[Q] Rooting Australian Vodafone GT-i9300T - General Questions and Answers

I'm totally new at this and want to root and install a custom ROM onto my Vodafone GS3 (I'm thinking Wanamlite ROM). I've been doing so much research but given the large amount of information on the world wide web I'm more confused than I was before lol.
Can I flash ROMs intended for GT-i9300? There aren't many available for GT-i9300T.
Is rooting different to installing a custom ROM? Must I first root with, for example, Odin, before I install a custom ROM?
If I have any issues and want to take my phone back to Samsung, how do I flash it back to Vodafone stock ROM and where can I find it?
Links to files/programs needed will be greatly appreciated.

Help... new just some question to clarify

hi i got a p5100 device that runs on stock jellybean 4.1.2 and i would just like to know the following
1. Is my bootloader JB since my devices now is updated to 4.1.2 via OTA??
2. Given that my bootloader is not JB do i still need to unlock it to flash custom roms without problems?
3. Does the device region have a significant issue regarding flashing customs roms (omni / cyanogenmod ) ? ... like it might not worth to this specific device though is P5100 but from this region/CSC/PDA etc.. (well samsung does have a couple of devices with different codes )
4. Is there a way to root without using PC?
-- Im not new to rooting and flashing roms, i have done it to my phone which is 2.3.5 GB device not samsung though so i didnt have problems regarding different versions and stuff cause they are all the same....
Hope anyone could help me out i want to flash a custom rom to my tab with less casualties and i want to make sure that i do right to avoid total brick
1. The bootloader should be JB.
2. You do not need to unlock it to flash roms.
3. That should not be a problem, all of the Wi-Fi models are the same, just slightly different software due to region.
4. No, the only way to root it is with a PC. I tried to root it with towelroot and didn't work. Just download cf autoroot and flash it with ODIN.
Edit: If you are looking for a stable Rom, I recommend cyanogenmod. I have been running the nightlies on my tab 2 since December with no issues.

Can I flash G920F/I roms to "regional" phones?

I have an phone meant for the Asian territory (G9208) but I can't find any debloated/customized roms for this particular version of the phone.
Are all S6 the same, except for the software & firmware? If so, I'd like to try flashing a G920F/I rom.
I ask here because I don't want to risk bricking it. So, has anyone successfully done this?
Thanks
Did you find any custom Rom for your g9208?, I'm still with 5.1.1 OJ2 with many tries but no effective way to root it.

installing custom rom help noob

hi guys, since samsung s2 i dont use samsung mobile phones so its a long time
i bought a galaxy s6 and the original room is full of aplications i dont use, the ram avaible is a joke and the battery life isnt very good
i want to install a custom rom
im with the last ofical 5.1.1., if i install a custom rom i will loose right to waranty? there isnt any way of revert the root and count?
thanks
You can unroot the device and reflash the stock ROM, but you cannot revert the Knox counter. Whether or not you loose your warranty depends upon the laws in your country.
so its impossible for now to root, flash custom recovery and flash custom rom without activate the know counter?
Search for the engineering 5.0.2 bootloader. Unfortunately if you are on 5.1.1 already, then it is of no help.

Flashing roms to us variant s7

I recently rooted my sprint galaxy s7. Now i want to flash a new rom to it but I can't find the resources i need to figure out how to do so. Is it even possible this
early in the roots development? Somone mentioned flashfire to me. But im afraid to use that with out knowing whether it will work. I can uninstall bloatware now and store my apps on sd but i would like a whole new operating system. Any suggestions?
Rom development is dead for the us s7's, there aren't any roms to flash.
That sucks. It was one of the big reasons i rooted.

SM-G930T with G930TUVS9CSC1 Firmware, are there custom roms? Have any rom sugestions?

So I just got T-Mobile Galaxy S7 from ebay. Unfortunately the owner kept it up to date or updated it before sending it out. I'm coming across conflicting information on custom roms. I've found instructions on rooting, and have had success. Before i go in to detail on what ive learned so far, is it even possible to flash custom roms with the v9 bootloader? Can I use roms intended for the exynos variants of the SM-G930? Like lineage-herolte. Am I stuck with the T-Mobile rom?
I'm in the same boat; bought it from eBay with the most recent firmware and I'm looking for a root/flash method.
here is a root method that worked for me.

Im waiting on a SM-G930U from verizon to come in the mail before I start blindly flashing to the SM-G930T. I don't want to brick my only phone. I'll updated once ive tried.
Thanks! Have you noticed any issues after rooting? I've heard heat is one of them.
I didnt leave it rooted. I didn't see the point without a rom to put on it, so I reflashed stock T-Moble G930TUVS9CSC1 with odin.
Any update with flashing that custom ROM?
Flashing boot files
Hi just letting you know Be careful I flashed ENG-boot files going around and bricked a my 1st g930vl because it had a U9 boot loader.
I see one or two actuall post but no twrp, so once it gets wiped than it's time to get a new phone.
