[Q] Do you need data to downgrade, root and put a custom ROM on HTC hero? - General Questions and Answers

I've got an unbranded GSM Hero with Android 1.5 and I want to play around with custom ROMs. I know you need to activate it through data after an official update, but would I need a data connection at any point from downgrading to loading a custom ROM? Is there any workaround to do it through wi-fi?
Also, is there anything I should watch out for that would brick it during the whole process? I bricked my G1 like that, so I'm a bit paranoid.

[Q] New to android hacking

I have a HTC Desire HD on T-Mobile Uk 2.3.3 software 2.37.110.5 CL58702. I can't seem to find this on the internet. The reason I wanted it was because I wanted to root and maybe install custom roms, etc. I would like to have a backup of this for warranty purposes.
From what I understand I cannot dump the rom without root access, to gain root access, I have to downgrade first? I'm not too sure what the best method to root the phone is, I've discovered different methods, some seem old. What is the best way to allow me to root but be able to flash back to the software mentioned above just in case.
Can't anyone help me?

[Q] update HTC software with rooted phone

If i update my phone to the new HTC software version 4.54.651.1, will it mess up anything on my rooted phone? Rooted only apps or functionality or anything??
Assuming you don't have any custom rom installed, I think all it will do is unroot you and you'll just have to re-root your phone again. I could be wrong though.

[Q] Rooting Australian Vodafone GT-i9300T

I'm totally new at this and want to root and install a custom ROM onto my Vodafone GS3 (I'm thinking Wanamlite ROM). I've been doing so much research but given the large amount of information on the world wide web I'm more confused than I was before lol.
Can I flash ROMs intended for GT-i9300? There aren't many available for GT-i9300T.
Is rooting different to installing a custom ROM? Must I first root with, for example, Odin, before I install a custom ROM?
If I have any issues and want to take my phone back to Samsung, how do I flash it back to Vodafone stock ROM and where can I find it?
Links to files/programs needed will be greatly appreciated.

Can I flash G920F/I roms to "regional" phones?

I have an phone meant for the Asian territory (G9208) but I can't find any debloated/customized roms for this particular version of the phone.
Are all S6 the same, except for the software & firmware? If so, I'd like to try flashing a G920F/I rom.
I ask here because I don't want to risk bricking it. So, has anyone successfully done this?
Thanks
Did you find any custom Rom for your g9208?, I'm still with 5.1.1 OJ2 with many tries but no effective way to root it.

Root/Downgrade 5.1.1 G920FXXU2BOFJ (Unikernal)

Hi guys, I recently flashed 5.1.1 on my device, (foolishly) thinking that it would get rid of the RAM problem. Unfortunately, it hasn't and I am getting to the end of my tether of all my apps constantly crashing/reloading..
My question today is that is there any possible way I can downgrade or root my 5.1.1 device?
I have checked all the forums and have read through as much as I could, trying to make sense of it all.
I thought I found a solution in Unikeranl, but the problem is, I don't understand what it actually does, as it states that it can root 5.1.1 roms, but for it to work you need to have TWRP which I can't get on my stock device, am I missing something or is there a way for this to work?
