[Q] What happened to [KERNEL] Firebird 2 [2.2 Armani Source? - Captivate General

Just wondering what happened to that thread?

There is an issue with it regarding wifi (possibly others as am not a kernel guru) so it was removed from xda by dg. I hope that the issue gets fixed but in the meantime I have a changed one of my network configurations to wep, which it will connect to as well as open, and am loving the awesome battery life I am seeing.
I am sure dg will get it figured out repost it.

What was the topic, can someone explain? And can someone give me a link, so i can use Google Cache to view it?

Sh put up a kernel from Armand captivate source not at my computer so I can't get the link but you could try firebird armani xda. Bump this later if you don't get anything and I will try and dig up the dead link.

I don't know if this is what DG is referring to, but here is the post and here is the thread.

I hope he decides to also include Supercurio's Audio enhancements in the 2.0 release.
Git Dev resources

If you follow DG on twitter you get to hear all of the new information he puts out. The Firebird 2 Kernel is currently in the works. His latest tweet regarding the Firebird 2 Kernel reads
"TV Out is fixed! The kernel is now 100% working!"

And Supercurio's newest headphone sound tweaks...

Awesome! can't wait.

Lets hope not! Looks like a pretty promising kernel, I might have to give this a shot after a bit. We need another kernel to run with CM7 that doesn't include SBC.
EDIT: So since this is based off of the CM kernel I am going to take a shot in the dark and guess it is a BFS base then or no?
Currently installed seems good so far.

I don't have time right this second to give it a flash but if you figure out anything else that would make it seem like SBC please post back. I know I sound like a little girl whining about using SBC but I would rather not run the risk even if it hasn't been proven. My guess would be if this had SBC in the newest it would be included in the title.
Can anyone confirm 4G works with this kernel? I will download tonight when I get home.... more curious than anything.
Cheers!
4g scans fine I'm not in a 4g area though so I can't connect

on the charger now, at 87%. will keep you posted
transfer speeds to sd card still slow
has slow charging bug too
Top notch kernel. The only one that will reconnect 4g automatically when entering and leaving a non 4g phone
Thanks for all the quick feedback. This kernel has been out for the incredible for a while and since I have an Evo too, I decided to bring it over (finally).
To answer some of the questions:
-No, this kernel does not have the SBC mod. In my experience, it did not work right on the Inc (as in, at all), and I am not really keen on the potential downsides, so I don't bother with it. If there is sufficient demand, I would consider changing my mind.
-Yes, the kernel is based on the cm-kernel. The stock cm-kernel that ships with CM7 uses the CFS (not BFS). The Evo version (unlike the Inc version) does use BFQ (not the same as BFS).
-No, I do not have a fast charge fix/tweak. If someone could point me in the direction of that code, I would be happy to add it in.
-4G - I haven't tested, but there is 4G near my office, so I will tomorrow. There is no reason it should not work though since it is up to date with the CM7 changes.
Also, multi-touch information in the OP is primarily geared toward the Incredible. The Evo releases should always have the standard 3/5 options, regardless of recovery version. For the Incredible, it gets more complicated - some screens support 10, others 3, and different versions of CWM recovery will and will not support any beyond 2. So, for Evo users, disregard that in the changelog.
Nice to have even more kernel options. I appreciate the Evo 4g support.
I don't think anyone has a solution for the slow SD card transfers while mounted. ADB push/pull seems to be faster than mounting and transferring.
Cheers, and thanks!
i would try if it had sbc
Wow

