I believe i have a problem with my Nexus S's screen. Where things should be grey they are very purple, but other times like in a picture grey object are grey! So could someone check for me by telling me what colour their notification background is. Mine is very obviously purple and i will upload a picture as proof, is this just me or are others experiencing this issue? Thanks
(You can tell by looking at the notification bar and then at the notification drop down area that the bar is black and the notif area is purple-y)
EDIT: After messing with brightness i can confirm this is only happening to me when mine is below around 25%, can others confirm this?
Mine is dark grey
whats your brightness setting?
Auto

My brightness was set to auto when that picture was taken, auto puts it down to below 25%. If i manually set my brightness to below 25% the notif area is very purple, if i set it to anything above about 60-70% then it goes normal and grey!?

Is it possible your obscuring the light with your hand or fingers causing the phone to constantly adjust to what it thinks is changing light conditions?

its possible, if the sensor is on the bottom bezel. never had this issue w/ my n4,5,5x, or p1 though.
My problem is more that the brightness doesn't adjust itself enough. If I'm on auto-brightness and in a pitch black room, my phone blinds me because it doesn't adjust.
What is everyone else using for display settings? I've enabled 'Adaptive brightness' but it's doesn't adjust very well. I prefer not to have to go to something 3rd party like Lux.
Mine micro adjusts in a dark room it's not terrible but it's enough to be annoying while reading because it grabs your attention. More noticeable on white backgrounds.
Whenever I get a notification such as text or email when the screen is off/lockedz the notification does show but the screen is so dimmed that I can hardly read the message. The display brightness is manual and near full brightness.
What could be causing this and how can it be changed?

Can't change it. There is no option to adjust the AOD brightness in OOS.
Can anyone else confirm that turning on the notch drastically increases the brightness of the notifications in the notifications panel. It also increases the brightness of the status bar icons. I am a visully impaired individual and use dark theme for everything and the increased brightness in notifications is making me dizzy Everytime I pull the status bar. When I open the keyboard, the brightness for the keyboard also jumps to the extreme. Anyone else having this problem?
Only fix I have found is to turn off the notch, but I bought this phone for the notch, so there is no point in turning it off for me.
Any suggestions?

I do not seem to have any problems like this on my phone. You should probably rush to the service centre as soon as possible to fix because in longer period it will burn your oled panel.

This is normal, and it is because the darker icons prevent burn-in

Doesn't work
This is a Qualcomm specific feature which is enabled at the hardware level, named Assertive Display

You can't simply disable it.
Just a heads up to everyone who has an S10e The color saturation of the screen even when Vivid is enabled doesn't display the saturation correctly... To fix this "enable blue light filter" and set it at the lowest possible then go back and look at a picture, you will see how it is no longer washed out.
You can see the correct color saturation with "blue light filter" off while in the recent apps screen but once you return to the image it washes out. I figured out applying "blue light filter" corrects it for now!
I hope this helps!!!
I assume they are going to fix this in a future update. Cheers! ?

many thanks! wondered why it was looking washed out.

Seleting vivid to me doesn't do what it should be doing.
I have found that applying "blue light filter" and setting it's effect to minimum fixes the color saturation and reverses the washed out look on images. Another way is to go into visibility enhancements -> color adjustment -> then either apply a filter there like "Tritan" or "personalize color" and follow the steps. To me I cannot see any difference between the above steps or just simply applying "blue light filter" set to minimum. To me both look to correct the color saturation about the same.

Hey is this happening after the latest update or its happening right out of the box
Out of the box. Having it too
We should write to Samsung about this so they could release an update guys !
Good catch!
Now I know the reason why my Motorola Z3 Play displays beautiful colors when browsing my pictures and the S10e looks dull.
I thought Motorola's AMOLED display is oversaturated. It turns out that there is a bug in the display of the S10e.
Thanks for this. I just applied blue light filter and now it's fixed.
I don't notice a huge difference
Can someone tell me how to see how Natural & Vivid are washed out?
It makes quite a bit of difference on natural. By default white looks kind of yellowish. By enabling the blue light filter on minimal it looks like theres actually more blue added to the color balance. Like the default has a blue light filter applied that's stronger and it gets unset by the filter.
May be that it's by design though. They did make a point that the s10's displays have 30% or so less blue light because it's better for health.
Before I had the screen set to vivid, temp centered and then the green slider all the way to the left and the red slider almost all the way to the left. And the blue slider all the way to the right. This seems like a much better color balance than the default as well. Offcourse you do get the oversatured old style 'Samsung' colors this way. It makes the whites seem a lot whiter.
I also noticed this when I compared the displays of my S8 side by side my new S10e. I used the same content and the colour saturation on the s10e was noticeably duller. The blue light filter trick on lowest seems to have resolved it for me also.
I'll have to tinker with the vivid colour channel settings for fun to see if that does the same.
Good catch
have you Tried using the use sRGB option in developer options?
