I'm looking for an armband type case for my Desire HTC to use when out running or on the bike. I want to take the phone for emergency's and also because i use SportyPal to track my route, etc.
I don't really want to pay a lot, under £10 would be perfect.
I've had a look around and found one on the auction side for that kind of money but no others. Any body got any recommendations?
Also wondering if there is a different phone of a similar size that has more and would be compatible with the Desire HD
Cheers
Carl
Well, the HTC HD2 and the EVO 4G have nearly identical dimensions.
So anything for those two should work with the Desire HD.
I'm also in the market for something like this but I haven't looked for anything yet.
I use an armband that I got when I owned an ipod touch, I no longer have the ipod, but my desire hd fits in the armband perfectly, only cost a fiver from ebay too

Excellent. In-law has an ipod touch so i will size it up against that and if it is the same size i will at armbands for the touch.

You'll find that the desire hd is much bigger than an ipod touch but the armband i have fits my phone perfectly

i just got my TuneBelt AB83 this afternoon, i only purchased it as we are theme park freaks and ive lost a few phone on nemesis at alton towers.
the armband is actually very good, and comfy to use, the suprise for me was the touchscreen still works when in the case.
it has the holes on the bottom as well for your headphones, but it takes a bit of effort to make it sit correctly in the case.
it is rather expensive for what it is, and im sure a couple of months down the road it will be a lot cheaper, but it still works out cheaper than looseing another phone.

Thanks for the tip. I've ordered the same one from another UK-seller. Hope to receive it within a few days and post my findings here.
I used my iPod touch arm band for a while, but the phone was too big and would stick out a bit and was very tight! Not a problem in the summer, but when it rains the phone gets wet.
I've ordered a tunebelt from amazon to replace it. Can't see how the phone will fit in an iPhone case, as the size is wrong

Well, I received this APPLE IPHONE 3GS 3G BLUE SPORT ARMBAND and as promised, here are my findings:
Pro's:
- The DHD fits snugly into the pouch, the width perfect.
- The On/Off-switch, headphone jack and micro-usb port are easily accessible through the open parts of the pouch.
- It looks pretty decent.
Cons:
- The Volume-Up/Down buttons are not accessible through a hole in the pouch. It's quite difficult to operate these buttons and because of the snug fit, it's easy to accidentally push one or both the volume buttons. I'm considering to cut into the fabric to make these buttons accessible, but am afraid that this might destroy the pouch altogether.
- The height of the DHD fits into the pouch, but since this armband is designed for a slightly smaller phone, the top of the screen (notification bar) is difficult to read/pull down.
- There seems to be some excess glue on the inside of the pouch and this transfers to the sides of my DHD so I have had to wipe my DHD clean a few times.
TuneBelt AB83
Anyone bought this?
Yes, i have. I use it with a Casemate Barely-there. It's a tight fit, but perfectly usable.
I use it for running.
yes the AB83 was the one i bought
wife tried it lastnight said it did its job well
held the cable out of the way, held the phone securely so yeah recommended

I'm looking for a vertical soft pouch/case/sleeve that will fully cover the G2. The main reason that I want one is to keep pocket lint and such from getting in the keyboard/grill/etc, and I'm not able to find one that FULLY covers the G2.
Something similar to the oem G1 neoprene case, except with maybe a magnetic lid on the top would be really nice.
I ordered this one

The G1 case works perfectly, I received my [email protected] today it started using my G1 slip case immediately.
Any other protective cases out for the g2 yet?
I'm using the Nexus One's.
Tmobile actually sells a nice gel case for the G2 that feels good in your hands and makes the phone a little thicker but not too bulky. It doesn't have a belt clip and its rather nice. It goes for 16.99.

Good question. Most pouches are large enough to fit any phone that isn't ridiculously huge, though.
BTW, LS-VTEC CRX here, boost soon. Fun little gas-sipper
I used a friends N1 case, it was way too tight. Have to find someone with a G1 case to try it out before buying.
The case that shipped with the G1 is an absolutely perfect fit (probably better than on the G1, since the G2 doesn't have the lip)

I'm using my G1 case which fits the G2 PERFECTLY. the slits at the top side of the pouch is perfect for the USB port too, granted charging the phone in the pouch isnt the greatest idea since it will get pretty warm.
Hmm looks like I'll give the N1 case stretching a shot, if not G1 case.

Yeah its a poor mans b18c5 really, all ITR spec stuff EXCEPT forged parts and the block is a b18b. Crank, head, etc is all b18c5. Aiming for 500whp on premium. Should be "too much" for street use and I'll probably use a ebc to tune it down to 300-400 during daily driving.

Just got my pouch in from BuiltNY(the one I posted about earlier) and it fits perfectly. Way nicer than my Nexus One case, and a little thicker material too. I'll post up a few pictures when I get home tonight.
It seems pricey, but it's soooo worth the quality. It's basically and over-engineered nexus one case. Which is exactly what I was looking for.
I can also confirm that the G1 case works perfectly for the G2

So today I got the mount I posted in a previous post as well as a silicone skin that ordered from the same guy on eBay. Generally when you buy something so cheap from China you expect it's crap and it'll go in the trash the moment you get them, but believe it or not both are pretty good, especially the skin. I got them together for $8.50, arived only a week after shipping, and he even through in a free screen protector.
Graded
Skin - A.
Pros
Great quality, really helps with the slick feeling of the phone. Fits like a glove.
Cons
It makes the unlock and volume buttons even harder to press but not too hard.
Mount - B.
Pros
Fits the phone exactly, pretty stable for plastic. Easy to assemble
Cons
Would have been nicer if it was metal, wish it could fit the phone with the skin. Took me a bit to figure out how it worked since it didn't come with any instructions.

