seems error is there (as it's only left partition untouched).
As I still would like to keep my data (this is the most important thing on our mobile devices) the only one hope is to unlock bootloader, flash recovery partition (eg. with TWRP) and then perform a backup from recovery software.
