Hey guys I screwed up. I installed rom manager and flashed the latest recovery before I realized I needed the .08 version. Google was ineffective for me when searching for a solution. How do I revert?

Download CWM (ClockWorkMod) v8 to your PC. Extract it to get the "Recovery" and "Update.zip" files.
Use a test editor to edit the file named "Command" under Recovery, changing sdcard to sdcard2.
Then put both files in the root of a microSD card.
Put the microSD into the external slot. Then hold down and Vol+ button while turning on the power. You will get a "Recovery" boot message on the left corner of the white background.
It will install CWM, hopefully, and then you can reboot with the power/Vol+ combo to bring up CWM.
If you can get CWM installed then you can hook the tablet to your PC via the USB cable. If it links up and gives you a drive letter for the tablet, you can create a folder named downloads and if it does that you can put the update.zip for your version in it.
From there you disconnect, boot into CWM, find the zip in download on your sdcard, and hopefully install it.
I know I've covered a lot too fast. If you have questions as them. If anyone sees and error or a better way -- jump right in.
Hope this helps.

I've got that far, but it still appears nothing is getting installed. I get to the black screen and the install down arrow pops up then quickly goes away. Should I uninstall Rom Manager?
The command file already had sdcard2 on it.
Boot your tablet using power/vol+. If it doesn't enter clockwork recovery then clockwork is not installed.
You can try this:
In rom manager scroll down to the bottom and look for "Flash Alternate Recovery". It should read "ClockworkMod 2.5.1.1-bekit-0.8" Click it and it will flash that recovery. I wouldn't recommend using rom manager to flash roms.
You guys rock! Thank you. got it!
Why can't CWM see the ROMS I have on the SD Card? I don't have to edit the perms do I?
cwm cant see the external sdcard. Make sure any roms you downloaded are not .rar files and they are on the internal sdcard.

I put the update and recovery in the internal sd card. I installed tnt and when I rebooted I went into a boot loop.
I then put update.zip and recovery ( changing to sdcard2 in command) and I see the box. It installs then it reboots into a boot loop.
What should I try next?

If your tablet bootloops…
Press and hold the power button to shut the device down. Boot back into Clockwork. Select the advanced option at the bottom, then go to “partition SD card”, for the first option select 4096, and for the second option select 64. Then, redo steps 7-10.

Follow same procedure with microsd 2, but this time install Clockwork .8. Same setup with placing Clockwork on the device.
Once installed you can access Clockwork at power-up by pressing power + volume up. Once there, clear the cache and data (two options on main screen and use volume to scroll and home to select). You should boot up now. If not, some of the XDA elders may need to chime in to help.
If still in bootloop, open Clockwork again, but this time go to bottom to activate USB storage. Connect USB and then activate- this should show you the internal space. Place the TnT 2.4 update in the root of it (no recovery directory).
1. Deactivate USB storage
2. Clean cache and data
3. Chose install update.zip
4. Pick the update.zip
Should be out of the loop once complete.
Try a reflash, clear cache, wipe the user data (in that order, try the next if the previous did not work). Worst case scenario is re-partitioning the SD card which seems to work most of the time.
I have mentioned this before, but I really think that our devices are either not imaged properly or our SD partitions become corrupt over time. I would also argue that clockworkmod is really a requirement for anyone using these mods. It's so critical when problems like this occur.
I tried this:
Instructions for those with clockworkmod .08:
- Extract the RAR and place the update.zip file anywhere in /sdcard (do NOT just copy the original RAR, that won't work! You have to open up the RAR and copy the update.zip inside. You don't need the /recovery folder for cwm). I would recommend putting the file on the root of /sdcard, since it will be easier to upgrade that way.
- Reboot into recovery. Do a backup first, as that's always a good idea.
- Then, choose "apply sdcard:update.zip", assuming you added the update.zip to the root of /sdcard, and run it.
- Reboot.
Note: I have heard reports that this might "Status 7" and I have no fix for that, yet. It seems to be intermittent.