[ROM] Showcase AOSP Froyo V0.9.1, Voodoo AOSP kernel, and GAPPS 3/20/2011

I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DIRECTIONS YOU FOLLOW HERE NOR AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEMS ANYTHING I HAVE CREATED MAY CAUSE YOU. YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITY AND DISCLAIM THE RIGHTS TO SUE ME.
NEW RELEASE 3/28/2011
OK, time for a simultaneous release of AOSP Showcase and Mesmerize, with AOSP voodoo kernels and a set of GAPPS that jt1134 has built for us.
First of all lets give thanks to those that helped me out and made this happen. Phidelt82, thanks for testing and hosting the downloads. Elijahblake, thanks for testing and sticking to it even through your phone troubles that the inbetween releases and original (yet buggy) release called. Thanks dfgas for testing as well, and getting me important Mesmerize files. Baked_Tator, thanks for testing it, you provided great help. MrHanMan, thanks for testing, you provided great help as well. Thanks to all other testers who I can not remember their names at this moment (PM me and you'll get put in this list). Thanks jt1134 for all the work you put in on the fascinate rom lately, you've had me playing catch up, because though I strive, I can't be as fast as you. Thanks to lmartin92, for dedicating time, energy, and learning through the entire experience and making these builds happen (that's me)
Now to the order of business, announcing this release. You showcase users who have endured previous releases are now ready for a stable release and here it is. Yes some things are not working, but these are the things most folk can get along without.
What's working?
Bluetooth (though headsets, and keyboards may not work), file sending has been tested by many and is claimed to be working.
SMS is now working fully.
3g is working.
GPS is working.
Wifi is working.
Google contacts/gmail syncing is working (may require reboot or a bit of patience on your part).
In call sound volume setting is working thanks to jt1134.
It shows the proper company as to who is providing you services now.
Much more is probably working, but I can't identify them all nor make claims as of yet.
What isn't working?
Bluetooth headset.
MMS.
Video Camera.
Camera does not work at 5mp and it uses black and white previews.
Probably some other things, if you find them, let me know and I'll get to work fixing them.
Where can I get this?
The Showcase AOSP V0.9 rom release is here
mirror
and a torrent magnet link is magnet:?xt=urn:btih:7f1f77e7e9e9cd29cdf19b8eff9daa0ddaf8f9cf&dn=showcase-aosp-latest.zip&tr=http%3A%2F%2Fopenbittorent.com%2Fannounce.
The EC10 AOSP voodoo kernel is here.
The AOSP Gapps are here.
Use CWM Red to flash these in this order, kernel, rom, gapps. Anytime you flash the rom reflash gapps because the rom breaks gapps after reinstallation. Be sure to wipe data and cache before you reboot.
What happened to the kernel being inside of the rom? I've decided to seperate them out, if someone wants a non-voodoo kernel, they can make one and use it. It does have to be customized for AOSP. I just don't know yet how to do this, but it shouldn't be too hard.
In other words, I'm allowing folk to use different kernels than mine own if they care to put the work into it to make it happen.
WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT *228 unless you wish to possibly lose your phone!
I would like to donate to the cause.
Glad to help you do that. I'm specifically looking to beef up my dev machine to a six core 16 GB ram beast. Of course, if anyone wants to participate in building, I'll actually donate some of my machine torwards a build server. These are the parts I would like to have, and I'm probably upgrading from 8GB 3core machine to a 12GB 3core machine next month (just modifying this sucker here).
I need 2 sets of this memory to make my dream happen. It's a Mushkin 2x4 GB ddr3 1333 (10666) MHZ). The cpu I would like to see is a six core AMD Phenom II x6 1100T. No I don't expect anyone to provide me with this, but this is what I'm going to upgrade to eventually and try to donate back to the community with a Samsung galaxy s i500 build server. By the way, when making donations I'm not the only one to consider. All those fine folk listed above deserve it just as much or more so than me. Now enough with my dreams.
Enjoy AOSP.
Changes in 0.9.1
Streaming issues kind of fixed (no hd youtube, but the rest seems to work).
New GAPPS.
New Kernel (EC10 from jt1134 which is a generic (works on all i500 devices to date) kernel)
GMAIL/contacts sync is fixed
For any questions, comments please join the IRC on #samsung-mesmerize on irc.freenode.net.
Fix for MY PROBLEM please READ FULLY!!!!
New Version is working GREAT!!!!! Thanks again Lmartin92 Thanks to JT1134 and thanks to everyone involved
Awwwwwwwwwww yeah!!!... Thanks to everyone involved!!!
Go go gadget Batesville. Thanks again for the goodies!
Now for some help on getting fixes
all i need fixed is sms and 3g.. I can work with that
Excellent job! I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
Good work man, would you be so kind as to keep the title of this like the rest and add [ROM] and EB11?
I'm also interested in seeing some screenshots .
No problem, changed. That's good info right there, makes this as easily searchable as the rest. Thanks.

Updated Post#2 with how i fixed MY *228 and possibly other NONO debacle...
Be sure you read my exact problems before attempting my fix though please!!!!
Yeah the problem may be the fact there's no Cellular South info even in the apns-conf file haha. And some of the build.prop information is for Verizon, and there's values in there for GSM ? Er?
I flashed the one for the fascinate on my mez. My baseband still read eb16 I had 3g data idk will flash back at lunch and see if texting works but calls and data do. I was in a roaming area I work in a uscc home area that will tell it lol. Are those quadrant scores real? I mean I know that on the vibrant the test was high because of h.264 not working correctly.

[Q] ROM known issues

Hi
Since I'm a new user I can't post in the development forum, so imma ask here.
I have been following this thread for a long time:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1293751
And I'm having a hard time finding a list of known issues for each ROM. I've been looking everywhere but still can't find if BT, HDMI output and 30fps video (just to name a few) are working with the ROMs that are listed in the thread.
I'm more interested in the Compiled CM7 for Infuse and MIUI for Infuse, but they only redirect to the CyanogenMod website and/or give half-answers.
Can anybody help?
Nope none of it works on CM7 or MIUI.
Bt and Hdmi will work when the source codes for gb come out for our phone. Hopefully soon since the last leak came out like last month and was pretty solid.
Not all that sure with the fps issue.
Sent from my SGH-I997
Thanks for clearing that one out for me.
Do you know if we'll be able to port CM9 to the Infuse once the source codes do leak? Or is this not compatible/irrelevant?
Bluetooth isn't waiting on source code, cyanogen mod uses a different Bluetooth stack than Samsung roms, the only thing that will fix Bluetooth is to find a competent developer who had the time, skill, and motivation to get the call audio working over Bluetooth.
So far we have all three, but not all in one developer
the current cm7 compile is otherwise working really well. as kies mini just hit for the infuse you gotta think the full release is right behind it.
Crossing our fingers for source code soon, HDMI and getting our video support back would be nice on custom kernels. Stock kernel is killing my inner child
"the current cm7 compile is otherwise working really well" - so, no HDMI output and no Bluetooth? Otherwise, no problems? I might give it a shot then.
What about CM9? Anybody has a clue?