I tried several plug-and-play kits before and never had good luck. I finally broke down and bought arrot MKI 9100 which along with a harness for my vehicle cost ~$200 at crutchfield. The install took about an hour and I am one happy camper
I bought this is a FM transmitter car charger it works but in bumpy roads or when i twist it in a sertain way it loses signal to my stereo i just twist it around and it works again but this problem almost never happens.

I've tried pretty much every type of mount and this is the best IMO:
- No bouncing whatsoever.
- Puts the phone in optimal position on the center console
- No need for suction cup or double side tape on dash
- Portable. Came in handy during a recent vacation.

I actually bought the same exact mount from another site it was like a dollar more but I bought a few other things so it worked out to about the same price and all from one place. I love the design of it and I drive a 2007 Focus so the vents are in the PERFECT spot for this. I hate suction cup mounts with a passion because I'm really anal about my window being clean lol. What's nice about this particular mount too is the fact that they sell different mounts that simply just swap the phone holder. They sell bike mounts, suction cups, and more on the site I picked it up from.

Hi.
Can anybody reconmend a car holder for a DHD with a gel case on it?
Appologies if this has been covered, but i cannot seem to find any posts that have this info.

You probably have to do for a universal one mate. I've been looking for the same thing but can't find anything.
Not sure where you are, but I use a universal one from halfords, allows you to rotate for sat navigation too, a bit snug with the case but it works

Just be sure to rinse the pad once a month or so under hot water. Otherwise you'll lose the tackiness on the pad.

Best car mounts and holders. Not at all cheap. But they're built specifically for whatever car and device combo you have and are a super elegant, looks like it came with the car, kind of solution.
They have one for the desirehd that charges dock-like, but won't fit it with the case. The "universal" one they have for phones with cases works well. I've repurposed mine from my old iphone. But it doesn't have the dock piece. May have to rig something up.
If it's for DHD with case, I feel universal mounts may well be your only choice.

Same seller has an adjustable holder. It necessarily looks a little more clunky than the one tailored to the Desire HD/Inspire.
For seven dollars, I think I'll give it a shot.
I would post a link, but I need to go post some more first!
Hit the original link and browse the vendor's store and you should see it.

It arrived and it works. Should fit pretty much any case or phone. Rotates through three hundred and sixty degrees and I can still plug in a power and audio cable. The holding mechanism works quite well. There are two hard "prongs" holding the bottom of the phone in place, and two ratcheting grips on either side that are pushed closed. They have rubber padding. I was concerned they would hold down the volume control but it isn't an issue.
That's pretty cool looking.

Anyone else use the G2 with an arm band? I'm thinking of it since I don't want to go out and buy an ipod nano.
Which one are you using and how's the fit?
I have a feeling the G2 feels a bit too heavy for comfortable running, but it's worth a try to ask!
G2 is a bit heavy for armband imo
l think they cost around £10-20 so if you want to use it for running i would just
buy an ipod shuffle £30 or sony Walkman W-series £27 it is waterproof (if where you live rains all the time like here in scotland) and it doesnt have any wire.

search this forum for iarmband to see what people think. They are $15 iarmbands.com
I used one for my G1 and loved it. When I upgraded to the G2, I got an iarmband to fit it. I also use my iarmband to 'mount' my phone on exercise machines at the gym using the strap doubled over and velcroed with the additional tab.
I began using a football wrist coach with my Touch Pro a few years ago and my G2 fits nicely, as well. (google or bing "football wrist coach" to see more versions than you'll ever need) I stumbled on this while trying to find something in my stash of extra parts to secure the relatively brick-like Touch Pro to my upper arm and reduce the flopping during runs. The wrist coach holds everything securely and I'm not constantly having to readjust it.
When running, I have it rotated so the clear panel is facing away from my body to prevent the phone from hitting my torso. When riding, I have it rotated so the clear panel is on the inside of my wrist, which is convenient for quickly glancing down at the screen while in the aerobars or drops.
Cons:
- the come in several sizes, so you need to find a sporting goods store to assure you choose one that will fit your device and your arm
- you may need an extension cable for your headphones if you want to listen to music on your device while running; the swing of your arm can pull the earphones out of your ears easily - not a problem while riding typically.
e.g. My high-end Shure earphone cables are modular and work perfectly, whereas my mid-range $50 Sony's cables are too short for running comfortably.
As always, YMMV

Finally received and tried the iarmband. It works for my runs. I like that the touch screen works through clear screen cover. Issues are the headphone hole is not perfectly aligned. It is a little tight on the arm, could have more ajustability. Overall I am very happy with this solution, issues are minor. I would recommend.

I bought the Arkon SM armband for my G2...
I had read this thread plus the one over at androidforums.com before selecting it.
Here is the link.
EDIT, guess i need to make a couple more posts to put in a link....ok so here is the link text then for someone to copy if desired.

It works ok, although to make it real tight like i like it I put on 2 wristbands first (even though its up on my bicep area), then slide the thing on. Also, any case for the G2 must be taken off for it to slide in....even then its quite a tight fit. Not something you just pop in and go, gotta work it a tad. This is due to phone width, not.....face size....I guess.
Overall, pleased for the 16 bucks i dropped on it.
I bought a cheap armband a while ago off Ebay similar to this.
Works perfectly for me. Touchscreen works through the transparent plastic window.
Had to cut off a very small piece of the neoprene for the headphone plug to fit.