Clockworkmod v.08 only update.zip (for technical users only!) :
I installed the sd card update and I still get the same reboot loop. What am I doing wrong?
The flash was probably successful, but a boot loop occurred afterwards. This does happen. Since you have clockworkmod, you have a lot of things you can do, as I mentioned.
I got it running.
I fixed the adoble flash, installed a pdf viewer, and titanium backup.
I cant't see the tabs in titanium backup for some reason.
My screen does not auto rotate even thought its set to auto rotate.
Install Adw.Launcher , if you want it to rotate.
Hi
i stalled clockworkmod as described here but when i try to pull it up with the (volume + and power button) all it does is go into the reboot kernal thing and shows the install box and then boots up to normal screen. Did i miss a step somewhere?
thanks
jt
Did you make sure you did it from actual SD Card? (not internal storage).
I followed the steps as well and got the files suggested. I did not root my device however. I'm running the newest build of the stock TnT UI.
I put the update.zip on the root of my SD Card and then the folder recovery (with command in it) on the SD Card as well. I flashed it using the stock method. It didn't look like it flashed but when I powered down and went through the ropes I boot into CWM.

Sounds like you did not install CW. When you unpack the install, it should look like this:
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/recovery/command
If either of those is not exactly like that, it will not work.
Thanks rothnic,
that was the fix, got it working now
I've got CM, Titanium backup, and Vegan on the SD card ready to go, but when I hit power and volume, see a quick download icon, then nothing.
I feel like an idiot.
----
I went back, cleared the sd card and left the update.zip
and recovery/command.
Still nothing.
try moving to the CM files to the sdcard not the sdcard2 (i tried running it from the external microsd but moving to the internal sdcard seemed to work) also makesure the files on the sdcard are moved to the right place on the sdcard just like:
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/recovery/command
as described from rothnic's post in this thread
I am having the same problem....
I applied the latest update before trying this...
Any Ideas?
I just got my new g tablet and the new update fails everytime, so I'm trying to flash the new update 3389 using recovery mode. But only some small words pop up in the upper left side, but no status bar or anything else. What am I doing wrong?
What words?
It reads " detect a recovery key pressed booting recovery kernel image "
Should I put an SD card in?
I would highly advise you install Clockworkmod.
If you do not wish to do so, try to remove the recovery image off your internal SD card. I have found after flashing a TnT stock or Lite ROM, you must remove the recovery image or you'll end up in reboot mode forever.
If you don't have Clockworkmod, you may be forced to use an external SD card to install the original stock ROM.
Or....reflash whatever update.zip file you have. It may allow you to boot into the ROM once and then you could delete the recovery image before rebooting.
Luckily I flashed TnT Lite which also installed clockworkmod. I was able to hook my tablet up to the PC and mount it as a drive. I removed the recovery file and victory was mine!

Hi everyone, I'm a new android/gtab user and looking for some help with installing clockworkmod. I've followed some instructions from this web site. It looks like the installation goes through successfully because I see "Detect a recovery key pressed" followed by "Booting recovery kernel image" after pressing Power and Vol+. A package gets installed and the device reboots normally. they I power down again and try to enter clockworkmod by pressing the Power and Vol+ again and it just keeps doing the same thing over and over. I have in my root the update.zip file and a recovery folder. Am I supposed to delete these after installing? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Once the tablet boots once it deletes the command file in the recovery folder
Thanks, I've read it through and had the files on the internal SD card exactly as the image in the link shows. I get the message in the upper left corner saying "Detect a Recovery Key Pressed", and then a 2nd line that reads "Recovery Image Detected. After that I see the cardboard box. The tablet then reboots as normal and I do not see any signs of a clockworkmod menu. Can I use the built in data erase function to restore it back to factory conditions and start over? I have rooted it with z4root.

If you are installing from the internal sdcard make sure the line in the "command" file says "SDCARD" not "SDCARD2"
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/recovery/command
The command file deletes every time you boot into recovery even if it doesn't install cwm. Make sure the file is there and pointing to the right sdcard.
You have to reboot after installing to get into the clockwork menu. Power/Vol+. If it doesn't go to cwm recovery it is not installed
Thank you very much! That did it! I did read your suggested link carefully but I guess I just didn't understand it enough to really "get it"
Thanks again!

i hate to start this up again but i'm having the same issue and followed the steps from the other thread about cwm and roms.. to my understanding i followed the instructions and downloaded the file then exstracted it and putting the update.zip file & recovery fold on my enternal sd card but each time i do this it boots up and the two lines of txt appear but once i delete the folders and push the pwr & vol + buttons it just boots up normal again. i think i may be doing something wrong while labeling the files but i've done this at least 8 times already and no dice.. i'm at the point of returning it if i cant manage to get this to work unfortunately i was so excited to get this tablet with such high hopes but now its just a head ache, well if anyone wouldn't mind to give me some pointers, i would be greatly thankful.