Team ICSSGS RC4 Issue

Sorry that I am posting here, but I do not have sufficient posts to post this in the development channel.
Last night I installed RC4 of Team ICSSGS and it is very slick. However, I have one major issue: When I call someone (or receive a call) - I cannot hear anything through my phone.
I can workaround this using speakerphone but that is clearly not a solution. Has anyone experienced this and can anyone suggest a resolution?
Thanks!
You might not have enough to post in development...but you can post in the dedicated Q&A thread or at the very very least posy in the Q&A section instead of general.

Thanks a bunch for the meaningful reply. The last modem I tried was radio-cm7-ics-captivate-xxjk9-signed.zip from Oxicottin's page. This didn't fix the problem, unfortunately.
They released another version of RC4.1 last night which combines the I9000 and I897 versions into the same package.
Installing this new release fixed my volume problem.
Not trying to talk badly about RC4 ICSSGS build but i found that the THS version of ICS to be much snappier and less problematic. Your mileage may vary of course. Moral of this post is try several different ones and see which is best on your device that suits your needs

Liquid Desensed 36 Discussion Thread

I've been trying to follow the liquid densensed 36 thread over in android development but there is quite a bit of info there to digest. I am very grateful to jester for all the work he put into this rom so I don't want to write anything in the thread that could be construed as disrespectful to his work....so I decided to post this thread in general tbolt.
Could someone post what does NOT work in this rom?
If there is a fix for it could you post that too?
I realize most if not all flaws are due to the original leak having bugs so I'm not knocking anybody - just the opposite....but whatever the reason could you post the bugs here? That way users can make an informed choice about whether to flash. I know the prevailing sentiment is just nandroid then try it but some of us really like to know up front.
Thanks for participating....and triple thanks to jester for all his work!
Jesters version is the only one I could get to boot at all. All of the others fc my phone to death. I've ran it since he posted it and I haven't had any issues with it all. The worst thing about it is the battery life and the lag. Other than that its not to shabby.

Bluetooth doesn't work. It reboots the phone. I've also had problems with WiFi tethering. It's a very solid ROM though. But as you've said the problems from the original leak still exist. Mostly the poor battery life bothers people.
But I'm sure jester is working on this thing. Dude is a beast.
Ah. Bluetooth is sometimg I do need. That helps.
Thanks!
Bluetooth works with the .19 radio... I have no WiFi tethering and when you plug into the computer its a pita to get it to hook up as disk drive. Other then that it all works pretty darn well.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Hi,
Just want to clear up some things.
I experienced the problem with bluetooth rebooting the phone and through testing if you install the .19 radio, then the rebooting stops. Since I did this no more reboots. Also I use the bluetooth and it does work correctly and pairs quickly also.
I will also mention that when I installed the new leak that came out a few days ago that it would cause random reboots but with the radio I mentioned no reboot at all.
As to the lag and battery life I also was surprised how bad each was until..... Yes there is a fix....
There is a script that you run and then reboot the phone and since then lag is reduced drastically and battery life is much better than before of course it's as good as you will get till we get custom kernels (shout out to imoseyon!).
I hope this helps you out if so hit thanks....
Thanks,
Bryan
IMO may not make a kernel for us. We will see when source drops for the kernel.

Bryan, let me say again at risk of repeating my op. I am VERY GRATEFUL to Jester and give him props galore for all the development he has been doing here. I don't think any developer has contributed as much to tbolt users for a long, long time.
This thread is merely meant to clarify what works, what doesn't work, and any potential fixes. His thread has grown so long and so many issues have been discussed it is hard to filter out the most critical info. I hope this thread helps with that.

There's actually an even more recent radio. Its here in the development section of the tbolt forms. I think the thread is called "ics combo radio." One radio was fixing Bluetooth but giving people wifi issues and another radio was fixing wifi but giving reboots with bt. This radio is the .19 cdma radio, along with the leaked ICS radio for lte. I'm on it now and it fixed my data issue. With every other radio I tried, I had to toggle off/on data whenever I switched from 3g to 4g. I also had a couple revolts here and there. Fingers crossed, but so far so good with the "combo radio."

This from is the best one based on the leak. I still get data drops. So maybe I'll try the combo radio. People have been saying that it fixes their data drops.
