[Q] Android Video MMS Messages saved as .JPG and .QCP files. - General Questions and Answers

I have been receiving my video MMS messages as a .JPG and .QCP file. Opening them up just shows a slideshow, 1 pic and the audio (which the play time is way off the actual length).. It seems others have experienced the same thing at one time but I can't locate an actual solution..
Any ideas on how I can restore the phone so that it applies the correct format to incoming video MMS messages?
Using the following:
Samsung Fascinate
JT's DJ05 Super Clean ROM v.09
StupidFast v1.54 Kernel

Solved the issue. You need to use Rom manager. Choose the Download Rom option, then choose Jt1134, go under Install stock applications and choose the MMS app.. Once the app installs and your phone restarts, video messages will receive correctly and give you the option of which video player to open it with..
Hope this helps anyone with MMS issues..
If your using another phone or ROM, try downloading and reinstalling the stock MMS application to get it to work..

[Q] Attaching Web images to MMS

Just switched from Evo to Infuse. The one main feature I am missing is the ability to long press on a picture on a web site and have the option of "share" with messaging app. And I dont mean copy a url into a text message. It would actually automatically copy the picture into a MMS message.
I use this feature so often believe it or not.
Does anyone know of I way to do this? I tried GoSMS app. I tried using Firefox, Stock, Opera, Dolphin browsers. On my evo the stock browser and messaging app would do this without problems.
Now it does give me the option to save the picture then go out and attach the image to the MMS. But does anyone know of a way to avoid the extra steps of having to store the image on their phones ect?
I really though all android phones would be able to do this. Maybe it is just a feature of Htc Sense?

MMS not saving correctly with ALL third party apps, please help me test

The problem is that when i'm trying to save an MMS sent to me through a third party SMS app, it'll save the file as "null" or basically a file without the ".jpg" extension. When this happens the picture doesn't show up in any imaging viewing app. The only way to view it is to either attach the .jpg extension to it by renaming or by going into a file manager and "open as..."
When the file saved is 450-501KB, it'll save as null 75% of the time.
Anything higher or lower saves correctly 100% of the time.
To avoid this problem, I have to use Hangouts. It seems immune from this issue. Every other third party app, Chomp SMS, Handcent, Go SMS, Textra and Hello SMS has the problem.
I know for sure this issue happens on SlimKat ROM and AICP ROM with stock kernels and ElementalX/Franco kernels.
EDIT: Issue present on CarbonROM now too. Gonna test these ROMs again but with no apps installed other than the thirdy party app.

Gallery app to preview mms threads (android)

Hi guys (and gals),
I'm looking for an app that will let me see images in mms threads on my phone. The reason is I want to delete a few of these to save space, but also because I have an app that automatically downloads mms images - and even if I delete the image it will just redownload it until I remove it from the thread.
Any good suggestions?
Cheers

Can't Send Media on WhatsApp

WhatsApp claims that my photos are not photos & so won't allow me to send them! A message comes up saying this when I pick a photo from my gallery (or a freshly taken photo) as soon as the screen reverts to the messaging app conversation it is being sent to.
Also, if I open the camera from within WhatsApp & take a picture, it just doesn't register & the app returns to the open conversation.
It also won't let me send screenshots.
I'm sure I used to be able to send pictures (I don't send many!) but certainly can't now.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?!
(I'm on B182)
Cheers.
Check the app permissions. Maybe it doesn't have direct camera or photo/file access.

Yeah, it does - that's why I'm stuck now, there must be a fair explanation which I can sort out but I can't find it!

I have the same problem with my WhatsApp . all the permissions are enabled in settings but the problem still exists. Did you find the solution to the problem? Thanks
Still working on it but I think it's to do with the amount of media I've received in the past, has filled the 'memory'.
I didn't realise that received files seem to save within the app which only has so much space - something like that anyway!
When I deleted a load of old stuff from within messages, I was again able to send & receive.
Try it.....!
never had that issue before, have you tried reinstall the app from scratch? and clear the cache on the phone?
Done a force stop etc. but I've not done a reinstall because there's too much info I may need access to in my current situation - can do without any more hassles!
Keep hoping an app update will help but not so far it seems.
you can do a backup of everything and then try that

I seem to have hit the Whatsapp images or media limit, there were 1950 images when the issue of "the file you sent was not a photo" and something along the lines of "can't receive the image" occured. Deleted a few images from whatsapp image folder, and for good measure, ran the phone's storage cleaner app to delete redundant files. It seems to work. If the error occurs again, might have to remove more media from storage.

Can't Share Files

Hello, I hope I can explain this properly. I am having problems sharing files in apps that use the default Android file sharing app, which appears to be an app called "Files". If I try to share a hilarious meme that I've saved to my device in Google Chats, after pressing the share picture button a new window opens. If I press on a picture, this new file selection window immediately closes and the picture is not transferred to Google Chats. If try again and press and hold pictures, and then press SELECT in the top right, again no pictures are transferred to Google Chats.
At first I thought this might be a Google Chats issue, but I have run into the issue with any app that doesn't have it's own file sharing component built in. For example, I can share files with Signal and Messages just fine.
I have tried Googling this, searching Reddit. I cannot find anyone else even discussing this problem. All my search results turn up instructions on how to share things.
Below is video of issue in action. Video is kind of fast, please refer to my above description to help see what's happening (or not happening) in the video.
try wiping cache unless you've done it already

I should have mentioned that I tried wiping cache. I even deleted app updates, still same problem. Then downloaded a couple versions of the app from apkmirror, and still same problem.
did you make any tweaks like disabling apps via adb etc?
I've tried with outlook and it works fine using Files to add attachments
Change it from being default app maybe and try some other app instead
I have not disabled apps with adb.