Read this carefully..If you don't have the command file pointing to the correct sdcard it won't install.

Just the first post
SDCARD!
Jalladi,
That is exactly what mine was doing until I edited the COMMAND file that is in the Recovery folder. In my case, I installed CWM on my internal card. After editing the COMMAND file to point to SDCARD instead of SDCARD2, it worked correctly. I used Notepad in Windows to edit the file while connected to my laptop.
Good luck!
Thanks for this forum, worked like a charm. FYI the command file does not have an extension (ie .txt).
I'm sorry I still don't understand, I'm trying to install on the internal card, but just keeps restarting. I see the recovery folder with command file. It doesn't have anything about sdcard or sdcard2. What do I do with the file to correct?
Thank you for your help!!

When you download CWM, you extract the contents of the file. The contents are an update.zip file and a recovery folder with a command file in there (no extension on the command file at all). The command file will have only one of the two lines below, depending on where you are installing from:
--update_package=SDCARD:/update.zip
--update_package=SDCARD2:/update.zip
SDCARD is the internal memory of the tablet, whereas SDCARD2 is the MicroSD card that you have in the SD Slot on the side of the tablet. The update.zip file and recovery folder with the command file inside of it should be placed on the root location of either your internal memory or your MicroSD card. I hope this helps. Good luck.
OK. So here after having some time to sit down after work to get a full idea of what is going on.
I have 2 different ROMS with zips to flash. One is a stock 2.3.4 rooted....the other is ParanoidAndroid CM9 with everything needed to run it.
2.3.4 has caused my phone to read the SD Card as _ExternalSD as a folder.
When on the phone through Astro or through ROM Manager I can find and view the ZIP files on my memory card.
I flashed CWM via NVFlash and CWM is installed on the phone but the issue that comes up is that when I navigate to the _ExternalSD folder and open in within CWM it only has a data folder and all other folders are missing and the ZIP file that is in the root of my SD card is no where to be found.
What can I do??
Don't navigate to that folder. In CWM, your external is simply just that, your external. So when you go to "Install zip" always pick from "choose from external" or however it's worded. It isn't in your internal in that folder that's called _ExternalSD... think of that like more of a shortcut on your ineternal sd card to get to your external sd more easier in file exporers.
So once again, in CWM go to flash/install zip, and choose external SD and it should be there. _ExternalSD is just a quick shortcut for file managers to locate your external.
That isn't the issue. I chose install zip from SD Card....It brings up a list of all of my folders. I have a zip in the root of my SD and it doesn't show up. I have the other zips in a download folder....That folder will not open. None of the other folders will open. The only folder that WILL open is the folder called _ExternalSD........When I open that folder it brings up the SAME list of folders but no ZIP shows up in the root of that folder and when I open my download folder it shows a data folder in it and no files or ZIPs
Nothing???
What do you mean though the folder won't open? Do you get some sort of error or something?
When I boot into CWM and go to install from SD card and what not it brings up the folders that are in the root of my SD card.
There is a ZIP file in the root that does not show up in CWM. My other ROM is located in my download folder.
If i go to the download folder i see and select it the screen blinks and goes to the same list. The folder does not open.
If I go to my ExternalSD and the only folder that shows inside there is a data folder.
Maybe it's a corrupt or incomplete zip file. Hmm have you tried formatting your external at least? Not via your phone but format with an adapter directly to your computer.
Weird problem, but trying to help as much as I can.
Yeah it is a super weird problem. I can try to format the SD card and see what happens.
I don't see that working but I am going to give it a shot but any other ideas on what it could be i'm down to check into.
My last G2x was rooted fine cracked the screen and ended up getting another G2x and now it won't root. LOL super frustrating. I've rooted so many and this one is just being a pain lol.
So far reformatting is not working. Its not doing anything. I'm so dumbfounded as to what is going on.
Try a complete nvflash again? With clockwork 5.0.2.0?
How would I do that? I thought about trying that but I can't seem to be able to get it to reflash it.
How do I boot the phone up so the NVFlash will work. When I plug it in NVFlash cannot find the device
Alright so I think I've figured out the issue now I just need to come up with a solution.
ROM Manager says I am on 5.0.2.0 but when I boot into CWM it shows I am actually on 4.0.1.5.
So I need to flash 5.0.2.0......Issue is here tho that I cannot flash it through ROM Manager and I can't seem to get NVFlash to work in flashing 5.0.2.0.
Can anyone lend some advice on that?
